  • Nasa Astronaut Returns With Chilling Information About Earth

When Nasa Astronaut Gordon Cooper went in to space almost 40 years ago, no one was prepared for the unsolved mystery he'd come back to earth to tell, not even himself! Years later, only now is he revealing what he saw.

Hello The Richest fans! Welcome back to another video that’ll definitely fill you up with some more factual trivia. In today’s video, we’re going to examine exactly what one astronaut discovered during a fateful mission. But that’s not all! We’re going to find out why they kept this information hidden from NASA and all other agency.
Gordon Cooper was a pioneering astronaut for the United States Of America. At the time, the Cold War was frightening everyone around the globe. The US faced off against the Soviet Union. The battle would even escalate to the stars above us. Both nations needed to get to the moon first. However, due to cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, Sputnik, and Laika the dog, the USSR were well in the lead. As such, Project Mercury was launched by NASA to gain some momentum. This gave Gordon Cooper the chance to gather some strange findings while above the Earth. He was tasked with a secret mission that lead to the topic of today’s video. So, tune in to find out what he found. As well as how the shipwreck recovery expert, Darrell Miklos, comes into play. It may have something to do with the Discovery Channel’s TV show, Cooper’s Treasure. It may have something to do with adventuring legend, Christopher Columbus. Who knows!? Well, you will once you start watching. We promise you, it’s worth it!

Astronauts landed on the moon for the first time 50 years ago, and they left a bunch of stuff up there — including their poop. Scientists want to know: Is there anything alive in there?

Our poop is over 50 percent bacteria, and we don’t know if any of that bacteria can survive in the moon’s inhospitable environment. But if we go back to check it out, that poop could answer some big scientific questions — including how life started in the broader universe.

  • Weird Pictures by Apollo Astronauts that still exist!

Today 50 years ago a rocket had liftoff carrying 3 people of the human species to step on another celestial object for the first time. This journey, and the following ones, have been documented in a vast number of images. In the following decades the best ones have been selected and placed in books and other media. They made it an adventure that seems as strange to us as a fairy tale, like many things in history.
But these were real people in real situations. And real people are not perfect. When they took pictures, they did not turn out as intended sometimes.
Today we have the delete button. It enables us to select the reality we want. We are the ones that live in a fairy tale of social media. But what happened to the “bad” Images of the Apollo astronauts? They are still around, as they are historical documents.

So I went on a journey to look for days through 15 000 Images of the Apollo program for …bad images that are special in some way. And It really made me feel more connected with these days as they were as real as the current one.

  • Astronaut Keeps A Secret About Space For Nearly 50 Years

Even before the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union turned into a full sprint, space exploration was providing us with loads of new information about the universe. Yet there was one astronaut who discovered something so big, he didn’t want to share it.

While on a mission sponsored by NASA, astronaut Gordon Cooper was tasked with gathering valuable insight into the workings of our galaxy. Only, while orbiting the planet, he observed something on Earth’s surface — something that he would keep a secret for nearly five decades. Recently, however, that secret was exposed for all the world to see…

  • Learn About Living & Working in Space with two NASA Astronauts

Fifteen years after the first space station module was launched, we have had dozens of astronauts who have lived and worked 240 miles off the planet on the International Space Station. Hear about what it's like to live and work in low Earth orbit from astronaut Chris Cassidy, who recently returned from spending 166 days aboard the station. He orbited the Earth 2,656 times and traveled more than 70 million miles.

Cassidy was joined by astronaut Leland Melvin, currently the Associate Administrator for Education at NASA, who reflected on his time in space and how students across the country can get involved in the future of human spaceflight with NASA challenges and projects that those in K-12 classrooms can participate in.

  • International Space Station 20th Birthday: astronauts celebrate humans’ home in space

Monday 2 November, 2020 marks 20 years since the first crew took up residence on the International Space Station. Since then, 240 people including 18 ESA astronauts have lived and worked on the orbital outpost, carrying out essential research to benefit life on Earth.

In this clip, ESA astronauts Luca Parmitano, Alexander Gerst, Thomas Pesquet, Tim Peake, Andreas Mogensen, André Kuipers, Christer Fuglesang, Frank De Winne and Reinhold Ewald pay tribute to the Station. ESA Director General Jan Wörner and NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine also speak about the Station’s significance for space exploration and international collaboration.

The next ESA mission to the International Space Station is set for 2021, when Thomas Pesquet will become the first European to fly on a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft for his Alpha mission.

The Cold War had been concluded for less than a decade when NASA astronaut Bill Shepherd and two Russian cosmonauts, Sergei Krikalev and Yuri Gidzenko, crammed themselves into a Soyuz spacecraft and blasted into orbit on Halloween, 20 years ago.

Two days later their small spacecraft docked with the International Space Station, then a fraction of the size it is today. Their arrival would herald the beginning of what has since become 20 years of continuous habitation of the laboratory that NASA, leading an international partnership, would continue to build for another decade.

Born of a desire to smooth geopolitical tensions in the aftermath of the great conflict between the United States and Soviet Union, the space station partnership has more or less succeeded—the station has remained inhabited despite the space shuttle Columbia disaster in 2003, and later, nearly a decade of no US space transportation. NASA, Roscosmos, and the European, Japanese, and Canadian partners have been able to rely on one another.

Not that it has been easy. Tensions have existed from those very first moments on the station. Shepherd, who would serve as the first ISS commander over his more experienced cosmonaut counterparts, wanted to nickname the station “Alpha.” He had support for this from Krikalev, but some Russian space officials believed their earlier Mir space station had earned that honor. The new station, they believed, ought to be named “Beta.” NASA, too, had not signed off on this designation.

Nevertheless, Shepherd pressed ahead. He liked that Alpha was the first letter of the Greek alphabet, neither American nor Russian. So on the crew's first day aboard the station, during a space-to-ground call with NASA Administrator Dan Goldin, Shepherd said over the public loop, The first expedition on the space station requests permission to take the radio call sign Alpha.”

  • Astronaut Richard Arnold II - W. David Baird Distinguished Lecture Series

Astronaut Richard Arnold flew aboard the STS-119 Discovery from March 15 to March 28, 2009. This was the 125th shuttle flight, the 36th flight of Discovery, and the 28th shuttle flight to the International Space Station. During this mission, Arnold accumulated 12 hours and 34 minutes of extravehicular activity during two spacewalks. When Discovery landed it had traveled 202 orbits and 5.3 million miles in almost 13 days. Previously Arnold served on a joint mission between NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NEEMO 13 (NASA Extreme Environment Mission Objectives), where he lived and worked in and around Aquarius, the world's only undersea laboratory. Before joining NASA, Arnold taught middle school science in Maryland, following teaching jobs in Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Romania. Arnold holds a BS from Frostburg State University and an MS from the University of Maryland. He is also a proud Pepperdine parent.

Can we genetically modify astronauts? Using genetic engineering biotechnology on astronauts is something being researched right now. With the world looking at putting humans on Mars and colonising the red planet, with NASA and Elon Musk's SpaceX both hoping to be there by the 2030s, the future of astronauts might be changing forever. How will astronauts survive a trip to mars? How will humans live on mars? What problems come with long duration space flight? And how do we solve them? Genetic engineering using technology like CRISPR might solve the future of space travel by speeding up human evolution and make us a multi-planet species. Future astronauts could be very different.

  • 4 Things That Happens To Astronauts While In Space

4 things that happens to astronauts while in space. We take a look at what happens to astronauts while in space.

When recruiting astronauts to begin a long term scientific endeavor or missions into the zero gravity nature of space, the national aeronautics and space administration takes an incredible amount of variables into account to ensure the safety and the longevity of the mission.

For as long as research plans have continued over the many decades that astronauts have been tasked with conducting scientific missions in space, the continued research into the effects of isolation, zero gravity and the environment of the vacuum of the surrounding space on the human mind and body have been gathered to better understand exactly what it is that astronauts must endure. So today, here at unexplained mysteries, we will be going over 4 things that happen to astronauts while in space and the effects this has on the health of these individuals.

  • 10 Bizarre Problems Astronauts Have To Deal With In Space

Subscribe for a new video ►►

10.An astronaut has to hook his sleeping bag to a wall so he doesn't float around all over the place and collide with things. He also has to make sure he's near a ventilation system or he ends up surrounded by his own exhaled carbon dioxide.

    9. Hey, we all know when we gotta go, and it even wakes us up at times to take care of business. But in space, urine does not hit the bottom of the bladder in low gravity. The urge to go is only triggered when the bladder is completely full. To bypass an emergency, astronauts are trained to relieve themselves every two hours.

    8. The actual smell of things can change in space. That's why NASA has a professional sniffer team to check whether something will smell bad aboard the spacecraft. Cause if it smells bad, they stuck with it. And some of those smells in space can even be toxic. NASA certifies its sniffers' noses every four months.

    7. Liu Yang became China's first woman in space in 2012. She was required to be married, to have given natural childbirth, and have no decaying teeth nor scars. Yang was in space for 12 days.

    6. So what would happen if an astronaut LOST IT, in space? NASA has some protocol for that. If that were to happen, crewmates are commanded to bind that person's wrists, tie him down and inject him with tranquilizers, if necessary.

    5. Adapting to space is called the Space Adaptation Syndrome, which is a fancy way to say “throwing up”.... and astronauts can be likely to do that. And as soon as they get used to THAT they have to re-enter Earth's atmosphere and re-adapt, which can be just as unpleasant.

    4. Typically, fungi is not associated with anything really good. But scientists have discovered fungi can use radioactivity as an energy source for spurring food growth. In time, astronauts may be relying on it.

    3. Insurance companies aren't real thrilled to put up a bunch of money on an astronaut because of the obvious... A LOT of danger. So many astronauts in the past have signed postal covers to their families that could bring in significant values should something go terribly wrong during their missions.

    2. Many astronauts – 22 to be exact – have lost their fingernails due to extreme pressure on their hands and fingers during spacewalks. This effect has prompted some astronauts to purposely remove their own fingernails before taking to space.

    1. It costs quite a bit of money to transport drinking water to astronauts on the international space station. So, to curb that cost, astronauts are going Bear Grylls. If you've ever watched survivalist Bear Grylls, you know that he sometimes drinks his own urine when there is no drinkable water available. Astronauts are now tasked with urinating into a distillation system that purifies it so they can drink it. Uhhhh... Houston.... we have a problem......
And with that, the closest I'm getting into space is a flight to Orlando to watch people get on the Space Mountain ride.

  • First chicken nugget sent into SPACE joins iconic astronauts in the history books

Iconic astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Tim Peake have been joined in the history books - by a CHICKEN NUGGET.

These pictures show what is believed to be the first ever chicken nugget sent into space, reaching heights of more 110,000 feet above Earth - about 880,000 chicken nuggets high.

A team of experts in the field of stratospheric exploration created the perfect vessel for the nugget to travel in.

It was sent into space using a meteorological weather balloon filled with a gas that’s lighter than air to be able to carry the clucking cargo up to the stratosphere.
Using a custom designed launch vehicle including primary avionics, auxiliary satellite tracking and integrated camera support system taking video footage, the lone nugget was launched out of the Earth’s atmosphere.

The nugget was sent star bound from a location close to supermarket Iceland’s head office in Deeside, North Wales, to mark its 50th birthday.

This follows a hugely successful year for the retailer which saw Kantar name it the fastest growing high street supermarket with a 20.1 per cent year on year growth.

Chicken nuggets have remained a staple in the frozen aisle throughout Iceland’s 50-year history, with more than 10 million chicken nuggets, chunks and strips sold last week alone.

Andrew Staniland, trading director at Iceland, said: “2020 is a huge year for us as we celebrate our 50th birthday, and we wanted to find ways to mark the occasion, just like anyone celebrating a birthday in lockdown.

  • Astronaut loses mirror, newest space junk

(26 Jun 2020) FOR CLEAN VERSION SEE STORY NUMBER: apus138811

A spacewalking astronaut added to the millions of pieces of junk orbiting the Earth on Friday, losing a small mirror as soon as he stepped out of the International Space Station for battery work.
Commander Chris Cassidy said the mirror floated away at about a foot per second.
Mission Control said the mirror somehow became detached from Cassidy's spacesuit. The lost item posed no risk to either the spacewalk or the station, NASA said.
While millions of pieces of space debris orbit Earth, more than 20,000 items including old rocket parts and busted satellites are big enough to be tracked in order to safeguard the space station and functional satellites.
Spacewalking astronauts wear a wrist mirror on each sleeve to get better views while working. The mirror is just 5 inches by 3 inches, and together with its band has a mass of barely one-tenth of a pound.
The mirror came loose in darkness. Later, once he was in sunlight, Cassidy inspected his sleeve for clues that might explain how the mirror came off. There's no thread damage or anything like that, he told Mission Control.
Cassidy and Bob Behnken, who followed him out without mishap, conducted the first of at least four spacewalks to replace the last bunch of old station batteries.
Once the six new lithium-ion batteries are installed, the orbiting lab should be good for the rest of its operational life, according to NASA. The big, boxy batteries — more powerful and efficient than the old nickel-hydrogen batteries coming out — keep the station humming when it's on the night side of Earth.
The battery replacements began in 2017, with previous crews putting in 18 lithium-ion batteries, half as many as the old ones replaced.
Cassidy and Behnken have six more to plug in before the job is complete. It's cumbersome work: Each battery is about a yard (meter) tall and wide, with a mass of 400 pounds (180 kilograms).
Their spacewalks are expected to continue through July before Behnken returns to Earth in August aboard a SpaceX Dragon capsule.
Behnken and Doug Hurley made history at the end of May with SpaceX's first astronaut launch.
This was the seventh spacewalk for both men. Each has spent more than 30 hours out in the vacuum of space.
