    People from all over the world have been describing the drastic impact of the corona pandemic: The empty streets outside their homes, their fears and daily routines, the news, the regulations, the newly discovered sense of community as well as the small moments of hope.

    Google offers endless results if you enter a search for corona + diary. What else is there to do when everything is closed and normal life has ground to a halt: When the shops are shuttered, the office doors locked and whole regions have been placed under quarantine? What do you do to fend off the boredom and the uncertainty? But wait a minute, there is always your mobile phone. People everywhere have been using them to document this most unusual of times, recording their thoughts both for themselves and for others.

    In the form of video diaries the protagonists record their personal stories in these times of global pandemic providing personal and authentic insights on a truly global event; and one which has yet to play out, nobody knows today what tomorrow will bring.

    Born from a feeling of isolation and a fierce desire to find purpose in the face of helplessness, #ChooseHopeStory is the collective effort of over 250 filmmakers across the globe to share stories of compassion and unity amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic.

    A global team of filmmakers came together over the course of just ten days to develop the creative, bring together footage, and edit the four-minute video while filming up until the last day on several continents around the world.

    BECOMING CONTAGIOUS PEACEMAKERS IN UNCERTAIN TIMES 1. LET OUR THOUGHTS BE IN FAITH AND NOT IN FEAR

    Being Contagious Peacemakers

    The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4–5 (NIV)

    Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:6–8 (NIV)

    2. LET OUR CONVERSATIONS BE FULL OF LIFE AND NOT DEATH

    You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; ... and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body…. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen Ephesians 4:22, 24–25, 29 (NIV)

    3. LET OUR HOPE BE IN GOD NOT IN OUR OWN STRENGTH
    May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NIV)

    For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.     This a daily life diary from all of our team members individual home. Hope everyone is safe. Stay Home Stay Safe.

    In the last 8 years,
    my life became nothing but a fast-paced routine.
    Everything was like clockwork
    and day by day I became more and more powerless in changing the way things were.
    Sometime I did not even notice when the days became night
    and the night ended to begin another day along with its routine.
    One day suddenly I came to know
    that we have been struck by a pandemic,
    something we read about in history books
    and the entire nation started to lockdown.
    With the business and offices shut down,
    people were urged to stay home
    and all of a sudden my life changed in a jiffy.
    Now I am home 24/7,
    which was kind of weird
    since I have never done so in a very long time.
    I start noticing little things in and around my home.
    The trees in my compound have grown so much from the last time I noticed them,
    the birds were singing,
    the sun was shining
    and it felt really good to be home continuously after such a long time.
    without any domestic help I also up skilled myself this time,
    doing my own cooking,
    cleaning and arranging everything around the house
    and in no time 2 months were gone.
    What started out to be kind of a vacation soon turned into a prison sentence.
    Slowly I started to notice the empty roads,
    the closed shops
    and the unfamiliar silence all around.
    But still
    everyday I lit lamps around the house to bring a little light in this darkness
    and to never lose hope.
    But still I held onto a shred of hope
    that everything is gonna be fine again.
    We always bounce back
    don't we?
    Now that the lock down is about to be lifted,
    we are looking into an uncertain future
    not knowing if life would ever be as it was,
    as we have to live with another contagious disease around us
    and learn to save ourselves and others from it.
    so I have decided to take one day at a time
    and trying to adjust to the changing world again with the hopes of doing something for myself
    and what makes me happy.
    As I now know for sure that nothing lasts forever. Change Alone is Permanent.

    Into the Light: Spoken Word Contest Mechanics
    THEME: Hope in the time of Pandemic, Living a #NewNorm
    WINNERS WILL WIN: 1st Place Php 1,000, 2nd Place Php 700, and 3rd Place Php 500
    Form:

    1. The contest is open to all Spoken Word Artists, 15-35 years old
    2. The piece must be an original composition. It could be written in English,
    Filipino or Taglish.
    3. A word file of the piece together with your video performing the spoken
    word piece must be submitted through an online form
    4. The video must be a maximum of 5 minutes.
    The piece must be related with the theme “Hope in the time of Pandemic,
    Living a #NewNorm”
    5. Attire appropriate for the spoken piece shall be worn during the contest.
    Sounds, instrumental or musical background are allowed to compliment
    the delivery, however, these should be free from copyright.
    6. Deadline of submission is on June 30, 2020
    7. Shortlisted entries will be uploaded in the Life Thoughts and Inspirations
    Youtube Channel on first submission, first post basis.
    8. Entries will be judged from June 20-30 2020.
    9. The announcement of winners will be on July 12, 2020.
    10. Prizes at stake. The first, second, and third places shall receive a
    certificate of recognition and cash prizes. The most popular entry with
    the most number of shares, valid comments and likes will receive a
    special award. Certificates of participation shall be given to all
    contestants. All the winners will be featured in Life Thoughts TV
    Channel through an interview.
    10. The contestants will be judged using the following criteria:
    a. Content- 30%
    The content of the spoken piece is relevant and related to the theme
    The piece shall have a powerful and meaningful message to the audience.
    b. Delivery and Performance- 20%
    The spoken piece was delivered from the heart.
    Facial expressions, hand and body gestures emphasized the different elements of the performance.
    Voice is modulated, compelling and phrasing is fluent.
    Spoke loudly and clearly enough for listeners to hear and understand.
    Voice project confidence and conviction
    c. Originality- 30%
    Must be originally composed or written by the participants.
    The piece was effectively recited from memory
    Freestyle or improvising was spontaneous even if a word or line was forgotten.
    d. Audience- 20%
    The video entry must have a very strong engagement with likes and comments.
    Total: 100%

    * For the prestige of the contest, there should be at least 5 entries to judge and award the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners. In the event that there are only 4 below entries, only the most popular entry will have a special prize.
