  • WE scandal: Finance Minister Bill Morneau testifies before House committee | FULL

    2:11:16

Finance Minister Bill Morneau appeared Wednesday before a House of Commons committee that is probing a cancelled agreement for WE Charity to run a student-volunteer program.

During the hearing, Morneau admitted that he has made “significant” donations worth tens of thousands of dollars to WE Charity, and only just repaid $41,000 in what he says were previously unknown expenses due to the organization from family trips.

“I have not seen the line-by-line,” Morneau admitted when asked about the details of what those expenses entailed, and said he expected they were things like accommodation and meals.

The revelations that the WE Charity has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees to family members of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has blanketed the government in yet another cloud of allegations of ethical violations.

Morneau, like Trudeau, is being investigated by the federal ethics watchdog for possible violations of conflict of interest rules.

Is anyone else following this stories head beginning to spin? Mine is...
There are over a dozen side stories to this one scandal, & media said of the SNC Affair that it twas too complicated for most Canadians, now as of yesterday the CBC reported that they do not believe Canadians are following this story due to it being summer. Well if they are good little boys & girls they are staying home as much as sanity provides, not watching their favourite sport, nor partying like it's 1999 (at bars) though in BC they are doing hard drugs to wash the memory of life away... So in my un-humble opinion Canadians are glued to political tv as its the only game in town...
