    HOW TO BUILD A COMPUTER

    1. DON'T BUY THE MOST EXPENSIVE MACHINE.
    2. RESEARCH ACTUAL BENCHMARK DATA
    3. BUY HARDWARE BASED ON YOUR SOFTWARE APPLICATION
    4. More cores doesn't mean it's better for you!

Side note: The fast rendering capability of this new machine actually let me eat dinner with my family on the first night I used it. This is incredibly important to me.

A special thank you to Puget Systems for allowing me to visit and for helping me

  • Building the Future Using Puget Systems Workstations

    2:27

Utah State University is using virtual reality to design a new community on Powder Mountain in the Ogden Valley of Utah. Benjamin George, a professor of landscape architecture at USU, is using three Puget Systems workstations for this particular project, and says by using VR, his students are able to design as if they are actually in the landscape. One of the Puget systems runs Pix4D for processing the thousands of images they took of the mountain, while the other two are used for design and modeling in VR.

Imagine being able to close your eyes and visualize what you want to create. With the Intel i9 processor at the core of Puget Systems’ computers, the students at Utah State are now able to work on projects that exceed what they were able to do before and do it faster.

  • MacVoices #19130: Faster Together - Puget Systems Designs Custom Computers For Your Needs

    8:08

From Faster Together at NAB in Las Vegas, we learned about custom computers built to your specifications from Jon Bach, President of Puget Systems. Jon covers when it makes sense for you to have something custom built and how they go about the process. Their service isn’t just limited to building the box, however. The bigger job is keeping that machine running as software and drivers get updated. Puget makes that part of their service to be sure your machine keeps running at top performance.

This edition of MacVoices is sponsored by Smile, the makers of PDFpen and PDFpenPro, PDFpen for iPad, PDFpen for iPhone, PDFpen Scan+, as well as TextExpander for Mac and TextExpander for iPhone and iPad, as well as the new TextExpander for Windows. Great software to help you get more done.

  • How To Choose The Right Hardware For After Effects

    1:2:16

A modern PC-based workstation can provide terrific performance in After Effects, but a lot has changed over the last several years in terms of both hardware and software. With all the different CPU, GPU (including multi-GPU configurations), RAM, storage, and other individual component choices, it can often be a daunting task to configure a system. It doesn't help that even if you do your research, most of the information you will find on the internet is gaming focused and not at all applicable to a professional application like Adobe After Effects.

In this 60 minute webinar, Matt Bach covers:

    - What the various components in a computer actually do
    - How After Effects utilizes each of those various components
    - Where to spend your budget to get the best performance
    - Computer hardware marketing terms to watch out for

  • Puget Systems Spirit Unboxing

    16:16

I first discovered @PugetSystems through a @Barnacules video. I love that guy. Then I learned @Puget_Houston also streamed the builds on Twitch every Friday. The way they pay attention to detail and quality impressed me to the point where I didn't mind spending a little extra. I had to buy my next system from them. 2.5 months later, still no regrets.

This is the link to the basic system I purchased. I did make a couple of small modifications. The window was a free upgrade.
