  • How Emirates Makes 225,000 In-Flight Meals A Day

    4:34

Emirates Flight Catering in Dubai makes all the snacks, main dishes and desserts served aboard the airline's 200,000 flights each year. The facility runs 24-7, dishing out 110 million meals a year. Emirates' 1,800 chefs from around the world create region-specific menus for each flight.

A previous version of this video inaccurately identified lamb chops as pork chops. Emirates serves only Halal food and has never served pork aboard their flights. We regret the error.

Symphony of the Seas Cruise Ship Tour and Review: Updated -

In March 2018, the cruise line debuted the world's largest cruise ship, the 228,081-ton Symphony of the Seas, which follows the previous record holder, Royal Caribbean's 226,963-ton Harmony of the Seas. But according to CEO Michael Bayley, a ship's size is a function of the company's desire to pack enough dining, entertainment, and lodging options to make all of its passengers happy — not a goal in itself. In this video, we step inside the world's biggest cruise ship currently, and you are going to love it. Let's get it on.

After spending the first six months of her life in the Mediterranean, the world's largest cruise ship at 228,081 tons, Symphony of the Seas arrived in the United States in Miami; also, the headquarters of parent Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. Cruising, in case you haven't been keeping score, is a big business. The company employs over 75,000 people worldwide, including 2,200 on its new flagship. Between its Royal Caribbean brand, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, and other holdings, the company generated nearly 8.8 billion dollars in revenues in 2017.

  • Turnaround Day behind the scenes: How cruise ships are ready to sail again in just 10 hours

    4:49

Norwegian Cruise Line's 965-foot, 91,000-ton 'Star' cruise ship never misses a step in her tightly choreographed weekly visit to Tampa. It is a dizzying 10-hour 'turnaround day' -- a lesson in efficiency that helps to explain how cruise lines can offer travelers the best value in vacations.

Just as the sun rises, the first tractor-trailer truck arrives at the pier. Deliveries will drag on for hours. And by the time restocking is complete, a total of 18 big rigs will have helped prepare this ship for its next weeklong sailing.

Back in 2012, Chris Chmura got a look behind the scenes as the Norwegian Star pulled into port, was refurbished and restocked, and sailed back out.

    Specialty Restaurants in video
    1. Chops Grille

You can also purchase a unlimited dining package to dine at the specialty restaurants every night for dinner

Simple syrup drinks, coffee, tea and milk are free at the complimentary restaurants and anything better like soda, beers and wines are chargable

For our case I booked a Star Class suite which gives us access to dining at all specialty restaurants for free for lunch and dinner and also free flow of drinks below the price of $12usd

  • Why Cruise Ships Sail Under Foreign Flags

    10:38

Cruise ships sailing from the United States under foreign flags are almost universal. In fact, only one major cruise ship -- NCL's Pride of America -- is registered in the U.S.

But have you ever wondered why cruise ships are flagged in foreign countries? We dive into the reasons that cruise lines find it more attractive to be foreign based, despite having huge American operations.

Turn out that foreign-flagged ships can sail for much cheaper than being an American ship. Crew labor costs are significantly lower according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. As well, operating costs like insurance and maintenance are also less expensive.

  • Who’s aboard the empty cruise ships? How many crew are still working on laid up cruise ships?

    9:21

Most of the world's 300 cruise ships have been laid up and “empty” of passengers for almost a year now. While the cruise ships don't have any passengers aboard, they aren’t really empty!

Find out who is looking after all the laid up cruise ships. Learn who is aboard the laid up cruise ships and how they're living on board as well as what the crew is doing to keep the cruise ships maintained and ready to resume cruising when the cruise pause ends in 2021.

Here’s a link to my video about Crew Repatriation that I mentioned in the video: and you can also check out the IMO report declaring crew as essential workers:

    ▶ LEARN MORE about me:

In this video you will learn:

▶ Who is on board the laid up cruise ships - including the Captain, Chief Engineer, Officers and Crew. For most cruise ships, this will be made up of around 30 officers, with the rest being crew to undertake various roles. Additionally, in some jurisdictions a ship carrying more than 100 people will require a qualified medical practitioner – so most cruise ships also carry medical personnel aboard, even during layup.

▶ How long are officer and crew on board each cruise ship? In the early stages of the cruise pause some crew stayed aboard the ships for many months. Things became a little easier in August 2020 when the United Nation’s International Maritime Organisation declared seafarers as “essential workers”. This removed blockages in many areas, and greatly sped up the repatriation of crew. A new normal has been established, with crew changes now taking place regularly. Anyone joining the ship has to undergo rigorous COVID testing and daily symptom checks. In many jurisdictions, this includes a 14-day quarantine.

▶ What are the officers and crew doing aboard the laid up cruise ships during the cruise pause? Looking at the team who run the ship. Not only are they true pro’s in their field, and the nicest guys, but they pretty much gave me a free reign to create something that would complement the magnificence of the AIDAnova and the incredible build visuals. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out - thanks guys!

  • 10 Longest Passenger Ships in the World by Cruise Line

    5:33

Top 10 Largest and Longest Cruise Ships in the World
A cruise ship is generally a large passenger ship used for ocean voyages in which the voyage itself, the ship's amenities, and usually the different destinations (ports of call) along the way each form part of the passengers' experience. There are also smaller river cruise ships. Transportation from one port or another is usually not the main purpose of the voyage. Voyages that return passengers to their originating port are sometimes known as closed-loop cruises. On cruises to nowhere or nowhere voyages, cruise ships make two- to three-night round trips without visiting any ports of call.

In contrast, the few dedicated transport-oriented ocean liners that remain typically transport passengers from one point to another, rather than on round trips. Historically, shipping lines built liners for the transoceanic trade to a higher standard than that of a typical cruise ship, with higher freeboard and stronger plating to withstand rough seas and adverse conditions encountered in the open North Atlantic ocean. Some former ocean liners, such as Marco Polo, now operate as cruise ships, although their number is diminishing. The only dedicated transatlantic ocean liner in operation as of December 2013 was Queen Mary 2 of the Cunard Line, which features amenities of contemporary cruise ships and sees significant service on cruises.

    대본:
Narrator: Every week, over 6,600 people vacation
    매주 6,600명이 넘는 사람들이
aboard the world's largest cruise ship.
세상에서 가장 큰 유람선을 타고 휴가를 보낸다
And all those people need to eat three, four, eight times a day.
    그리고 그 사람들은 전부 하루에 세 번, 네 번, 혹은 여덟 번 먹어야 한다
Allan Gentile: You have to calculate.
    계산해야 해요
There is breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus snacks, plus at night,
아침식사, 점심식사, 저녁식사도 있고, 후식도 있고, 야식도 있고
plus all 24-hour food all around. And that never stops.
24시간 동안 여기저기서 주문하는 음식도 있죠. 절대 멈추지 않아요
    Narrator: Ship kitchens run 24/7,
    선박의 주방은 항상 돌아갑니다
manned by a culinary team of more than 1,000 people.
1000명의 넘는 요리사가 팀으로 구성되어서 담당하고 있죠
They dish out over 30,000 meals every single day.
그들은 매일 30,000개가 넘는 식사를 만들어 제공합니다
And they do it all from compact kitchens on a rocking ship.
그들은 이 모든 것을 흔들리는 선박의 작은 주방에서 하죠
So how does all this food make it to the plate?
그럼 이 모든 음식들이 성공적으로 접시에 담겨져 나가는 걸까요?

  • Why Do School Buses Still Look The Same?

    4:51

On the outside, school buses haven't changed much in almost 100 years, and there's a reason for that. A 1939 conference determined the yellow color, black text, and boxy shape that have come to symbolize the iconic childhood transport. Buses have changed a lot on the inside since the conference and they continue to be the safest way to get to school — about 70 times safer than a car, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
