The dirty secret of capitalism -- and a new way forward | Nick Hanauer
Visit to get our entire library of TED Talks, subtitles, translations, personalized Talk recommendations and more.
Rising inequality and growing political instability are the direct result of decades of bad economic theory, says entrepreneur Nick Hanauer. In a visionary talk, he dismantles the mantra that greed is good -- an idea he describes as not only morally corrosive, but also scientifically wrong -- and lays out a new theory of economics powered by reciprocity and cooperation.

Edit Version - SACU Public Event: find the way forward for cooperation in difficult times
This is the edited vedio of SACU Public Event: ind the way forward for cooperation in difficult times
The content is the same with but with edit on opening, ending and clips. Please feel free to choose which one you like to watch.
US-China relations are deteriorating alarmingly, and the UK government has allowed itself to get drawn into the growing crisis. Yet over recent decades, relations of cooperation between the UK and China have grown firm roots, building interdependencies across many fields, to the great benefit of both sides. SACU has invited a panel of speakers with differing areas of expertise, but all with long-standing experience of working with Chinese counterparts, to discuss their experiences and their views on the value, the challenges and the benefits of cooperating with China, as well as the prospects, in these problematic times, for their continuing cooperation into the future. We are delighted that Dr. Ruby Wang; Michael Wood; Graham Perry and Kerry Brown will speak and share their experiences and views on Cooperation.
Dr. Ruby Wang is a UK Medical Doctor working on the NHS frontline. Incoming China Head of Programme Delivery for Health and Life Sciences for the FCO at the British Embassy in Beijing.
Graham Perry has made 70+ China visits as a businessman at the Guangzhou Trade Fairs, negotiating with China’s Trade Corporations. Visiting Professor of Dispute Resolution at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. He has also been an active Vice-Chairman of SACU.
Kerry Brown is Professor of Chinese Studies and Director of the Lau China Institute at KCL. From 1998 to 2005 he worked at the FCO and as First Secretary at the British Embassy in Beijing. He is the author of almost 20 books on modern Chinese politics.
Michael Wood is currently Professor of Public History at the University of Manchester. Since 2013 he has made a dozen visits to China making films, chiefly for the six-part Story of China. His new book, The Story of China, is due for publication in September 2020. Michael is SACU’s President.
We heard from our Panel about Cooperation between China and the UK in the fields of science and medicine; film making; business and academic spheres and opened the Q&A session for our attendants to question our Panel.

Proposal for the way forward - September 2020
In this video the City Life leadership team give details of, and reasons for, proposed changes to our meeting structures for Sunday celebrations and flowing into the rest of the week, including a new earlier time for our Sunday evening gathering! No bonus points for spotting the two mistakes in the PowerPoint.
These changes are a culmination of what we believe God has been saying during, and before, lockdown, as well as your feedback in the results of the survey that was sent out.
As we can’t gather for a vision evening we have put together this 25 minute video explaining the proposed changes and why we are planning to trial them from September. We’d love you to pray into these changes and share your thoughts and anything God says to you. We’d suggest not posting responses on social media, but instead contacting any of us directly or emailing the whole team on firstname.lastname@example.org.

Pastor: Educating churches about Way Forward plans is important
The plans being considered by the 2019 General Conference are complicated and not every United Methodist is interested in reading hundreds of pages of legislative proposals. But that doesn’t mean pastors shouldn’t find ways to educate their members. The Rev. Tom Berlin, lead pastor of Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon, Virginia, and a member of the Commission on a Way Forward, suggests graduated ways to inform local churches — from the folks who only want the main points to those who don’t mind getting into the weeds.
Berlin spoke with UM News as part of “Seeing a Way Forward,” a video series featuring different perspectives of church leaders on the work of the Commission on a Way Forward.

The EURUSD is close to breaking out of a four-month range.
The area between 1.1615 support and 1.1970 resistance has been a key factor since September.
However, I’ve favored the euro higher for months.
GBPUSD buyers are trying their best to close the pair above the 1.3340 resistance area.
They managed to do so between Tuesday and Thursday last week, but Friday’s close casts some doubt over the breakout.
As I mentioned in today’s video, the weekly chart failed to close above 1.3340.
I mentioned the potential for a higher AUDUSD on November 23rd.
In the Daily Price Action member’s video, I said that the 4-hour triangle pointed to a break above 0.7340.
Sure enough, AUDUSD broke above that level on the 24th.
I’ve been talking about a potential breakdown from GBPNZD since July.
I also mentioned it on November 12th.
The lower highs since August suggested that a break lower was imminent.
Gold (XAUUSD) hasn’t performed well of late.
And that’s an understatement.
Since carving a 2020 high at 2075, gold has declined over 12%.

The Big Picture: Naga Talks - Issues & Way Forward
With the next round of peace talks to end the protracted Naga political problem scheduled for October 31, the Nagaland and Manipur governments have taken steps to meet any eventuality and have put their respective police forces on high alert. Officials said in Kohima the Nagaland government has directed all deputy commissioners of the districts and administrative officers to remain in their place of posting and within their jurisdiction till further orders. In neighbouring Manipur, where Nagas have a sizeable presence, security forces in the state have been put on high alert and a large number of security forces, including women personnel have been deployed at important areas to thwart any unwanted activities”. The crucial round of talks on October 24 to find a lasting solution to the seven-decade-old Naga insurgency problem has remained inconclusive. Naga tribal organizations, civil societies and political groups have been saying that any agreement on the Naga issue should be inclusive, honourable and acceptable to all sections of the people. On this edition of The Big Picture we analyse the history of the Naga issue, the problems and way forward.

TURKEY’S SYRIA PREDICAMENT: FINDING A WAY FORWARD
On Thursday November 6, between 5:30pm and 7:00pm the Turkish Policy Center held a panel discussion at the Goethe Institute focusing on developments pertaining to Turkey’s predicament regarding Syria. We assessed economic, political, and foreign policy developments in this context, with a prognosis of things to come.
The following speakers participated:
Ambassador Robert Pearson, Former U.S. Ambassador to Turkey
Dr. Soner Cagaptay, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy
Dr. Sebnem Kalemli-Ozcan, IMF and University of Maryland
Dr. Denise Natali, National Defense University
Cenk Sidar, Sidar Global Advisors
Ata Akiner, Turkish Policy Center (Moderator)
The ongoing civil war in Syria is having a significant impact on its neighbor Turkey: the UN estimates that over 1.6 million Syrian refugees have escaped to Turkey, a tragedy which has resulted in massive social and economic ramifications. Additionally, Turkey’s actions (or lack thereof) vis-à-vis fighters and weapons allegedly crossing its borders have come under scrutiny. Most recently, the developments in Kobane have resulted in Ankara drawing criticism from the international community, and an explosion of violence on Turkish streets, threatening the government’s peace process with its Kurdish population.
How will these developments affect Turkey’s relations with the United States? Will there be a Turkish military incursion into Syria? How will Turkey’s standing in the region be affected? What is Turkey’s economic status quo, and how is it being impacted by the Syria crisis? What implications are there for next year’s elections? What is the fate of the Syrian refugees? Is the Kurdish-Turkish peace process stalled, and if so what is the way out? How can Turkey find a way forward with Kurds in neighboring Syria and Iraq?
