  • Why Conspiracy Theories are Illogical | Moon Landing, Flat Earth, Global Warming

This video answers the question: Why are conspiracy theories illogical from a personality perspective? There are a wide variety of conspiracy theories including: vaccinations, global warming, chemtrails, flat earth, no moon landing, area 51, cure for cancer being suppressed, and elite lizards (shape-shifting aliens) who seek world domination. Some conspiracy theories turned out to be supported by evidence like the CIA testing LSD on Americans and the government monitoring communications around the world. Many people believe in one or two conspiracy theories, but many conspiracy theorists believe in dozens. All conspiracy theories share one thing in common: large numbers of organized, evil people conspiring to cause harm. People may believe in conspiracy theories for many reasons, some of which have no relationship to personality and mental health. Others may tend to find meaning from randomness and believe it affects them personally (ideas of reference). We also see a tendency to hold odd beliefs and to have magical thinking. At a subclinical level, these traits align with schizotypy. Many conspiracy theorists feel uncertain, insecure, anxious, powerless, and isolated.
Why would conspiracies fail? People aren't good at conspiring, especially in the long run when the stakes are high. Some traits associated with deliberately or inadvertently revealing the truth are high altruism, low conscientiousness (not being careful), high neuroticism (impulsivity), high extraversion (talkative), narcissism (fantasy, jealously, lack of empathy, admiration), high adventurousness, and substance use.

    For more topics go to
Why are conspiracy theories appealing to so many people? Are some people more likely to believe conspiracy theories than others? Do conspiracy theories make people feel better? What are the psychological and social consequences of conspiracy theories? Is it possible to reduce belief in conspiracy theories?
Millions of people disbelieve official explanations for significant political and social events in favour of alternative accounts that are often called ‘conspiracy theories’. For example, well known conspiracy theories contend that the 9/11 attacks were an 'inside job', that climate change is a hoax, and that Princess Diana was murdered by the British government.
Conspiracy theories like these are very popular - about half of the population believes at least one - and in recent years psychologists have begun to investigate what makes these conspiracy theories appealing to so many people.
Karen Douglas, Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Kent, will talk about what research has discovered so far, and will outline her own programme of research on the psychology of conspiracy theories.
Does the fact that you believe that the moon landing was staged and that the Earth is flat make you feel unique and stand out in our social group? Food for thought and an event to attend.

Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took the first steps on the moon, or did they? We explain one of the most talked about conspiracy theories of all time. #Apollo11 #MoonLanding #ConspiracyTheory

Stunning photos from the Apollo 11 mission are still coming out almost 50 years after a person first walked on the moon.

Michael Collins, who was the Command Module pilot during the historic flight, shared what he says is a previously unreleased photo of the three astronauts in the crew.

The crew. Found this at the bottom of a box. Don’t think it was ever used by @NASA. #TBT @TheRealBuzz, Collins tweeted Thursday with the Throwback Thursday hashtag.

The photo shows Collins standing against a moon replica. Astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong are photographed on the other side of the moon, with Armstrong's hand on Aldrin's shoulder.

Buzz Aldrin was the second man to set foot on the Moon. In February 2016 Aldrin came to the Science Museum in London to tell the story of the historic mission in his own words.

On 16 July 1969, Apollo 11 launched from Cape Kennedy on its way to becoming the first manned spacecraft to land on the moon. Aboard were Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin - the three brave men who made the historic journey. On 20 July, Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the Moon and Aldrin joined him on the lunar surface soon after. The Moon walk lasted nearly two-and-a-half hours while the pair collected lunar samples and conducted experiments.

  • Restored Apollo 11 Moonwalk - Original NASA EVA Mission Video - Walking on the Moon

Original Mission Video as aired in July 1969 depicting the Apollo 11 astronauts conducting several tasks during extravehicular activity (EVA) operations on the surface of the moon. The EVA lasted approximately 2.5 hours with all scientific activities being completed satisfactorily. The Apollo 11 (EVA) began at 10:39:33 p.m. EDT on July 20, 1969 when Astronaut Neil Armstrong emerged from the spacecraft first. While descending, he released the Modularized Equipment Stowage Assembly on the Lunar Module's descent stage. A camera on this module provided live television coverage of man's first step on the Moon. On this, their one and only EVA, the astronauts had a great deal to do in a short time. During this first visit to the Moon, the astronauts remained within about 100 meters of the lunar module, collected about 47 pounds of samples, and deployed four experiments. After spending approximately 2 hours and 31 minutes on the surface, the astronauts ended the EVA at 1:11:13 a.m. EDT on July 21.

    Quick Message From RCVR!
Thanks for watching my video, really I mean it! I hope it had enough silliness to make you laugh, but not too much that I annoyed the crap out of you. Last thing I wanna do is scream in your ear and piss you off... you're my friend and I want you to come back and see more of my vidz)) I plan on releasing all types of different videos in a variety of formats, almost always related to technology or gaming, but sometimes it will be about real life and interesting topics that I want to take on. As I said before I really appreciate your view, feel free to message me or comment if you would like any help with product or development promotion. I love helping others and connecting with interesting people in the community! Also, if you think that I could help you with some graphic design or video editing let me know, I do it everyday!
