  • Interpret Dog Tail Wags: How to Understand Dogs Body Language

    4:12

In this video, we'll explain the meaning of each dog's tail signs.

The position of a dog's tail can reveal a lot about what that dog is thinking and feeling. The speed of the wag, the pattern of movement, and the breadth of each tail sweep can all give information about a dog's intentions and emotions. In this video, we will teach you how to interpret the language of a dog’s tail.

Tail held high and stiff indicates alertness and the desire to display dominance. When dogs are alert, they stand with their tails raised and ears up. This posture means that they are observing carefully and ready to confront whatever caught their attention. This position could also be a display of dominance. In other words, they are showing their role as the dog who rules the world

Tail held straight out means that the dog is taking in new information and is so far responding neutrally. There could be a new canine in the neighborhood, or at the dog park. Your dog is curious and just doesn’t know what to make of them yet.

Tail held between the legs indicates submission or fear. A tucked tail is a sign that your dog is afraid, scared or uncomfortable. They could be in pain, or afraid of something or someone.

    Tail wagging to the left
It may be hard to catch, but a dog will wag their tail to the left if they are suspicious of another dog or a person they don’t trust.
Recent studies suggest that a tail wagging to the left indicates negative feelings, fear or stress. Dogs may show this tail wagging behavior in the presence of an unfamiliar, dominant dog.

    Tail wagging to the right
It seems a little bit unbelievable, but recent research suggests that tail wagging to the right indicates positive feelings, or that your dog is relaxed. Oftentimes, dogs show this tail wagging behaviour when they see their owner.

Tail held high and wagging indicates the dog is happy but also alert. The dog is cautiously excited but displaying dominance.

The breadth of each tail sweep and the frequency at which a tail moves add further meaning to canine communication.

Fast, Broad Wag: This indicates a friendly, happy dog who is not threatening anyone. You may have brought them a new treat, or maybe you got the leash out for a walk. This is the closest to the popular concept of the happiness wag, especially if the tail seems to drag the hips with it.

Slow, reluctant wag: A slow wag with the tail at half-mast is less social than most other tail signals. Generally speaking, slow wags with the tail in neither a particularly submissive nor a dominant position might indicate a dog who is feeling anxious, less enthusiastic, or insecure.

Quick, short wag: A slight wag, with each swing of only small breadth, usually happens during greetings, when a dog is feeling tentative.

Very tiny, high-speed movements that give the impression of the tail vibrating are signs the dog is about to run, fight, or attack. If the tail is held high while vibrating, it is most likely an active threat.

It’s important to recognize that different breeds carry their tails at different heights. Some dogs, like Beagles, hold their tails vertically. Others like Greyhounds tuck their tails. All tail positions should be read relative to the average and neutral position where that dog normally holds its tail.

    A Short Tail
A stubby or curly tail may make it more difficult for dogs to communicate with their owners and with other dogs.
A key component to reading truncated tails is to look at the base of the tail. They still mimic the same signals as those with long tails, but may not be as easily recognizable.
Interestingly enough, recent studies have shown that dogs with tiny tails are twice as likely to have aggressive encounters as dogs with longer tails

While you can understand a lot about your canine companion from their tail signs, it’s important to observe the entire dog and watch out for other tell-tale signs such as posture, facial expressions and body movements. Watch our other videos to learn more about how to understand your dog better.

  • 14 Critical Signs Your Dog Is Begging For Help

    7:25

In this video, we will discuss 14 important signs that your dog is sick and desperately needs your help.

Since dogs can’t tell us when something is wrong, it’s up to us to recognize the signs that they may give us. Here are 14 signs that your dog is crying out for help.

    Sudden Aggression
When your relatively young pet suddenly starts to become aggressive, there could be a problem. Your dog could be experiencing pain or have an infection.

    Appetite Loss

a dog who seems to be eating less or who has stopped eating for longer than 24 hours is one who needs medical attention.

A loss of appetite can mean infection, parasites, gastric disease, diabetes, and even cancer in some cases.

    Hiding

A pet who goes from craving your attention to hiding under the bed all day might be in bad shape. Pets who suddenly start to hide could be stressed out or have an invisible illness wreaking havoc in their body.
In dogs, it's important to take hiding as a bad sign.

    Postural changes

When your tummy or joints hurt, you might have an instinct to stretch the area. Dogs have this instinct, too. So, if your dog starts to display odd positions such as the prayer position which means bum up, front down, and legs rigid, he might be having abdomen problems. Other positions that indicate a problem include the sawhorse - rigid legs outstretched- and a back that hunches or arches.

    Lack of Energy
Although this is a bigger concern in puppies and young dogs, general disinterest in exercise or active pastimes can be an indication that your furry friend is ill or has a physical problem that is hurting them.

Increased urination coupled with drinking a lot

If your dog is housetrained and suddenly starts to urinate all over the house or needs to go outside more often, it might be due to some kind of illness. Namely, a dog who drinks a lot and then urinates frequently might be battling diabetes or a kidney problem.

    Swollen Tummy

A distended abdomen - that is a large, swollen tummy- can mean several different problems. It can be a sign of a hormonal imbalance, an infection, a digestive disease, or internal bleeding. Undiagnosed, this problem can make it hard for your dog to breathe as it puts pressure on the lungs.

    Crying or Whining
Crying or Whining can indicate that your dog is experiencing some kind of pain.

    Too much fur loss

So, if you notice unusual clumps of hair on the floor or large patches of bare skin on your pet's back, a vet visit is necessary. Too much shedding can be an indication of skin disease. In some cases, it can also be due to a vitamin deficiency, an allergy, or an overload of stress.

    Changes in maintenance habits

When your dog starts to neglect their grooming routine, it may be time for a checkup. Your dog could be suffering from a range of ailments that cause fatigue, which would explain the undoing of their grooming habits.

    Excessive licking

Dogs will lick an area a lot if there is pain in that area. Commonly, dogs with sore paws or legs will lick them. They could also be suffering from fleas, which cause itchiness. Sometimes, licking means gastrointestinal issues are at play - especially if your pet starts to lick strange surfaces.

    Trouble getting up

When your dog seems to take ages to stand up, he's probably not feeling well. A dog who takes a long time to pull themselves into a standing position is probably experiencing some form of pain, such as arthritis. He may also be suffering from internal disease that causes a loss of strength and energy.

    Sleeping longer than usual
If you notice your dog is suddenly sleeping longer than usual, it may be a sign of diabetes, infections, thyroid gland issues, or stress.

    Dilated pupils

Random pupil dilation or pupils that are large for an extended period of time can be a telltale sign that something hurts. Pupil dilation is connected to an increase in adrenaline, which surges when something hurts.

    Gums changing color

Normally, your dog's gums are a healthy shade of pink, with the exception being certain breeds like chows. So, when you catch a glimpse of those gums and they're not pink and vibrant, your pet could be suffering from some kind of sickness.

Gums that are redder than usual can indicate a dental issue - especially if the redness is right above the teeth, while bleeding gums can be a sign of trauma or infections.
Pale gums that lack color are usually a sign of blood loss. This is because gums get their bubble-gum pink color from blood flowing beneath the surface.

In addition, gums that have ulcers or an unpleasant odor should be taken as a warning sign.

    Coughing

Coughing can be a result of breathing difficulties in breeds with pushed in faces such as pugs. These breeds are prone to airway blockages and sinus problems in the first place. A non-pushed in face dog who coughs likely had what's known as kennel cough. This is the doggy equivalent to a cold, and it generally passes within a few weeks.

  • 15 Things Dogs Hate about Humans

    7:38

In this video, we’ll discuss the top 15 things dogs hate about humans

    Being Rushed at Potty Time
Dogs want to be able to take their time when they go out to potty. Aside from doing their business, they also like to have some time to explore and sniff. Instead of rushing your dog, train them to come back when they are done. This is easily done with treats and positive reinforcement.

    Badly Timed Walks
Make sure you pay attention to your dog’s cues. If it is too hot or too cold out, a walk may not be the best idea. Oftentimes, humans like a midday walk. But keep in mind that in the middle of summer, the pavement could be scorching hot and very uncomfortable on your dog’s paws. In the winter, you will want to make sure the temperature is not too cold and that there is a place to walk where the snow is not cumbersome. Dogs can get snow in between their toes, making it painful to walk.

    Poor Nail Trimming
If you are not sure how to do it properly, it is better left to a professional. If you cut your dog’s nails too short, you will be cutting their quick, a blood vessel and nerve found in the nail. This can result in a lot of blood and it hurts your dog.
On the flip side, if the nails are too long after clipping, they get in the way of your dog’s walking and can cause pain.

    Deserting and Isolating
Dogs are pack animals. When they are in the wild, they do everything together and they are loyal to the pack. For a domestic dog, you are the leader of their pack. When you are not able to spend enough time with your dog, they can develop separation anxiety.

    Hugging
Even though it’s tempting, full-body hugs aren’t good for dogs. A hug is usually threatening or unwelcome to them, especially if they feel trapped.
Dogs are not human so having someone come up and wrap their arms around their body or neck may be disconcerting. Rather than hugging a dog, let the dog lean into you and pet them on their back and chest.

    A Tight Leash
Dogs get irritated if they are being pulled on their leash all the time. It is painful and it can injure them and also frustrate them. A dog can easily be leash trained with the use of a proper harness and positive reinforcement.

    Deviating from the Schedule
Dogs are creatures of habit. They get accustomed to a schedule and come to expect certain things at certain times. Try to have a regular schedule for everything from feeding to play-time.

    No Opportunity to Explore
Dogs need their exercise and love going on walks. But going for a walk and not having a chance to explore is no fun at all.
Dogs see the world primarily through scent. Rushing your dog through a walk without allowing them to stop is unkind.

    Making them Apologize
Many people think that dogs know when they have done something wrong because they look guilty. But in reality, your dog isn’t sorry that they have chewed your shoes or knocked over your plants. Scientists believe that dogs can’t feel complex emotions such as guilt or shame. Your dog is just reacting to your body language and the tone of your voice. They appear scared or upset because you are angry at them.

Your House Has Scents They Hate
Dogs have about a 1000-10,000 of your ability to perceive scents. There are smells that we may barely notice but they could be very annoying to your dog. Try to minimize perfumes, cleaning products, vinegar, chili peppers, and citrus scents. This is not to say these items can’t be in your house at all but you should provide a place for your dog where the scent would not be a problem.

    Inconsistency
Make sure that you all use the same hand signals and verbal commands with your dog so they know what you want. Giving mixed signals will confuse and frustrate your pet.

    Bath time
Dogs hate getting a bath due to a variety of reasons. Their aversion to bathing goes far beyond the concept of getting wet. They might hate the smell of the shampoo, or they might be afraid of the running water.

    Phrases
Commands with too many words confuse and frustrate them. Use keywords rather than long phrases, and reinforce these words with gestures and body language.

    Past Trauma
The Humane Society speculates that some dogs are born with certain fears. They can also develop fear from past trauma. Many dogs fear loud noises, and any loud and unfamiliar sound may startle them.
Yelling at your dog is another way that creates anxiety and stress.
Dogs can also be afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks. You can't control forces of nature but you should avoid taking your pet to places where their fears may intensify.

    Dressing your dog
Don’t buy clothes for your pet just because they may look cute in them.
When it is cold, you may want to dress your dog for walks but also, keep in mind that they have fur to help regulate their body temperature. If you do live in a colder climate and choose to use a jacket, ensure that it is not restrictive.

  • 12 Harmful Things You Do to Your Dog Without Realizing It

    12:51

How to Keep Your Dog Healthy. If you're a dog owner, you surely want your pet to be healthy and to live a long and happy life. But you might sometimes do things that can potentially harm your canine companion without even realizing it. Here are some common mistakes people unintentionally make when it comes to taking care of their doggies.

    TIMESTAMPS
    Choosing the wrong collar 1:00
Leaving a dog alone in the car 3:08
    Neglecting your dog's teeth 4:15
Letting your dog eat everything 6:07
Bringing puppies to a dog park 7:47
    Using physical punishment 8:13
    Providing too little stimulation 9:48
Not securing your dog in the car 10:31
Yelling when your dog does something wrong 11:05
Skipping flea, tick, and worming treatment 11:28
    Leaving harmful objects around 11:51
    Neglecting breed-specific health issues 12:22

    Music:

    SUMMARY
-There are several types of collars, and you need pick the one that best suits the needs and character of your pup, as well as a place to attach his license. Whether you've settled on a harness or gone for a collar, the second (and just as important!) step is making sure it’s the right size. If a collar or harness is too big, your pooch may escape.
-Dogs don't sweat like people do, so they can overheat much faster than you’d think. And since they lack this crucial ability to cool themselves off, the consequences of staying in a locked car can turn out fatal.
-A dog’s teeth need to be cleaned just like people’s teeth do. Don't use toothpastes and toothbrushes designed for people! There are special ones made just for dogs, and they’re pretty different from the human kinds.
-Never feed human food to your dog! It's way too salty, too spicy, and too fatty for them. In fact, most dishes you eat are severely toxic for them.
-To start with, dogs can sometimes be passive carriers of diseases. Secondly, grown-up dogs, especially large ones, can be incredibly rough when playing and running around.
-Physical punishment doesn’t work and actually does the opposite of what you want – it makes your dog scared of you. Reward-based training is much more effective than physical discipline.
-Just like you, dogs need constant mental and physical stimulation-, especially working breeds, which is why regular walking is a must.
-If you don’t secure your dog in the car and you end up in an accident, your pet can get seriously injured or even killed.
-Dogs don’t understand “NO”, so it only freaks your dog out, especially if you’re ticked off about something that happened a while ago.
-Some people say you can take a break from flea, tick, and heartworm medicine in winter if you live in a cold climate, but you really should discuss it with your veterinarian.
-Dog-proof your house by putting away anything your pet can chew or swallow. Things like medications, screws and nails, magnets, coins, and batteries should never be within your pet’s reach.
-Always do your research before you get a pet so that you’ll know how to best take care of it and what problems to look out for.

  • What Your Dogs Sleeping Position Reveals About Its Character

    10:01

What does a dog’s sleeping position mean? Most dog owners know about their pets' habits and easily understand when their dog is happy, worried, surprised, or scared. You can also reveal some of your dog's secrets by analyzing its favorite resting position.

    TIMESTAMPS:
    The Snowball 1:17
    The Pancake 2:12
    Superman 3:26
Curled up in a ball 4:29

    The Dead Cockroach 6:27
    The Sphinx 7:36
    The Burrower 7:18
Bonus: How to understand that your dog is absolutely unique 8:50

    #dogssleep #understanddog #dogcharacter

    Music:

    SUMMARY:

    - The snowball is one of the most popular positions among dogs — and among cats as well! In this position, a dog curves its spine, and its nose is located not far from its tail.
    - The pancake is the most restorative position for sleep, and, in most cases, that's exactly when REM sleep occurs. So don't get spooked if your doggy starts to kick and paddle out of the blue. It's just acting out its dreams.
    - If you notice that your adult dog prefers Superman position, it may indicate that it feels hot. Perhaps it's been a sweltering day or your dog has been playing and exercising too hard. Your dog may be simply exhausted.
    - You can sometimes catch your pet curled up in a tight ball with its tail wrapped around its body and its paws neatly tucked away. This way of sleeping resembles the fetal position in humans.
    - If your dog prefers sleeping on its back with its front legs bent over its chest and its back legs extended, you’ll probably guess that it feels at ease.
    - By sleeping in the dead cockroach position, your pet can be cooling off. You must have noticed that some areas of dogs' tummies aren't as fluffy as the rest of their body.
    - The sphinx position allows your dog to take off running as soon as you call it. Not many dogs sleep this way, and this is kind of a transitional state between wakefulness and rest.
    - If your pooch is a burrower, it needs more affection and attention than any other animal. When such dogs snuggle into something cozy, they are searching for security and comfort.
    - If you notice that one part of your pet rests on a comfortable sofa and the other resides on a hard, unforgiving floor AND your dog is sound asleep at this time, congratulations! You're the owner of a unique dog!

    - If the dog wags his tail slowly, this means he doesn’t understand what’s going on.
    - A tucked tail is a sign that the dog is scared, afraid of pain, or feels uncomfortable. Most often, the dog tucks his tail between his legs when he is really afraid of something or someone.
    - When you approach an unfamiliar dog, it’s better to avoid looking directly into his eyes. For dogs, staring at the eyes means aggression.
    - The ears are standing straight up or inclined forward. The dog is showing you that he’s curious and reacting to some new event in his environment.
    - The dog yawns. This means your dog is grumpy and nervous. Puppies do this quite often when they’re surrounded by big unfamiliar dogs.
    - The dog licks his face. The dog does this when he’s stressed or feeling pressure or danger.
    - The dog rolls over and exposes his belly. The dog is showing that he trusts you and wants to please you.
    - The dog puts his head on your knee. This means the dog wants to get attention and show that he needs you.
    - The dog puts his paw on your knee. If the dog does this with a very smug look, he is trying to dominate.
    - The dog has one front paw raised. This stance means your pet wants to ask you something.
    - Dogs may shake (like they shake off water after a bath) as a way of relieving tension. Probably, your dog was in stress or met an unpleasant person or dog.

  • What Your Cats Sleeping Position Reveals About Their Health and Personality

    5:47

Cats’ Sleeping Positions can reveal a lot about their personality, health and how they are feeling.
This guide breaks down the most common cat sleeping positions and explains the science behind why cats sleep in certain ways.

    #1. Curled-up
In the curled-up position, the cat curls its tail around its body and tucks its head towards the chest. This resting position means that your cat might be trying to conserve body heat and provide protection to the fundamental parts of its body. It’s the most common sleeping position for animals in the wild, too, as it helps conserve warmth and protects the vital organs.

    #2. A Cat in a Box

A cat in a box position means that your cat is worried about its security and is seeking comfort and protection. When cats sleep in smaller, congested areas, this shows their concern about safety. The solid walls of a box make them feel secure by providing them with a tight and secure space. Other than boxes, cats may also seek out drawers, bowls, and other objects that they can fit tightly into. Maybe your cat is scared of other pets or children in the household. You can help her out by creating an enclosed box with sufficient fluffiness inside to help her sleep comfortably.

    #3. Belly up Position

A cat’s stomach is its most vulnerable area. So, if your cat is sleeping in a belly-up position in which the legs are pointed at weird angles while the stomach is facing the ceiling, this is a sign that the cat feels comfortable and safe in your home. You can consider yourself lucky that you’ve won the trust of your fluffy pet. That’s because, cats are usually concerned about their safety and won’t expose their vulnerable parts when they aren’t sure about their surroundings. Sleeping on their back is an indication that your pet is confident and relaxed with its surroundings.

    #4. The Half-Eye Shut Position

One thing about predators is that they hunt and do not like to get hunted in return.
This is the reason that your cat is not closing its eyes all the way even though it is dozing off.
In this position, you will notice that your cat’s ears are constantly moving, which means your pet is alert. This shallow form of sleep can last for hours. Your pet is aware of what is going on in its surroundings, and any unusual sound will jolt the cat into complete attention.
In another version of this position, the cat sleeps with one eye shut and the other open. This is called Unihemispheric Slow-wave Sleep. In this form, half of the brain is in unconscious while the other half is conscious and alert.
This form of sleeping is beneficial because your cat can rest even in places with some sense of threat.

    #5. The Loaf Position

In this position, the cat sits upright but tucks its front paws under the body. If you find your cat sleeping in a loaf-like position, this means your cat does not want to sleep for long and is only resting before the next activity.

    #6. Sleeping Sideways

Sleeping sideways is an extremely relaxing sleeping position for a cat. Sleeping on one side with their limbs stretched out means that your cat is fully content and feeling safe. Your cat is in total relaxation mode and does not feel the need to remain alert. Cats fall into a deep sleep in this position.

#7. Paw Above the Face Position

Paw-over-face is one of the most adorable sleeping positions common to cats which will leave you surprised at most times.
When the cat puts a paw across the face, it signals that they don’t wish to be disturbed.
This generally happens when the cat is sleeping soundly and unknowingly. This position also occurs when a bright light or the daylight is making the cat feel uncomfortable and so they cover their eyes as a result.

    #8. Monorail Cat

Monorail position is when the cat lies on the arms or backs of chairs, sofas, staircase banisters, fence posts, or the tops of doors. Typically, the cat dangles down all four legs in this position. This position is called the “monorail” because the posture of the cat is such that it resembles a monorail transit system.
Cats have zero understanding of architectural rules regarding access and functionality. They like to rest in this position as it is more suitable for general surveillance

    #9. The Contortionist

A cat in the contortionist position, will sleep all twisted up with their limbs hanging in different directions while her head is twisted at weird angles. There is no particular reason behind this position and your cat might only choose it because it is comforting to them at the time.

So, there you have it, all the most important and commonly observed cat sleeping positions lined up for you. You can now easily understand all those untold signals and signs that your cat cannot tell you themselves. You can find out whether your cat is feeling secure or threatened and if they are sleeping comfortably or not.

  • Pete The vet - What to do when your dog is vomitting

    7:08

Rex the Collie had been vomiting for five days. He was keen to eat food, but every meal was regurgitated after half an hour. Poor Rex was seriously ill, and his owners had brought him to me for help.
Vomiting is common in the dog world. Dogs are scavengers by nature – in the wild they are carrion eaters, and their stomach is designed to reject any foodstuffs which are not suitable for digestion. This rejection occurs by the vomiting reflex, which involves rapid contraction of the stomach, followed by forcible regurgitation of all stomach contents through the mouth.

Modern domestic dogs have retained both the scavenging instinct and the effective vomiting reflex. In practice, this means that dogs love raking around for scraps of food. Raiding the garbage is a popular pastime for dogs of all shapes and sizes. In addition, if pet dogs eat anything unusual or indigestible, their owner will often find the consequences on the kitchen floor the following morning.
An occasional vomiting episode does no harm, and in fact may perform the useful function of ejecting unwanted rubbish out of the digestive tract. In most cases, if a dog is fasted for twenty-four hours after a vomiting episode, no further treatment is needed, and the animal returns to normal.

However, if an animal vomits repeatedly, and if fasting does not cure the problem, then the situation is more serious. It is then essential to take the affected animal to the vet.
When Rex arrived, it was clear that there was something serious happening. An X-ray of his abdomen showed exactly what was wrong. His stomach was packed full of sharp-ended pieces of bone. His owner had told me that he enjoyed chewing bones. He had obviously chewed this bone into dangerously shaped pieces, which he had then swallowed.

Rex was immediately set up with a drip of warm intra-venous fluids. Repeated vomiting causes the loss of large amounts of regurgitated secretions from the body, which causes dehydration. Dehydration can cause life-threatening complications. It is important to correct any fluid imbalance before attempting other treatment of a dehydrated vomiting animal.

When Rex had been stabilised with fluids, he was given a general anaesthetic, and a gastrotomy was carried out. After opening into his abdomen, his stomach was lifted up to the incision line. The stomach was cut open using a scalpel blade, and the impacted, boney contents were removed. The sharp edges of bone had dug into the outlet of the stomach, causing a complete obstruction. When the stomach contents had been flushed out, Rex’s stomach was sewn up again, and the incision into his abdomen was then closed.

Rex was awake less than an hour later, but he was a sleepy dozey dog, with his senses blurred by the high dose of post-operative pain killers. By the next morning, he was back to tail-wagging form, but he was given no food for another 24 hours. The stomach produces acid whenever food is eaten, so it is important that an animal is fasted until the initial phase of healing of a stomach wound is complete.
Rex enthusiastically devoured a small bowl of bland food the next morning. He remained under close observation for a further three days, but there was no more vomiting. He went home with strict instructions for a carefully supervised diet.

Rex has had no further problems, but he no longer enjoys the luxury of fresh bones from the butcher. His owner has decided that one operation is enough, and Rex has been confined to a standard meat and biscuit diet. His bone crunching days are over!

  • Man Comes To Adopt Pit Bull At Shelter, But She Refused To Let Go Of Her Best Friend

    5:01

One day a man walked into the Rocket Dog Rescue in San Francisco to look for a dog to adopt. He quickly fell in love with a three-year-old pit bull named Merrill. When it was time to pick her up, the shelter ran into a bit of a problem. Merrill wouldn't leave her best friend behind.

The volunteers at Rocket Dog Rescue dedicate their time to save unwanted and abused dogs from overcrowded shelters. Their mission is to stop dogs from getting euthanized. They regularly rescue dogs that don't have the best luck getting adopted. In 2014, the rescue took in a sick pit bull and an older Chihuahua. The two pups wouldn't leave each other's side.

Merrill and her eight-year-old Chihuahua friend Taco were brought to Rocket Dog Rescue together. The volunteers knew nothing about the dog's owner, but they did know that the two dogs were best friends. They were together all the time, and if they ever got separated, they would cry. Soon enough, the shelter truly understood how deep their bond went.

  • Learning how to dog

    5:30

Puppies without tomorrow, born in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unwanted, dumped somewhere in the middle of nowhere, left to fend for themselves. With ticks covering their entire bodies, draining every single drop of their blood, draining their lives. Those miserable and unfair lives. The worst of all is that Thelma and Louise didn’t know how unlucky they were. They were lying there, in the middle of nowhere, wagging their tails and sunbathing. We never know exactly where puppies like them come from, but in a way, we do know. They come from the thousands of back yard, guard or sheep dogs, from ill educated owners stuck in a mentality of the previous century when puppy disposal was the only way of population control and when animals were seen as objects. There are millions of puppies like these two, dumped in fields, mountains or even the garbage every year in Greece. Some are rescued and some aren’t. The girls spent the first and best months of their lives in Thalia’s rescue place, with a lot of love and affection but absolutely no interaction with the outside world, and as is always the case, they grew up to be fearful of everything unknown. Despite that, Louise managed to overcome her fears and become a social, funional, happy and easy going dog within just a week of living with me and my dogs. Cars, busey streets, elevators, stairs, noises, coffee shops, strangers - all those were things she saw for the first time at six months, and she took it all in as if somewhere inside her she already had the knowledge of what all that was. She left with a wagging tail and a huge smile on her face for her forever home in Holland, where she adjusted immediately, without any problem. Thelma is still with us, and she is being trained too. She was always more reluctant and less social than her sister, but she is making amazing progress, and she will be an adoptable dog soon. If you wish to adopt her, you can email me at: support@theorphanpet.com

Joie told Truly: He's far from a typical alligator, he loves cuddling and he loves giving kisses. As well as having full run of the house, Wally is regularly taken out for walks to parks, malls and even restaurants.

  • Dog Left To Die With A Taped Mouth And Legs Can’t Stop Wiggling His Tail After Being Rescued

    29

    Source:BoredPanda
It was supposed to be just an ordinary commute to work for plumber Carlos Carillo and his colleague when they saw something unexpected in a ditch off the country road. “We didn’t know he was a dog at first,” Carrillo, an employee of Shoreline Plumbing in Texas, told The Dodo. “We reversed and saw him.” The doggie’s mouth was taped shut and he’d been tied up with tubing. He was clearly left there to die…
Carillo and his friend rushed to cut the pooch free. “He seemed OK,” said Carrillo. “He was very loving and liked the attention. He was probably just there for a day or so.”
The plumbers got the dog into their truck and took him to Peewee’s Pet Adoption, a nearby no-kill shelter. “Look at that face,” wrote Carrillo about how happy the dog seemed to be alive. “He knows he was saved!”
It turned out the dog was in good health despite having heartworms, for which they started a treatment. “His tail won’t stop wagging,” a spokesperson at the Peewee’s Pet Adoption told The Dodo. “He’s such a sweetheart.”
The person who so heartlessly left the dog to die wasn’t found, but at least thanks to the plumbers, the dog got a second chance at life. All he needs now is a loving forever home.
