    Description:
Since the invention of the modern automobile, we have been in love with our cars, trucks and motorcycles. It’s hard to think how we could function on a daily basis without a personal car around to take us to the grocery store, movie theatre or over to a friend’s house. This mode of transportation is such an important part of most peoples’ lives that we have no idea how we’d cope if cars suddenly disappeared tomorrow. Sure, most cars pollute and after a decade or so we get rid of the old and bring in a new car – filling up wrecking yards and burnings tons of gasoline in the process. The automobile is so important that rather than develop a whole new mode of transportation we instead focus our energy on creating more efficient gasoline burning engines and new models of electric cars. Nonetheless, the car is an integral part of our lives and our culture.
Of course, many people have often heard the saying (but never really payed any attention to it) that driving is one of the most dangerous things we do in our daily lives. Indeed, getting behind the wheel of your ride and heading off to work or some other destination can be very dangerous. Statistically, the number crunchers say that you are far more likely to die driving your car than flying in a plane. The numbers seem to back this up by showing that over 90 people are killed every day in motor vehicle accidents in the US alone. It all makes sense once you think about it. If you think about all the people out on the road and add in distracted and drunk drivers, mechanical failures and bad weather then it’s easy to see why driving can be so dangerous.
But what about the actual sections of roads and highways that seemingly have a high number of accidents and fatalities all year round. That is, it can be bad enough driving on ‘regular’ roads and highways around the world but there are roads which, for whatever reason, just seem more dangerous than the rest. You are probably picturing the classic mountain side road, carved into the rock with minimal safety barriers and exposed to landslides and all the inclement weather you can think of. Yes, those roads are very dangerous, but they aren’t the only ones to avoid driving on.
As part two of our ‘dangerous roads’ series, we look at 10 roads you probably wouldn’t want to drive on. These motorways are found all across the world, in all sorts of environments and at all sorts of altitudes. There are the expected mountain roads – narrow and crumbling where one small mistake means you are going for a very long fall. There are also the remote and isolated highways running through deserts and the vastness of Siberia. There are even the sea level roads which provide their own nasty little surprise that can ruin your day (or life). We guarantee that after seeing this your daily commute will appear to be a walk in the park.

Some people love riding a roller coaster. The feeling of “having their heart in their mouth” makes them thrilled and high on adrenaline. But have you heard of the ways which go through the clouds?
Today, let’s visit the most incredible and dangerous roads in the world. They overshadow even the coolest rides and leave people driving on them breathless and terrified.

    TIMESTAMPS
    Guoliang Tunnel, China 0:36
    Maeklong Railway Market, Thailand 1:22
    Yungas Road, Bolivia 1:58
    Eyre Highway, Australia 2:47
The “Nose of the Devil” Railway, Ecuador 3:23
    Pamban Railway Bridge, India 3:57
Karakoram Highway, Pakistan - China 4:35
    Passage de Gois, France 5:12
    Leh-Manali Highway, India 5:51
    Tianmen Mountain Road, China 6:24
Road through Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia 6:53
Road through Skippers Canyon, New Zealand 7:34
The James W. Dalton Highway, Alaska, USA 8:22
“Train to the Clouds”, Argentina 9:21

    SUMMARY
    - The Guoliang Tunnel is an amazing 0,7 mi (1.2 km) long mountain road in China. The story of its creation is unbelievable! Before its construction there had been a very dangerous path with narrow steep stairs which didn’t have any handrails.
    - The sellers take their goods away and fold their tents in seconds, giving way to the train which moves at a speed of about 9 mi/h (15 km/h). This is the reason the market is sometimes called Talat Rom Hoop which means “Market Umbrella Close”.
    - Yungas Road (also called Death Road) connects Bolivian cities of La Paz and Coroico. It descends from the height of 2 miles to 1,181 ft (3,300 to 360 m) above sea level. Despite the fact that the road is very narrow, even trucks manage to pass each other.
    - If you look at this highway, you will surely ask, “So what is so dangerous on this straight road?” Right, this is the longest straight road in the world with the length of about 994 miles (1,600 km)!
    - The “Nose of the Devil” railway is built on the rock which has the same name. It was called this way because people believed that Devil didn’t want a railway to pass through that place - that’s why so many deaths occurred among the people who built the road.
    - Pamban is India’s first sea bridge built in 1914. It connects the mainland part of India with the island which has the same name. In 1964 there was a storm which hit the island. It overturned a passenger train and all 150 people who were inside died.
    - At 807,7 miles (1,300 km) long, Karakoram is considered the world’s most high-altitude international highway. One of its sections passes at the altitude of more than 15,091 ft (4,600 m).
    - This is the road between the island of Noirmoutier and mainland France. This passage seems quite common, doesn’t it? It is, until you get to know that to drive along it, you will need to know the schedule of the tides! In fact, the road is approachable only twice a day - before and right after the low tide.
    - Leh-Manali Highway runs through several high mountain passes. It is located at the altitude of 13,034 to 16,404 ft (4 to 5 km). This road is extremely narrow, covered with dirt and gravel, but this doesn’t prevent local drivers from zooming through at high speeds.
    - This road leads to the top of Tianmen Mountain where a Buddhist temple is situated. It is only 6.8 miles (11 km) long but it can boast 99 bends with the distance between some of the curves less than 656 ft (200 m)!
    - The highway which runs through the dried Solar de Uyuni is located at the altitude of 11,811 ft (3,650 m) above sea level. Local landscapes are so unusual that they can be taken for some extraterrestrial grounds!
    - This road was built in 1880s and it is a true wonder of engineering. The construction took only 5 years and it has remained mostly unchanged since then! This amazing passage has numerous holes, cliffs, steep descents and sharp bends.
    - Only 108,7 miles (175 km) of this 413,8 miles (666 km) highway are covered with bitumen, the rest of the way you have to drive on gravel. Tough weather conditions, winds, unexpected changes from 2 to 4 lanes and back, poor visibility have made this road particularly deadly.
    - If you decide to make a 15-hour train journey, be ready to pass through 21 tunnels, 42 bridges and viaducts, 2 spirals and 2 more zigzags on the 134,8 mi (217 km) road! This railway is one of the highest in the world, its top point (at the end of the line) is situated at the altitude of 13,780 ft (4,200 km).

10 Roads You Would Never Want to Drive
A wise man once said that the best road to take is the road less travelled. Well, all 10 roads in today’s video are seldom travelled, but I don’t think that’s a good reason for you to pack up your bags and go on a road trip to any of them. After all, driving these roads might come at the cost of your life.
From a dangerous road with a rather confusing name, to a road with such a deadly reputation it’s been called the death road, here are 10 roads you would never want to drive on.

    Number 10. Austrian Road, Kazakhstan
No this isn’t a road that links Kazakhstan to Austria. Rather, this 37-mile road is named after the Austro-Hungarian POWs who constructed it between 1915 and 1917. This unpaved track takes drivers from the 990-metre-high Bukhtarma Valley up to the 2,137-meter-high Burkhatskiy Pass in Eastern Kazakhstan.
The scenery surrounding this road is simply breathtaking, offering incredible views of the Kara-Koba River. However, knowing the fact that this unpaved road built by prisoners using nothing but picks, axes, and a lot of elbow grease does take away a lot from the experience, those plus the fact that the road could collapse at any time. Not good especially if on one side of the road is a sheer cliff. You also get to traverse across a few dilapidated bridges along the way which, by the way, regularly fall into disrepair, which often makes this route impossible to cross.
Want to try your luck and feel the thrill that this road would give you? Make sure to check the weather forecast first. If you get caught in a rainstorm here, you might fall victim to one of the many landslides that have been known to happen without warning.

Number 9. Skippers Canyon Road, New Zealand
The Skipper’s Canyon Road in New Zealand was built to replace an old road due to unsafe conditions. But try traversing this 16.5 mile stretch of mostly unpaved path and you’ll definitely see that it isn’t much of a safety upgrade.
It was built to replace an old miner’s road that led to and from Skipper’s Canyon when it became a popular gold mining area. And while the new road still takes hundreds of lives each year, it is relatively safer that what the miners had to make do before.
It took seven years to carve this gorgeous and frightening road out of the cliff face. It was completed in 1890, and many sections of the road remain the same today as they were then; narrow and unpaved, lacking guardrails to prevent you from tumbling down steep cliffs, you know, the usual. Today, the road is frequented mostly by tour busses and adventure companies.

Number 8. Taroko Gorge Road, Taiwan
In the aboriginal Truku tribe’s language, Taroko means “magnificent and splendid”. A very apt name especially if you take in the scenery when driving along this road and you’ll probably tell your friends back home all about it once you get back. That is if you get back.
This gorge road is made up of a series of tunnels carved into a mountain along the ‘Taiwanese Grand Canyon’, connecting the east and west coast of the country through sharp turns, narrow paths and blind curves.
The place is notoriously accident prone, so you have to keep your wits about you when driving on it. One such accident occurred in 2012, when a driver and 13 tourists narrowly escaped with their lives when their bus failed to climb an incline in the road. Their vehicle rolled backwards hitting one of the few barriers and fell down a slope, injuring most of the passengers.
Taroko gorge road is also prone to earthquakes and typhoons that lead to rock falls which may also complicate your journey along this truly treacherous route.

Not all road trips consist of endless, repetitive highway.

While some welcome the relaxation of the consistent, unchanging open road, others prefer their road trips with a side of thrills.

We've scoured the web to find the most frightening, dangerous, and deadly roads you can drive.

From the UK's Widow Maker to Iraq's Highway of Death, these are the most dangerous roads in the world.

    **************--------------------------------------------------------------**************
    Nepal
Nepal is a landlocked country in the Indian subcontinent. Covering an area of 56,827 square miles, Nepal is the world's ninety-third largest country by landmass. It has a population of approximately 29,331,000.
Nepal is divided into fourteen zones and seventy-five districts. A permanent chief district officer is appointed for each district, who is responsible for maintaining law and order and also coordinates the work of various agencies and government ministries.
video driving down a scenic road in some exotic, far-flung locale when around the bend the railing disappears, the road narrows to practically a trail, and thousands of feet below -- if you squint -- you can see the skeletal remains of cars long lost. Yes, sometimes the road less taken is less taken for a reason. And in the case of these 12, it's because they may very well kill you.
We’d rather hitchhike the Highway to Hell than take our chances on Old Yungas Rd (aka: “The Death Road”), considered the most dangerous in the world. The 40-mile stretch linking La Paz to Coroico hugs cliffs that overlook a sprawling canyon and features so many sharp turns that you’d think drivers would putter along at 10mph rather than take a chance. They don’t. More than 200 people a year fall to their death in trucks, cars, and public buses.
Just like Old Yungas Road, the 155-mile Karnali Hwy in the Himalayas of West Nepal is a death wish (approximately 50 people die there a year). The dirt road’s surface is so bad that even cyclists who flock there for the stunning views are often like, “maybe not today.” And as you can imagine, vehicles that attempt to drive the road tend to slide on patches of dirt, choke on steep climbs, and generally get f*cked up from one too many potholes.

Long before ergonomic city planning, motorized driving machines, or even the simple eleganceof the wheel, the first roads appeared on the landscape. Our first roads were formed by humanswalking the same paths over and over to get water and find food; groups of people combinedinto villages, towns and cities, networks of walking paths became more formal roads. Theearliest stone paved roads have been traced to about 4,000 B.C. However, we hope the roadsdidn’t look like this!!!! Ice roads, ghost roads, steep roads, you name it... 20 Most Dangerous Roads In The World

With more than 1 billion cars registered worldwide its a miracle that we don’t have more accidents than we do, but as it turns out, not all roads are created equally and today we are going too look at 20 of the most dangerous roads in the world.

    20. A44
This route was originally opened in 1923 as a connection between Chipping Norton and Aberystwyth in the united kingdom, since its construction, the route has undergone several expansions and re-routings over the years, and today it has the distinction of being one of the nations most dangerous roads. Because it covers so much land, sections of the road feature chaotic twists and turns (wrong) that present deadly challenges to unprepared drivers.

    19. A683
Our nineteenth entry is the A685, this is another road through the U.K that presents drivers with some unique challenges, it begins in the town of Kendal and runs northeast to the village of Tebay. While the road seems fairly unthreatening at first glance, statistics say otherwise and it routinely claims the lives of more motorist every year than many of the U.K’s more obviously treacherous roads, in fact, the Road Safety Foundation rated it as one of England's 50 roads with the highest risk of fatal and serious collisions.

    18. Route 5
Known locally as Ruta 5, this Chilean highway runs between Arica and Iquique. Covering 3,364 kilometers, it is chile’s longest road and a part of the Pan-American Highway system. Route 5 is an incredibly picturesque journey that often leads drivers to become hypnotized by the road, add to this the winding roads and deep valleys that make up much of its distance and its no surprise that the otherwise baron landscape is peppered with carcasses of burnt-out vehicles, adding to the peril are frequent bouts of dense fog.

    17. Sichuan-Tibet Highway
So far our previous entries have been asphalt roadways that most of us would recognize as major routes but this next road is terrifying just to look at let alone drive on. The journey is so risky that those trying to make it chance getting caught in landslides and even if you do make it to your destination you will likely suffer horrendous altitude sickness the particularly treacherous stretch is part of china’s 318 national trunk highway. Those brave enough to take the route are blessed with breathtaking views encapsulating slices of ancient china and stunning mountain views and forests. So just how bad is it? On average 7,500 per 100,000 who use it will perish without reaching their destination.

    16. Patiopoulo-Perdikaki Road
Perdikaki is a tiny village with a population of just 356, it sits at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level and the road leading to it is one of the most dangerous roads in the world. Located in western Greece the road climbs over 1,160 feet despite being poorly maintained a chalked full of potholes, the road is also dangerously narrow with deadly corners with no markings on the shoulder and no guard rails to help keep drivers from plummeting haplessly over the edge.

    15. A726
Known as one of Scotland’s deadliest roads there isn’t any one factor that makes it especially deadly, however for some reason the 7km stretch of road claims over 40 lives every year, and while many are the result of head-on collisions a shocking number involve pedestrians and cyclists, experts point to twisty roads and very frequent merges as part of the reason for the road’s dark reputation.

    14. Route 431 Highway to Hell
Literally nicknamed the Highway to Hell, Route 431 in Alabama is among the United State’s deadliest highways. One of the worst stretches lies between Seale and the Barbour County line, this section of roadway is rife with rolling hills that impede drivers visibility of oncoming traffic, ordinarily, this might not be an issue except for the fact that for many years this stretch of highway has been a single lane and drivers attempting to pass other motorists would find themselves in head-on collisions with unseen vehicles at the tops of hills. In this small stretch, 31 people lost their lives between 1992 and 2006 leading Reader’s Digest to proclaim it one of America’s Deadliest Highways” in 2000.

Since the time of the Romans, people have built millions of miles of roads; some of them boring and
uneventful, some of them quite extraordinary. Today we will be looking at 10 of the most unbelievable
roads in the world. Wait till you see what’s on number one, it’s one road that I’m sure you should
traverse at least once in your life.

Number 10. The High Five Interchange
This five-level marvel of engineering can be found on the outskirts of Dallas, where Interstate 635
connects with U.S. 75. Construction crews, despite the project's enormous scope, were able to complete
the labyrinth of lanes in December 2005, a full year ahead of schedule.
This highway was built because of a very specific problem; there are just too many cars on the road.
Unfortunately, building wider roads is not always the solution. The solution for Dallas? Go vertical.
Certain points of the High Five are as tall as a 12-story building, and about 500,000 commuters pass
through it daily. The project required 37 permanent bridges and six temporary bridges to be built.
Additionally, 300,000 square feet of retaining wall and 74,000 square feet of drainage pipe run along the
interchange. In 2006, the American Public Works Association selected the interchange as one of its
"Public Works Projects of the Year."

    Number 9. Trollstigen
As one of the most famous National Tourist Routes, Trollstigen is a visual feast. If you see it from the
right height and angle, you can feel the view hit you in your stomach. On this road, even the bravest can
feel the adrenaline pump through their veins.
This mountain pass in southwest Norway opened in 1936 after eight years of construction. Trollstigen
aptly translates from Norwegian to English as "Troll Ladder."
Eleven hairpin turns take drivers 2800 feet above sea level with an average grade of 9 percent. This
scenic road is accented by the Stigfossen waterfall, which runs down the side of the mountain and is
crossed by a small bridge on the way toward the road's apex. Sections of the pass were cut directly into
the face of the mountain during the 1930s. The pass tends to open in late May and sometimes closes
through June because of the region's harsh winters.
What makes this road more special is the Trollstigen platform. This, along with two other viewpoints,
are located at the top of the mountain, where visitors can see all the way down the mountainside. The
largest viewing platform juts out over a ledge to hover 200 metres above the Trollstigen road that
snakes up the steep mountainside. The platform has various viewing points suitable for both the bold
    and the cautious visitor.

    Number 8. Capulin Volcano Road

This twisting road climbs Capulin Volcano, a defunct cinder cone in northeast New Mexico that erupted
about 60,000 years ago and has a circumference of about 4 miles at its base. The first road ascending
this volcano was completed in 1925.
It’s a 2-mile paved road spiraling to the volcano rim, located in the High Plains of northeastern New
Mexico, USA. The road climbs up to 1,200 feet above the sea level and it’s one of the most accessible
    volcanoes in the world.
The surface of the road is asphalt, and trailers and towed vehicles are prohibited. Bicycles and
pedestrians are only permitted when the road is closed to vehicles after park hours. Due its climb in
elevation over thousands of feet, and pass through remote areas, it is important when driving in these
conditions to be prepared. Always check weather forecasts before leaving home, and remember that it
becomes cooler and often more prone to storms at higher elevations. So always be prepared with
jackets, water, and emergency kit in your car.

    Number 7. Svalvogar Road, Iceland
Also known as Route 622, the 13 mile Svalvogar Road offers its travelers stunning views of Northwestern Icelandic coastline. The road acts as the link between the territories of Thingeyri to Lokinhamrar and was precariously carved under towering cliffs. Traversing a road such as this is scary enough, but add to that the fact that the entire route cuts through regions that are region prone to avalanches, heavy snowfall, strong winds and landslides, then you have one terrifying drive ahead of you. Travelers going along this road can also expect unpaved roads, steep drops, and the loose surface of a narrow, rocky track.
Sure, an all-wheel drive vehicle with high ground clearance will help you with some of the challenges along the way, but be careful not to take a trip on this road too

Roads are the connective tissue of our world. They link people together from different areas all over. Like veins carrying blood throughout the body, roads carry people to their destinations. Also like people, roads come in all shapes and sizes. Some are so dangerous they’ll leave your stomach in your throat, and some will make you wish you never have to pass through them. If you’re looking for thrills and adventure, look no further. From narrow mountain passes to haunted country roads, you’ll be in for a terrifying threat. So buckle up, and come take a ride with me down the most dangerous roads on Earth.

    Road in Pingjiang County
Have you ever wanted to walk on a road suspended on the side of a cliff? Perhaps you want to soak up the sights from above. Well, you may just have your chance, if you visit China’s Pingjiang County. Suspended high up the cliff’s sides, this road was created for the very purpose of allowing tourists to see the cliff’s stunning views. Supported only by wood beams and cement.

    North Yungas Road
When you picture a dangerous road, the first thought that comes to mind is probably not a dirt road. Dirt roads seem pretty mundane in comparison. However, this one might just have you shaking in your boots. From the steep drop-offs to a narrow path just big enough for a single car to fit, the North Yungas Road in Bolivia can be a literal nightmare.

    Skippers Canyon Road, New Zealand
    Morrow Road, USA
    Curvas de Huanchaca, Peru
    Karakoram Highway
Connecting Pakistan and China, the Karakoram Highway is incredibly dangerous for its slippery and uneven path. To make matters worse, the road is prone to landslides, and monsoons typically cause severe damage to the road.

    Le Passage du Gois, France
    Eshima Ohashi Bridge, Japan

    US Route 431
US Route 431 runs through the southeastern United States, between Alabama and Kentucky. It looks like any other normal road, but this road was ominously named “Highway to Hell”

    The Guoliang Tunnel in China
Tunnels can already be a terrifying experience for those of us with claustrophobia. They can make us feel closed in and anxious. The Guoliang Tunnel in China is even scarier than your typical tunnel though. Part of the road is a literal tunnel hand carved through the side of the Taihang Mountain cliffs.

    R504 Kolyma Highway, Russia
You may have had the experience of driving through a place that seemed touched by the afterlife— a dreary place that doesn’t seem of this world. When you drive past, you can’t help but get goosebumps. Kolyma Highway in Russia is such a place. Built on the backs of prisoners, the road had a gloomy beginning. Nicknamed “Road of Bones”

    Deception Pass Bridge
Google Maps is great for getting you to that party on Friday night or to that new restaurant you wanted to try in the city. Sometimes though Google maps isn’t reliable. Take, for instance, the images from Google Earth that are so incredibly distorted they might just terrify you with a single glance. Deception Pass Bridge in Washington state is your typical bridge, at least until Google got a hold of it. Google Earth has a very different rendition...

    Forcella Lavardet, Italy
As people, we tend to seek out breathtaking views around the world. For some, that means hiking to the top of a mountain and for others that could mean diving to the ocean’s depths. One way to get a peek at Italy’s scenic views is by driving through Forcella Lavardet. The drive does not come without its risks though. Forcella Lavardet can be a ferocious road to tackle with its numerous consecutive sharp turns that will have you holding your breath in anticipation. And since it is a mountain pass, the road is steep in elevation with narrow lanes. The gravel road is best to take slowly, especially around the bends. Driving too quickly on this road could prove to be fatal.

From some of the most intense racetracks, to windy dirt roads with steep elevations, here are dangerous roads you would never want to drive on.

    5. Magnetic Hill India
Also known as cyclops hill this strange mountain is known for its magnetic properties and some believe that cars look like their defying gravity while going down hill. Some feel as though the magnetism here is so strong, that the force can actually move cars on its own. The strange phenomenon has been captured on tape in various experiments and airplanes that fly over it will fly at a higher altitude. It hard to say how much of it is legend and how much is real. Some blogs explain how different parts of the hill have more magnetism than other parts but it’s not the entire hill.

    4. Sani Pass
Lesotho is a landlocked country, completely surrounded by South Africa and has somehow remained independent. Its Geographical location separates it from South Africa and makes it the only nation that lies completely over a kilometer above sea level. In any case, in order to get to this country, one must take a street called sani pass in order to reach the necessary elevation. Some have wanted lesetho to be annexed by south africa which would help give it access to other parts of the world. Reaching the top, if you have clear conditions, consider yourself extremely lucky. Possibly one of the steepest and most crooked roads in the world, the weather is usually terrible. It could be closed due to snow in some cases and you might also noticed it’s mainly unpaved, mainly to preserve the nature in the area. It’s uncommon to see cars that are completely wrecked at the bottom of the cliffs and it’s a reminder that it’s a road you don’t wanna drive on.

    3. Vance Creek Bridge
Hidden behind countless evergreen trees is an abandoned bridge that measures 347 feet above the ground and you would certainly never want to drive on it. . This was at one point the tallest 2nd trestle bridge in the US. It was used as an important route to transport lumber from Washington’s lush forests. Eventually, when the government decided to protect the land nearby and not cut down the trees, the bridge was no longer needed. Legends have told tales of not only the bridge being haunted but also the creek down below. At night, there’s been sightings of a woman, floating from the bottom to the top. At one point it was a hotspot for instagrammers looking to get a cool shot in order to get some likes. Are like really worth your life? They have tried to implement no trespassing signs in order to deter vandalism and loitering.

    2. Dayton International Speedway
It doesn’t get the name speed way for nothing folks. This is the most dangerous street in Nascar and it’s been a location that’s broken many hearts. Dale Earnhardt on his final lap lost control of his vehicle striking the outside barrier head on. He was transported to a hospital but didn’t make it. This is always a possibility each time these guys suit up and race and most are willing to take that risk especially for the prize at daytona. Nearly 30 people have paid the ultimate price for being the top nascar driver. The fastest speed at dayton was a recorded 210 miles an hour giving you an idea how much force these 3,350 pound vehicles can put out. Interesting specifications are made to the cars now with head to neck restraints but they can only do so much to keep the drivers 100 percent safe. With some events holding over 100,000 people for nascar, these are some of the most dedicated fans out there and their saftey can certainly be at risk as well.

    1. Isle of Man Race Track
For over a century now, the isle of man located in the Irish Sea has hosted one of the most dangerous races on the planet. Also known as the TT this race track is well known for its motorcycle crashes which only adds to its danger. Adrenaline junkies and people with the need for speed will compete and this 37.5 mile long road could be the most dangerous in all of Europe. Speedsters put on a death-defying show on closed down public streets while reaching speeds over 200 miles an hour and posting an average speed of 130 miles an hour. As you can tell from looking at a map, the racetrack covers a huge portion of the little island. As we all know weather conditions in the UK can get a little bit wet which certainly ads to its difficulty.

10 Roads You Would Never Want to Drive On
Some people love riding a roller coaster! The feeling of having their heart in their mouth, makes them thrilled and high on adrenaline. But have you heard of the ways, which go through the clouds? Today let's visit, 10 roads you would never want to drive. You will see the most incredible, and dangerous roads in the world. They leave people who driving on them breathless and terrified. Let's get started!

NUMBER 10. PASSAGE DU GOIS FRANCE. This 4.3 kilometer stretch of road, links the french mainland, with the island of normantior, on france's atlantic coast. At first glance, you might think that's not a bad road to drive on. Wait a few hours and your opinion will change. As the tide comes in, and causes the entire route to vanish. The road is approachable only twice a day, before and right after the low tide. When the tide is high, it covers the route with 13 foot or 4 meter layer of water. You will need to know the schedule of the tides in fact.

NUMBER 9. GUOLIANG TUNNEL, CHINA. The guoliang tunnel, is an amazing 1.2 kilometer long mountain road in china. The story of its creation is unbelievable. Before its construction, there had been a very dangerous path, with narrow steep stairs, which didn't have any handrails. Something had to be done. So the tunnel was built. The shocking news though is that, it was constructed by 13 people. They used just hammers and steel tools, but after only 5 years they finished it. It's about 13 feet or 4 meters. Wide so you must drive really carefully.

NUMBER 8. PATIOPOULO PERDIKAKI ROAD, GREECE. Peradikaki is a tiny village with a population of just about 356. It sits at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level, and the road leading to it is one of the most dangerous roads in the world. Located in western greece, the road climbs over 1160 feet, despite being poorly maintained, and chocked full of potholes.

  • 5 Roads You Would Never Want to Drive On

    3:33

Some of the roads are so dangerous that rental car insurance companies won’t cover you for driving on these roads. If an insurance company thinks it is not safe to drive, you know the road must be extremely dangerous.
    1. Passage du Gois (France)

    Google Maps
This 4.3km road connects mainland France and the island of Noirmoutier. At first glance it might look like a normal road to drive on. However, if you wait a few hours you might see a completely different picture.

    wikimedia.org
As a matter of fact, this road is flooded twice a day by the high tide. If you want to drive on this road, make sure you check the tide schedule.
Even if you time the tides right, driving this road can be challenging. As you can imagine, the road is wet and often covered with seaweed. As a result it can be very slippery to drive on. Use extreme caution, drive slowly and avoid having to break suddenly. You might also want to pack an inflatable boat, just in case…
    2. Patiopoulo-Perdikaki Road (Greece)

    blogspot.com
Perdikaki-Patiopoulo is a 2.35 km mountain road located in Greece. The road is steep with a lot of pot holes. It is also extremely narrow with severe drops on both sides of the road. Moreover, there are no guard rails! Add pedestrians, livestock, trucks and buses and you will get one of the most dangerous roads in the world to drive.
There are no marking to determine the edge of the road. Which makes it especially dangerous at night when most of the accidents happen. It is scary to drive it during day light but at night it is completely insane!
    3. Skippers Canyon Road (New Zealand)

Skippers Canyon Road is one of New Zealand’s scenic routes and tourist destinations. This 26.5 km road was build over 140 years ago by hand by miners.
The road has very little safety features and it is extremely narrow. When two vehicles meet on the road, one often will have to back up to find a part of the road where it is wide enough to pass safely. And such spot might be really hard to find. Sometimes one vehicle has to reverse for up to 3 km.
This road is so dangerous that your rental car insurance won’t be honored if you drive on it.
    4. Eyre Highway (Australia)

    wikimedia.org
Eyre Highway is 1675km long and it goes through the most remote parts of Australia. This road is straight, flat and well maintained. So what is dangerous about it?
The road is so straight, flat and boring that drivers are having hard time to concentrate on the road or even stay awake. As a result, the road experiences a significant number of crashes and collisions.
    5. Zoji La Pass (India)

    photoshelter.com
It is hard to call it a road. Zoji La (or The Zozila) is an important mountain pass in India. It serves as a link between Ladakh and Kashmir. The road is 9 km long and 3,500 meters above sea level. Due to heavy snowfall and high winds the pass is often closed during winter time. Even when the weather is good this road is extremely dangerous to drive on. It is narrow, there are no safety barriers and it is used by large trucks and livestock! This road is definitely the one to stay clear of.
    Stay Safe!
