    Customer Review:

    Kanishk says, “Let me start of by congratulating the entire Edureka team for putting together such an amazing content for their courses. I am enrolled in their live course and my learning experience has been phenomenal. I tried learning Linux Administration on my own but in every attempt i hit a dead end. However, I learned Linux Administration from the very best. The quality and experience of the instructor are excellent and this reflects in his high quality post lecture hands on projects and assignments. I must also take this opportunity to thank the support staff for prompt doubt solving via their student forums. I am a permanent member of theirs and will continue to learn from Edureka.”

  • Trillions of Questions, No Easy Answers: A movie about how Google Search works

    58:11

    Like any typical home movie, this one started in a dusty basement with boxes of old footage. Some conversations in 2019, a field trip to a data center, and an unexpected stop at a hardware store later, it came together into a story–our story. Like all home movies, there’s a good chance that the only people who will swoon over it are the people who are in it. But, if you’ve ever wondered how Search works, or are curious to see what goes on behind the scenes, there may be something here for you too.

  • From Windows to Linux, answering common questions

    20:41

    Support the content I make online at
    When looking to Linux from Windows, there are many questions that get raised. In today's video I hope to answer some of your Linux questions about Linux based operating systems.

    The full comment as left my Audio Visual Post:
    --------------------
    Glad I found this video. I'm using Linux Mint 19 right now via a USB drive. Still haven't decided to install it alongside Windows 10. One reason is, I tried to install Zorin 12.4 Core and it did not recognize my Windows 10 OS stating, No other operating systems have been detected on this machine. , and gave me an only option to format my drive and install Zorin. I DID NOT by the way! lol. I like the feel of Linux and want to learn as much about it as possible but I do not want to get rid of Windows 10 for gaming purposes and video editing software and uploading to Twitch and maybe YouTube again. SO HERE ARE 6 QUESTIONS I HOPE CAN BE ADDRESSED. ^_^

    1. Do I need to partition my C: Drive first with the required amount of hard drive space to successfully install Linux. Linux usually states 4.5 GB of hard drive space is needed but I plan on allocating around 20GB seeing as I have 72GB of free space. Any advice on how much space to allocate is appreciated.

    2. I am using my Samsung TV with HDMI. What setting do I need to look for to switch between monitors?

    3. How come Linux Mint 19 isn't recognizing my two SSD Drives but recognizes my detachable drives? Is it because I haven't installed Linux fully?

    4. How effective is WINE at running Windows 10 apps? I have an MSI GT80s gaming laptop and software such as Dragon Gaming Center, Silent Option fan control, MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner are important decision makers when switching bteween OS'es.

    5. Will Linux be compatible with Nvidia graphic drivers? I will have to do some research to find out if Nvidia makes compatible graphic drivers for Linux.

    6. If WINE works acceptably well with Windows 10 software, will I need to keep starting WINE each time or is there some sort of auto load function? That would be great! THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL ASSISTANCE! ^_^

  • Hey DT, Will Linux Become Centralized?

    23:25

  • Forever answer to Best Linux Distro argument

    2:42

    All Linux distributions (distros) are equally 'the best' as long as they are on certain criteria. Choosing one over the other is only a matter of personal choice between convenience versus control because it takes efforts and dedication to setup a polished desktop from scratch.

    This short video attempts to defog the myth of why I switched from x to y and y is the best distro.

    About the Course

    Edureka's PHP & MySQL with MVC framework, will introduce attendees to PHP, MySQL and CakePHP MVC framework. The course will cover aspects of how to use PHP, MySQL along with CakePHP MVC framework to create powerful and easy to maintain database driven websites. The course will also cover Installation & Configuration of PHP, MySQL and CakePHP. Attendees will also get to implement one project towards the end of the course.

    Why learn PHP & MySQL with MVC Frameworks?

    PHP scripting and MySQL database are one of the worlds most popular open source techniques used to develop websites. Add an advantage of an MVC framework to it and you can develop powerful, dynamic and easy to maintain database driven websites. PHP, MySQL, and CakePHP are also platform independent i.e. You can easily port a website developed on a windows machine to a Linux based Apache web server with minimal to no changes. The CakePHP MVC architect also adds some additional security against threats like SQL injections, hacking etc.

  • Unix & Linux: How to escape quotes in shell?

    4:04

    Unix & Linux: How to escape quotes in shell?

    The Question: I'm having trouble with escaping characters in bash. I'd like to escape single
    and double quotes while running a command under a different user. For the
    purposes of this question let's say I want to echo the following on the screen:
    'single quote phrase' double quote phrase
    How can I escape all the special chars, if I also need to switch to a different
    user:
    sudo su USER -c echo 'single quote phrase' double quote phrase
    Of course, this doesn't produce the right result.

    Solutions: Please watch the whole video to see all solutions, in order of how many people found them helpful

    == This solution helped 112 people ==
    You can use the following string literal syntax:
    > echo $''single quote phrase' double quote phrase'
    'single quote phrase' double quote phrase
    **** From man bash ****
    Words of the form $'string' are treated specially. The word expands
    to string, with backslash-escaped characters replaced as specified by
    the ANSI C standard. Backslash escape sequences, if present, are
    decoded as follows:
    a alert (bell)
    b backspace
    e
    E an escape character
    f form feed
    n new line
    r carriage return
    t horizontal tab
    v vertical tab
    backslash
    ' single quote
    double quote
    nnn the eight-bit character whose value is the octal value nnn (one
    to three digits)
    xHH the eight-bit character whose value is the hexadecimal value HH
    (one or two hex digits)
    cx a control-x character

    == This solution helped 12 people ==
    In a POSIX shell, assuming in your string there is no variable, command or
    history expansion, and there is no newline, follow these basic prescriptions:
    1. To quote a generic string with single quotes, perform the following
    actions:
    1. Substitute any sequence of non-single-quote characters with the
    same sequence with added leading and trailing single quotes: 'aaa'
    ==> ''aaa''
    2. Escape with a backslash every preexisting single quote character: '
    ==> '
    In particular, ''aaa'' ==> ''aaa''
    2. To quote a generic string with double quotes, perform the following
    actions:
    1. Add leading and trailing double quotes: aaa ==> aaa
    2. Escape with a backslash every double quote character and every
    backslash character: ==> , ==>
    A couple of examples:
    ''aaabbb''cccddd'' ==> '''aaabbb''''cccddd'''
    ==> ''aaabbb''cccddd''
    so that you example could be expanded with the following:
    #!/bin/sh

    echo ''aaa''' bbb'
    echo 'aaa' bbb

    sudo su enzotib -c 'echo ''''aaa''''''' bbb''
    sudo su enzotib -c 'echo '''aaa''' bbb'

    sudo su enzotib -c echo ''aaa''' bbb'
    sudo su enzotib -c echo 'aaa' bbb

    == This solution helped 17 people ==
    Simple example of escaping quotes in shell:
    $ echo 'abc'''abc'
    abc'abc
    $ echo abcabc
    abcabc
    It's done by finishing already opened one ('), placing escaped one ('), then
    opening another one (').
    Alternatively:
    $ echo 'abc'''abc'
    abc'abc
    $ echo abc''abc
    abcabc
    It's done by finishing already opened one ('), placing quote in another quote
    ('), then opening another one (').
