  • QUARENTINO: Before & After | Rescue Horse transformation

    8:11

In this week`s highlight, Emma tells the story of Quarentino, a horse rescue that happened while we were in quarantine, hence the name of this lucky boy.

He came to Tenerife Horse Rescue with many issues, one of the biggest being he was terrified of people and other horses. In the video, you`ll witness this problematic horse transformation, his backstory, his training process with target practice and positive reinforcement, and his amazing progress in just a year's time.

This is a happy horse rescue story, one that we wish would apply to any horse that comes to our animal sanctuary.

  • AMAZING HORSE RESCUE | Marleys Story

    5:03

Saving one animal won't change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal.

This is Marley's story and transformation. He was rescued at the start of 2017 in such horrific condition I don't think he was far from death (photos/video didn't capture the extent of his condition like it appeared in real life). He was so emaciated there was almost a 90 degree angle between his spine and rib cage, he was covered in rain scald, dandruff and infected cuts, had bad stomach issues and was such a chronic wind sucker he had already worn all his top teeth away. He was so weak and had no life left in him, he hardly reacted to anything. He would try and remove himself if anyone he didn't know came into the paddock, and would become extremely anxious and very strong to handle if we even took him just outside the paddock gate.

It has been an amazing journey nursing him back to health and watching the life come back into his eyes. He is now a healthy, happy horse who loves to go out on trails, and happily comes over to anyone who enters the paddock regardless of if he knows them or not. He has completely stopped wind sucking (hasn't done it for at least 6-7 months and I don't think he will ever return to it here) and has proven himself to be the perfect first horse for my dad . I am so glad that my family is able to provide him with his forever home where he will never know the pain and suffering he has gone through in the past. He is still not 100% where we would like him to be, but he is continuing to improve everyday. Can't wait to see what he looks like in another few months. He is such a beautiful horse and deserves the world and more.

  • 10 years of Amazing Horse Rescue Recoveries from Starvation & Neglect in Appalachia with HOP in WV

    3:55

“The mission of Heart of Phoenix is to save the horses of Appalachia through collaboration, education and the provision of equine resources.”

HEART OF PHOENIX: MORE THAN HORSE RESCUE IN WEST VIRGINIA.
Operating as West Virginia’s largest, most effective equine advocacy organization, we work throughout much of Appalachia as united group of individuals, volunteers and partners improving the outlook for horses of all breeds and background. We do so through innovation and collaboration, while always working to empower horse owners, as well. We are advocates for good horsemanship and a kind, yet strong equine economy. With over 500 lives saved thus far, we are succeeding.

Because we are aware it is important to expand the reach of advocacy in this region, we offer rescue to horses, education to horse owners, and we work with horse professionals nationwide to see our goals to fruition. We also assist counties’ animal control & law enforcement officers statewide with training and support.

We are a successful advocate for All Horses in Appalachia.

Poverty in our region means the need for education and assistance is tremendous, and we work to meet those needs.

We care about showing what rescued horses are capable of while we work on the roots of “equine neglect” where a future finds fewer horses in need.

Abuse, deprivation from water, food and basic care frequently go on at unspeakable levels where horses are left to suffer for years in Appalachia.

We have found working at the root of the issue through clinics, educational events, blogs and in person help creates respect for equine advocacy and change. Our focus is to improve the outlook of horses here for now and the long term.

Horses in our care receive the rehab and training they need to become awesome equine partners for adopters.

We also strive to make create more Good horsemen and women, so we see fewer horses in need and see more horses going into suitable homes.

    OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE
“Saving the Horses of Appalachia until we create a future where all horses can thrive.”

We do not just rescue, we strive to see the future requires less need for rescue. We hope you continue to listen to the stories of our horses and allow us to continue to promote great horsemanship for years to come.

You can help change everything for horses in Appalachia when you partner with us!

  • ARABIAN HORSE RESCUED FROM a KILL PEN ~

    29:52

Layla, a 14 year old Arabian (breed) was rescued from a kill pen in Texas. Today she get her 2nd chiropractic adjustment from Dr. Doug Willen the Animal Cracker!

    HERE IS LAYLA'S 1ST SESSION:

The Arabian or Arab horse is a breed of horse that originated on the Arabian Peninsula. With a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most easily recognizable horse breeds in the world. It is also one of the oldest breeds, with archaeological evidence of horses in the Middle East that resemble modern Arabians dating back 4,500 years. Throughout history, Arabian horses have spread around the world by both war and trade, used to improve other breeds by adding speed, refinement, endurance, and strong bone. Today, Arabian bloodlines are found in almost every modern breed of riding horse.

The Arabian developed in a desert climate and was prized by the nomadic Bedouin people, often being brought inside the family tent for shelter and protection from theft. Selective breeding for traits, including an ability to form a cooperative relationship with humans, created a horse breed that is good-natured, quick to learn, and willing to please. The Arabian also developed the high spirit and alertness needed in a horse used for raiding and war. This combination of willingness and sensitivity requires modern Arabian horse owners to handle their horses with competence and respect.

The Arabian is a versatile breed. Arabians dominate the discipline of endurance riding, and compete today in many other fields of equestrian sport. They are one of the top ten most popular horse breeds in the world. They are now found worldwide, including the United States and Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, continental Europe, South America (especially Brazil), and their land of origin, the Middle East. A kill pen is where people and breeders dump horses that they no longer want.

RISING STARR HORSE RESCUE saves, rehabilitates, retrains and rehomes abandoned, neglected or abused horses and educate about at-risk horses and the importance of protecting them.

By giving America's horses a second chance at life we give the community the chance to experience the love, patience and compassion horses have for humans.

When Kelly Stackpole decided to open her barn to teach noncompetitive horse lessons in 2005, her goal was to bring her passion and love for these incredible animals to others and guide them toward finding a similar love and connection to horses. She did not expect, while looking for horses to fill her barn, to discover that young, sound and healthy horses as well as older horses were being disregarded and often sent off to slaughter. As soon as she became aware that any of the animals beloved to her were not treated in a humane way, she found another mission, and Rising Starr Horse Rescue was born.

Rising Starr relies on a group of talented and specialized veterinarians, chiropractors, staff, and volunteers who work together to approach each horse’s rehabilitation. This team of dedicated individuals ensures that every horse becomes healthy, happy, and confident before moving on to its new home.

Beyond restoring comfort and care to these horses, our purpose at Rising Starr is to inform others about the cruelty of horse slaughter while providing guidance on how to decrease the number of unwanted horses in the United States.

Every member of our program treats all of our horses with the love and respect they deserve - it's their passion. Our volunteers include many teens and children, as we hope that by raising children that are thoughtful and caring about the treatment of horses, we will have the biggest impact on the future of America's horses.  Not only does RSHR have a Dedicated board but we are developing a Youth board to continue our work in the future.

  • Terrified & in pain, puppys amazing transformation after rescue.

    3:15

We got a call to rescue a very sick street puppy. We found him hiding in a plastic bag, and the moment we touched the bag he screamed in pain. He was desperately hungry so we could coax him out with biscuits, but every time we tried to touch him he cried out. He had severe mange and a deep wound on his hip that was causing him the shooting pains every time he moved.

This dear little boy was in so much pain and agitation, his worried eyes never relaxed for even a moment in the first several days after rescue.

But after 6 weeks of medicine and care, meet Jumper today!

  • RESCUED HORSE FROM KILL PEN. Rescue horse training.

    8:12

Rescued horse from kill pen needs training to trust humans again. This rescue horse had trauma somewhere in his past and gets nervous about certain things.

When training a rescue horse you must have patience. When training a rescue horse with a traumatic past, you must have tons of patience and take the smallest of victories.

In this video Beau, the slaughter bound horse is learning to side up to a mounting block from both sides.

Because all mounting is normally done from the left side of a horse he picked that side up easier.

I also wanted this rescue horse's training to include bringing his right side over to me for mounting.

It's a training cue he should be able to do both sides and can be used for other things besides mounting.

To begin this rescue horse training I had a short crop which I tapped on the top of his hip.
I tapped the hip on the side I wanted his hind foot to step towards me.

In this video, we were reviewing the right side so I'll use that for explanation purposes.

I wanted his right hind foot to step towards me so the tapping cue repeated until I got one step with that foot.

Then the tapping stopped. This was repeated until I consistently got his hind end to move towards me where I was standing on his right side.

I needed to add a cluck sound with my mouth to get him to move his feet and knowing I won't always have a crop on hand, the tapping cue gradually becomes a hand in the air held out towards the hip.

At the beginning, the tapping goes on a while and gets gradually harder until the horse figures out what I'm asking.

This rescue horse picked up what I wanted quickly and is responsive to cues so the whole process took 2-3 minutes with him.

Other horses can take up to 10 minutes to understand what is being asked.

  • feral foal rescue

    6:32

    Feral Foal Rescue

Our area does in deed have feral horses that live out on the range lands all year round. They have been for years; the stallions have the herds broken up into multiple little bands of broodmares, foals & yearlings living wildly amongst the sage brush & grasslands.

Part of Jordan's job as Range Rider, is to keep an eye on the herds, the grasslands & the boundary fences.

April 2021 Jordan was out checking the range fence line up along the watering hole, when he thought it was peculiar that two horses was not instantly running away from him approaching. These herds are notorious for their ability to sense peoples presence and to keep a wide distance from us. Jordan stopped to video them, sending the clips to Candice to show that some horses are close range and that she should come up and photograph them for her website. What he did not realize was that they were standing their ground & protecting a new born foal that was stuck in deep mud near the watering hole.

It was after being chased at a few times by the horses, that Jordan looped down towards a gully that he noticed the foal.

The mare was being what nature intended of her - a strong, protective mother, and the stallion kept his presence known and company to the guarding mare.

Candice arrived to give Jordan a hand, it took the both of them to watch the mare and pull the foal out. This video shows clips through out what was probably two hours, of pulling the foal out, rubbing it down, giving it electro lites and waiting for the mare to re-claim the baby.

watch as the story unfolds and the ending is one of love.

  • 4 Years Rescue Horse Transformation

    9:11

I asked my trainer if she thought any new horses I get would be easier than Milo and she said that they're basically guaranteed to be because virtually no horse is as sensitive and quirky as my little red horse... This journey is very much not over, it's just begun.

  • Unbelievable horse transformation after being rescued by Little Buckets Farm Sanctuary

    9:03

Update: This video being almost 2 years old, it is one that keeps getting viewed so I wanted to post an update here as well. On September 8th, 2021, we lost our sweet Sterling. He passed suddenly and unexpectantly. To say I am devastated is an understatement. I have put together a tribute video to him that is now posted (Sept 13th). As hard it is to watch, Sterling only got more handsome as time went on though I don't know how it was possible as he was so handsome and beautiful. I hope everyone will continue to watch his transformation and now tribute video as he was an absolute amazing horse. He will be forever missed and loved.

Sterling's transformation! With the help of you guys, we rescued Sterling back in February last minute to save him from being shipped to slaughter. And look at him now!!❤ So unbelievably handsome and incredibly sweet! ❤
I was told he was 18. He was so sick in quarantine! He didn't want to eat! But he fought hard. So thankful for his care in QT. ❤ He had a long way to go after he arrived, still underweight, patches of hair missing, flaky dry skin but was such a sweet horse from day 1 here at Little Buckets! We got him lots of food, many baths, the care he needed and look at him now. And the vet thinks he is at least 30 years old. ❤ Gorgeous black, weight back on, and loving life!! And became best friends with Chief, Chester, and Trigger! I love this boy SO much!❤ I was drawn to him as soon as I saw his picture and I am so thankful we were able to save him!!❤
His 6 month transformation is worth the watch! You wouldn't recognize Sterling if you didn't know, my vet said she would have never known he was the same horse if I didn't tell her. ❤????❤
Thank you so much for your support and love for Sterling! We can save lives together!❤

  • Mustang Rescue Izzys Transformation

    3:48

    Meet Izzy—
Izzy is a 4 year old BLM mustang from Silver King, Nevada that was surrendered to the CZ Mustangs Rescue in July 2018.
Izzy was skinny, nervous, untrusting, and so on...
After a few weeks of bringing her body back to how it should’ve been, she was able to go through our training program to begin the process of being available for adoption. This challenged Izzy, as she didn’t fully trust people and the things they asked of her, so she would get scared, nervous, and frustrated. It took a little while, but Izzy finally came to an understanding after being worked with and has come to the point where she enjoys her sessions, can be handled safely by people who come in, and can be worked without being fearful. While she’s come a long way, there is still a little bit more she needs to learn before she can be officially adopted out. But, it is still fun and rewarding to share the progress ❤️

Our rescue is dedicated to helping mustangs like Izzy, mustangs who have been adopted but haven’t necessarily ended up in the right place. We rehabilitate those mustangs and put a proper training foundation on them that sets them up for success for their future lives when they are adopted.

Rescue Pony Clinging To Life Undergoes Transformation That Stuns Owners
A lot of things have changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, but some heroes have put their safety on the line to save animals in need. The folks at Redwings Horse Sanctuary have spent their time in quarantine nurturing and rehabilitating hurt and abandoned horses, giving them transformations that will change their lives forever. Anguished animals don't have the ability to help themselves on their own, so when an emaciated, abandoned pony was in dire need of help, the angels at RHS were there to save the day.

Puppy Rescued After Being Chained To A Tree For Months – Her Transformation Is Divine

When rescuers found poor Ziva tied to a tree in a Houston housing development, they were appalled.

The little pup was less than 1 year old and yet, her evil owners must’ve left her tied to that tree for months.

The Staffordshire terrier mix was supposed to have been a guard dog, but nobody ever bothered to care for her.

I'm so sorry there's been such a delay in posting a new video. Both my mental and my physical health hasn't been awesome the past month- on top of my camera breaking, I think it was the world saying 'hey, kid. Step back for a moment.'
This is my most requested video of all time, and I'm so excited to share it with you all.
Stay kind. Love hard. Stay safe.

  • Training Rescue Horses at Colorado Horse Rescue

    2:20

In addition to needing proper nutrition, rescue horses also need exercise and training to reach their full potential. That’s where trainers like Sarah Hofkamp come in. It’s her job to evaluate and train every horse that comes through the doors at Colorado Horse Rescue. See the obstacles she has to overcome to turn these “useless” horses into valuable members of society.

At Purina we believe that there is greatness in every horse. We also believe that with the right care, the right nutrition and the right home, every horse can be great again. That’s why Purina is proud to sponsor A Home For Every Horse, the organization that connects horses that need homes with horse lovers who have homes. It’s a big job. But with everyone doing their part, over 1000 horses will not only find permanent homes this year, they’ll also find their full potential.

Visit to learn more about the organization and Purina’s involvement.
