  • 5 Clever Filaments that Keep Trash Out of the Ocean for #TeamSeas!

    14:52

Your 3D printer can help clean up the ocean! Reduce, reuse, and recycle the Pacific plastics with these six intriguing 3D printing filaments that keep waste out of the ocean.

This special edition of our Every Filament series is a fundraiser for #TeamSeas! Click the links or visit to pitch in. Every dollar means one less pound of dolphin-tangling trash. Bella will thank you.

While cleaning up the ocean is a critical task, only policy changes can prevent it from getting worse. Email or tweet your Senators, Reps, MP's, etc to enforce anti-dumping laws and recycling mandates. Responsible consumption doesn't substitute for preventing consumption - repair and reuse before you replace and redesign.

In today's video we are going to answer the question of what you can print or how many parts you can print with a spool of filament. This is a question I have gotten many times from people not involved with 3d printing that always proves to be difficult to answer. I am hoping to answer those questions with a visual representation.

In today's video we are looking at two filament dryers from EIBOS the Cyclopes as well as their brand new EasDry. I have had a hell of a time with wet filament the past couple of years and have been looking for a simple solution to both dry out the filament I have as well as preserve them better. The dryer I have used for the past year has worked but these new dryer have some serious improvements that I am very excited about.

  • Eryone PLA+ 3D printer filament... Is it better than PETG?

    9:17

If you want to try Eryone PLA+ filament enter code johnaldred on checkout at for 12% discount on your order.

Most of the things I create with my 3D printers are practical items. They're devices designed to be used. They help me with photography, video or day-to-day tasks. Normally I print these with PETG, but Eryone reached out to me to ask if I'd like to try their new PLA+ filament. So, I said sure, why not?

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed. It prints just as easily as regular PLA but the parts generally seem more durable and less brittle. It'll almost certainly be replacing regular PLA for me for prototyping and test-fitting parts, and it might even be able to replace PETG for some of the final pieces I want to print.

    Models printed for this video...

    Benchy -
    XYZ 20mm Calibration Cube -
    SD Card Holder -
    Fhuable's Camera Gimbal -

You can find Eryone PLA+ on Amazon or you can buy direct from (they usually ship out from your local Amazon warehouse anyway). If you go via their website, you can get 10% off your order with the code johnaldred on checkout. If you'd prefer to go with Amazon...

  • Labists Red PLA 3D Printer Filament Unboxing And Test Prints Silent Review

    2:08

This is a silent review with some comments about the filament. I liked the filament, but found it impractical for where I live, where temperatures are above 100F for half of the year.

It prints beautifully and flows smooth at 205-210C and adheres well to the Ender 3 V2 stock (Carborundum) print surface at 65C. Definitely recommend for aesthetic pieces or low impact parts but nothing requiring any heat resistance as it can deform over time at 100 degrees F. It is softer than most PLA's I have used and much easier to work with a heat gun than others as well.

Good filament, that prints with a great finish. However, because of it's low tolerance to heat, I'll be giving it a 4/5 stars. The spool was rolled very clean though, props for that.

    7:14

ERYONE provided me with two rolls of their PLA material for review! I did a majority of my tests with the blue and as you can see in the video, the results are very nice! This material is very easy to print with and a good value for the price (Amazon has it for $22.99 for a 1 KG spool). All prints were done on my ERYONE Thinker SE 3D Printer.

  • Making my OWN Filament from Failed Prints with the 3Devo Composer

    15:19

Since starting my journey with 3D printing 5 years ago I've been yearning to find ways to make the hobby more environmentally sustainable. There are many small things we can do, like designing to avoid support material and minimize material used, promoting functional and meaningful prints, printing with less harmful plastics like PLA... but one big goal that has been difficult to achieve is to eliminate any plastic waste by recycling any failed prints, rafts, support materials, etc. Ideally, we should be able to turn that plastic right back into filament to print with again! Well today I got my hands on a machine that can do just that, the 3Devo Composer 450. This video covers my initial experience getting started with the machine.

This video is not sponsored, but the Composer was sent to me for free so I could share my experience.

  • Ender 5 Plus Matte PLA Filament By PRINSFIL Review

    2:16

This arrived in a branded box with the filament sealed in a thick plastic bag and the main reel wrapped in plastic, the box also contained a resalable plastic bag along with a small silicagel pack to avoid moister contamination.

I have an Ender 5 plus 3D printer to which I have changed the extruder to a metal Bowden extruder, changed the bed springs for Silicone plugs and changed the tubing to Creality Capricorn Bowden tubing, the tubing is 1.9mm ± 0.05mm inner diameter so is totally unforgiving of any filament with any variations or defects in size.

After unpacking the filament I set it up on the printer with no issues, after levelling the bed I did a small test print and looking at it decided to set the temperature to 210, this is the upper limit recommended on the box but above the 200 stated in the advert. I loaded up a cat print on dynamic quality 0.16mm and started the print, I was very pleased with the result and everything printed nice and smoothly.

Overall this delivers a nice black matt finish, I had no issues and have since completed three additional prints using the filament all with good results, I am fairly new to 3D printing and have a lot to learn moving from a small printer to a large more expensive one, am really enjoying 3D printing and have previously experienced poor quality and irregular filament which can be soul destroying, I would recommend this filament as I have had no issues, I am pleased with the results and it seems very good quality.

About this item: Matte PLA Filament, PRINSFIL Filament PLA 1.75 mm, 3D Printing Materials for 3D Printer, 1 kg 1 Spool, Matt Black

Our 3d printer filaments are made of high-quality PLA plastic (polylactic acid), it's one of the best choice for 3D printing applications

Printer Used: Creality 3D Ender 5 Plus 3D Printer, with BL touch, Glass Building Plate and Touch Screen, Dual Z Axis Lead Screw, Large Print Size of 350x350x400mm, Modified: changed the bed springs for Silicone plugs, Creality Capricorn Bowden tubing, metal Bowden extruder

    17:27

6 filament dryers tested in this video covers approx 90% of the market. Each of them have separate review video, so in this video the only question I want to answer is WHICH ONE DRIES THE BEST?
For this testing I prepared the experiment, which will be repeatable with future dryer review videos and that is drying the sponge with added 2mL of water. I followed the temperatures and humidity inside the boxes using Arduino and HDT22 sensor.
