Indian Army Corps of Signals or Army Daredevils perform extreme motorcycle stunts on Republic Day.

Republic Day is the name of a holiday in several countries to commemorate the day when they became republics. In India, Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into force--on 26 January 1950--replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. It is one of three national holidays in India. The new constitution, as drafted and approved by the Constituent Assembly of India, was mandated to take effect on 26 January 1950--and India became a republic. While India's Independence Day celebrates its freedom from British Rule, Republic Day celebrates the coming into force of its constitution. The main Republic Day celebration is held in the national capital, New Delhi, at the Rajpath before the President of India. Celebrations are also held with varying degrees of formality in state capitals, where the governor of the state unfurls the National Flag of India.

India gained its independence on 15 August 1947, after which the process of preparing a constitution was started. The Constitution was passed on 26 November 1949 in the Constituent Assembly. It was adopted on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, when the country became a republic in true sense. 26 January was selected, because it was this day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence was passed.

To mark this occasion, a grand parade is held near Rajpath in New Delhi, the capital of India, beginning from Raisina Hill near the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidential Palace), along the Rajpath, past India Gate and on to the historic Red Fort in the old quarter of the city. Different infantry, cavalry and mechanized regiments compose the Indian Army, the Indian Marines and the Indian Air Force's march in formation, who are decked in all their finery and official decorations.

The President of India, who is also the Commander in Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, relishes the salute. The Chief Guest of the parade is the Head of State or Head of Government of another nation. The parade also includes many traditional dance troupes, to symbolize the cultural heritage of India. It traditionally ends with a colourful flypast by Indian Air Force jets in a tiranga formation. Similar parades are held in the capitals of all the states of India, where the governors of respective states take the salute. The official conclusion of Republic Day festivities is much later on 29 January, three days after the Republic Day, which is called 'Beating Retreat'.

Indian Army Corps of Signals (Army daredevils) is a corps and an arm of the Indian Army, which handles its military communications. It was formed on 15 February 1911 as a separate entity under Lieutenant Colonel S H Powell, and went on to make important contributions to World War I and World War II. The corps celebrated its 100 year anniversary of its raising on 15 February 2011.

The Corps works closely with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to develop command and control software, notably the Samyukta Electronic Warfare System, a mobile integrated electronic warfare system, developed along with Bharat Electronics Limited.

The Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow is a premiere training institute of the Corps of Signals, while its war museum is situated at Jabalpur, where 1 Signal Regiment is based.

Republic day (celebrated on 26th January) is the day Indian Constitution came into force.
The day chosen is a special one and we waited for 2 months after the constitution was enacted to declare it open on this day.
20 years before we became a modern republic on 26th Jan 1950,
on this day we declared Purna Swaraj or Declaration of Independence in Lahore on the banks of River Ravi. Purna Swaraj.
Congress was at its full strength then, with Bose, Rajaji, Nehru and Patel with the Mahatma.
Within 6 weeks of this declaration, Mahatma started the iconic Dandi march to start implementing the idea.
Thus 26th Jan is our first independence day.

Our Constitution, the longest in the world, was drafted by a team of stalwarts led by B.R. Ambedkar.
The team included Alladi Krishnaswamy Iyer, Gopalswami Iyengar, TT. Krishnamachary, DP Khaitan, Sir Benegal, Kanyalal Munshi and Md Saadullah.
The Constuition has 448 articles, 12 schedules and 118 amendments.

The original book of our Constitution is a 479 page calligraphic edition signed by all our framers and preserved in a helium filled case in our Parliament.

There are just two original copies of the Constitution in the country written in Hindi and English.
They have been preserved in helium-filled cases in the Parliament of India.
This constitution has been calligraphed and not printed.
Such photo lithographic copies are in circulation and only 1000 copies have been written till date.
The President addresses the Republic Day whereas; the Prime Minister addresses the Independence Day.
Our Constitution is the longest in the world. You definitely cannot read it in a single day.

The Constitution came into a legal circulation at 10:18 AM on the 26th of January, 1950.

There are 12 Schedules and 395 Articles. Till 2006 there are 96 Amendments are made.|

26th January: Republic Day On 26th January 1950 India became a republic. It got its first President. The day is celebrated every year as Republic Day. It is a national festival.
History Behind the day: The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country's transition towards becoming an independent republic.
26 January was chosen as the date for Republic day because it was on this day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress as opposed to the Dominion status offered by the British Regime.

In Delhi, a grand celebration is held at Rajpath where the President takes the salute from the parade. Various states exhibit tableaux to show their achievements. Cultural programmes are presented. Brave soldiers are awarded. Brave children are also honoured. Public buildings are lit brightly at night. Functions are also held in state capitals. National flags are unfurled. Patriotic speeches are made. People feel proud of their country. There is an atmosphere of happiness all around.

The president of the india hoists the flag at Rajpath every year, which is followed by colourful parade.
Not only capital New Delhi but also It observes all over India like all states capital, schools and colleges etc. In this Day students perform various cultural activities to entertain guests. All the performances pay respect to our country's achievements and achievers. Indian classical dances, yoga performance, drills and another activities are displayed to showcase the skills school is honing in its students. In this day Chief guest and the Principal host the National flag, and they also give motivational speech to students. They inform the students that what are they capable of and how can they inspiration from great achievers and also prizes are given away by the chief guest and the day ends for enthusiastic students on a happy note.
The Indians swear to make improvement of our nation and country. On this Republic day we all indians cast, Religion, colour above all swear in a one voice. On this day we all are delighted in Nation love. It gives an opportunity to increase our country and also to progress our locality.
Freedom has not come easy, it is because of the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, so never take it for granted. Happy Republic day! A thousand salutes to this great nation of ours. May it become even more prosperous and great.
