  • 6 Tips To Growing Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is the miracle plant. In this 6 tips to growing Aloe Vera episode, I will show you everything you know to produce your own Aloe at home. With crazy benefits that help all sorts of illnesses and disease, this is the wonder plant we should all be growing. They say nature has all the answers, and if you ask me quite a few of those answers are in this aloe vera plant.

In these 6 tips, you will learn that you can cut small pieces and use it to treat burns and acne or take larger pieces to produce your own cosmetics

Aloe Vera To keep it happy, plant aloe in a terra cotta pot with well-drained dirt. Your best bet is to mix equal parts sand and potting soil or buy a special succulent mix. The terra cotta also dries faster than other plastic or glazed containers.

Repot your Aloe Vera if the weight of the plant causes tipping, but otherwise, don't worry about giving it lots of space. This plant thrives in snug conditions.

Place your aloe in a bright, sunny place. Otherwise, it will go dormant and stop growing. Water the plant heavily about once every two weeks, waiting until the soil dries out fully. Since this is a desert species, keeping the dirt moist will cause the roots to rot. Limp or brown leaves also signal you've overdone the H20.

If you like, you can move your potted plant outdoors for the summer, but don't put it in direct sunlight right away. Gradually place it in a brighter spot every few days to prevent overexposure.

Aloe vera is an attractive & beneficial succulent plant to grow in your home. Here are 5 reasons why you may be having problems growing aloe vera indoors. MORE DETAILS PLUS SOLUTIONS IN THE POST:

  • How to Grow Aloe Vera Plant Indoors | How to care aloe vera babies indoors in English

Aloe Vera Propagation and Offsets -

Aloe vera is a very popular succulent plant and I have already posted two videos on it – one was about separating the aloe vera babies from mother plant and repotting them independently and the second was regarding the medicinal values of aloe plant.
Now in this Video, am gonna show you How to grow Aloe vera plant indoors and how to take care of it. These are the same Aloe vera babies also called as Offsets, that we separated from mother plant a month ago. You can watch the previous videos and the links are above.

Aloe vera is easy to grow indoors as a potted plant, and makes a wonder houseplant. Given the proper care, these amazing plants can live for many, many years.
The good news is that aloe vera plants are super easy to grow plants whether indoors or outdoors, and they do very well in pots – of any size.
The Secret here is : There’s really not much to it, and guess what – your aloe vera might just do better if you ignore it, they thrive on neglect.
But, there are certain things you need to do to keep your aloe vera plant growing to it’s best. The two most important parts of aloe vera plant care are proper - watering and lighting.
The most common mistake people make when it comes to aloe vera plant care is overwatering. They donot require so much water as you think, they are succulents and already have lot of water and moisture stored in their leaves.
In nature, aloes grow in desert climates where they hardly get any rain. Aloe vera succulent plants hold water in their leaves, so they can go a very long time without water.
Overwatering will eventually cause the stem and roots of the plant to rot, eventually killing the whole plant. Obviously we definitely don’t want that to happen!
Remember one thing, Depending on the season you need to water them, like in summer you may need to water them frequently. Firstly check the soil for moisture – not just the upper layer of the soil, but a little below an inch. If its moist then donot water them. That’s it about watering.

The second most important thing about aloe vera plant care is proper lighting. Aloe vera plants will grow their best indoors when given good amount of light.
A south facing window would be the ideal spot, but they also grow well under artificial lights. If you don’t have enough sunlight in your home, then you should definitely use a grow light for your aloe vera.
Alternately, you can move your aloe vera plant twice a week into sunlight – preferably indirect sunlight, only if its not thriving indoors.
Lastly ! the Best Potting Soil For Aloe Vera Plants is one that drains very quickly, and doesn’t hold water – like cocopeat or a mix of cocopeat and soil or sand in any proportion to make it a well drained potting soil. Also, it does not require any fertilizer – whether organic or inorganic.

How To Take Care Of Aloe Vera Plant At Home:

Yes it’s true, this plant has been used for 1000’s of years & is still favored today. You find it in many homes & gardens & it also goes by many other names as well – Aloe barbadensis, First Aid Plant, True Aloe, African Aloe, Burn Plant and Miracle Plant, to mention a few.

My Aloe veras grow in pots year round outdoors & I hardly do a thing to them in terms of care. They also make fine houseplants (so fine that it’s included in my houseplant care book - see the link below) & are particularly handy to have growing in the kitchen. If you burn yourself that soothing fresh gel contained in the leaves is right there waiting for you. Head’s up because there are 2 important things you need to know to grow them successfully in your home. Hint, hint: they’re listed under the 1st 2 care tips in the post.

KEEP YOUR HOUSEPLANTS ALIVE, our houseplant care guide:

I love my Aloe vera and use it almost every day. It’s truly a plant with purpose! It was in a warm, sunny spot my front garden and both the plant and pot were looking looking a wee bit sad. It was time to take action and make my beloved plant a whole lot happier. By the way, the pot will get a facelift one of these days.

If you want to watch me repotting this Aloe, see what potting mix I used and learn how to remove the baby, then this video will show you all of that. Lucy had to help me pull it out of the pot and quite a few of the roots were lost but no worries, this is a tough plant. Almost 3 months later, it’s firmly rooted in and greening back up like crazy.

  • How to Transplant Aloe Vera Babies

If you have an aloe vera plant, you'll eventually find it growing babies. Lots of babies! Aloe vera pups can be removed from the parent plant and then potted on to make new plants and this video will show you how I do it.

I have several aloe vera plants that I use for handmade skincare and for first aide. With the annual Seed & Plant Share coming up I decided it was time to pot up my extra aloe vera pups so that I can give them away to others.

Aloe vera is well known for its use in treating burns, sunburns, and insect bites. It's also a natural astringent that can be blended into handmade lotions and creams.

    This Gardening DIY project involves:

✽ Teasing and cutting the aloe vera babies (called Pups) from the parent plant
✽ Allowing the plants to dry at room temperature and out of direct sunlight for 1-2 days
✽ Planting into a potting mix with good drainage -- perlite or grit mixed into multipurpose compost or use cactus compost
✽ Though I do water my plants a little bit after potting on the official recommendation is to wait a few days before watering.

✽ The plants will begin to grow new roots and leaves and can get as big as the mother plant within a couple of years.

  • How important it is to have an Aloe plant around your house

Today’s video is about how important it is to have a Aloe plant around your house

  • 6 Reasons Why Every Home Should Have An Aloe Vera Plant

Aloe Vera – one of the more than five hundred species of succulent in the Aloe genus – has been used throughout history to treat both internal and external maladies.
However, most people don’t recognize the full spectrum of health benefits offered by the whole of this amazing plant.
Here are top 6 reasons every home should have an Aloe-Vera plant.

    1.Digestive Aid
Aloe Vera juice can help with digestive problems.  In much the same way Aloe Vera gel soothes burned skin, the juice of the Aloe plant soothes the lining of the stomach and intestines. Aloe juice taken in moderation can help to ease disorders like irritable bowel syndrome.  It can also help to heal stomach ulcers and regulate micro-flora population in the intestines.
    2.Raise Your PH
Acidosis – a disorder where the body’s pH becomes too low – can cause all kinds of health problems such as increased susceptibility to illness and infection, mental and physical fatigue, loss of appetite, and disorientation.  Acidosis may have a number of possible causes, but they all boil down to one basic solution: find a way to bring your body and blood pH back up to a neutral level.  Here is where Aloe Vera juice comes in.  Because of its high concentration of minerals, Aloe Vera is alkalizing meaning that it may be used to treat mild cases of acidosis.
    3.Powerful Detoxifier
Due to its gelatinous nature, Aloe Vera helps to detoxify as it passes through the digestive tract.   Also, because it contains several mineral ions which aid the body in fluid transport and regulation, consumption of Aloe Vera juice can help you to eliminate toxins more efficiently through your skin via sweat.
    4.Boosts the Immune System
Aloe Vera contains several polysaccharides which stimulate increased immune function.  For this reason, Aloe Vera juice is often taken to ward off illness.
Aloe juice also contains anti-oxidant Vitamin C which further helps to strengthen the immune system against viral and bacterial attacks.
Aloe Vera juice contains several chemical components which inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi, germs, and other micro-organisms.  These include sulphur, salicylic acid, cinnamic acid, lupeol, phenol, and urea nitrogen – yet another reason to keep Aloe Vera gel in the medicine cabinet.
    6.Improve Skin and Hair Health
Aloe Vera gel offers several benefits for skin and hair.  It is a fantastic natural moisturizer that is both light-weight and non-greasy.  Anti-oxidant components in Aloe Vera also help to reduce early signs of aging.  Polysaccharides contained in Aloe Vera increase the activity of microphages in blood which fight off infection and help heal wounds faster with less scarring.  Aloe Vera gel has also been shown to stimulate production of collagen.  The high levels of amino-acids in Aloe gel also increase the amount of energy available for cell regeneration.  Aloe’s anti-microbial properties may help fight off scalp infections and prevent hair-loss.  Finally, Aloe Vera gel is full of vitamins and minerals that promote healthy skin and hair.

  • This is What Aloe Vera Does in Your Body

Have you ever thought about the amazing health benefits of aloe vera? Do you know that the plant is not only limited to topical use?
This healing plant which is known to Egyptians as the plant of immortality and Native Americans as the wand of heaven comes with a plethora of mind-blowing healing properties you wouldn't want to miss.

There's a good chance that you already have an aloe vera plant which comes in handy for small emergencies like cuts, burns and the like, but the plant can do a lot more than that.

It can also heal you from the inside when ingested! Why do you think the Egyptians called it the plant of immortality?

For starters, aloe vera is loaded with over 200 biologically active, naturally occurring components including amino acids, vitamins, polysaccharides, enzymes and minerals that aid nutrient absorption.

Moreover, the healing plant is also chock full of anti-viral, antibacterial and antifungal properties that helps the immune system get rid of toxins and harmful pathogens.
That's not all! Aloe vera still has a lot in store for your health. Let's check them out!

The very first thing to note is that this plant of immortality contains essential enzymes including lipase and amylase — both of them aid digestion by breaking down fat and sugar molecules. Moreover, a particular molecule known as Bradykinase can also reduce inflammation.

    Vitamins and Minerals
It's also good to point out that aloe vera contains vitamin B12 which is essential for the production of red blood cells. Moreover, consuming aloe can help the body to absorb vitamin B12 more easily and utilize it — this will help tackle the issue of deficiency.
Besides vitamin B12, aloe vera also contains vitamin A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, and B6. It's also a good source of folic acid and choline (choline is essential for normal brain development, liver function, muscle movement and more!).

Aloe vera is also chock full of minerals that are essential for our overall health and well-being. This healing plant contains magnesium, calcium, potassium, chromium, selenium, sodium, copper, iron and manganese — these minerals work together to keep your metabolism in tip-top shape.

    Amino Acids
Do you know that aloe vera contains a good amount of the essential amino acids required by the human body? It has 20 of the 22 essential amino acids your body needs to function properly. That's not all! The plant also contains salicylic acid which helps get rid of bacteria and inflammation.

What are Some Other Uses of Aloe Vera?

Aloe vera works as an amazing body cleanser — it can flush out toxic matter from the kidneys, bladder, stomach, liver, spleen, and colon. It's also good to point out that aloe can provide effective relief from more immediate health issues like upset stomach, indigestion, ulcers and gut inflammation.

The plant also mitigates joint inflammation, so it's sure to work great for people who have arthritis. Aloe vera can also provide much-needed relief to mouth ulcers or canker sores.

    How to Take Aloe Vera?
For starters, you can choose to consume aloe directly from the plant or get aloe juice from health food stores — this is actually the easiest and most palatable option. The good thing is, you can mix the aloe juice in whatever tickles your fancy — it's sure to work great in your juices or smoothies.

You can also choose to drink it straight up! Just be sure that you get pure aloe juice or gel — good ones are made from the whole leaf or the inner filet.

    Here's to good health!

In this video, I will show you how I water my Aloe Vera Plant.

Overwatering an Aloe Vera plant is one of the quickest ways to kill your plant.

When an Aloe vera plant is overwatered, it causes the roots to be emerged in water. When the roots are stuck in water for a long period of time, it causes root rot.

Root rot is when the roots of the plant become super soft and moldy and the plant dies.

Here are some tips on how to correctly water your Aloe Vera plant:

    1. Use the Touch Test to see if your soil is dry.
    2. Water deeply but not frequently
    3. Make sure the Aloe Vera plant has holes in the bottom
    4. After watering, empty out the excess water that drains into the container
    5. Record the future watering date on your phone as soon as you water your plant.

  • Aloe vera plant leaves turning brown

Aloe Vera plant leaves turning brown. fix the problem of aloe Vera leaves turning brown. Fix dying aloe Vera plant. see more here:

    Improper Lighting

Aloe vera plants do well grown in direct sunlight, but sometimes too much light can damage your aloe's leaves. Plants grown in very hot sunlight can become sunburned, leading to browning. This is especially common with plants that have been moved from a shadier location to a very sunny one suddenly, with no adjustment period. If you plan on moving your indoor aloe outdoors, you'll need to start with a shady spot and gradually transition the plant to a sunnier spot. To deal with sunburned aloe plants, simply move them into a spot with more shade and diffuse light.

    Temperature Changes

Aloe vera plants are sensitive to sudden changes in temperature. When the weather becomes cold and wet, move your potted aloe vera inside; otherwise it could start to brown and die. Ideally, the temperature for these plants shouldn't dip below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, if moving a potted aloe plant outdoors for the summer, be aware that very hot and dry conditions can stress your aloe, leading to brown leaves. You'll want to keep the plant in a cooler location to start and gradually transition it into a warmer one. For non-potted plants that can't be moved, insulate them with blankets during very cold months, especially at night.

    Watering Issues

Known for their ability to store water within their leaves, aloe plants do not need frequent watering. In fact, over watering your aloe can lead to root rot and browning. This is especially true for potted aloe plants that don't have proper drainage holes. To prevent browned leaves due to over watering, water your aloe only when the soil has completely dried out. When you do water the plant, do so thoroughly so you soak the soil. In winter temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit outdoors, water your aloe much less frequently because the plant is in a dormant phase. Less frequent watering also helps to minimize frost damage from wet soil if temperatures drop below freezing. If your aloe is looking withered, dry and brown, water it a bit more frequently, as it may not be getting enough water, especially if the weather is very warm.

    Soil Problems

As succulents, aloe vera plants require well-drained soil to prevent root rot, which leads to a brown plant. Ideally, you want a cacti potting mix or garden soil that contains extra perlite and sand. The same soil recommendation applies both to potted plants and non-potted ones.

In terms of fertilization, you'll need to fertilize your aloe plant once per month, only in the spring and summer months. A houseplant fertilizer diluted to half the usual strength works well.

  • How to revive a dying aloe vera plant step by step

How to revive a dying aloe vera plant step by step. Learn more here on my channel. . About how to save a dying aloe vera plant. kindly follow the instructions given below.

    1. Remove the Aloe vera plant from its current pot. One of the typical reasons for Aloe vera plant death is root rot. In order to determine if this is the case, you need to first take the plant out of its pot.
Loosely hold the base of the plant and the bottom of your pot. Tip the pot upside down, and continue holding the aloe plant with your other hand. Hit the bottom of the pot with your hand or knock it against a table ledge.
Depending on the size of your aloe vera plant, you may need another person to help you. One person should hold the plant base with both hands, while the other person tips the pot upside down and hits the bottom. You might also find it helpful to jostle the pot back and forth until the plant comes loose.
If you still have difficulties removing your plant with two sets of hands, you can run a trowel or knife around the interior of the pot and try releasing it again, or push some of the soil out through the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot. If your plant still does not come out of the pot, you may need to break your pot, but this is a last resort.
While releasing the Aloe Vera plant from its pot, be sure that you are keeping the plant itself as steady as possible. All the movement should be centered on the pot, not the plant itself. In other words, hold, don’t pull, the plant. Hitting the bottom of the pot will keep your roots intact, and gravity will push the plant downward
    2. Tend the roots of aloe vera plant. Examine the roots and determine how many of the roots are still healthy. Mushy roots are characteristic of root rot of aloe vera and need to be removed. Any roots that aren’t black or mushy are good and can be kept.
    3. Chose a pot that is one third larger than the root systemof aloe vera . Any excess soil will hold water and could cause root rot in the future, so a smaller pot is better than a larger one.
The roots of Aloe vera plants grow horizontally, rather than vertically. Aloe vera plants can also become quite heavy, and the weight of the plant can cause a narrow pot to tip over. Thus, select a wide pot rather than a deep or narrow pot.
    4. Use potting soil suitable for cactus or succulents. This type of soil has a higher sand content and produces a well-draining environment for your aloe vera plant. You can find this type of soil easily at your local garden center.
    5. Replant your Aloe vera. Prepare the pot by filling it with the potting soil mixture, and shake your Aloe vera plant gently to remove about a third of the soil that has attached itself to the root ball. Place your plant in the newly prepared pot and cover the top with more of the potting soil mixture. Be sure that the entire root ball is covered with the soil mixture , but don't bury the plant deeper than it was in the first pot.
    6. Do not water immediately after repotting. Your Aloe vera plant needs a few days to readjust to its new pot and to repair any broken roots.
    7. Check the soil. You can tell if your Aloe vera plant needs to be watered by pressing your index finger a few inches down into the soil. If the soil is dry, your plant needs water. Aloe vera plants are succulents and do not need to be watered often. Overwatering can kill your aloe vera plant.
    8. Modify watering according to the season. Aloe vera plants need more water in the warmer months, but less in the cooler months. Water less often in Fall and Winter, especially if your aloe vera plant lives in a cool space.
    9. Examine the leaves. As a succulent, Aloe vera plants store water in their leaves. If you notice the leaves are dropping or are becoming almost transparent, your plant likely needs water.
    10. Water aloe vera until the soil is just moist. Water should never sit on top of the surface of the soil, so water with a light hand. Continue to check your plant weekly or bi weekly by testing the soil to see if it needs to be watered.
    11. Check the leaves. If the leaves of your Aloe vera plant are turning brown or red, your plant may be sunburned
    12. Reposition your aloe vera plant. Move your plant to a place where it receives indirect, rather than direct, sunlight
13.Water your aloe vera plant. Check the soil and determine if your plant needs to be watered. The soil is likely dry if your plant has been getting too much sunlight, since the water would be evaporating more .
    14. Remove dead leaves of aloe vera. With a sharp, sterilized knife, cut the leaf away from the plant at the base. Any leaves that are dead take nutrients from other parts of the plant, so be sure to remove them so that the rest of your plant doesn’t suffer.

  • Succulent Transplanting ???? Aloe vera

Aloe vera is one of the best succulents to grow indoors because it is beautiful, easy to care for and useful for treating minor burns. Aloe needs a bright location and well draining soil to thrive. Use a succulent specific potting mix, or add perlite and sand to regular potting mix. Pluck out new shoots to transplant, allowing them to heal for a few days before watering.

Aloe plants come from arid regions of Southern and tropical Africa, Madagascar and the Arabian Peninsula. Aloe can exist in conditions in which other plants usually wither and die. The plant closes the pores of the skin in extreme situations, keeping moisture inside the leaf. A fairly large amount of moisture is created in the leaves of this plant.
The usual way to propagate the aloe plant is cutting the stem. However, we found this video on YouTube in which this plant was propagated by one leaf. The link to the video is in the description.
We decided to try this method too. The idea to repeat it was born spontaneously and without any preparation.
First of all, we cut the leaves of three types of aloe plant. Then we dried up the cuttings for two or three days in a shade at a temperature not lower than + 20 ° C.
The cut is deepened by 2-3 cm. After that, the plant should be watered.
Honestly, at first, we were skeptical of this method. Because some cuttings, unfortunately, have died after two months. However, survived plants have developed roots and felt great.
In December, some cuttings developed young rosettes. They didn’t develop evenly on different leaves. Some cuttings will develop a rosette only in the spring.
But, we should say that this experiment was performed with some mistakes:
    1. Mother plants were not prepared;
    2. The cuttings were carried out in July - in a very hot period of time.
Therefore, we believe that if we exclude these mistakes, the survival rate of the cuttings will be in the range of 90-100%.
