  • Trinity walkthrough/longplay

Trinity ( was a text adventure game published by Infocom in 1986 for the Apple ][. The player is walking in the Kensington Gardens in London on a calm, beautiful day when things go haywire very quickly. It was the 70th anniversary of the Trinity Test a few days ago, I thought it would be interesting to do a walkthrough on a game related to the experiment. The longplay turned out to be the longest video I have ever uploaded to my channel. Hope you enjoy it.

  • Infocom ZORK II TRS-80 Model I - Full Solution

    1:26:08

Infocom ZORK II [TRS-80 Model I] - Full Solution

ZORK II was an Interactive Fiction Text Adventure (IFTA) originally created for playing on a mainframe computer by a group of four MIT students. Since then it has been ported to almost every microcomputer, as well as computer made. Here we will be using the original microcomputer release, by Infocom themselves.

ZORK is perhaps the best known and most successful Interactive Fiction Text Adventure ever made. It was played in a pure text environment, the player inputting text command actions in a two or more word string using VERB-NOUN, with a primitive parser deciding what happened, and then describing the results to the player in text on screen. In many ways it was like playing a Pen & Paper RPG, such as AD&D, or even a Choose Your Own Adventure Novel.
One of the greatest keys to solving a text adventure was a well drawn map. Often, in fact almost always, a good map with proper notations is all that stood between success and failure.
Due to my use of a map, and decisions of how to present the game, this may not be a complete example of the game world that was available to the player, as many dead ends may exist, and my goal was to illustrate playing through the game efficiently.

This game is not technically a successor to Adventureland, or any other IFTA, Scott Adams or otherwise. It shares some commonalities including interface, and input-output parser systems. The creators openly admit they were influenced more by Colossal Cave Adventure than any other at the time.

In ZORK II, the player controls an avatar who is exploring The Great Underground Empire. The primary objective is to locate and retrieve certain treasures, and return them to the specified treasure room. To do this they must explore the surrounding area, and gather the objects needed, while solving various puzzles. There are deadman switch like puzzles and events which provide active barriers to advancement in some situations.
There are puzzles which I consider to be unfair. However, they do not show their bad side in this Let's Play, and will not be addressed.

In this play through, I walk you through all the important parts of the game. This includes only the rooms you must explore, all the items you must get, and all the puzzles you must solve. This is all done on a TRS-80 Model I, and though it has four, it will be only using a single floppy disk.

In order to create this I used emulation technology. Though, in the past I had owned the machines this game were released on, they have long since been lost or broken.

Please forgive how rough this is. This is a still learning process.

Infocom (1979-1989) is recognized as the all-time leader in Interactive Fiction, releasing top-selling games and products that dominated the sales charts and still extend considerable influence and memory on the gaming industry. At times they were half of the top ten games being sold and were considered a flagship of the game industry. And then they were gone.

As part of the 2010 documentary GET LAMP, director Jason Scott talked to creators, management, fans and academics about the Infocom story, and produced this 45 minute overview of this unique and wonderful company.

They said you would sleep for half a millennium - not an unreasonable length of time, considering you'd be in limited cryogenic suspension. Your body would rest frozen at the planet's nerve center, an underground complex 20 miles beneath the surface. Your brain, they told you, would be wired to a network of computers; your mind would continue to operate at a minimal level, overseeing maintenance of surface-side equilibrium. And you would not awake, so they promised, until your 500 years had elapsed --- barring, of course, the most dire emergency. Then, and only then, you would be awakened to save your planet by strategically manipulating six robots, each of whom perceives the world differently. But such a catastrophe, you have been assured, could not possibly occur.

On a personal note, this walkthrough was the longest and most involving one I have ever done. I read the original manuscript written by Thomas M. Disch ( and came up with a solution that touches the key elements in the script. The realistic depiction of New York City in the game was amazing for a game at that time, but it had me constantly checking the city map and subway map. Now, I've got a much better understanding of NYC subway lines, although the ones used in the game (such as RR and LL) were mostly phased out or replaced :) Here is an interesting commentary about the author and the game:

You find yourself the victim of a frame-up...the chief suspect in an insider trading scandal. And to survive, you have to be as devious, if not more so, than the rest.

Power. Profit. Double-Dealing and Deceit. The name of the game is Corruption.

Corruption ( was a text adventure game created by Magnetic Scrolls and published by Rainbird in 1988 for the Apple ][. I believe this was the last game produced by Magnetic Scrolls for the Apple II and it's the only game from them featuring double-res graphics. Hope you enjoy the walkthrough!

  • Deadline - MS-DOS

    7:06

The 1996 PC game Deadline, nobody had uploaded it yet so I thought I would :-) The only Deadline game videos were of the 1982 infocom text adventure. Running in DOSBox 0.74, according to the box, it's also compatible with Windows 95/98

This is the 2nd time I played it. At the start of the mission I accidentaly moved one of the way points because I forgot how to go to the live action, and the last 2 minutes of this video is me failing to get them to go upstairs. The first time I played it however, I managed to get them to go upstairs and I pretty much secured everyone without ANY of my team members dying, but then didn't know what to do next so just quit XD

  • Desecration short walkthrough

    8:24

Desecration was a graphics adventure and action game published by Mind Games in 1982 for the Apple ][. You are an assassin who was hired to go to planet Pykron 9 to take out its boss, Dunmark Pykro.

The adventure part was extremely confusing for me, as the game won't accept basic commands like North, or Go North. After many tries, I finally found out that I needed to use Forward, Back, Left, and Right for navigation. Hope you enjoy the short walkthrough!

    What I think:

Well, when I played Deadline for the Apple II I was disappointed, as I expected more from it. It wasn't a bad game for me then, but I perticularly didn't like it either then.

That disappointment, however, is gone. However, while I like it now more than back then, I have to admit ... I find it overrated. Not bad at all, but definitely overrated.

Very well-written game though. It is as if you are reading a bestseller crime novel.

ALSO,FOR BEST PSEUDOCRT RESULTS CHOOSE 360p IN MY VIDEOS.PLEASE DONT CHOOSE 720p OR 1080p.THEY ARE BOTH THE WORST CHOICE,HERE
ALSO IN AMIGA WHEN I SAY IN THE TITLE AMIGA OCS OR AMIGA ECS OR AMIGA AGA MEANS THAT THE SPECIFIC GAME RUN AT LEAST IN THIS CHIPSET OR ABOVE (FOR EXAMPLE AMIGA OCS MEANS THAT GAME RUN ON AMIGA OCS (A1000,A500) (BUT MAY BE OR MAY BE NOT RUN ON AMIGA ECS OR AMIGA AGA).ALSO WHEN I SAY FOR EXAMPLE AMIGA ECS PLAY OR AMIGA AGA PLAY MEANS FOR EXAMPLE THAT THE GAME IS LOADING IN AGA BUT MAY BE WORKS ON AMIGA ECS OR EVEN ON AMIGA OCS WITH SOME UPGRADES (SUCH AS MORE CHIP MEMORY OR WITH KICKSTART 2.0) THESE ARE SOME EXAMPLES THAT YOUTUBE VIDEOS FROM OTHER USERS DONT COUNT,SO I UPLOAD MY OWN VIDEO OF THESE SPECIFIC GAMES

    1) THE GAME EXISTS IN ONLY ONE VIDEO UPLOAD BUT THE UPLOADER TALKS CONTINOUSLY,THEN THIS IS USELESS FOR ME AND I UPLOAD THE SAME GAME WITHOUT SPEECH
    2) IF ANOTHER GAME UPLOAD (ONE ONLY VIDEO) IS FROM EXTERNAL BAD CAMERA WITH BAD SOUND,THEN I UPLOAD IT,AGAIN BECAUSE THE OTHER VIDEO IS USELESS...ETC ETC.WELL,FOR ME THESE GAMES ARE NOT EXISTS ON YOUTUBE
    3) ALSO IF THE GAME HAS FAKE MUSIC SUCH AS FOR HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLE OF PACMAN WHICH IN THE VIDEO YOU HERE INSTEAD GAME AND SAPLES SAMANTHA FOX,THEN THE GAME IS USELESS,AGAIN,FOR ME.
THE KEY TO NOT UPLOAD A GAME,IS NOT ONLY TO EXIST IN YOUTUBE BUT TO EXIST IN THE RIGHT WAY IN YOUTUBE

    INTERESTING

  • Davids Midnight Magic for the Apple II

    1:48

David's Midnight Magic is a simple pinball game designed for 1-4 players. The game was modeled on the popular Black Knight pinball table released by Williams. Unlike Black Knight, however, David's Midnight Magic contains a mixture of bright colors. Featuring dual flipper controls, upper and lower playing fields, tilt mechanism, multiple ball play, electromagnetic deflectors, and many special effects, the game represents the first generation of home computer pinball simulations available with relatively realistic pinball features.

    Uhm, nice pinball game. :P

But besides being a pinball game, this has absolutely NOTHING to do with Midnight Magic on the Atari 2600 !
