    The world's first warp bubble emerged as a recent accidental discovery by DARPA-funded researchers, according to the latest report. The Limitless Space Institute (LS) team led by former NASA warp drive expert Dr. Harold G Sonny White has spotted an interesting encounter that could be used by the spacecraft for faster travels.

    Real-World Warp Bubble



    In an interview with The Debrief earlier this week, White said that their serendipitous encounter with the warp bubble is not about it being a bubble analog. The specialist said that it was a real and tiny creation of its kind, making this accidental vision a significant breakthrough.

    Initially, we knew that Miguel Alcubierre, a Mexican mathematician, tackled the warp drive through his mathematical calculation. In 1994, he proposed that this science fiction-like discovery could allow space vehicles to traverse the universe without violating any physics laws.

    Since then, many scientists have shared their thoughts about warp drives. Some of them knew that it was impossible to devise some proposals.

    Back in September, Tech Times reported that NASA wrote its explanation about the Alcubierre drive . According to the space agency, the warp drive borrows the two concepts from the famed General Relativity by Albert Einstein.

    While reworking what Alcubierre did in the past was possible, White said that they would be needing to lessen the energy requirements and materials from the original creation. This potentially gives the experts a ghost of a chance about its occurrence.

    Seemingly, it resembles what we usually see in Star Trek movies, but this real-world warp drive could also not require the reduction of exotic matter, according to some physicists.

    How Does a Warp Drive Work?

    In a report by The Conversation, the Alcubierre warp drive works by making a space-time around the spaceship. It would curve the latter to lessen the distances between them.

    For the creation of negative energy, an imbalance between the particles could take place. The mass would trap a particle while the other one would be the negative energy in the space-time bubble.

    However, there's another statement why light-speed travel is bad, per Tech Times' report. First, the spacecraft could not cope up with the speed which would result in its destruction.

    The second reason why it is bad is because of the time dilation which means that time slows down when you move faster.

    Former NASA scientist and 'warp drive' expert Dr Harold G Sonny White claims to have made a breakthrough discovery that may one day let us build a warp-speed spacecraft and get to Mars even quicker than Elon Musk plans.

    His team at the Limitless Space Institute had been researching complex nano-scale structures and mind-bending quantum physics that had nothing to do with building a super-fast warp drive.

    Then one day, they suddenly made what Dr White calls 'an accidental discovery': a 'warp bubble' that could pave the way for real-life warp engines.

    The team discovered a 'nano-scale' structure that Dr White said: one could build that will generate a negative vacuum energy density distribution that is very similar to what's required for [a] space warp.

    As White and his team are focused on their original project, they have no plans to build a warp drive any time soon.

    However, they have proposed several further experiments to work out how to build a functioning warp engine. They are building a small engine as an experiment to understand how a warp bubble can help to generate warp drive with a warp engine.

    They plan to string together these 'warp bubbles' into a chain so researchers can better understand the physics behind them—and pave the way to work out how to make an actual spacecraft out of them.

    The Alcubierre warp field as described by Miguel Alcubierre would help us surpass the speed of light many times which means that if we had a ship that could go 10 times the speed of light, it would take only 153 days to reach Proxima Centauri.
    Much more reasonable I would say. But building a warp drive is not an easy task.


    Miguel Alcubierre is a theoretical physicist famous for the Warp Field theory.
    In May 1994 he published a paper titled “The Warp Drive: Hyper-fast travel within general relativity” however, his goal with this paper, contrary to popular belief had little to do with warp drives, it was to show that a distortion of space and time is indeed possible within the realms of general relativity, and therefore we could travel faster than the speed of light.

    In millennia past, people have progressively figured out more effective ways of getting from one place to another. Previously, long distances could only be traversed by horseback or even on foot, but today we have at our disposal a variety of modes of transportation, including cars, planes, trains, and even futuristic ships.
    So, while we've already made progress in developing faster and more efficient forms of transportation on Earth, the question now is how manned space flight will evolve in this regard. As is well known, a space probe launched from Earth takes many months, if not years, to reach its galactic target. It's hard to say what the future holds for this venture.
    A fascinating question arises when we follow the thought experiment of breaking ever new cosmic speed records to its logical conclusion: Will there ever be light-speed ships? In today's video, we will quickly take a closer look at this fascinating issue with you.

    Light travels quickly because it has a short path to travel. According to cosmological laws, nothing can move faster than light. In reality, it is the fastest object on the planet. There is no limit to the distance that light may travel; it travels at a speed of 186,000 miles per second. In the blink of an eye, light may travel from Los Angeles to New York City. Faster than any commercial airliner by more than 10,000 orders of magnitude.
    Proxima Centauri is the nearest star to Earth. It's 4.25 light-years away, or 25 trillion miles away (40 trillion km). The Parker Solar Probe, which is already in orbit, will achieve a top speed of 450,000 mph, making it the fastest spacecraft ever. At such speed, it would take just 20 seconds to travel from Los Angeles to New York City, yet the solar probe would take 6,633 years to reach Earth's nearest neighboring solar system.
    Everything in our Universe is bound by a few simple rules. The conservation of energy, momentum, and angular momentum is guaranteed anytime two quanta come into contact with each other. There are no differences between the physics of a forward-moving system of particles and its mirrored antiparticle counterpart when time is reversed in a mirror. Nothing can ever travel faster than the speed of light, and nothing with mass will ever be able to achieve this coveted feat.
    Many people have come up with innovative ways to get around this final restriction. In theory, tachyons have been introduced as hypothetical particles that could theoretically exceed the speed of light, but tachyons must have imaginary masses and do not exist in the real world. Although a sufficiently twisted space in General Relativity could produce other, shorter paths for light, there are no known wormholes in our physical universe. While quantum entanglement can produce suspicious behavior at a distance, no information can be transported faster than light.
    People will have to go faster than the speed of light if they ever hope to travel effortlessly between stars. However, until now, faster-than-light travel has only existed in science fiction.
    In Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, humans can use jump drives to travel between planets, stars, and even the entire cosmos. Interstellar astronauts and Thor heroes exploit wormholes to travel across solar systems in just a few seconds.
    Warp drive technology is another option that Star Trek fans are familiar with. Theoretically, warp drives are conceivable, but a long way off. One of the many obstacles separating warp drive theory from reality was reported to have been surmounted in two recent studies published in March 2021.
    However, how do these speculative warp drives actually operate in reality? As for the future of humankind, will they be able to travel at warp speed?
    Albert Einstein's General Relativity theory is the foundation of modern physics' knowledge of spacetime. According to General Relativity, nothing can travel faster than the speed of light in the universe. Mass and energy can also cause spacetime to distort around massive objects, such as stars and black holes. Many space heroes are afraid of falling into or getting stuck in a gravity well because of this curvature. John Campbell and Isaac Asimov, among the first science fiction writers, regarded warping as a technique to get around the speed limit.
    Wouldn't it be cool if a spaceship could shrink the volume of space around it while simultaneously growing the volume behind it? The warp drive from Star Trek is based on this concept.
    Mexican theoretical physicist Miguel Alcubierre demonstrated in 1994 that compressing spacetime in front of the spacecraft while expanding it behind was mathematically achievable under the laws of General Relativity.

    What is the fastest thing you have ever seen? A Cheetah? A Bugatti? Or a rocket? Well, the fastest thing is what's making you see these fast things and that's light. It is the fastest thing to exist. If something were to exceed this limit, it can move backward in time. Not only this, but the interstellar space travel could also reduce, however, it's the law of the universe that nothing can move faster than light. But the times have changed now and with new technology, we can travel faster than the speed of light! Welcome to Cosmos lab, your one station for all the news from space. Join us in today’s video to find out about the new technology that is going to travel faster than the speed of light.
    Light travels at a speed of 186,000 miles per second (300,000 kilometers per second), and it takes just over a second to travel from the Earth to the Moon. In the blink of an eye, light may travel from Los Angeles to New York.
    While 1% of anything may not seem like much, when it comes to light, that's still a lot of speed – close to 7 million miles per hour! It would take a little over a second to go from Los Angeles to New York at 1% the speed of light. This is tens of thousands of times faster than a typical commercial jet.
    If we take in contrast some other speedy things then the bullets may travel at more than three times the speed of sound, at 2,600 miles per hour. With a peak speed of 7,000 mph, NASA's X3 jet plane is the fastest aircraft on the planet. Although this is great, it is still only 0.001% of the speed of light.
    It's not that we can’t go faster. Spacecraft are the fastest human-made objects. They employ rockets to break free from the gravity of the Earth, which requires a speed of 25,000 mph. NASA's Parker Solar Probe is the spacecraft that is going the quickest. After launching from Earth in 2018, it skimmed the Sun's searing atmosphere and accelerated to 330,000 mph using the Sun's gravity. That's incredible speed, yet it's only 0.05 percent the speed of light.
    Science has progressed a lot. And now it seems like it’s possible to get something to 1 percent the speed of light. This would require a lot of energy but the question is, can we really do this?
    Remember the USS Enterprise, which is propelled by a warp drive in the sci-fi franchise Star Trek, zips back and forth across the universe. Well, scientists have got an idea following the sci-fi. Wrap drive, unfortunately for space travel lovers, appears to contradict Einstein's equations, which normally restrict faster-than-light travel. With the hypothetical addition of exotic matter, however, this science fiction creation really fits inside the boundaries of Einstein's general relativity theory, which defines gravity and the bending of space-time by matter. As a result, scientists have been calculating and discussing whether such a device could be manufactured and utilized to travel to the stars, with no conclusive results.

    Would you like to go on a trip to Mars? While that sounds interesting, the time the
    journey takes will discourage many. Using current rockets, the shortest time to get to
    the Red Planet is five months! And you will have to target a small window that comes
    once in two years! While this piece of information might not mean anything to most
    people, for Elon Musk, it means the failure or success of one of his passionate dreams;
    setting up people to live permanently on Mars! To make the travel to the planet more
    bearable, one of the options Musk is considering is Warp Drive which promises to
    reduce the trip time by a large order of magnitude! What is Warp Drive, and how fast
    can it help Musk put people on Mars? Join us as we dive into how Musk reveals the
    Warp Drive Starship!
    Musk has been pushing SpaceX to speed up the development of the Starship! He even
    asked his engineers to sacrifice their Thanksgiving weekend to fix a problem on the
    Raptor rocket engine that powers the Starship! While it is a big deal to some of the
    employees and other non-SpaceX employees, working through the weekend does not
    faze Musk, who has slept on the factory floor of his companies before!
    There is a reason Musk wants the Starship to be done as soon as possible! This is
    because, while NASA is content to wait until 2033 to send an astronaut to Mars, Musk
    wants to do so by 2026, which is just five years away! While you might dismiss the goal
    as Musk is being over optimistic as usual with his target, the billionaire CEO has a worst
    case scenario of putting humans on Mars by 2031, which is still two years earlier than
    NASA's best plan!
    Apart from this, Musk thinks there is a window of opportunity available for humans to
    become inter planetary, and this is the first time the opportunity is possible for humanity.
    He wants to use the chance quickly as he is unsure the window will be available for
    long!
    When you are planning to move one million people from the earth to Mars as Musk
    wants to do within a short time, there are several things to need to consider, which we
    will briefly look at! The first is cost. The first thing to note is that simply having money,
    tonnes of it, will not get you to Mars! As Musk said while on Lex Friedman's interview,
    even with a trillion dollars, right now, you can't fly to Mars! You need the right
    technology, like the Starship that SpaceX is building!
    Even with the right technology, space travel is expensive! In fact, anything involving
    rocket launches is costly! That is because of the nature of rockets, which are
    traditionally one-time-use vehicles. This mode of using rockets is ridiculous, as Musk
    pointed out. It is like buying a new car every time you want to go out! While it is mad
    expensive to do so, it is also complicated because you need a new car built to go out!
    Most people won't be able to afford going out if that is the only way to use cars, which
    sort of is what you get with space travel today that only the ultra rich can indulge in!
    Obviously, that won't work for Musk, who claims there is a particular cost per ton to go
    to Mars that will ensure the city established there can sustain itself. Besides, there might
    not be enough ultra rich volunteers willing to relocate to Mars, so the price has to come
    down for most people watching this video to even consider it!
    However, if there is any company that can reduce the cost of space wandering, it is
    SpaceX! The company already has a reusable rocket, the Falcon 9. But it is only
    partially reusable. The booster comes back and land, but the upper stage is written off,
    which adds at least 10 million dollars to each launch cost! This brings the launch cost to
    between 15 and 20 million dollars without accounting for overhead.
    However, with a reusable spacecraft like the Starship, Musk says you can reduce the
    cost by a factor of a hundred, meaning you could have launches of under two million
    dollars! This is the cost to orbit, and obviously, the cost to Mars will be more. But if you
    do the maths by dividing the total costs by the number of people the Starship can carry,
    which is between 70 and 100, a trip to Mars is not so expensive! In fact, Musk has
    claimed if you want to relocate to Mars, you can fund your ambition by selling your
    house!
    However, even with the lowest price, there is another factor you have to consider when
    going to Mars, time! Apart from astronomical costs, distance is another barrier to deep
    space jaunts! Like it has been mentioned in this video, you need to budget at least five
    months of your life to travel to Mars. This could stretch into a year, depending on when
    you take off. Now, what could happen if you spend five months in space?

    fuel for space travel, NASA and Musk's company, SpaceX, have revealed a
    revolutionary method of propulsion that keeps rockets going forever and ever into deep
    space! What is this propulsion, how does it work, and how does it affect you? Join us to
    explore how NASA and SpaceX have finally revealed the Near Speed Light engine!
    If you are a sci-fi fan, you would have seen space movies where the rocket keeps going
    and going! While much of the film is focused on the conflicts between the characters,
    nothing is usually said about how the rocket is powered! But of course, that is the
    creative freedom movie makers enjoy that allows them to make hit movies that entertain
    us! However, people that actually send rockets to space will tell you it is not always a
    bed of roses out there!
    One sci-fi fan is Musk, the CEO of space exploration company SpaceX. The billionaire
    has the rare privilege of living out his space dreams, unlike the rest of us. That's why
    you will see terms lifted from sci-fi in some of the real life products that he builds. One
    example is the Mechazilla that he says will grab rocket boosters mid-air! However
    audacious the scheme is, even Musk himself admitted it could fail spectacularly, the
    illustrious inventor actually derived the name from the Mechagodzilla, a character from
    the popular Godzilla film franchise!
    Musk, too, wants to cruise people through space, a goal he shares with NASA!
    However, the motivations for the two are different! Musk intends to prepare humanity to
    escape possible catastrophic galactic accidents that could wipe out humanity entirely
    from the Earth! While you might cringe at the possibility and would rather not consider it,
    Musk is a practical man and wants to preserve as much slice of humanity as possible in
    the face of such disasters!
    This is why Musk wants to set up a human outpost on other plants! The motivation is
    strong enough that Musk is building what will be the most powerful rocket in history
    when it is ready! Musk plans to transport at least one million people from Earth to planet
    Mars within a short time so that the community can become self sufficient! Far removed
    from Earth, the new colony will not be affected by any disaster people that refuse to
    leave will face!
    NASA wants to send people to Mars, too, although on a far smaller scale! The agency
    plans to send its astronauts to the Red Planet eventually. Different probes have
    explored the planet, expanding our knowledge of the planet with high-resolution pictures
    of diverse landscapes on Mars. NASA's rovers have been joined by a similar explorer
    by China and might welcome Saudi Arabia's effort too! However, nothing beats having
    boots on the ground, as NASA has done on the moon! In fact, NASA is working with
    SpaceX to resume regular missions to the moon and build bases there. Interestingly,
    NASA has admitted the missions to the moon will be a dress rehearsal for missions to
    Mars! The agency will take any lessons learned on the moon and apply them to Mars!
    The purpose is to hopefully find the purpose and origin of life, starting with trying to
    determine if there is life on Mars.
    Both NASA and SpaceX are banking on the Starship to take their humans to Mars, with
    what is essentially a trial run taking place when NASA uses the Starship to put its
    astronauts on the moon. However, the two entities have their eyes set on other planets
    and planetary bodies that are beyond Mars. NASA wants to send missions to Jupiter
    and its moons!
    However, one problem both NASA and SpaceX have to solve is distance! Anywhere
    you are going to in space is far! The universe exists on such a large scale that moving
    from one planet to another involves millions of miles. For example, the trip to Mars that
    Musk is planning can take up to six months when it takes advantage of the best launch
    window!
    Better still, the closest star to Earth is Proxima Centauri. It is about 4.25 light-years
    away, or about 25 trillion miles or 40 trillion km! The fastest ever spacecraft, the now-in-
    space Parker Solar Probe, will reach a top speed of 450,000 mph. It would take just 20
    seconds to go from Los Angeles to New York City at that speed, but it would take the
    solar probe about 6,633 years to reach Earth's nearest neighboring solar system!

  • NASA Warp Drive Starship Enterprise

    IXS Enterprise is a conceptual interstellar superluminal spacecraft designed by NASA scientist Dr. Harold G. White, revealed at SpaceVision 2008, designed for the goal of achieving warp travel. The conceptual spacecraft would make use of a modified version of the Alcubierre drive. Dr. White is currently running the White–Juday warp-field interferometer experiment in order to develop a proof of concept for Alcubierre-style warp travel, if possible. The Alcubierre drive uses exotic matter (not to be confused with antimatter) to travel faster than light.

    While the concept had been out since 2008 the design of IXS Enterprise was popularized in June 2015 after a series of media outlets reported on the conceptual artwork done by Dutch artist Mark Rademaker in collaboration with NASA.

    The energy required to power the warp drive, according to White, is approximately the negative (negative energy is required for the Alcubierre drive concept to function) mass–energy equivalence of Voyager 1, which has a mass of approximately 700 kilograms. Using E=mc2, -700 kilograms of mass is equivalent to ~-63 exajoules of energy (this number is not definitive and can be further reduced). The ship has two thick outer rings (to reduce required energy) that generate the warp field—a contraction of space ahead, and expansion of space behind it. The space inside the rings is optimized to fit more space for cargo, crew and equipment.

    A warp drive, or a drive that allows a starship to travel faster than light, is a fictitious superluminal spacecraft propulsion engine that has appeared in several science fiction works, most notably Star Trek, and is the topic of continuing physics study.
    Could Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, become a real-life Zefram Cochrane, the fictitious Star Trek inventor of warp drive? Neil deGrasse Tyson, an astronomer and scientific figure, appears to believe so.
    This Twitter squabble isn't going to affect Musk's course or get us any closer to a true warp drive. We'll have to make do with fantasies of SpaceX Starships landing on Mars. However, it may be exactly what Musk requires in the long term to make his Mars ambition a reality.

    Today we'll talk about one of my favorite topics, warp drives. I am fascinated by warp drives because they are future technology straight out of science fiction and yet they are not for any obvious reason impossible. After all, Einstein taught us that space can indeed deform and that distances can indeed shrink and that time can indeed dilate. So why not bend and deform space-time to get us faster from one place to another?

    Well, the devil is in the details. While warp drives have been studied in Einstein's theory of general relativity, they require unphysical stuff: negative energies, repulsive gravity, or things that move faster than light already. In this video, I summarize what new scientific literature has been published on this in the past year, and what progress has been made.

    Why Interstellar Travel Will Be Possible Sooner Than You Think!

    Looking up at the sky as kids, we fantasized about traveling to the stars and other galaxies. Astronomers were able to reach the moon and other celestial bodies within this solar system thanks to powerful, modern, and spectacular space technologies. We commonly witness interplanetary space travel in science fiction movies and serials, with heroes fighting a bunch of extraterrestrials, but is it really conceivable to go to distant galaxies and stars? Is there any technology that can transport us to the deep reaches of space? Is it possible that aliens, like humans, are planning interplanetary travel, and if so, how long will it take them to reach our solar system? Humans have discovered the answers to all these questions, and there are things that can help us travel much sooner than we think. Welcome to Cosmos lab, your one station for all the news from space.
    This universe is vast, like really really vast. While chemical rockets have transported us to a variety of planets, moons, and other bodies across the Solar System, humanity's farthest spacecraft, Voyager 1, is only 22.3 billion kilometers from Earth, or just 0.056 percent of the distance to the nearest known star system. Traveling to another star system would take over 100,000 years with current technology. The distance is also reassuring in that if aliens do try to invade humanity, they may not be able to cover the distance quickly.
    It took three days for Apollo to travel to the moon while the distance between Pluto and Earth was covered in 9.5 years by the New Horizons spacecraft. This indicates that it can take up to a minimum of around 10 years to travel to the last planet of the solar system and it will take thousands of years to travel to the other galaxies. According to discovery, If New Horizons was pointed at Proxima Centauri, cruising at the speed of 36,000 miles per hour, it would get to visit our nearest neighbor in about 25,000 years. But how are we going to survive that long?
    In science fiction movies, we have seen that the distance problem is somehow already solved. You may have seen in numerous movies that interstellar space travelers just sleep in a chamber and wake up after thousands of years as if it were only a day. Well, the problem is solved in the sci-fi world. What are the real-world approaches for resolving it?
    Given the insane size of the distances between stars and galaxies, University of Rochester astrophysicist Adam Frank examines the prospects of interstellar travel in connection to space exploration, whether by humans or intelligent extraterrestrials.
    Frank has given four solutions for the long distance of interstellar space travel. Cryosleep, solar sails or light sails, wormholes, and warp drives. He provides some thoughts, cautioning that they may all be pipe dreams. Of these four, Cryosleep is maybe the most intriguing one.
    Cryogenic sleep, also known as suspended animation and cryosleep, refers to a deep sleep at super-low temperatures. By keeping the body at these temperatures, the metabolism is reduced to its lowest possible level. The idea is that the low temperatures will keep vital functions intact while the rest of the body goes into a hibernation-like state.
    The body's metabolism would be frozen for the duration of the travel using cryosleep technology. Despite the fact that this is a mainstay of science fiction, no one has even come close to making it work for higher animals (like mammals). Still, it's the kind of answer that doesn't necessitate the existence of magical new physics — or even magical new biology.
    Researchers have had some luck with raising nematode worms and water bears in space conditions. But these life forms are naturally adapted to survive under conditions that would be lethal for most. Aestivation Hypothesis says advanced life forms exist indefinitely but in a digitized form. But that's not what most of us would think of as interstellar travel anyway. And if we were digital, the galaxies we sped through might as well be our own creations anyway, as opposed to physical explorations of the physical world.

  • Voyager 2 JUST FOUND Something Very Weird In Space!

    The size of the universe is immense. We've come a long way in our research, but everything we know, all the stars, planets, and galaxies visible today, make up only 4 to 5% of the universe. The universe that we are exploring is unveiling weird objects to us as we move away from the earth. With the help of voyagers, we are farther from the earth and sun than pluto and even entered the interstellar space, discovering the strange space. However, when the voyager continued on its way to the interstellar, it came upon a weird object or barrier that had never been seen anywhere else in this universe before. The scientists are curious to know what that boundary is. Is it protecting our solar system Or is it protecting some other strange world?     In November 2018, NASA's Voyager 2 accomplished a milestone of exploration by becoming only the second spacecraft ever to explore interstellar space, some six years after its twin, Voyager 1, made the same transition, billions of miles from Earth. Scientists have disclosed what Voyager 2 witnessed as it passed through the intergalactic space, providing new insight into some of our solar system's biggest mysteries.
    In late 2019 voyager 2 explored a strange boundary between the heliosphere and interstellar space. As the probe continues its voyage, scientists hope to discover more about interstellar space and the remainder of the Milky Way galaxy. Following the probe's entry into interstellar space, scientists examined data obtained throughout the probe's journey from the Sun's major sphere of influence into the emptiness between stars known as the interstellar medium.
    The heliosphere is the region of space that encompasses the solar system and is influenced by solar winds. The heliopause is the heliosphere's outer boundary, and interstellar space lies beyond it. Solar winds and the magnetic field of the sun are unable to reach interstellar space.
    As the Voyager left the solar system, scientists got the chance to learn more about the edge of the solar system and the mysterious boundary that separates it from the rest of space. According to a team lead by Edward Stone, a professor of physics at Caltech and project scientist on the Voyager programme since its start in the 1970s, Voyager 2 identified a previously unknown barrier just outside the heliopause.
    This threshold is called cosmic ray boundary layer by the researchers because it indicates where the probe encountered a shift in the gradient of cosmic rays from beyond our Sun and lower-energy particles typical of our Sun's familiar environment.

    The heliopause is a region that resembles a big bubble and is located around 11 billion miles from the sun. It is the heliosphere and interstellar space's dividing line. The heliopause, on the other hand, isn't a thick, impenetrable barrier. It's more of a porous boundary that permits some particles to get through. Because the boundary allows particles to enter and exit the region, a mix of heliosphere and interstellar space particles is created. Voyager 1 data revealed interstellar particles entering the solar system, whereas Voyager 2 data revealed solar particles leaving. Although Voyager 1 and 2 have expanded knowledge about the heliopause, many questions remain, such as the shape of the region.
    According to the researchers, “There appear to be cosmic ray boundary layers on both sides of the heliopause, with the outer one only being evident at the position of Voyager 2. This cosmic ray boundary layer on the outside of the heliopause was not evident at the place and time where Voyager 1 crossed it.”
    According to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, when Voyagers 1 and 2 left the solar system, there was a rapid dropoff in solar particles and a significant rise in galactic radiation. It's unclear why the probes ended up on opposite sides of the heliopause, passing through these layers. It could be related to the Voyagers' divergent paths, with Voyager 1 exiting the heliopause in the northern hemisphere and Voyager 2 escaping from the southern hemisphere.

    Dr. White has over 25+ years of experience working in the aerospace industry with Boeing, Lockheed Martin, as well as at NASA, and in his current role at the Limitless Space Institute he leads all R&D work and establishes priorities for investigations and expenditures.

    Dr. White obtains grants and other resources in support of R&D efforts; markets LSI to major benefactors to increase resources and related R&D efforts; and arranges/schedules/conducts events ensuring appropriately related well-known individuals are involved.

    Dr. White holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Rice University, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Wichita State University, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of South Alabama.

    Dr. White has been recognized many times over the span of his career for his excellent work ethic, exceptional technical skills, abilities as a project manager, and dedication to the pursuit of human space flight. He was awarded the NASA Medal for Excellence in Achievement by the Administrator for his role in getting the Thermal Protection System robotic inspection tools built, delivered and certified to support the STS-114 Space Shuttle mission. He was awarded the Silver Snoopy Award by the crew office for his actions in the discovery and disposition of critical damage to the robotic arm prior to the STS-121 mission. He received the NASA Spaceflight Awareness Honoree award for the STS-122 mission, one of the highest, most prestigious awards available to employees of NASA. He was awarded the NASA Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal for his role in exploring and incorporating advanced power and propulsion concepts into human spaceflight architectures.

In Star Trek the crew of the USS Enterprise zips between the stars in mere days, traveling a distance that takes light itself months or even years to cover. To do it they use a fantastic sci-fi technology called warp drive. The antimatter-powered warp drive bends spacetime for the Enterprise, making the distance between stars much, much shorter for the ship. Without it Kirk and the crew would grow old and die before they reached the outer edges of our galaxy—where a lot of the show takes place. And here on earth hundreds of years would pass. It would be a pretty depressing show.
