Welcome back, Richest fans! We’re delighted to see you once again! The earth has been around for a long, long time. It’s believed to be over four and a half billion years old! As a result, many creatures that once roamed the planet are no longer around. While we occasionally find fossils, it can be a rare occurrence. However, due to global warming stripping away the ice that once covered portions of the planet, we’re now finding vital pieces of the earth’s history. Such as in Russia, Siberia, Chile, and Canada. Permafrost is an area of ice that has remained in that state for at least two years. With those areas being thawed out, items lost to the decades are also being found once again. Today, we’re going to look at the most interesting items that were found in the frozen land.
If you don’t want the video to be spoiled, here’s the obligatory “spoiler warning”. So, what can you expect to see in this content? Well, we have the treasure of precious stones that was found in the French Alps! As well as some items dating back thousands of years. We also have entries involving a Woolly Mammoth named Lyuba. There’s also Sasha, the Woolly Rhino or Rhinoceros. We also have some information about Iceland’s ice volcanoes. There are some ancient seeds that made a comeback, too! We also have a range of dinosaurs like Ichthyosaurs, the Ankylosaurus, and the Nodosaur. There’s also a message in a bottle from Paul T. Walker. The impressive Lake Vostok. And finally, we have frozen nematodes or roundworms. A collection of ancient microscopic worms. So, join us today to learn a bit about our world’s history!

    10. Blue Babe
During the summer of 1979, a family of gold miners was using a hydraulic hose to melt frozen ground near Fairbanks, Alaska. In the melted mud they uncovered the remains of what turned out to be the mummified carcass of a steppe bison (Bison priscus).

In 2018, a resident of the Yakutia region (also called the Sakha Republic) named Pavel Efimov discovered the well-preserved remains of a cave lion cub in melting permafrost along the Tirekhtykh River. Scientists determined that the baby big cat died around 43,500 years ago at just a month old, before it was old enough to open its eyes.

    8. Giant Wolf Head
Pavel Efimov, the same local resident who found a nearly 50,000-year-old cave lion named Spartak in 2018, discovered a prehistoric severed wolf’s head in northern Yakutia’s Abyisky district the same year. The adult wolf was likely between two and four years old when it died around 32,000 years ago, according to scientists, who were tasked with examining the animal.

    7. Horned Lark
While exploring the Siberian wilderness with two mammoth tusk hunters in September 2018, evolutionary geneticist Love Dalén had the privilege witnessing first-hand their discovery of a perfectly-preserved Ice Age bird in the permafrost. The small feathered flier looked, in Dalén’s words, “like it [had] died just a few days ago.”

In 2018, a team of paleontologists found a mummified horse foal in the 328-foot (100 meters) deep Bataiga Crater during an expedition in eastern Siberia. Its skin, hooves, and tail were still intact, thanks to the frozen conditions preserving the young creature’s remains.

A shocking 2018 study revealed that scientists had successfully revived two worm species that spent tens of thousands of years in a state of ‘suspended animation’ of sorts, frozen in the Siberian permafrost. The team’s findings, which were published in the journal Doklady Biological Sciences, details how the microscopic nematodes constitute the first known example of multicellular organisms returning to life after spending such a long time in a Siberian deep freeze.

As we all grapple with the realities of the coronavirus pandemic, it probably seems absolutely insane that anyone would want to revive a long-dead virus. But that’s exactly what happened in 2014, when a team led by evolutionary biologist Jean-Michel Claverie revived two viruses that were found frozen 100 feet (30.5 meters) underground in the Siberian permafrost.

    3. LYUBA
In 2007, a reindeer herder in northwestern Siberia’s Yamal Peninsula, named Yuri Khudi, discovered the corpse of an animal he’d heard of, but never seen first-hand. That’s because the astonishingly well-preserved carcass belonged to a baby mammoth, who choked to death on mud around 40,000 years ago after falling into water. She was one month old at the time. Scientists named her Lyuba, after her discoverer’s wife.

    2. DOGOR
During the summer of 2018, mammoth tusk hunters exploring northeast of Yakutsk, Siberia discovered the surprisingly well-preserved remains of a prehistoric puppy in a lump of frozen mud. Scientists nicknamed it ‘Dogor.’

    1. CAVE BEAR
Earlier this year, scientists from the North-Eastern Federal University in Yakutsk announced the discovery of a remarkably well-preserved Ice Age cave bear on Siberia’s Bolshoy Lyakhovsky Island. Quick-thinking reindeer herders happened upon the creature and contacted the university, realizing that time was of the essence when it came to preserving the bear’s remains.

    9. Viking Sword
In late 2017, reindeer hunters discovered a 1,100-year-old Viking-era sword between two large rocks in the mountains of Oppland in Norway. They made the incredible find at an altitude of 5,380 feet (1,640 meters) -- most likely constituting the highest elevation a Viking sword has ever been discovered.

    8. Antarctic Oasis
In 2017, scientists from the Australian National University announced the discovery of a warm oasis located throughout a web of hidden ice caves beneath Mount Erebus. Temperatures sit at around 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 Celsius) within the subterranean system, thanks to a comfortable combination of the volcano’s extreme heat and the blistering Antarctic cold.

    7. Largest-Ever ‘Sea Monster’ Fossil
A late 2019 study published in the journal Cretaceous Research details the discovery of the largest-known elasmosaur on a remote island off the Antarctic Peninsula. Researchers believe the creature hailed from the Aristonectes genus, whose fossilized remains differ noticeably from those of other elasmosaurs, with shorter necks and larger skulls.

    6. Antarctic Explorer’s Journal
Explorer George Murray Levick, a young surgeon, participated in Robert Falcon Scott’s 1910-1913 British Antarctic Expedition, also known as the Terra Nova mission, as a member of the Northern Party. The explorers aimed to become the first to reach the South Pole, but not only did the competing Amundsen party beat Scott’s team there, some of Scott's Southern Party crew never made it back home.

    5. Massive Valleys
In recent years, scientists discovered three incredibly vast valleys hidden beneath hundreds of feet of Antarctic Ice. The findings comprise the first batch of data yielded in the European Space Agency (ESA) funded PolarGAP project, which began in 2015 and aimed to better understand the South Pole’s geography and gravity field.

    4. Steppe Bison Remains
In 2011, members of northern Siberia’s Yukagir tribe discovered the nearly perfectly-preserved remains of a steppe bison (Bison priscus). The remains, belonging to a four-year-old male are estimated to be about 10,000 years old and represent the most complete specimen of the species in the world!!

    3. Pegasus Wreckage
On October 8, 1970, pilots flying the Pegasus, a C-121 Lockheed Constellation plane, were faced with a tough decision: whether or not to fly onward in the face of a fierce oncoming Antarctic storm, or not. Due to a fuel shortage, flying back to New Zealand was not an option, so the pilots continued along their planned route.

    2. Ancient Rainforest
Around 90 million years ago, during the Cretaceous Period, Antarctica contained a thriving, swampy rainforest full of vegetation, standing in stark contrast to the seemingly lifeless modern-day landscape.

    1. Frolicking Fish
A photograph of frozen fish embedded in a four-foot (1.2 meters) wall of ice went viral in 2017, nearly two years after it originally appeared on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Wildlife Refuge System Facebook page. Yikes! That's not very catchy. The image displays dead fish positioned in numerous directions and at various angles, appearing as if they had suddenly frozen into place one day.

    Incredible Recent Discoveries in Antarctica!
Antarctica is one of the least explored regions in the world, but it’s not because we’re not trying. The
harsh, freezing conditions make any exploration quite difficult. That’s why it’s only recently that the
frozen continent has revealed some of its secrets. Number one is quite the amazing discovery so make
sure you stay tuned for that as we give you just some of the most incredible recent discoveries in

    A Giant Ice Cave
Imagine a giant cave under the ice around two thirds the size of Manhattan and nearly a thousand feet
tall. Hard to believe that such a thing exists? Well it does, and it’s growing larger and more menacing
    every day.
This giant void is hiding under the Antarctic ice at the bottom of the Thwaites Glacier in West Antarctica
was just recently discovered using satellite images of the area. Scientists thought there might be some
gaps between Thwaites Glacier and the bedrock below it, where ocean water could flow in and melt the
icy glacier above it. But even they found the immensity and speed of the void's growth surprising.
For starters, the void is large enough to have once held 15 billion tons of ice, but, according to NASA
scientists, much of that ice has melted during the past three years. Thwaites Glacier is about the size of
Florida and currently responsible for roughly 4 percent of global sea rise. If the entire glacier melted, the
resulting water could raise world ocean levels by more than 2 feet.

    Unexpected Residents
Antarctica would be the last place you’d expect to find dinosaur fossils. But believe it or not, dinosaurs
did really live there for a time. Long ago, Antarctica was a much warmer place, home to dinosaurs and
lush plant life. Even before the dinosaurs roamed, an iguana-like Triassic reptile called the Antarctica
Scientists announced the discovery of the reptile, dubbed Antarctanax shackletoni, just last year. The
250 million-year-old creature was an archosaur, a precursor to the lineage that would branch into
dinosaurs, pterosaurs and crocodilians. This animal probably grew to 4 to 5 feet long, and scuttled
around what was then the Antarctic forest floor.
Not only that, Antarctica was also home to the world's heaviest elasmosaurid, a plesiosaur of the genus
Aristonectes. Paleontologists discovered the long-necked sea creature on Antarctica's Seymour Island in
1989, but they weren't able to finish excavating the enormous fossil until 2017. They ultimately pulled
1,760 pounds of fossilized bone off the island.
While it was alive, the Antarctic Loch Ness monster would have been 36 feet long and weighed in at a
hefty 15 tons. The creature lived only a few tens of thousands of years before the Cretaceous-Paleogene
extinction 66 million years ago, when an asteroid collided with Earth and wiped out the non-avian

    A Rare Lava Lake
Antarctica seems to be a weird place to find a lake full of lava, but that is what researchers actually
found in the icy South Sandwich Islands in the Antarctic Ocean. The lake is anywhere in between 300 to
700 feet across and temperature of the lava could be more than 1,000 degrees Celsius.
Researchers actually found this fiery lake quite a few years ago in an active volcano, but was only
recently able to confirm its existence thanks to higher quality satellite photos.
Lava lakes are actually a rare occurrence and only seven other such lakes are known to exist in the
world. they can be found in volcanoes in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Vanuatu, Hawaii
    and Nicaragua.

    Singing Ice
Researchers on Antarctica's Ross Ice Shelf have recorded the slow seismic hum generated by wind forces
whipping across the ice sheet's frozen landscape. The scientists liken it to 'singing', but to our ears the
creepy dirge of Antarctic ice shelf vibrations sounds more like the sinister score of a horror movie.
The frequency detected is far too low for the human ear to hear naturally, but when it's sped up some
1,200 times, what emerges is an eerie soundtrack of restlessness hidden within the bleak polar isolation.
The sound has been likened to the sounds of a flute, but go and have a listen for yourselves and tell us
    what you think.

The researchers actually came across this seismic hum by accident while researching a totally different
thing. As the world keeps getting catastrophically hotter, Antarctic ice shelves are beginning to
    dramatically collapse and break apart.

10 Animals Found Frozen in Ice!

We’ve all seen the documentaries with archaeologists carefully using a small
brush to dust away dirt from the remains of some long-dead creature. Finding the
brittle remnants of an extinct animal is pretty typical in this field. But once in a
while, researchers and tourists discover remains that are so well preserved that
they earn a spotlight of their own. Today we are going to show you 10 animals
found frozen in ice, but before watching the video don’t forget to subscribe to our

    10_ The Yuka Mammoth

Though researchers have found multiple specimens of well-preserved woolly
mammoths in the past, Yuka is by far the more strikingly well-preserved to date.
The remains of this 1.8-meter (6 ft) baby woolly mammoth were accidentally
discovered in August 2010 in Yakutia, a remote region of Siberia. The animal was
between six and nine years old when it died, and its carcass is estimated to be
about 39,000 years old. Researchers say that Yuka was most likely killed by
humans since the remains show signs of having been cut open. That makes Yuka
the first woolly mammoth that shows evidence of interactions with humans. The
animal also has the most well-preserved woolly mammoth brain ever discovered,
with the folds and blood vessels still intact, Yuka is so well preserved, in fact, that
scientists are seriously discussing using her DNA to clone the species back into
existence. We guess the researchers didn’t learn anything from Jurassic Park.

    9_ Moose

It’s rare enough to find an animal preserved in ice, but rarer still is the apparent
freezing of two animals when they’re interacting with each other. Well, this is

what a couple of hikers found in Alaska in 2016. Beneath 8 inches of ice was the
stunning sight of two moose fighting each other, clearly so engrossed in their
tussle that they failed to notice the approaching frost.

In the fall, males tend to be more aggressive towards each other, likely due to
territorial disputes or to gain the attention of a female, and at some point, these
two managed to get their antlers tangled. They probably drowned in the cold
water before being frozen over as temperatures fell. Soon after their discovery,
the moose were removed from the ice by local enthusiasts who wanted to
    preserve the unusual find forever.

    8_ Fish

As a fish living in water, ice can be both a blessing and a curse. It’s the unique
property of ice floating on top of water that helps to insulate warmth and allow
fish to survive falling temperatures, but they aren’t always so lucky. In 2014, a
sharp cold eastern wind sent temperatures plummeting very quickly around the
island of Lovund in Norway, and instantly froze parts of the ocean.
Unfortunately for a large shoal of fish, thought to be attempting to escape a
predator at the time, there was no chance to avoid the approaching ice, and they
were frozen in place. The ice sheet was so thick that it was perfectly safe for
people to walk across, and capture these amazing images of thousands of fish
frozen in time. This event had a major impact on the local ecosystem because
birds were unable to find any food, so the skies were strangely silent until the ice
    finally thawed.

    7_ Yukagir Bison

Siberia is one of the coldest places on earth that has been regularly inhabited for
millennia. This makes it the perfect place to find frozen animals like the Yuka

mammoth, and close by there was another discovery in 2011, the mummified
remains of a Steppe Bison- the ancestor to the modern bison. Discovered by a
tribe in the Yana-Indigirka Lowland, the bison was remarkably intact, with its brain
and other organs almost perfectly preserved.
This is the most complete Steppe Bison ever to be found and has allowed
researchers to extensively study its brain, heart, digestive system and blood
vessels, despite it being well over 9000 years old. With no visible signs of injury, it
is thought that the lack of body fat around its abdomen is a clue as to how it died.
Most likely from starvation as a result of the rapidly changing environment in the
    area at the time.

    6_ Selerikan Pony

In 1968, gold miners digging tunnels, about 30 feet below the surface of the
Indigirka River in Siberia, found something surprising- two legs and a tail of a pony
sticking through the roof of one of their tunnels. Experts were called in from the
Zoological Institute of St. Petersburg to help recover the full animal, which they
managed to do, apart from its head.
The body turned out to be of a Przewalski Horse that nowadays is only found in
Mongolia, and amazingly this one appeared to have died about 35,000 years ago.
Analysis of the remains suggested that the horses lived relatively similar then to
    how they still do today.

    10. The Selerikan Pony
In 1968, gold miners who were searching along the Indigirka River in the Russian republic of Yakutia found something entirely unexpected. They were digging a tunnel beneath the frozen ground in search of valuable mineral deposits when they noticed something sticking through the ceiling. At a depth of around 30 feet, they realized that it looked like legs and a tail, so they called the authorities

    9. Fighting Moose
In 2016, a teacher from Unalakleet in Alaska was walking with a friend near the camp where they worked, when they suddenly saw something strange sticking up from the ice. They went to investigate further and found that what they had seen were the antlers of a moose. Initially thinking it had been shot by a hunter, it soon became apparent that something else had happened because they found a second moose.

    8. Yukagir Bison
The Yukagir bison was found in the Yakutia Republic in Russia in 2011, and it's thought to be one of the best mummified steppe bison to have ever been discovered. The species once lived across Europe, Asia, and North America from around 2 million to 10 thousand years ago, but are thought to have finally died out during the end of the last ice age due to changing habitats and because of human hunting.

    7. The Tumat Puppy
In 2015, the Tumat Puppy was discovered on the bank of the River Syalakh in the Sakha Republic of Russia, and its remarkable state of preservation sent waves through the scientific community. Thought to be around 12,400 years old, it was found close to the site of another set of canine remains 4 years earlier, and researchers believe they probably came from the same litter.

    6. Frozen Fox
When the landscape and rivers are covered in snow and ice, not every animal manages to stay out of trouble. Just ask the moose! In 2017, a fox in Germany made a fatal mistake and managed to get itself frozen in the waters of the river Danube.

    5. Kolyma Woolly Rhinoceros
Also known as the Siberian Unicorn, Woolly Rhinoceroses were once present across Eurasia in large numbers, and their remains have been found as far as the UK in the West, and the Chukotka Peninsula in the East. Perhaps this is one of the animals that inspired the myths and legends of unicorns present in many societies.

    4. Siberian Cave Lions
Cave lions went extinct around 10 thousand years ago, but a series of recent discoveries in the Siberian permafrost have allowed researchers to learn far more about them than has been possible before and has even led some to believe the species could be brought back from extinction one day.

    3. Lena The Foal
Lena the baby horse was found frozen in the Siberian permafrost in the Batagaika crater, and remarkably when researchers began to thaw her out, they found that her body still contained blood. At around 42 thousand years old, this is the oldest blood ever collected by more than 10 thousand years and provided invaluable information about how these animals lived.

    2. Fish
It’s not too unusual to see a frozen fish, especially if you’re at a fish market, but have you ever seen a fish frozen in the sea? In January of 2014, a series of unbelievable images were captured in a bay of the Norwegian island of Lovund, after a cold front had caused temperatures to suddenly plummet.

    1. The Yuka Mammoth
Woolly mammoths are the animals we most associate with the ice age, I mean, of course, right? And even though they died out when temperatures began to thaw, recent discoveries have led some to believe they may one day be brought back to life.

    10. Water on Europa
Because of its icy exterior, many people have long thought that Jupiter’s moon Europa could be a possible home to alien life. Jupiter has a lot of moons, 79 to be exact, but what we have discovered about Europa makes it a very viable candidate in our search for life in space.

    9. Biggest Coffin Find In A Century
Back on Earth, archaeologists recently discovered 30 ancient Egyptian coffins in the Asasif necropolis of ancient Thebes, the capital of ancient Egypt. Incredibly, this discovery was found by complete chance after extensive digging in the present day city of Luxor. Inside of these sarcophagi were mummies that were amazingly preserved.

    8. Chewing Gum
How long does it take humans to digest chewing gum? Well, it probably depends on what kind of gum it is. The old wives tale says that if you swallow your gum it will stay in your body for 7 years or something like that, right?

    7. Kepler 22-b
NASA’s Kepler mission in 2011 confirmed the first planet in the “habitable zone”, also known as the ‘Goldilocks’ zone, the perfect distance from a star to have just the right temperature to be able to have liquid water, and therefore, possibly support life!

    6. Giant Squid
The giant squid is one of the most elusive animals on the planet. They are rarely seen near the surface of our oceans; they live deep underwater around 3,300 feet below but a research group in the Gulf of Mexico hit the jackpot in 2019!

    5. Quantum Computing
We’ve looked to the skies, to the sea, but how about into your computer? Recent advances in quantum computing mean that, in the near future, you might be working with far more powerful technology.

    4. Dinosaur Fossil Egg
Our child-like enchantment with dinosaurs often extends into adulthood. So, just imagine how excited 10 year old Zhang Yangzhe must have been when he discovered a fossilized dinosaur egg while playing out near the Dong River in Héyuán, China, now famous for its fossilized dinosaur remains.

    3. ’Oumuamua
In 2017, researchers in Hawaii got quite the shock when they saw something strange flying through the solar system! The strange object was moving too fast to be gravitationally bound by the Sun and was already traveling back into the depths of space when it was discovered.

    2. Zealandia
Not sure if this discovery got a lot of attention but In 2017, geologists made an astounding announcement; there is an entire continent, which they named Zealandia, hidden beneath the Pacific ocean. Some geologists even think that it should be counted as an official continent alongside the standard geological seven.

    1. Oldest Human-Like Skull
In February 2016, archaeologist Yohannes Halie-Selassie and his team were exploring the northern Ethiopian desert when they made a remarkable discovery; a nearly complete hominin skull, which they determined to be around 3.8 million years old. It was actually found by accident in a goat pen!!

We would never want to share our planet with some of the fierce prehistoric predators that used to walk-- or swim-- the earth. From the giant megalodon shark that used to lurk in the oceans to the terrifying titanoboa snake that could be more than 40 feet long. But not all evidence suggests that these mysterious creatures are actually gone. Dinosaurs could still walk among us. Maybe they’re just really good at hiding.

There have been sightings all over the world of strange, unexplainable creatures. From giant direwolves to land-sloths the size of elephants. There are tales of sea monsters like the Loch Ness monster and of giants like bigfoot, who could really just be the mysterious prehistoric great-ape gigantopithecus. We’ve found evidence that we were off by hundreds of thousands of years about when some of these creatures went extinct, like the saber-toothed tiger and the giant birds called teratorns. So couldn’t that mean we’re wrong about them going extinct at all?

We’ve dug up some of the most prominent legends, sightings, and evidence that suggest that these prehistoric creatures are still alive and well-- and that they’re just hiding in their own elusive parts of our world. From tales passed down through generations to unexplainable footprints, here are all the reasons these “extinct” creatures could still be out there today.

    Watch Our MOST Popular Videos:

    10: The Gigantopithecus
There are a lot of clues that say giants could have existed on Earth many years ago. Take the Gigantopithecus for example. This was the largest primate that ever walked around on our planet, but it actually went extinct because it was too enormous.

    9: Roman Giant
Just recently in Rome, a new giant was found. Even by today's standards, considering we are quite a bit taller than our ancient ancestors, 6ft 8in tall is a pretty incredible feat. Even some of the tallest basketball players are not that tall. And in the Rome during the third century AD, average men only reached about 5ft 6in, which makes average men today look basically like giants.

8: The Giants of Death Valley
According to ancient legends, Death Valley in California is actually concealing an ancient subterranean city of giants. Most of us are probably familiar with Death Valley. It is the most inhospitable place on Earth, with an average temperature of over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

    7: Ethiopian Giants
Archaeologist in Ethiopia uncovered an ancient city just recently in 2017. In a report from the BBC, archaeologists claim that they have discovered a city in eastern Ethiopia filled with artifacts from Egypt, India, and China.

    6: Robert Wadlow
If we're going to be talking about giants, Robert Wadlow must be added to the list. You probably recognize Robert as the tallest man in medical history. He is the irrefutable giant that lived. He was actually born at 6:30 in the morning in Illinois on the 22 of February 1918.

    5. Giant Footprints
Speaking of walking across the planet, there is supposedly a giant footprint in the Pingyan village of Guizhou province in China. It was allegedly discovered in 2016, and taking a good look at it the photos you can see it’s definitely the footprint of a very large human.

    4: The Nephilim
Most of you out there have probably heard of the Nephilim. They were a strange group of giant people, also sometimes known as “the sons of God and the daughters of men,” who supposedly lived before the Great Flood.

3: The Lost City of Giants
Just a few years ago, there was an incredible discovery made deep in the Ecuadorian jungle. Researchers discovered the remains of a massive structure that is now being called the Lost City of Giants.

2: The Giants of the Amazon
Here is another story shrouded in mystery also from Ecuador. As reported in Archaeology World, a British research team uncovered extremely tall skeletons in the Amazon region of both Ecuador and Peru.

    1: The Kentucky Dover Mound
Last on the list for today is the Kentucky Dover Mound. It all started in the 1800s when reports began to come in that a discovery had been made of extremely large skeletons all buried under mounds of dirt in North America.

  • 5 FROZEN MAMMOTHS You Wont Believe Were Found ❄️

Mammoths are the animal symbol of the last Ice Age on Earth, and it was the ice itself that perfectly preserved them to be eternally admired. Watch the following video and let yourself be amazed!

Siberia is undoubtedly a place full of surprises and, in August 2010, the frozen yet well-preserved carcass of a female woolly mammoth, currently known as Yuka, was also found here.

    Sopkarga mammoth
I'm still in Russia, land of mammoths. The Sopkarga mammoth, which was discovered in October 2012 just 2 miles away from the polar weather station of the same name...

It was a quiet morning on the Yamal Peninsula in Siberia, Russia, when local hunter Yuri Khudi and his sons found the frozen remains of a mammoth on the Yuribey River.

    Jarkov mammoth
Imagine not even being 10 years old and finding a frozen woolly mammoth; that must be just as incredible as finding E.T.

    Adams mammoth
You’re still in the land of legends, and it’s time for you to meet Adams, the first woolly mammoth skeleton with skin and meat discovered by scientists.

    9. Prehistoric Circle Near Stonehenge
While Stonehenge is one of the most famous monuments in the world, there is a lot that we still don’t know about it and new discoveries are being made every year. As part of the ongoing Stonehenge Hidden Landscape Project, scientists recently discovered an ancient ring of deep trenches near Stonehenge and encircling the Neolithic village of Durrington Walls.

    8. Bat-Winged Dinosaur
In May 2019, paleontologists from China announced the discovery of Ambopteryx, a dinosaur genus with leathery, bat-like wings that existed over 160 million years ago. The creature’s name, Ambopteryx longibranchium, means “both wings” in Latin. In the words of paleontologist Jingmai O’Connor, who specializes in ancient birds, this creature probably resembled “a creepy-looking dinosaur squirrel.”

    7. An Exploded Star
Every atom that’s found on our planet originated in a star when it ejected matter in its dying stages, but some material is much newer than others. In 2016, an amazing discovery was made in the Pacific ocean. About 2.6 million years ago, a supernova exploded around 300 light years away from earth. As our solar system passed through the resultant debris, tiny particles of dust fell through the earth's atmosphere and into the oceans.

    6. Fenn Treasure
A long-hidden hoard of valuables with an estimated value of between $1 and $2 million, known as the Fenn Treasure, was finally discovered earlier this year. I just put it in our video of treasures that haven't been found yet too!!

    5. Champagne-Scented Orchid
In 2017, botanists in Northern Madagascar’s Mahajanga province encountered a champagne-scented orchid species with large, beautiful petals. The little-known flower is just one of many species of lovely-smelling orchids, and wildflowers in general, that are found throughout Madagascar, which is known for its unique plant and animal life.

    4. Mohawk Dinosaur
While working in southern Argentina, paleontologists uncovered the fossilized remains of Bajadasaurus pronuspinax, a giant, herbivorous dinosaur species that boasted a mohawk-like arrangement of spikes along its head and body. The researchers described their findings in a 2019 scientific report published in the online journal Nature.

    3. Prehistoric Mine
Underwater archaeologists working in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo recently discovered a prehistoric ocher mine in a flooded cave complex. The mine dates back somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000 years, making it the oldest mine ever discovered in the Americas, according to Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

    2. Van Gogh Drawing
For over a century, an unidentified Vincent van Gogh drawing sat in a privately owned collection, more-or-less collecting dust as it was passed down from one generation of owners to the next.

    1. Blue Whale Graveyard
In 2011 along the Pan-American Highway in northern Chile’s Atacama region, paleontologists began excavating a remarkable collection of what eventually amounted to over 40 ancient marine mammals. The fossilized remains were originally discovered by highway workers embedded in sandstone, roughly two-thirds of a mile (1.2 km) from the ocean and 120 feet (36.6 meters) above sea level.

  • The Last Living Dinosaur Could Be Hiding In The Congo

Scientist's may have found the last living dinosaurs, hiding out in the Congo basin in Africa. For centuries, rumors like the Loch Ness Monster, Mokele Mbembe, Champ and others could still be alive - until recent scientific evidence suggest, there may be some truth to these rumors!

Welcome back, Richest fans! Today, we have a tale as long as people have been around. Folklore. It’s a story wrapped in the realm of legend. For centuries, we’ve swapped narratives about mythical beasts. The Chupacabra, Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster and many others are spoken around campfires. Some of those tales have revolved around dinosaurs. While we have evidence that they existed at some point, these tales discuss the possibility of our planet being home to some surviving species to this day. With large parts of Africa, especially in the jungles, being unmapped, perhaps this is where they reside…
Recently, a video spread across the internet that may just be the evidence that we’ve been looking for. It showed a group of small dinosaurs scurrying across a road. As a result, we’re going to explore that possibility. The video may be proof that the legendary Mokele-mbembe is alive today. We’re going to chat about this creature. Such as where it lives in the Congo Basin and the Congo River. How its origins came to be from tales in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As well as how a wall in Bolivia relates to this tale. We’ll go over the history of the beast with cryptozoology enthusiast, Roy Mackal, in mind. As well as Carl Hagenbeck’s encounter with the legend. We’ll also attempt to identify what sort of dino it is. Could be a Brontosaurus, Baryonyx, or Plesiosaurs? On top of that we’ll look at tales of other strange animals like the platypus and coati. Perhaps we’re looking at a new Jurassic Park. It’s a story you won’t want to miss.

    Top Ten Frozen Animals
Earth is billions and billions of years old. This fair planet has seen many ages come and go— it has seen
horrid winters and terrifying summers. It has seen ice ages and the deathly cold that comes with it.
It has also seen the rise and fall of thousands, if not millions, of lifeforms. Today, we walk the earth with
very little knowledge of what this planet has seen and experienced. However, sometimes, we stumble
upon animal carcasses that have been preserved by the elements. We rarely ever stumble upon them,
but when we do, they teach us the most intriguing and exciting things— things we would never have
known about our planet if we hadn't found them.
Today on 100M, we'll be going through 10 of these amazing finds.
10 The Puppy Who Ate A Wooly Rhino
In 2011, researchers discovered the age-old preserved buddy of a puppy from a site in Siberia. The
Puppy was said to be about 14,000 years old— but shockingly, that wasn't the only remarkable thing
about the puppy. It wasn't even the most important thing about the puppy.
Inside the puppy's stomach was a furry piece of tissue that looked like it belonged to a cave lion.
Scientists came to this conclusion because of its yellow furry fur. However, further research has now
shown that the tissues belonged to a woolly Rhinoceros. Interestingly, scientists say they have no idea
how the flesh of a rhino got into the stomach of a puppy— specifically because the woolly rhinos were
supposed to have been extinct 14500 years ago.

    9 Ice Age Bear
The last Ice age was about a hundred thousand years ago. That ice age saw the rise of animals who were
extraordinarily capable of dealing with the coldest conditions, and one of such animals was this Ice Age
    Cave Bear.
This bear was found with most of its remains perfectly preserved. The find was made by Reindeer
herders in the Lyakhovsky Islands. Before this bear was found, only bones of its kind had been
excavated. But this remain was of Importance because even its nose was still intact. Its nose wasn't the
only part of the animal that was perfectly preserved. There was also its internal organs and all its soft
    tissue in place.
The discovery was said to be of "world Importance" by scientists involved with the work. According to
them, the cave bear species found became extinct about 15,000 years ago, and analysts have said that
the bear is about twenty-two thousand years old.

    8 Dog Or Wolf?
Russian scientists discovered the body of this near-perfectly preserved puppy in Yakutsk, northern
Siberia. The animal had been preserved by permafrost and it had most of its body perfectly intact.
With radiocarbon dating, researchers were able to discover that the puppy was about eighteen
thousand years. However, even the most extensive tests have been unable to show whether the puppy
was a dog or a wolf.
Yes, that's right. We know how old the puppy is, but we haven't been able to find out whether it's a dog
or a wolf. That just goes to show that even science has its limitations.
However, some other researchers have come up with an interesting theory. What if, they contend, the
puppy was from a population that was ancestral to both wolves and dogs? This seems likely because
18,000 years ago was around the same period man started to domesticate dogs.

7 The Frozen Bird Of Siberia
In 2018, a frozen bird was found in the hills of Siberia. The bird had been well preserved in the
permafrost, and scientists knew that it was a pretty old bird. However, they didn't expect to learn that
the bird was about 46 thousand years old.
Yes. 46 thousand years. And it was still as fresh as the day it hit the ground and died.
The bird was analysed and was found to be a female horned lark which roamed the earth about 49
thousand years ago. It was the first of its kind to be found perfectly preserved that way, and scientists
believe that it will help the world understand lots of different things about earth at the time of its death.
For example, we'll be able to learn about the ecology and the evolution of a range of species that lived
    in that period.

5 Incredible Discoveries in Antarctica 2020#antartica#discoveries#ice#undergroung#lakes
For centuries, Antarctica has captured our imaginations. This southernmost
continent is an awesome place, in the old-fashioned sense of the word. Precipitous
mountains, grinding glaciers and icebergs of every configuration, and a surprising
range of colors make up Antarctica's wondrous landscape. There’s still a lot of
things we don't know about Antarctica. The last thing discovered in Antarctica and
the least explored continent of Antarctica holds many mysteries, but the things
early explorers and modern-day scientists have discovered are quite amazing.
    5. Underground lakes Antarctica discoveries
It’s difficult to imagine anything beneath the thick layers of ice in Antarctica, yet
scientists have discovered a number of underground lakes. Lake Vostok,
discovered in the 1990s by Russian scientists, is the largest subglacial lake in
Antarctica. Scientists have since drilled deep holes into the ice to extract a sample
of the lake water and one sample showed the water to be around -3ºC, despite
being covered by ice over 20 million years ago.
    4. Mount Erebus Antarctica discoveries
Despite the freezing conditions, Antarctica discoveries are home to a number of
Scientists cannot often visit Mount Erebus due to the remote location and
dangerous weather conditions, although a team of scientists managed to climb the
    volcano in 2013.
    3. A Giant Hole (Polynya) Antarctica discoveries
A hole the size of Ireland opened in Antarctica in 2017. Known as a polynya, the
the hole is nothing new - except with a span of 78,000 square kilometers, it’s the
the largest hole to be observed since the 1970s, and the first one to open in 40 years.
Scientists aren’t completely sure why the polynyas are created, but believe it may
be marine mammals using the openings to breathe. They’re still working to
understand the impacts of these strange, giant holes.
    2. Fossil Forests Antarctica discoveries
Antarctica is an ancient land that has undergone some incredible transformations
over millions of years. Before it became a frozen dessert after the Ice Age,
Antarctica was actually a warm region with rainforests and possibly even
The theory developed from the discovery of fossilized wood, signs of tropical
trees, and leaf impressions that show the existence of rainforests in Antarctica.
Scientists have also found a ton of fossils from marine animals, birds, and
dinosaurs from the Cretaceous Period. Among the smaller species, they've
uncovered the fossilized forewings of a beetle species that lived between 14 and 20
million years ago in a warmer climate, and tiny single-celled fossils that have been
a great source of debate among scientists.
    1. Unusual creatures Antarctica discoveries
Antarctica is a barren, icy desert with very little rain, fierce winds, and the coldest
temperatures on earth (the coldest recorded temperature was -89.4°C); yet it’s also
home to a myriad of unique wildlife. It was previously thought that nothing could
survive beneath the massive ice sheets, however, scientists have discovered a
number of unusual species that have adapted to the harsh environment. There are
microbes, crustaceans, colossal squid, leggy spiders the size of dinner plates, giant
worms with shiny golden bristles, and a large, sharp-toothed jaw.

  • Animals Found Frozen In Ice

Winter has arrived to one part or another of the world. If it’s not freezing in the northern countries, its freezing in the southern ones. There’s Snow and Ice on every street, blizzards every 10 seconds and animals that wander the freezing wastes that don’t fear blizzards or people. It’s better just to stay inside and watch online videos, like this one. Nature can be and very often is terrifying, really really terrifying and if watching wildlife documentaries has taught us anything it’s that nature always gets what it wants, even if its you, frozen. BUT! If you absolutely have to go outside for any reason and if you’re the kind of person that takes advice from strangers on the internet, take this sage’s advice: Don’t stay out for long, you could become a popsicle. Don’t believe me? Think you’re a survivalist? So did these poor souls, frozen animals found in unbelievable places.

    A Fishy Situation

According to those present at the fishy-wall, the reason that such a strange act of nature occurred was because of the relationship between the sun, the ice and the water that the fish were occupying. As the thick snow and ice layered themselves over the water’s surface, the heat and light of the sun would dim, eventually blocking out completely, dropping the temperature and oxygen from the water. This would result in the fish Asphyxiating and floating to top of the water before freezing and the weird arty display of suffocated fish came after

    The Cave-Lion
The remains of this Cave Lion were found frozen solid in Siberia in 2017 and its discovery, like most discoveries has kindled the flames of discourse. This discourse this time revolves around whether it’s possible to clone this long dead cat, some believe it’s possible thanks to research done of mice, but that mouse was frozen for less than 2 decades, this cat has been frozen for much, much longer.

    Alligator On The Rocks

    Real Dragons?
It’s a Dragon, the answer’s a Dragon; not a real one though, unfortunately. Yes, this Dragon is a prop, a terrifying prop. The photo of the “Frozen Dragon” comes from the set of ‘The Last Dragon: A Fantasy Made Real” a mediocre science-fantasy movie from the early 2000s.

    Frozen Foxxy
This fox, found in Danube Germany, apparently tried to cross the waters 4 days prior to being made into an icy surprise for those that were nearby the southern German river. The fox wasn’t cut out and laid to rest, nor was it cooked up and made into a meal for the survivalist types, instead it was made into an attraction outside of the Fridingen Hotel.

    The Minnesota Iceman

    The Russian Mammoth
2013. This is a woolly mammoth that is said to have been discovered completely preserved in ice. Although nothing new, as mammoths have been found before, this ancient elephant, Russian scientists claim, still has muscle tissue and fully flowing blood, perfectly preserved. This discovery will help scientists understand more about mammoths as well as in the future potentially using the blood to help bring one to life using cloning. Sounds exciting.

    The Unlucky Fox
strange as this event might sound to those in the warmer climates, this is not the first time that an animal has been ice-cubed in the Scandinavian countries, it’s quite a common thing apparently. On top of just foxes, locals have found fish frozen in place as well as a moose trapped within ice because of the less than pleasant temperatures that the regions can produce.

    Frozen In Time, And Ice
this ice aquarium located in Kesennuma, northeastern Japan, took the idea of preservation and education slightly too far. Hosting over 450 specimens of marine life within super large blocks of thick ice, these creatures which include crabs, fish and even octopuses, are all preserved within realistic lifelike positions. It’s just like being in the ocean with them. For those wondering how this was actually pulled-off, the Ice Aquarium uses what’s called flash-freezing technology.

  • 10 Most Terrifying Discoveries Made In Alaska!

From a horrible beast lurking in the mountains to a disgusting sea monster washed ashore, here are ten of the most terrifying things ever found in Alaska!

    Subscribe to American Eye

    10: Terror in the Mountains
There is something terrifying living in the mountains near Port Chatham, Alaska. Ever since people began to vanish and die there in the early 1930s, there have been rumors of a horrible beast living in the Kenai Mountains. Whether it's Bigfoot, the Yeti, or some even more sinister freak, nobody knows for sure.

    9: The Slide Cemetery
If you ever found yourself wandering through the Klondike Gold Rush National Park in Alaska, you might be extremely shocked and a little terrified to discover the only graveyard within the confines of the park. It's an absolutely ghoulish place, and not the type of location you want to visit on your destination wedding.

    8: Alien Critter
This creepy alien creature was hooked off the coast of Alaska, and it kind of looks like dried spaghetti. As reported by the New York Post, the critter was reeled in and documented during a halibut fishing expedition in August.

7: Vampire Fish Falling from the Sky
The last thing anyone wants falling from the sky is vampire fish. But it happened anyway in Alaska! Within the span of just a week, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game got so many calls from residents in Fairbanks that there was no denying a problem was afoot.

    6: The Kushtaka
The Kushtaka is a shapeshifter. It’s a mythical creature from the folklore of the Tlingit peoples of the Northwest region of Alaska. Another name you might know it by is the infamous “Otter Man,” said to plague the frozen and remote lands of Alaska.

    5: The Alaskan Triangle
The Alaskan Triangle is not so much about something found as it is about a lot of someones gone missing. The Alaskan Triangle is the area between Anchorage, Juneau, and Barrow. Inside this massive expanse of wilderness, you can find mountains, boreal forests, alpine lakes, and huge stretches of nothingness.

    4: Mysterious Lake Shark
In Alaska’s Lake Lliamna, a biologist believes he has spotted a mysterious creature. This happened very recently. However, rather than the biologist having spotted a strange sea beast, experts are claiming it's probably just a massive sleeper shark, the same kind of shark that could be behind the famous Loch Ness Monster in Scotland.

    3: Ice Age Babies
Here's a pretty unnerving discovery from Alaska. Just a couple of years ago, archaeologists unearthed an ancient hunting camp complete with the remains of infants. It's definitely a little strange, but about 11,500 years ago, a band of hunters buried a pair of human babies in a shallow pit in what is currently Alaska.

    2: Disgusting Sea Beast
Check out this terrifying and disgusting sea creature that washed ashore in Alaska just recently. It's an absolute freak show. It washed ashore in a place named Gustavus and was initially thought to be some kind of hideously deformed halibut.

    1: Arctic Dinosaur
Last on our list is something maybe a bit more spectacular than terrifying. In 2014, scientists discovered a new kind of Arctic dinosaur that lived in Alaska 70 million years ago. It was discovered in the Liscomb Bonebed, an area that until recently had been filled with nothing but the fossils of duck-billed dinosaurs.

  • 10 Amazing Animals Found Frozen In Ice

From a puppy that seems like it could have been our best friend to a battle stuck in time, here are ten animals found frozen in ice.

    Subscribe to Epic Wildlife

    10: Frozen Pup
In eastern Siberia, a frozen pup was recently discovered by locals. While unclear whether the puppy is a dog or a wolf, there is no doubt that this is one ancient canine. It was found in permafrost in the far eastern edge of Russia in Yakutsk. According to a report by the New York Times, this frozen pup is 18,000 years old, but it looks like it could have been someone’s beloved pet practically yesterday!!

    9: 42,000-Year-Old Foal
If you thought 18,000 years was too much, check out this 42,000-year-old foal recently discovered completely frozen in ice. A foal is a baby horse, and this bizarre ancient animal was found contained in ice inside the Batagaika Crater yet again in eastern Siberia. Scientists believe the colt was 1-2 weeks old when it died, and similar to our frozen pup, the foal drowned in mud and was then frozen.

    8: Frozen Siberian Bird
This next frozen animal is a bird! That's right, an ordinary bird preserved in ice for 46,000 years. If you want to get specific about it, this bird is a horned lark. It was discovered in northeast Siberia by fossil hunters, and scientists believe this single bird will help them to understand how exactly the ecosystem evolved at the brink of the last Ice Age.

    7: Yukagir Bison
Enough of the small animals, it's time to start talking about some big fellas. The next animal I'll tell you about is Yukagir bison, which was discovered frozen back in 2011. Scientists believe that this was the best-preserved bison of its age, which dates back all the way to about 10,500 years ago. Back in his day, this bison would have weighed about 1300 pounds (600 kg) and stood 6 feet (2 m) tall.

    6: Kolyma Woolly Rhinoceros
We have all heard of the woolly mammoth. But how many people are aware that there was once a horde of woolly rhinoceros freely roaming across the world? Not only was the woolly rhinoceros roaming through eastern Siberia near the end of the last Ice Age, but their remains have even been discovered as far west as Britain.

    5: Selerikan Pony
The Selerikan pony is another frozen animal uncovered in the icy region of Siberia and was yet again discovered by gold miners. It seems that more gold miners are finding frozen evidence of ancient animals than actual archaeologists. The miners discovered the pony thanks to its tail and two legs sticking through the roof of a rocky tunnel they were digging through, roughly 9 meters below completely frozen ground.

    4: Yuka Mammoth
You undoubtedly came here to hear about frozen mammoths, and I won't let you down. The story I'm going to tell you now is about “Yuka”, the frozen corpse of a woolly mammoth discovered in 2009 by Yukagir tribe members in the Yakutia region of Russia. It seems that Siberia will take the discovery of all these frozen animals.

    3: Unfortunate Fox
This poor and unfortunate fox is the strangest ice cube you will ever see. According to a report by the BBC, back in 2017, a hunter found a deceased fox fully encased in ice in the wilderness in Germany, and has since put it on display at his family's hotel. According to a local news agency, the man found the block of ice with the animal inside it beside the Danube River in January 2017.

    2: Alaskan Moose Battle
Yes, the plural for moose is indeed moose. This story is about 2 moose locked in deadly battle and then frozen completely solid inside a lake. This happened near the remote village of Unalakleet, Alaska, back in November of 2016. It is an absolutely astonishing sight. The discovery was made by a teacher who had been showing their friend around a nearby volunteer camp when they came upon the scene.

    1: Cave Lion Twins
What is cooler than a lion? How about a cave lion? Or, how about two frozen cave lion cubs discovered in the frosty region of Siberia? Yes, after two trips out of Siberia, we're back there! A pair of cave lion cubs took the scientific community by storm after they were discovered in Siberia back in 2015. These twin pups – or kitties, maybe? that only lived a day or two, had been trapped in the permafrost for 55,000 years, long before the last Ice Age ended

    8. 3-Parent Babies
A controversial procedure that allows mothers with DNA-based genetic diseases to replace their faulty mitochondria with healthy mitochondria from a donor sounds like something out of a science fiction movie.

    7. Mammoth Island in Siberia
Thousands of years after the woolly mammoth vanished from mainland Alaska, a small number still lived on an island in the Bering Sea. And all it took was one scientist’s discovery in a underground cave to prove it.

    6. Canadian Viking Settlement
In 1960, the first Viking settlement in North America was discovered by a Norwegian explorer on Canada’s East Coast. In 2016, a second similar settlement was spotted using satellite data. A far cry from the original discovery, found by surveying unusual grass mounds in Newfoundland, the second settlement is about 375 miles (600km) south of the original one.

    5. Cold Spot in Space
For many years, scientists have tried to explain the origin of a mysterious large cold region in the sky. The super void is known as a cold spot, the radiation left over from the birth of the universe. Scientists believe one possibility for the cold spot is that it was caused by a super void that light has travelled through. But it could also be a genuine cold reading from the early universe.

    4. Sharks in a Volcano
For those with a fear of what lurks beneath the surface of the ocean, a group of sharks found swimming at the bottom of a volcano might make you think twice about getting back into the water. In 2015, a group of scientists on a National Geographic expedition discovered the sharks inside one of the most active underwater volcanoes on earth.

    3. Cerutti Mastodon Site
A surprising find at a site in California points to evidence that ancient humans could have been present some 100,000 years before previously thought. Found at the Cerutti Mastodon site near modern-day San Diego, the artifacts were discovered by a team including archaeologists from the Centre for American Paleolithic Research and the San Diego Natural History Museum.

    2. Toxic Air Killed the Dinosaurs
Everyone has heard about the asteroid that impacted Mexico, effectively wiping out the dinosaurs, but could they have died from more natural causes? 66 million years ago, when an asteroid almost 9 miles (15km) in diameter slammed into the Yucatan peninsula, it delivered a force equivalent to 10-billion atom bombs.

    1. Lost Civilization in Bosnia
In the spring of 2016, an archaeologist discovered a strange stone sphere in the forests of Bosnia. But what exactly is the massive stone ball and how did it get there? After studying the phenomena for 15 years, Sam Osmanangich believes the stone ball was the largest found in Europe.

    Yukagir Steppe Bison

Back when they roamed the Earth, these ancient bison used to stand a full two metres tall, which is nothing to shake a stick at. One steppe bison was found in 2011 by the Yukagir tribal community in the Russian Sakha Republic, also known as Yakutia. Only two other complete steppe bison were found prior to this discovery, with this particular bison being in the best condition by far. Hair and horn samples were used to approximate the age of the bison, with scientists agreeing that it probably lived around 10,500 years ago. This specimen probably weighed between 500 and 600 pounds and was 1.7 metres tall. When it was discovered it looked like it had died naturally in its sleep before being frozen solid, which helped to preserve it. The frozen landscape preserved the bison so well, in fact, that researchers were able to extract pollen from its stomach, learning that it probably ate grass and wild herbs. Further analysis of its DNA will help determine its relationship between steppe bison and the modern-day North American bison, which is pretty cool to say the least. It’s amazing that we can tell so much about this bison because it was so well preserved in the ice, to the point where it was basically naturally mummified.

    Kolyma Wooly Rhino

Wooly rhinos must have been fearsome creatures when they were still kicking about. They have been found to have been quite widespread at one point, with remains stretching from the UK right on over to the Chukotka Peninsula in Russia. That’s a vast territory and speaks to the hardiness of the ancient rhinoceros. Despite potentially being one of the most abundant animals to roam Eurasia way back when, we still haven’t found many of their remains, which means that we still only have a limited understanding of how they lived. Thanks to a group of gold miners who stumbled across a frozen wooly rhino carcass in 2007, we had the chance to learn a great deal about the species. They found the rhino at the opening of a gold mine in Yakutia, which is the region where the Yukagir steppe bison was also found. It was found to be female, with researchers estimating that it probably weighed somewhere in the neighbourhood of 1.5 tons. That would have made it quite formidable to be sure. This wooly rhino specimen was so well preserved that we can make some surprising educated guesses about these rhinos, including the fact that it had thick brown fur and similarly coloured skin. It also had a relatively short tail, which was covered in fur, along with having narrow ears, similar to those found on depictions of wooly rhinos painted on cave walls by ancient people who lived alongside these creatures around 39,000 years ago.

    Selerikan Pony

Gold miners seem to have all the fun, as another group of miners also found an ancient mummified pony in 1968, also in Yakutia. The group was digging a tunnel around nine metres below the frozen tundra and happened across the pony’s legs and tail sticking out. This all went down around the Indigirka River, with researchers being able to extract it almost whole. The only thing that they were missing was it’s head. The wild pony was a Przewalski horse, which is a species that’s currently only known to live in Mongolia. The stallion lived around the same time as the Kolyma wooly rhino, being estimated to have lived somewhere between 35,000 and 39,000 years ago. Again, it was so well preserved in the bog that it died in that researchers were able to guess that it was probably around seven or eight years old when it got stuck. The ancient bog the pony died in preserved it so well that researchers could tell that its gastrointestinal tract was still full, finding that it ate grass, sedge, herbs, and woodland plants. They also guessed that it probably died relatively quickly, which served to help mummify it and keep it in such pristine condition.

  • STRANGEST Things Found Frozen In Ice!

From viruses hiding for thousands of years, to extremely well preserved human sacrifices, here are 9 strange things found frozen in ice!

    Subscribe For New Videos!

    9. Grasshopper Glacier
Don't get the wrong idea, this isn't a glacier that is comprised of only grasshoppers, but it wouldn't be too far off to claim that. In Montana, grasshoppers and locusts are numerous, and they cause a lot of problems for the locals. But for one glacier near Cooke City, there are literally millions grasshoppers frozen within a 1-mile long and half-mile wide sheet of ice.

    8. A Monster Virus
Many people picture big items being found in ice as the more important discoveries of the kind, but there have been very small things found in ice that are just as important, such many microorganisms that have been discovered in ice over the years. One of these included a 30,000 year old virus in 2014 that wasn't just recovered, but revived.

    7. 25-Million Year Old Lake
There are a lot of frozen lakes in the world, particularly in what we know as Antarctica, where the permafrost is so thick that it can be dozens of feet deep. To that end, scientists have been drilling in Antarctica for years to try and find the bottoms of these ice caps, and one time they came upon a lake that apparently had been frozen for over 25-million years.

    6. Woolly Rhinoceros
In the Siberian riverbank in Yakutia in 2015, a frozen river was found to be the home of a Woolly Rhinoceros, a creature that once existed over 10,000 years ago.

    5. 10,000 Foot Mountain Range
When you think about mountain ranges, you think about them being towering entities in the sky, but in Antarctica, there is a 10,000 foot tall mountain range that is almost completely covered up by snow and ice. They're known as the Gamburtsev Mountains, and scientists are said to have known about them for about 50 years. But as to what else we know about the mountains, it's scarce in terms of information.

    4. A One-Thousand Year Old Forest
Despite the perception, there are many ways that glaciers form, including being able to be put on top of things without crushing or destroying what was underneath them at the time. This was proven in full in Alaska, when the Mendenhall Glacier began to melt heavily at the turn of the century, and as it did, trees began to poke out of the ground where the glacier once stood. At its peak, the glacier was almost 37 square miles in size.

    3. Ichthyosaurs Graveyard
In the Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, a group of scientists were able to find a graveyard full of remains from a long extinct aquatic creature known as the Ichthyosaurs. To those who don't know, the Ichthyosaurs were: a group of large, fast-swimming marine reptiles that lived during the Mesozoic Era, about 245 million to 90 million years ago

    2. Juanita
On Mount Ampato, located at the Argentina-Chile border, some scientists were doing some studies when they came across a young woman's body buried in the ice of the mountain. Specifically, it was found in a crater via a bundle that had fallen from a site at the summit of the mountain that belonged to the Incan people.

    1. Fish Eating Another Fish
Animals have gotten trapped in ice throughout history, but for brothers Anton and Alex Babich, they found a unique pair of animals frozen together in ice in Wawasee Lake in the state of Indiana. What separated this find from others was that it was two fish frozen together, and one of them was eating the other.

    10: Hidden Treasure
Everyone wants to find hidden treasure. Unfortunately, this is something that doesn't normally happen. But in 2013, an anonymous mountain climber stumbled upon a small box that contained 100 precious jewels, including emerald, rubies, and sapphires!! A mountain climber! Can you believe it?? According to a report by the BBC, the small box that this mountain climber found was worth roughly $300,000.

    9: Iron Age Artifacts
Global warming is having some pretty strange effects on the earth. With all this ice melting, so many artifacts that were previously lost are now being revealed. Some of these artifacts are from as far back as the Iron Age. It has been reported that with Norway's glaciers quickly melting, archaeologists have found over 2,000 artifacts alone from the Iron Age, thawed out of the ice.

    8: Fish Eating Fish
Some things found in the ice are strange, some of them are scientifically outstanding, and some are just fun. A recent discovery by two brothers who were fishing in Wawasee Lake in Indiana has taken the Internet by storm. These two brothers found a fish frozen in the ice right in the middle of its meal.

    7: Lake Vostok
Lake vostok is another example of the incredible landscapes buried beneath the ice of Antarctica. Back in 2012, a team of Russian scientists drilled through about 2 miles (3km) of ice and found something quite unexpected. Rather than drilling into more ice, scientists discovered Lake Vostok, the biggest subglacial lake on the continent.

6: Graveyard of the Fish Lizards
Dinosaurs are always one of the most exciting parts of scientific history. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. Of course, ice dinosaurs sound even cooler. Every dinosaur find is exciting in its own way, but a recent Cretaceous graveyard discovered perfectly preserved inside of a glacier down in Chile is an absolutely astonishing find.

    5: Otzi the Ice Man
There's nothing stranger to find frozen in the ice than an actual human person. His name is Otzi, and he was discovered by two hikers when they were on holiday in Austria in 1991. When they first discovered the man frozen in ice, the two holidaymakers reported him as being the victim of a mountaineering accident. But they had no clue that the man they had discovered was extremely ancient.

4: Warriors of the White War
One of the most brutal battles fought in World War One – or in fact in any war ever – was known as the White War, and it happened high up in the Italian Alps with temperatures that were way below freezing. As reported by Daily Mail, the fighting in the Alps went on for more than three years and killed over 1 million people.

    3: The Grasshopper Glacier
Montana is famous for more than just its delicious food. In this state you can find some of the most beautiful glaciers and ice fields in the world. And you will also find a place known as Grasshopper Glacier, an enormous glacier over a mile long (1.5km) and a half a mile (0.75km) wide.

    2: Hidden Mountains
If you try to picture Antarctica in your mind, you will probably picture a flat landscape of frozen ice and snow. But this is actually an optical illusion. Buried beneath the countless miles of ice are all kinds of incredible features. One of the most impressive is an enormous mountain range almost completely submerged by ice.

    1: Anthrax Outbreak
The number one discovery from under the ice is surprisingly quite similar to the bacteria entombed in Lake Vostok. In 2016, a terrible heat wave thawed a lot of the ice in western Siberia. With the ice thawed, many buried secrets were revealed. One of the more dangerous finds was a reindeer carcass that had been frozen for at least several decades.

    9. Medieval Porpoise Burial
Off the coast of Normandy, lies Guernsey, home to a monastic retreat and the cause of many wars in medieval times. Archaeologists were excavating the site when they came across a grave. Quite to everyone’s surprise, it was the remains of a porpoise. Why would the monks here have given the porpoise such a burial?

    8. Ghar Dalam
According to archaeological evidence, our ancestors were present on the Mediterranean island of Malta roughly 2,000 years before the Great Pyramids and Stonehenge were built. I love Malta! As soon as all this craziness is over, it is definitely at the top of my travel list! It appears as though humans first set foot on the Maltese archipelago around 5200 B.C. -- over 7,000 years ago -- when the islands were still connected to mainland Italy.
Signs of early human’s presence dating back at least this far were found in Ghar Dalam, or the “Cave of Darkness.”

    7. Olmec Colossal Heads
Seventeen stone head sculptures thought to represent Olmec rulers have been found along the Gulf Coast of Mexico and dating back between 1200 and 400 B.C. Discovered in the towns of La Venta and San Lorenzo, the sculptures were each carved from a single block of granite, and they were transported 62 or more miles (100 km) to their current locations.

    6. James Ossuary
In 1976, an antiquities collector named Oded Golan acquired a bone box known as the James ossuary, which bears an Aramaic inscription that translates to “James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus.” To some scholars, the cryptic carving suggests that the ossuary once contained the bones of Jesus of Nazareth’s brother.

    5. Spanish Hill
Located in the borough of South Waverly in Pennsylvania, Spanish Hill is a large glacial mound shaped like a sugarloaf, that rises approximately 230 feet (70 meters) above the nearby Chemung River floodplain and 978 feet (298 meters) above sea level, occupying a surface area of around 10 acres (4 hectares/40,000 meters2). The unusually shaped hill is noticeably separated from the region’s hill ranges.

    4. Cyrus Cylinder
In 1879, an Assyro-British archaeologist named Hormuzd Rassam discovered the Cyrus Cylinder, a clay cylinder dating back to the 6th century B.C., among Babylonian ruins in Mesopotamia, or modern-day Iran. The artifact bears an inscription involving the name of the Achaemenid king Cyrus the Great in Akkadian cuneiform script.

    3. Handless Body
Several months after archaeologists excavated the Medieval porpoise burial I told you about, the discovery of a human being’s handless remains at Guernsey deepened an already-existing mystery. The body dates back to around 500 years ago, and is believed to belong to a monk or someone who was drowned. A toe bone belonging to the remains in question was found in a cliff edge, roughly 33 feet (10 meters) from where the porpoise was discovered.

    2. SKULL 5
A 1.8-million-year-old skull that was discovered at the Dmanisi archaeological site in Georgia during the early 2000s qualifies as the most complete jaw and cranium from one of early human history’s significant turning points.

As things currently stand, the earliest reliable scientific evidence of humans in North America dates back roughly 15,000 years. But the questions of “who got here first” and “when” have been challenged numerous times amid discoveries of evidence thought to be left behind by suspected earlier arrivals. One such example can be found at the Calico Early Man Site in the central Mojave Desert outside Barstow, California.

  • 9 Extinct Animals That May Actually Still Be Alive Today

From legendary cats, to fish of the sea, to birds of the ancient world, and more! Here are 9 extinct animals that may actually still be alive!

    9. Coelacanth
It may seem odd to posit that creatures who died potentially thousands or millions of years ago may actually still be alive in the modern day, but there has been proof of this happening in the past, including with creatures that were believed to have been extinct for 65 million years. In this case, the Coelacanth.

    8. Saber-Toothed Tiger
There are many legendary cats who exist in this modern age, but none of them compare to the power and ability that the Saber-Toothed Tiger once had. These massive cats were the ancestors to what exists today in many ways, and yet they were more aggressive, more powerful, and able to do things even lions and tigers couldn't dream of.

    7. Thylacine
The Thylacine, or the Tasmanian Tiger/Wolf, was one of the most feared animals in all of Australia and New Zealand at one point in time. Which brings us to the fact that they were a more recent extinction animal as they were wiped out within the last century. Despite being part of the Marsupial family, these creatures were Apex Predators, able to roam the land and get food without much pushback.

    6. Short-Faced Bear
The Ice Age was once home to a bear that was much bigger, much heavier, and much more aggressive than the ones today. It was known as the Short-Faced Bear, and though it's been extinct for ten thousand years, there are those who swear it's still alive today.

    5. Megalania
In Australia during the Ice Age, there was a creature that roamed the Outback as the Apex Predator of the land, it was a massive lizard known as the Megalania.
This monitor lizard was 23 feet long and was said to have a mouth full of teeth that were not only sharp, they were also extremely venomous. Thus ensuring it was an even deadlier Apex Predator.

    4. The Moa
The Moa was a flightless bird said to have grown over 12 feet tall at its peak thanks to its long neck, and could weigh over a ton at times. Interestingly enough, the Moa was a very isolated bird, it lived on an island off the coast of New Zealand, and would eat plants for sustenance.

    3. Woolly Mammoth
The Woolly Mammoth stands as the most recognizable animal of the Ice Age, and though they have been extinct for more than 8,000 years ago there are some who think they are still alive.
This is not just random speculation too, in the 1920's, a Frenchman heard tale of a sighting of a Woolly Mammoth, noting the following:

    2. Javan Tiger
You might not think that big cats die out too often in modern times, but you would be wrong, and the Javan Tiger is a great example of this. This tiger was found in Indonesia on the island of Java, where it got its name. But that island was also its downfall. You see, the island ensured that hunters could go there and kill the tigers with little issue, and thus, they were soon wiped out.

    1. Megalodon
Sharks have been a large part of the oceans dating all the way back to the dinosaurs. However, the biggest of them all was the Megalodon. Which was not only the largest shark ever (even compared to modern sharks like the Whale Shark) but it was the most aggressive and dangerous.

  • Reaper of death dinosaur discovered in Alberta

Researchers from the University of Calgary and the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta have discovered a new species of dinosaur that once terrorized the province.

As Heather Yourex-West explains, the creature dubbed the reaper of death was a smaller, but still vicious cousin of the tyrannosaurus rex.
