My AMD RYZEN 9 3950X has serious problems

I've replaced so many other components in the PC already... I've narrowed it down to the PC stability issues being because of the CPU. I've installed an AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT to replace my Ryzen 9 3950X, until we get Ryzen 5000 series CPUs on November 5th.

My AMD Ryzen CPU Has Bent Pins What Would You Do?

I purchased a brand new AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor and to my surprize it had some bent pins right out of the box. The obvious fix for this would be to return the CPU for an exchange. I decided to go ahead and straighten the pins to the best of my ability and avoid waiting a unknown amount of time for the return.

Let’s get started with intel. The company seems to be going through a bad breakup. After fine dining and taking care of their Girlfriend apple since 2006, Apple seemed to have had enough after 14 years and broke up with Intel.

As the tales go though, intel starting to tell people that it was a mutual breakup, but we all know that it was because Apple had found a new soulmate. When Apple revealed that the breakup was due to the M1, Intel started plotting to take its revenge with an offensive reminiscent of apple in the 2006 to 2009 era and the “Get a Mac” Campaign.

It’s called the “Go PC” Campaign, it started a few weeks ago, and it’s exactly what it seems like. The first one is , If you can flip through photoshop thumbnails with your actual thumb, you’re not on a mac. Go PC. another reads “If you can power a rocket launch and launch rocket league, you’re not on a mac. GO PC.”

AMD Ryzen 5000 processor failures: are they really that bad?

We’ve seen some concerning reports that AMD’s latest Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 processors, along with the X570 motherboards they use, could be suffering from a high failure rate.

PowerGPU posted a tweet – which has since been deleted – that claimed the PC builder ordered a large number of Ryzen 5000 processors, and a surprising number of them were DOA (Dead on Arrival).

According to PowerGPU, of the 50 AMD Ryzen 9 5950X CPUs it received, eight were DOA. Out of 50 AMD Ryzen 9 5900X CPUs, four were DOA.

PowerGPU’s AMD 7 Ryzen 5800X and AMD Ryzen 5 5600X stock also reportedly had high failure rates as well.

While a certain amount of defective units is to be expected when bulk buying, PowerGPU’s numbers are worryingly high.

However, before we go any further, it’s important to note that this is an unsubstantiated claim from a single source. It should also be noted that the original tweet was deleted, which could mean PowerGPU has backtracked on its claims.

But, while PowerGPU has deleted its original tweet, it is still replying to other users – many of whom are taking issue with PowerGPU’s claims.

The company is also posting screenshots of the r/AMD Subreddit, where users are posting about their issues.

How much of an issue is this?
While PowerGPU’s claimed numbers are high, other PC parts retailers and builders are claiming that the failure rates seem to be normal.

Hardware Unboxed asked some ‘major’ PC parts retailers in Australia, and were told the AMD Ryzen 5000 failure rate was below 2% – which is around normal.

I don't know the answer to that question, but one thing is for certain. Nothing bought Essential. Meaning that Carl Pei's company might now have a product coming out. But I'm not all that thrilled.

Ryzen 5950x problems RMA CPU XMP Fails Whea problems

My client asked me if I can change his 3950x to 5950x on his MEG ACE X570.
3950x was working there under stress perfectly.
MSI stated it has BIOSes for Ryzen 5000 series. I don't know if they do. All I know is that CPU stopped booting after turning off under Linpack Stress test from OCCT. It was not overclocked. I've been trying many different RAM settings. It stopped booting at 2400Mhz CL 14-15-15-35. So no stress at all. No change in memory settings, voltages, nor frequencies lowering gives any effect.

This sample 5950x processor did not run the OS or the system installer finally on any of the boards - code B1, and was sent back to the RMA.
I've been waiting for the RMA result for a week. Still no news.

TLDR / TLDW:
If your CPU is not capable of running memory at XMP which should work, and even lowering the memory clock is not working properly, you may suspect that the CPU is defective and you should start RMA procedure.

Intel Recently announced they will be shipping their 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S processors in the 1st quarter of 2021. This announcement came just days before AMD revealed their Zen 3 based Ryzen 5000 series processors and showed their 12 core 5900X beating Intel's i9-10900K CPU in gaming. Intel's 11th gen Rocket Lake processors are looking to be a large improvement over their 10th gen parts, but it might not be enough to beat AMD's 5000 series.
