  • 10 Mysterious Discoveries Found Frozen In Ice!

From a dino popsicle to ice mummies found wrapped in bark – plus a new discovery of life beneath the Antarctic ice shelf! Here are ten amazing things recently found frozen in ice!

    10: Iron Age Horse
In the frozen wasteland of Norway, a melting glacier has revealed an exceptional specimen – an Iron Age horse that dates back to the days of the Vikings. According to Lars Pilo, the head of snow archaeology for the Oppland Council, the new horse specimen shows that the old Vikings were using horses to transport goods through the snowy mountains.

    9: The Bark-Wrapped Mummies
The remains of an amazing medieval mummy bundled tightly in a cocoon of birch bark and buried in a pit filled with ice and copper was just found – yet again! – in the melting permafrost of Siberia, near to the site of an old village that used to belong to a mysterious and widely undocumented arctic civilization.

8: The Frozen Dragon of the North
In Canada, a new type of dragon has been discovered frozen in the ice, and it’s about as big as a small aircraft. Of course, this isn’t a dragon in the real sense. It’s only a flying reptile that lived during the Cretaceous period about 76 million years ago. It was found buried deep in the ice, and scientists have now learned that it had a massive wingspan of 33 feet (10m).

    7: Mammoth DNA
In breaking archaeological news, scientists have just sequenced the oldest DNA in the known world. They used material dating back from the Middle Pleistocene sub-epoch, which they obtained from the remains of an ancient mammoth found buried in the Siberian permafrost. This new DNA sequence has proved once and for all that DNA is able to survive for over 1 million years while frozen in ice.

6: Relics from the Ice Age
Between the years 536 and 660, the earth was trapped inside of a miniature ice age, with freezing cold temperatures all throughout the Northern Hemisphere. These unbearable years became known as The Terrible Winter, in which no true summer ever came. Now, archaeological evidence has surfaced from this very period, revealing how those in Norway survived the century of bone-chilling cold and bleak harvests.

    5: Cave Lion Cubs
A pair of extinct cave lions have just been found in the permafrost in Siberia, and they have been described as the “best-preserved cave lions ever seen,” according to the Academy of Sciences of Yakutia. The cubs were found in the Sakha Republic, the coldest and vastest region of Russia, where most of the land is covered in ice thousands of years old.

    4: An Ancient Lunchbox
One of the oldest and most spectacular artifacts was just found in the freezing ice of Switzerland’s Lotschenpass, nearly 9000 feet above sea level. The discovery was revealed in the scientific paper: Scientific Reports. It was an old, circular box only a few inches wide, crafted from willow and pine and lashed together with twigs.

    3: Dinosaur Popsicle
In the frigid and frozen mountains of Antarctica, researchers have discovered a dinosaur popsicle. Paleontologists had to literally camp on the ice for over 60 days to get the dino popsicle out from the ice, and they had to get down again with their specimen by using a helicopter.

    2: Martian Minerals
Early in 2021, researchers from the University of Milan found an insane Martian mineral hidden in the Antarctic ice. It all started when scientists took an ice core sample with the intention of learning more about Earth’s truly ancient past, and maybe even finding evidence of the oldest ice on Earth.

1: Life Beneath the Antarctic Ice Shelf
We’re going back to Antarctica for our last frozen discovery, but this one pertains to a new and strange lifeform just discovered by scientists after drilling 3000 feet (900m) into the ice. They did this at the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf, over 100 miles (160km) from the nearest ocean. As you can imagine, not many creatures have been found in such an inhospitable environment, literally thousands of feet beneath the surface of the ice in some of the coldest and remotest waters on ice.

  • 10 Strange Things Found Frozen In Ice Antarctica

Antarctica is one of the most mysterious places on Earth. ☃️ It’s the coldest location ever discovered, with an average temperature of -58ºF and an occasional drop to as low as -128.5ºF. ❄️ In addition, this continent remains the least explored. Antarctica has no time zones, no countries, and only 2 ATMs. We're gonna tell you about 10 mysterious and bizarre findings that have been discovered in the ice of Antarctica.

    Elongated skulls 2:42
    An ancient meteorite 3:28
    Ancient fossils 4:19

    - This was a truly shocking discovery: 3 elongated skulls were found in Antarctica in 2014. These skulls were the first human remains uncovered in Antarctica.
    - For the last 50 years, people have found more than 10,000 meteorites in Antarctica. Some of them are more than 700,000 years old.
    - It turns out that dinosaurs used to live in Antarctica! Since the ‘80s, scientists have discovered almost a ton of fossils there. Most of these remains are more than 71 million years old.
    - Archaeologists made another amazing discovery in 2009: the ice of Antarctica had been hiding the fossilized remains of a unique creature. It was the size of a modern cat, but, unlike our popular pets, the animal was egg-laying.
    - An unaware onlooker might easily believe that the Taylor Glacier is leaking blood. Terrifying blood-red liquid indeed flows over the ice and falls into the sea. Luckily, the origin of this water isn't dramatic at all. This unusual waterfall contains so much iron oxide that it makes the water look like blood.
    - While Antartica is a snow-covered continent, you probably wouldn’t associate it with a lack of water. However, this land is home to one of the driest locations on our planet: the Dry Valleys.
    - 2 boxes of excellent Scotch whiskey were hidden in the ice of Antarctica for more than 100 years. After archaeologists discovered this unexpected treasure, they didn't remove it from its ice trap immediately because they were afraid of damaging their finding.
    - At a depth of 1,100 ft, American archaeologists made a truly terrifying discovery — they came across an unknown creature that didn't resemble any other living being known to people.
    - Scientists know of approximately 400 lakes in Antarctica. Due to incredible pressure, water stays liquid even when its temperature is below the standard freezing point.
    - In 1914, the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition began. Its aim was to cross the icy continent from one side to the other. 2 ships participated in the voyage. Tragically, one of them got stuck in the ice and was crushed.

    Incredible Recent Discoveries in Antarctica!
Antarctica is one of the least explored regions in the world, but it’s not because we’re not trying. The
harsh, freezing conditions make any exploration quite difficult. That’s why it’s only recently that the
frozen continent has revealed some of its secrets. Number one is quite the amazing discovery so make
sure you stay tuned for that as we give you just some of the most incredible recent discoveries in

    A Giant Ice Cave
Imagine a giant cave under the ice around two thirds the size of Manhattan and nearly a thousand feet
tall. Hard to believe that such a thing exists? Well it does, and it’s growing larger and more menacing
    every day.
This giant void is hiding under the Antarctic ice at the bottom of the Thwaites Glacier in West Antarctica
was just recently discovered using satellite images of the area. Scientists thought there might be some
gaps between Thwaites Glacier and the bedrock below it, where ocean water could flow in and melt the
icy glacier above it. But even they found the immensity and speed of the void's growth surprising.
For starters, the void is large enough to have once held 15 billion tons of ice, but, according to NASA
scientists, much of that ice has melted during the past three years. Thwaites Glacier is about the size of
Florida and currently responsible for roughly 4 percent of global sea rise. If the entire glacier melted, the
resulting water could raise world ocean levels by more than 2 feet.

    Unexpected Residents
Antarctica would be the last place you’d expect to find dinosaur fossils. But believe it or not, dinosaurs
did really live there for a time. Long ago, Antarctica was a much warmer place, home to dinosaurs and
lush plant life. Even before the dinosaurs roamed, an iguana-like Triassic reptile called the Antarctica
Scientists announced the discovery of the reptile, dubbed Antarctanax shackletoni, just last year. The
250 million-year-old creature was an archosaur, a precursor to the lineage that would branch into
dinosaurs, pterosaurs and crocodilians. This animal probably grew to 4 to 5 feet long, and scuttled
around what was then the Antarctic forest floor.
Not only that, Antarctica was also home to the world's heaviest elasmosaurid, a plesiosaur of the genus
Aristonectes. Paleontologists discovered the long-necked sea creature on Antarctica's Seymour Island in
1989, but they weren't able to finish excavating the enormous fossil until 2017. They ultimately pulled
1,760 pounds of fossilized bone off the island.
While it was alive, the Antarctic Loch Ness monster would have been 36 feet long and weighed in at a
hefty 15 tons. The creature lived only a few tens of thousands of years before the Cretaceous-Paleogene
extinction 66 million years ago, when an asteroid collided with Earth and wiped out the non-avian

    A Rare Lava Lake
Antarctica seems to be a weird place to find a lake full of lava, but that is what researchers actually
found in the icy South Sandwich Islands in the Antarctic Ocean. The lake is anywhere in between 300 to
700 feet across and temperature of the lava could be more than 1,000 degrees Celsius.
Researchers actually found this fiery lake quite a few years ago in an active volcano, but was only
recently able to confirm its existence thanks to higher quality satellite photos.
Lava lakes are actually a rare occurrence and only seven other such lakes are known to exist in the
world. they can be found in volcanoes in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Vanuatu, Hawaii
    and Nicaragua.

    Singing Ice
Researchers on Antarctica's Ross Ice Shelf have recorded the slow seismic hum generated by wind forces
whipping across the ice sheet's frozen landscape. The scientists liken it to 'singing', but to our ears the
creepy dirge of Antarctic ice shelf vibrations sounds more like the sinister score of a horror movie.
The frequency detected is far too low for the human ear to hear naturally, but when it's sped up some
1,200 times, what emerges is an eerie soundtrack of restlessness hidden within the bleak polar isolation.
The sound has been likened to the sounds of a flute, but go and have a listen for yourselves and tell us
    what you think.

The researchers actually came across this seismic hum by accident while researching a totally different
thing. As the world keeps getting catastrophically hotter, Antarctic ice shelves are beginning to
    dramatically collapse and break apart.

Welcome back, Richest fans! We’re delighted to see you once again! The earth has been around for a long, long time. It’s believed to be over four and a half billion years old! As a result, many creatures that once roamed the planet are no longer around. While we occasionally find fossils, it can be a rare occurrence. However, due to global warming stripping away the ice that once covered portions of the planet, we’re now finding vital pieces of the earth’s history. Such as in Russia, Siberia, Chile, and Canada. Permafrost is an area of ice that has remained in that state for at least two years. With those areas being thawed out, items lost to the decades are also being found once again. Today, we’re going to look at the most interesting items that were found in the frozen land.
If you don’t want the video to be spoiled, here’s the obligatory “spoiler warning”. So, what can you expect to see in this content? Well, we have the treasure of precious stones that was found in the French Alps! As well as some items dating back thousands of years. We also have entries involving a Woolly Mammoth named Lyuba. There’s also Sasha, the Woolly Rhino or Rhinoceros. We also have some information about Iceland’s ice volcanoes. There are some ancient seeds that made a comeback, too! We also have a range of dinosaurs like Ichthyosaurs, the Ankylosaurus, and the Nodosaur. There’s also a message in a bottle from Paul T. Walker. The impressive Lake Vostok. And finally, we have frozen nematodes or roundworms. A collection of ancient microscopic worms. So, join us today to learn a bit about our world’s history!

  • Most MYSTERIOUS Things Found Frozen in Ice

Over time, ice caps and glaciers have begun melting – some at alarming rates – revealing the most incredible things hidden in its depths. Even an unexpected cold front can freeze anything in its path! Today we have a look at some mysterious things found frozen in ice, and some not so mysterious, but still incredible to witness… just like our first entry!

    10 - Let it grow…
This is reminiscent of the movie Ice Age, because a team of Russian scientists have found seeds of a Siberian flowering plant that was buried by an Ice Age squirrel. The seeds are 32,000-years-old and the team are currently trying to grow what could potentially be the world’s oldest-known plant! Good luck guys!

    9 - UFO – Unidentified Frozen Object…
Ufologists have a huge interest in places like Antarctica or the Arctic circle due to their wide-open spaces, and of course there are few prying eyes, so they believe it either to be a great spot for secret operations by government to take place or a place where the aliens can land without detection.

    8 - The big melt…
In our day and age, there is the odd occasion where we stumble upon an odd shoe, a single sock or any other piece of random clothing, but it would appear that’s nothing new. Melting glaciers have also revealed random items of clothing, like this tunic for example, that dates back to somewhere between 230 and 390 AD.

    7 - Lost and found…
It’s believed there are hundreds of corpses still buried in the ice and snow in the Swiss Alps, and not too long ago, the frozen body of a man who had been missing for 30-years was found. They don’t share his name, but the German man had been on a hike in 1987, but was wearing inappropriate footwear. It’s believed that he slipped and fell into a crevice and that’s where he remained. Just a week prior, the bodies of Marcelin and Francine Dumoulin were also discovered, and they had been missing for 75-years!

    6 - Well-Spotted…
There are many that find drones a little too invasive, but a drone flew over Lake Michigan, and it was thanks to the drone that this container ship was spotted. The ship was frozen solid and was certainly not going anywhere in a hurry!

    5 - Cold as ice…
This is definitely not the kind of message in a bottle we’re used to, instead of being thrown into the ocean, this one was buried into the rocks near a glacier. It was tucked away in 1959 by a Paul Walker, and no not thee Paul Walker, but another one. It was no love letter, but instructions for the finder to measure the distance between the glacier where it was hidden, and wherever it turned up. In 54-years, there was a 233-foot difference.

    4 - Just Chill…
Remarkable footage has emerged of a 12,400-year-old puppy that was discovered on the banks of the River Syalakh in Russia. A man by the name of Will Stewart captured this image of the puppy. Scientists thawed the extinct puppy out and were amazed to find it still had its teeth and the brain was intact. The team are trying to decide if this was a family pet and while they’re doing that, controversial South Korean cloning guru Hwang Woo-suk, took samples in the hope of bringing the species back to life! It’s only a matter of time before we learn more information about this remarkable ice discovery.

    3 - Chilled to the bone…
Brad Webster was hiking with a mate near a small village on the Western Coast of Alaska when he made this grim discovery. The photos shown here were taken by Webster’s friend, Jeff Erickson. In the ice were 2 bull moose, frozen mid battle! The antlers were locked together, and it’s believed the pair may have drowned in the icy water. It’s definitely not something you see every day! And thank goodness for that!

    2 - Cold Comfort…
Here’s another Swiss Alps mystery solved. Three brothers went missing 86-years ago, and their remains were found by two British climbers. The climbers found skulls, boots, and all sorts of climbing accessories. The brothers departed on their journey in 1926 and were never seen again. Although it’s not quite clear what exactly happened out there, family members that have heard the tale of their missing family members, are said to be comforted by the knowledge that the bodies were found.

    10. Blue Babe
During the summer of 1979, a family of gold miners was using a hydraulic hose to melt frozen ground near Fairbanks, Alaska. In the melted mud they uncovered the remains of what turned out to be the mummified carcass of a steppe bison (Bison priscus).

In 2018, a resident of the Yakutia region (also called the Sakha Republic) named Pavel Efimov discovered the well-preserved remains of a cave lion cub in melting permafrost along the Tirekhtykh River. Scientists determined that the baby big cat died around 43,500 years ago at just a month old, before it was old enough to open its eyes.

    8. Giant Wolf Head
Pavel Efimov, the same local resident who found a nearly 50,000-year-old cave lion named Spartak in 2018, discovered a prehistoric severed wolf’s head in northern Yakutia’s Abyisky district the same year. The adult wolf was likely between two and four years old when it died around 32,000 years ago, according to scientists, who were tasked with examining the animal.

    7. Horned Lark
While exploring the Siberian wilderness with two mammoth tusk hunters in September 2018, evolutionary geneticist Love Dalén had the privilege witnessing first-hand their discovery of a perfectly-preserved Ice Age bird in the permafrost. The small feathered flier looked, in Dalén’s words, “like it [had] died just a few days ago.”

In 2018, a team of paleontologists found a mummified horse foal in the 328-foot (100 meters) deep Bataiga Crater during an expedition in eastern Siberia. Its skin, hooves, and tail were still intact, thanks to the frozen conditions preserving the young creature’s remains.

A shocking 2018 study revealed that scientists had successfully revived two worm species that spent tens of thousands of years in a state of ‘suspended animation’ of sorts, frozen in the Siberian permafrost. The team’s findings, which were published in the journal Doklady Biological Sciences, details how the microscopic nematodes constitute the first known example of multicellular organisms returning to life after spending such a long time in a Siberian deep freeze.

As we all grapple with the realities of the coronavirus pandemic, it probably seems absolutely insane that anyone would want to revive a long-dead virus. But that’s exactly what happened in 2014, when a team led by evolutionary biologist Jean-Michel Claverie revived two viruses that were found frozen 100 feet (30.5 meters) underground in the Siberian permafrost.

    3. LYUBA
In 2007, a reindeer herder in northwestern Siberia’s Yamal Peninsula, named Yuri Khudi, discovered the corpse of an animal he’d heard of, but never seen first-hand. That’s because the astonishingly well-preserved carcass belonged to a baby mammoth, who choked to death on mud around 40,000 years ago after falling into water. She was one month old at the time. Scientists named her Lyuba, after her discoverer’s wife.

    2. DOGOR
During the summer of 2018, mammoth tusk hunters exploring northeast of Yakutsk, Siberia discovered the surprisingly well-preserved remains of a prehistoric puppy in a lump of frozen mud. Scientists nicknamed it ‘Dogor.’

    1. CAVE BEAR
Earlier this year, scientists from the North-Eastern Federal University in Yakutsk announced the discovery of a remarkably well-preserved Ice Age cave bear on Siberia’s Bolshoy Lyakhovsky Island. Quick-thinking reindeer herders happened upon the creature and contacted the university, realizing that time was of the essence when it came to preserving the bear’s remains.

    10: Hidden Treasure
Everyone wants to find hidden treasure. Unfortunately, this is something that doesn't normally happen. But in 2013, an anonymous mountain climber stumbled upon a small box that contained 100 precious jewels, including emerald, rubies, and sapphires!! A mountain climber! Can you believe it?? According to a report by the BBC, the small box that this mountain climber found was worth roughly $300,000.

    9: Iron Age Artifacts
Global warming is having some pretty strange effects on the earth. With all this ice melting, so many artifacts that were previously lost are now being revealed. Some of these artifacts are from as far back as the Iron Age. It has been reported that with Norway's glaciers quickly melting, archaeologists have found over 2,000 artifacts alone from the Iron Age, thawed out of the ice.

    8: Fish Eating Fish
Some things found in the ice are strange, some of them are scientifically outstanding, and some are just fun. A recent discovery by two brothers who were fishing in Wawasee Lake in Indiana has taken the Internet by storm. These two brothers found a fish frozen in the ice right in the middle of its meal.

    7: Lake Vostok
Lake vostok is another example of the incredible landscapes buried beneath the ice of Antarctica. Back in 2012, a team of Russian scientists drilled through about 2 miles (3km) of ice and found something quite unexpected. Rather than drilling into more ice, scientists discovered Lake Vostok, the biggest subglacial lake on the continent.

6: Graveyard of the Fish Lizards
Dinosaurs are always one of the most exciting parts of scientific history. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. Of course, ice dinosaurs sound even cooler. Every dinosaur find is exciting in its own way, but a recent Cretaceous graveyard discovered perfectly preserved inside of a glacier down in Chile is an absolutely astonishing find.

    5: Otzi the Ice Man
There's nothing stranger to find frozen in the ice than an actual human person. His name is Otzi, and he was discovered by two hikers when they were on holiday in Austria in 1991. When they first discovered the man frozen in ice, the two holidaymakers reported him as being the victim of a mountaineering accident. But they had no clue that the man they had discovered was extremely ancient.

4: Warriors of the White War
One of the most brutal battles fought in World War One – or in fact in any war ever – was known as the White War, and it happened high up in the Italian Alps with temperatures that were way below freezing. As reported by Daily Mail, the fighting in the Alps went on for more than three years and killed over 1 million people.

    3: The Grasshopper Glacier
Montana is famous for more than just its delicious food. In this state you can find some of the most beautiful glaciers and ice fields in the world. And you will also find a place known as Grasshopper Glacier, an enormous glacier over a mile long (1.5km) and a half a mile (0.75km) wide.

    2: Hidden Mountains
If you try to picture Antarctica in your mind, you will probably picture a flat landscape of frozen ice and snow. But this is actually an optical illusion. Buried beneath the countless miles of ice are all kinds of incredible features. One of the most impressive is an enormous mountain range almost completely submerged by ice.

    1: Anthrax Outbreak
The number one discovery from under the ice is surprisingly quite similar to the bacteria entombed in Lake Vostok. In 2016, a terrible heat wave thawed a lot of the ice in western Siberia. With the ice thawed, many buried secrets were revealed. One of the more dangerous finds was a reindeer carcass that had been frozen for at least several decades.

  • 10 Shocking Things Found Frozen In Ice

When it comes to things that have been under ice, the list gets a tad too long. From the ancient Vikings sword to preserved hippo not forgetting a sunken ship that is full of treasure. These are some of the more obvious things. More interestingly are animals that have the mechanism to freeze themselves during the cold harsh seasons and unfreeze when the warm weather resumes.

Other than frozen animals the next best thing is frozen treasure and boy have we seen some big bucks; there were some 10 million dollars at some point and another time a random box that had jewelry worth $300,000. How about we set back with a warm cup of coffee and venture into the frozen world.

  • 10 Creepiest Things Found Frozen In Ice!

From a BIG prehistoric brain to dangerous substances getting thawed out, here are ten of the creepiest things ever found frozen in ice.

    Subscribe to Epic Wildlife

    10. A Mummified Head
For a number of years now, archaeologists have been uncovering mummy after mummy from the frozen remnants of a necropolis located in Zeleniy Yar site, Salekhard in Russia. For a while, they thought that the graveyard may have only been intended for men and children. However, in 2017, they uncovered the frozen, mummified remains of a woman.

    9. Mummies Of The Franklin Expedition
If you’ve watched “The Terror”, then you will be familiar with this next one. In the 1840s, two ships sailed to the Arctic to find the Northwest passage. However, after the ships ended up frozen in ice, the expedition took a sharp and sour turn. After enough time, as food became scarce and the crew became increasingly impacted with lead poisoning, members of the expedition had to search long and hard for food… and some turned to eating each other.

    8. Lost Inca Children
In 1999, Archaeologists came across a spooky discovery in the ice. Found in Llullaillaco, an Argentenian volcano, they uncovered the remains of three Incan children who appeared to be part of a sacrificial ritual, and then nature took its course, freezing them solid at the summit of the volcano.

    7. Viruses
Deep inside the Tibetan Plateau, there are some exceedingly strange inhabitants. Researchers determined as much, when they recently excavated two samples of ice from a glacier and found 33 strands of viruses, 28 ancient ones of which science has never seen.

    6. Military Transport Aircraft
If something gets frozen in ice and we find it years later, you would expect it to have been something that passed us right by… something small, that we could forget about. But this isn’t the case with respect to the C-124 Globemaster, a military transport plane that plummeted into Mount Gannett, a glacier about 50 miles away from Anchorage, Alaska, in 1952, taking the 52 crew members aboard down with it.

    5. Mummified Wooly Mammoth
In August 2010, archaeologists uncovered the well preserved remains of a 39,000 year old wooly mammoth from the permafrost around Yukagir, Russia. They now lovingly refer to the mammoth as Yuka. Astoundingly, the remains of this creature also include a completely mummified brain; this is the only nearly whole brain from a wooly mammoth discovered to date.

    4. Frozen Pike Eating Bass Fish
It was a cold-sunny morning in Indiana, when two brothers went out fishing on the Wawasee Lake. They saw something strange in the ice… A fish eating another fish!! They posted a picture of the strange sight on social media, and naturally, people thought it was photoshopped!! They got what appeared to be a pike eating a bass whole!! Somehow these two fish had been frozen solid in the middle of the act.

    3. Anthrax Reindeer
Ice is good at preserving things, like mammoths and viruses, and some are scarier than others.
In 2016, Russia was forced to cope with an outbreak of anthrax that came from somewhere deep in Siberia.

    2. An Entire Mountain Range
That might sound unbelievable, but the towering Gamburtsev mountain range is about as big as the European Alps, all while being hidden under nearly two miles of ice. The Gamburtsev mountains are around 100 million years old. Because of erosion, they should look more like the rolling mountains of Appalachia right now. But for some reason, they are still youthful.

    1. Ötzi The Iceman
In 1991, two mountaineers were hiking the Ötztal Alps on the Austrian-Italian border when they came upon what they thought to be the body of a recently dead hiker, entirely frozen in ice. However, when researchers recovered the body, they discovered that this was not a recent death – rather, he had been dead for around five thousand years, which means: he lived before the Egyptian Pyramids were built!!

  • 10 Animals Found Frozen In Ice

10 Animals Found Frozen in Ice!

We’ve all seen the documentaries with archaeologists carefully using a small
brush to dust away dirt from the remains of some long-dead creature. Finding the
brittle remnants of an extinct animal is pretty typical in this field. But once in a
while, researchers and tourists discover remains that are so well preserved that
they earn a spotlight of their own. Today we are going to show you 10 animals
found frozen in ice, but before watching the video don’t forget to subscribe to our

    10_ The Yuka Mammoth

Though researchers have found multiple specimens of well-preserved woolly
mammoths in the past, Yuka is by far the more strikingly well-preserved to date.
The remains of this 1.8-meter (6 ft) baby woolly mammoth were accidentally
discovered in August 2010 in Yakutia, a remote region of Siberia. The animal was
between six and nine years old when it died, and its carcass is estimated to be
about 39,000 years old. Researchers say that Yuka was most likely killed by
humans since the remains show signs of having been cut open. That makes Yuka
the first woolly mammoth that shows evidence of interactions with humans. The
animal also has the most well-preserved woolly mammoth brain ever discovered,
with the folds and blood vessels still intact, Yuka is so well preserved, in fact, that
scientists are seriously discussing using her DNA to clone the species back into
existence. We guess the researchers didn’t learn anything from Jurassic Park.

    9_ Moose

It’s rare enough to find an animal preserved in ice, but rarer still is the apparent
freezing of two animals when they’re interacting with each other. Well, this is

what a couple of hikers found in Alaska in 2016. Beneath 8 inches of ice was the
stunning sight of two moose fighting each other, clearly so engrossed in their
tussle that they failed to notice the approaching frost.

In the fall, males tend to be more aggressive towards each other, likely due to
territorial disputes or to gain the attention of a female, and at some point, these
two managed to get their antlers tangled. They probably drowned in the cold
water before being frozen over as temperatures fell. Soon after their discovery,
the moose were removed from the ice by local enthusiasts who wanted to
    preserve the unusual find forever.

    8_ Fish

As a fish living in water, ice can be both a blessing and a curse. It’s the unique
property of ice floating on top of water that helps to insulate warmth and allow
fish to survive falling temperatures, but they aren’t always so lucky. In 2014, a
sharp cold eastern wind sent temperatures plummeting very quickly around the
island of Lovund in Norway, and instantly froze parts of the ocean.
Unfortunately for a large shoal of fish, thought to be attempting to escape a
predator at the time, there was no chance to avoid the approaching ice, and they
were frozen in place. The ice sheet was so thick that it was perfectly safe for
people to walk across, and capture these amazing images of thousands of fish
frozen in time. This event had a major impact on the local ecosystem because
birds were unable to find any food, so the skies were strangely silent until the ice
    finally thawed.

    7_ Yukagir Bison

Siberia is one of the coldest places on earth that has been regularly inhabited for
millennia. This makes it the perfect place to find frozen animals like the Yuka

mammoth, and close by there was another discovery in 2011, the mummified
remains of a Steppe Bison- the ancestor to the modern bison. Discovered by a
tribe in the Yana-Indigirka Lowland, the bison was remarkably intact, with its brain
and other organs almost perfectly preserved.
This is the most complete Steppe Bison ever to be found and has allowed
researchers to extensively study its brain, heart, digestive system and blood
vessels, despite it being well over 9000 years old. With no visible signs of injury, it
is thought that the lack of body fat around its abdomen is a clue as to how it died.
Most likely from starvation as a result of the rapidly changing environment in the
    area at the time.

    6_ Selerikan Pony

In 1968, gold miners digging tunnels, about 30 feet below the surface of the
Indigirka River in Siberia, found something surprising- two legs and a tail of a pony
sticking through the roof of one of their tunnels. Experts were called in from the
Zoological Institute of St. Petersburg to help recover the full animal, which they
managed to do, apart from its head.
The body turned out to be of a Przewalski Horse that nowadays is only found in
Mongolia, and amazingly this one appeared to have died about 35,000 years ago.
Analysis of the remains suggested that the horses lived relatively similar then to
    how they still do today.

    9. Viking Sword
In late 2017, reindeer hunters discovered a 1,100-year-old Viking-era sword between two large rocks in the mountains of Oppland in Norway. They made the incredible find at an altitude of 5,380 feet (1,640 meters) -- most likely constituting the highest elevation a Viking sword has ever been discovered.

    8. Antarctic Oasis
In 2017, scientists from the Australian National University announced the discovery of a warm oasis located throughout a web of hidden ice caves beneath Mount Erebus. Temperatures sit at around 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 Celsius) within the subterranean system, thanks to a comfortable combination of the volcano’s extreme heat and the blistering Antarctic cold.

    7. Largest-Ever ‘Sea Monster’ Fossil
A late 2019 study published in the journal Cretaceous Research details the discovery of the largest-known elasmosaur on a remote island off the Antarctic Peninsula. Researchers believe the creature hailed from the Aristonectes genus, whose fossilized remains differ noticeably from those of other elasmosaurs, with shorter necks and larger skulls.

    6. Antarctic Explorer’s Journal
Explorer George Murray Levick, a young surgeon, participated in Robert Falcon Scott’s 1910-1913 British Antarctic Expedition, also known as the Terra Nova mission, as a member of the Northern Party. The explorers aimed to become the first to reach the South Pole, but not only did the competing Amundsen party beat Scott’s team there, some of Scott's Southern Party crew never made it back home.

    5. Massive Valleys
In recent years, scientists discovered three incredibly vast valleys hidden beneath hundreds of feet of Antarctic Ice. The findings comprise the first batch of data yielded in the European Space Agency (ESA) funded PolarGAP project, which began in 2015 and aimed to better understand the South Pole’s geography and gravity field.

    4. Steppe Bison Remains
In 2011, members of northern Siberia’s Yukagir tribe discovered the nearly perfectly-preserved remains of a steppe bison (Bison priscus). The remains, belonging to a four-year-old male are estimated to be about 10,000 years old and represent the most complete specimen of the species in the world!!

    3. Pegasus Wreckage
On October 8, 1970, pilots flying the Pegasus, a C-121 Lockheed Constellation plane, were faced with a tough decision: whether or not to fly onward in the face of a fierce oncoming Antarctic storm, or not. Due to a fuel shortage, flying back to New Zealand was not an option, so the pilots continued along their planned route.

    2. Ancient Rainforest
Around 90 million years ago, during the Cretaceous Period, Antarctica contained a thriving, swampy rainforest full of vegetation, standing in stark contrast to the seemingly lifeless modern-day landscape.

    1. Frolicking Fish
A photograph of frozen fish embedded in a four-foot (1.2 meters) wall of ice went viral in 2017, nearly two years after it originally appeared on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Wildlife Refuge System Facebook page. Yikes! That's not very catchy. The image displays dead fish positioned in numerous directions and at various angles, appearing as if they had suddenly frozen into place one day.

Hey YouTube, Jim here! Welcome to Top10Archive! Ice is often underrated, especially compared to fire. Fire can burn, destroy, renew, and it’s often seen as more powerful. However, ice can also burn, destroy, renew, and even preserve! Perhaps, we’ve been underestimating freezing as a weapon - patent pending. Not everything that’s preserved should be, though, and sometimes, defrosting whatever it is that got caught can turn into a really frightening moment. The Antarctic, a mysterious frozen continent, about 1.5 times the size of the United States, 99 percent of which is covered by ice. It contains about 70 percent of the planet's freshwater and 90 percent of the Earth's ice. Being the least populated continent, it keeps a lot of secrets. Of course the more we explore and analyze Antarctica the less it seems mysterious to us. We already know why water in the 'blood falls' is red and that there are mountains and hundreds of lakes underneath thick layers of ice.

10 Creatures Found FROZEN In Ice!
A lot of major discoveries have been found frozen in ice, which figures because ice is an awesome
natural preservative, able to keep anything within its ice grip preserved for hundreds, and even
    thousands of years.
Today we will be taking a look at 10 creatures found frozen in ice. Some of these entries are of extinct
animals, long buried in their frozen tombs, while others, like number one for instance, is a lesson not to
stray too close to frozen bodies of water. Stay tuned till the end to find out more. Let’s begin shall we?

Number 10. A Young Wooly Rhinoceros
Around 20,000 years ago, a young woolly rhinoceros went about its day like usual in the icy region of
what is now northern Siberia. Foraging for food, something likely went fatally wrong for the young
animal as it drowned in the Tirekhtyakh River or a nearby area of water.
Fast forward a few millennia and that woolly rhino's tragic fate that day has become a pathologist's
dream come true. The ancient carcass was discovered by a local farmer in Yakutia, Siberia, in August
2020, about 15,000 years after the wooly rhinoceros is believed to have gone extinct. The fossil was
found with a fully intact fur coat, hooves, and internal organs, giving scientists a crucial puzzle piece on
the anatomy, behaviors and life of the creatures.
The recently found frozen creature isn't the first woolly rhino to be discovered in the area, as another
ice-preserved specimen was unearthed in 2015. That rhino, nicknamed Sasha, was the first baby woolly
rhino ever discovered and is believed to have roamed the region around 34,000 years ago.

    Number 9. A Cave Bear

Siberia seems to be the place to go to if you want to find frozen animals. Case in point, this perfectly
preserved, 39,500-year-old cave bear found on the New Siberian island of Bolshyoy Lyakhovsky.
The adult bear lived its life sometime in the last Ice Age, at the same time as large animals like woolly
mammoths, mastodons and saber-toothed tigers. When the bear died, permafrost preserved its soft
tissues, organs and fur, making it the best-preserved example of a cave bear found yet. Most cave bear
remains discovered so far have been odd bones and skulls.
It was initially discovered by reindeer herders working on the island before it was reported to experts at
    the North Eastern Federal University.
The cave bear carcass presents a lot of exciting opportunities for new research into Ice Age ecosystems.
Its teeth might reveal details about its diet and the territory it grew up on; while the contents of its
stomach will show whether the bear ate plants, animals or both; and ancient DNA analysis could
    illuminate its evolutionary history.

    Number 8. Yuka the Mammoth

Ice is an amazing natural preservative. If something is frozen in it, and is kept frozen, chances are any
animal or plant matter will stay perfectly preserved for an indefinite time. Because of this, Siberia’s
permafrost has yielded hundreds of frozen prehistoric animal specimens, fossicles if you may, much to
the delight to scientists. But one day in 2007, scientists found something that trumped nearly any fossil
previously discovered; a perfectly preserved carcass of a baby wooly mammoth.
The mammoth, who was since named Yuka, died around 10,000 years ago in the frozen tundra of
northern Russia, and remained frozen in the ground until it was discovered by reindeer herder Yuri
Khudi in May 2007 May near the Yuribei river in Russia's Yamal-Nenents autonomous district. It was
found in a virtually inaccessible part of north-western Siberia, which makes me wonder what Yuri was
doing there in the first place. The mammoth was so perfectly preserved that it had no defects, except
for the tail being lopsided, making one of the most important paleontological finds of the day.

Number 7. The Largest Penguin Ever
The remoteness and harshness of Antarctica makes it one of the least explored places on earth. That’s
why scientists think that the icy continent is hiding many secrets just waiting to be discovered by those
who are bold enough. Thanks to the permafrost yielding some of its secrets in the past few years, were
slowly getting to know this enigmatic place. And this frozen discovery, is one of its best kept secrets.
The largest penguin species to have ever waddled on earth was unearthed in Antarctica, and its size is
almost incomprehensible. Standing at 6 foot 8 inches from toe to beak tip, the giant bird would have
    dwarfed most adult humans.

  • 10 Most Amazing Things Found Frozen In Ice!

From the remains of an ill-fated hot air balloon adventure in the North Pole to a prehistoric lunchbox over 3,000 years old! – here are ten of the wildest things ever found frozen in ice.

    Subscribe to American Eye

    10: Airplane Frozen in Antarctica
In the year 1988, a Lockheed C-130 airplane equipped with skis took off from near the McMurdo Station Antarctic Research Center. This in itself isn't overly impressive, except for the fact that before then the plane had been frozen in the ice since 1971.

9: Hot Air Balloons over the North Pole
Imagine trying to fly a hot air balloon over the Arctic Circle. It seems like a foolhardy mission, yet there was indeed an expedition in 1897 in which a hot air balloon and its crew tried to sail over the North Pole. Rather than doing that, they crashed into the ice.

    8: Perfectly Preserved Human Hand
Get ready for this next story because it is gruesome! On Mont Blanc in the French Alps, somebody found a perfectly preserved human hand that once belonged to passengers killed in a plane crash over 50 years ago. According to Metro News, Daniel Roche had been searching for human remains on the mountain for years but had never found anything significant.

    7: Prehistoric Lunchbox
Near Mont Blanc in France are the mighty Swiss Alps. But rather than talking about body parts, this discovery was a very strange time-traveling lunch box. According to Live Science, it seems that 3,500 years ago, a brave traveler lost their lunchbox while climbing the Swiss Alps.

    6: Polar Princess
One of the most incredible mummies ever has been discovered close to the Arctic Circle. She's being called the Polar Princess, and she is miraculously preserved even after 900 years of being frozen. Her face and features are disturbingly clear, and she even still has her eyelashes.

    5: Spears in Yellowstone
Researchers have found ancient hunting weapons in the melting ice near Yellowstone National Park that date back 10,000 years. The discovery was announced by the University of Colorado, with a research associate coming forward to say that they found a spear-like wooden dart which had been frozen in a sheet of ice before it recently melted.

    4: Allan Hills Meteorite
A meteorite believed to have come from Mars was found at the Allen Hills icefield in Antarctica way back in 1984. This is a fairly old discovery, but for the past almost 50 years it has been the source of a lot of arguments and controversy.

    3: Viking Artifacts
Mountain glaciers reveal all kinds of cool stuff when they start melting. Recently, researchers found a small container crafted of birch bark on an ancient mountain pass in Norway that dated back to 400 AD. But this isn't just a lunch box from some ancient pilgrim, it's a trove of Viking artifacts.

    2: Frozen Climbers
When you think about people frozen in ice, Mexico probably isn't the first location that comes to mind. However, in 2015 the bodies of two climbers were found mummified on the side of a Mexican mountain – and they had been there for over 50 years.

    1: Box of Amazing Photographs
Antarctica has been an amazing place for exploration. Over 100 years ago, there were many expeditions heading to the great frozen lands of Antarctica or up into the frigid north. And unfortunately, many of these expeditions were doomed before they even got started.

    10. Marine Reptiles
In Chile, there is an enormous glacier that is beginning to melt, revealing a prehistoric monster! Actually, so far scientists have uncovered 46 different animal remains, belonging to 4 different species of Ichthyosaur. These were large and fast marine reptiles that lived during the mesozoic Era from 245 to 90 million years ago.

    9. Frozen Alligators
On a freezing morning in January, George Howard thought the lumps sticking out of the iced over swamp were tree stumps. Turned out that these stumps at the Swamp Park alligator preserve in North Carolina were actually his alligators.

    8. St. Joseph’s lighthouse
During the winter months, Lake Michigan can get pretty cold. And when snowstorms start to batter the area, many of its lighthouses wear their ice for quite a long time. That’s what makes St. Joseph’s lighthouse such a wonder to see during the winter! Many of the lighthouses on Lake Michigan like St. Joseph can develop a wonderful blanket of ice on their exteriors, which drives environmental lovers to come to the area and see what all the fuss is about.

    7. Iron Age Artifacts
In 2020, a group of Norwegian archaeologists started finding artifacts from the Vikings and the Iron Age frozen inside of one of the melting glaciers in the Jotunheim Mountains. In Norway, just like in the rest of the world, a lot of glaciers are quickly melting. However, alongside this somber course of events have come new discoveries about our past.

    6. The Yuka Mammoth
The Yuka mammoth is one of the most well known and scientifically valuable animals that have ever been found. It was discovered in 2010 within the Siberian permafrost on the coast of the Laptev Sea in Russia. The most unusual thing about this 39,000-year-old mammoth was that it was mummified, and had the most in-tact mammoth brain ever found, with folds and blood vessels still visible.

    5. Ancient Alaskan forest
Did you know there's a forest in Alaska that's been hidden for over 1000 years? Again, due to melting glaciers, this once well-concealed forest is coming back into view. As the Mendenhall Glacier has been melting for the past 50 years or so, it’s revealed the occasional log. But recently, it’s been tree after tree, many of them somewhat intact.

    4. 46,000-Year-Old Bird
Scientists recently found the remains of a bird which they’ve dated to be somewhere around 46,000 years old! Now things can obviously last a long time in ice, but 46,000 years? That’s quite impressive! That amount of time puts this bird back in the last ice age, but Siberia is cold enough that its permafrost is pretty well able to preserve everything locked underneath its soil.

    3. Andrée’s Balloon Expedition
The North Pole was the crown jewel for many explorers in the past, but it was a treacherous journey regardless of your method of travel. Despite this, in 1897, a group of three Swedish explorers put their brains together and figured that getting there would be easier if they traveled via hot-air balloon. S.A. Andrée and his team set out to do the impossible… and it didn’t go very well.

    2. Worms
Just imagine being in a state of coma for 42,000 years and then waking up again! I know it looks like something out of a movie, but it's not far from the truth. A group of nematodes, which are parasites that hang out in the soil, were recently brought back to life after an astonishing 42,000 years frozen in ice! We all may be a little bit groggy after we wake up in the morning, but one can only imagine how these nematodes must have felt when they emerged back to life.

    1. Allan Hills 84001
Allan Hills 84001 (ALH) is a meteorite which was discovered by a team of meteorite hunters in the Antarctic ice in 1984. From the outside, it doesn’t look like much – it’s a little over three-and-a-half pounds (1 kg), and it looks more like a weird brick than anything from out of this world. Like all other meteorites, it had a thick layer of glass known as a fusion crust which all meteorites share on their exteriors

    - Jean Hilliard was found frozen solid and rushed her to the hospital. Her skin was completely frozen, her eyes weren’t reacting to any light, but she was alive! Her pulse was only 12 beats per minute, and her body temperature was just 88°F.
    - When explosives used to clear the way to build a railroad went off early, a huge iron rod was sent right through Gage’s head! He didn’t even seem phased by the whole thing! He casually chatted with people who walked passed him while waiting for the doctor to arrive.
    - The next story is about a few friends who were all relaxing in a hammock. When hey went back in the house, a huge branch snapped and fell on the hammock in the exact spot where they would’ve been lying!
    - The pilot didn’t strap Gursky properly to the glider. The man did fall, but he grabbed onto the pole and the pilot’s shoulder just in time to catch himself. Gursky had to hold on to dear life with all his strength for a whole 3 minutes before the pilot could attempt to land safely.
    - Have you ever heard the saying “lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice”? I guess it’s still true, but nobody said anything about it striking the same person twice…or even 7 times!
    - A man named Joe Simpson was climbing in the Peruvian Andes. Something went horribly wrong and Simpson broke his leg. It took him four days to make the journey. He wrote a book about his experience, and that then became the 2003 movie.

Strangest Things Found Frozen in Ice

From well-preserved mammoths and humans ... to … lost treasure and ancient reptiles ... Here are 12 of the strangest things found frozen in ice

    #12 Lake Vostok (vah-stock)
Did you know that Antarctica has some 400 known subglacial lakes? This one is the largest and is found beneath Russia’s Vostok Station at the southern Pole of Cold. Located more than 13,000 feet (4000m) underneath the ice, the surface of the freshwater lake is found at that extreme depth. Lake Vostok measures 160 miles (257 km) long and some 50 miles wide, (80 km) while covering an area that exceeds 4,800 square miles (12,431 sq km)! Experts think that the lake’s water could have been isolated from the world for some 25 million years. So there’s a theory that unusual life forms could have developed there within that time, and might still exist in the ancient water.

    #11 Cave Cubs
The Sakha (SAH-kah) Republic is recognized as the largest and coldest region in Siberia. And that cold weather helps to preserve the remains of prehistoric creatures, as you’ll see during our list. The incredibly well-preserved remains of two cave lion cubs were found that date back more than 10,000 years. Experts say the cubs are the best preserved specimens of their kind ever found. Because remains of these animals are rarely found, scientists are hoping these cubs will offer a better idea of what cave lions looked like, as well as offer insights to their cause of extinction. Cave lions ranged from Alaska to Europe until the late Pleistocene, some 10,000 years ago. Paintings of them have been found in caves depicting them hunting together, not unlike lionesses of today. They are actually closely related to modern-day lions.

    #10 Lost Treasure
This one almost sounds like the plot of a mystery novel or a movie. The story starts in 2013 when a French mountain climber approached law enforcement officials and handed over a small box that was packed with gems. More than 100 jewels including diamonds, rubies, and sapphires were valued at around 300-thousand US dollars ($300,000). The anonymous climber made the gesture in the hopes that the valuables be returned to their rightful owners. A clue to their ownership was found on the box itself, which bore the logo of Air India. Flashback to 1966 when Air India flight number 101 was enroute to London. It accidentally crashed into Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps. There were no survivors and the wreckage has never been recovered due to the area’s harsh weather. The plane is still there, and over time artifacts including diplomatic mail pouches have been found by climbers and treasure hunters. As for the jewels, two different families made claim to them. In 2014, another climber found an additional 50 valuable items from the wreck including gold chains and necklaces.

    #9 Mercer Lake Mystery
This is a subglacial lake found in Antarctica that is covered by a sheet of ice that’s more than 3,500 feet thick (1,067 m). After laying there undisturbed for thousands of years, the lake was discovered by accident in 2007. In 2018 scientists made efforts to take samples of the Lake Mercer’s hydraulically active water below. It took them two days of melting through the ice with a high-power hot-water drill to reach it. After examining sediment samples, researchers found that the water contained the ancient carcasses of tiny organisms. That includes the remains of tardigrades, crustaceans, plants and fungi, and algae. Their exact age is still uncertain, but estimates indicate they could be up to 120,000 years old. While the lake’s water contains enough oxygen to support bacteria and aquatic animals, it’s unknown how the tardigrade and other animals found their way here. With so many unexplored lakes buried underneath Antarctica, that mystery might only represent the tip of the iceberg (so to speak).

    #8 Sasha
The remains of the only baby wooly rhinoceros ever discovered were initially thought to be around 10,000 years old. But the prehistoric creature found in the permafrost of the Sakha (SAH-kah) Republic turns out to be more than three times older, at 34,000 years! The well-preserved calf was discovered in 2014. While it's gender is still undetermined, the creature was named Sasha, after the hunter who found it. Experts say the animal’s nasal passages were clogged with mud, indicating that it likely drowned. Along with being the only infant wooly rhino ever found, it’s also one of the best preserved prehistoric specimens in the world, Nearly its entire skin, along with its front and rear legs remain intact.

I hire different researchers and writers for the script for each video along with my original commentary related to the topic and hire professional voice over artists that can properly convey the the theme of the video. Most importantly, find the best background music, usually royalty free from Incompetech or, to create a creepy atmosphere while watching the video.

I use different stock footages (both free and paid), clips of videos that I can find related to the video and search images to visualize the narrative and story that I’m trying to tell.

It usually takes us week to create 1 video and hopefully, we can create more videos per week without sacrificing quality in the future!
