  • Something is glowing in the middle of the Milky Way, which astonishes the scientists!

    11:18

    Astronomers only understood what the Milky Way is when they discovered its infinite sisters and cousins in the universe at the beginning of the 20th century. This was made possible by the installation of telescopes equipped with photo chambers. It has been found that our galaxy measures about 100,000 light-years in diameter. Now scientists have discovered a mysterious glow in the Milky Way!

  • Scientists Cant Explain Whats Currently Happening On Jupiters Moon Io!

    12:27

    The second smallest and innermost of the four Galilean moons, Io, was first documented by Galileo Galilei in January 1610. Io proved to earthlings, along with the moons Ganymede, Europa and Callisto, that our pale blue point is not the center of the universe, the galaxy or even the solar system, since these four satellites were apparently orbiting Jupiter, unlike us. While Galileo kept his observations secret for years because of the then Catholic Church, his documentation of Io paved the way for some very strange findings about this moon in the following centuries.

  • Signs of life on Mars!

    12:02

    Mars and Venus are our closest neighbors in the solar system. If Mars is in a particularly favorable position, it is only 55.6 million kilometers away from us on its elliptical orbit. Then we see it as bright red with the naked eye standing in the night sky. Astronomers observed strange processes on Mars as early as the 17th century. Due to the change in color and Earth-like surface structures, it was soon assumed that life existed on Mars.

  • What did the Soviets photograph on Venus? - Real Images!

    9:52

    In the 1950s, the now legendary race into space began, in which the United States of America and the Soviet Union shifted their strong competition into space. Both sides attempted to gain supremacy in space. Pioneering work was to be done in order to underpin the scientific power of the respective state. Everyone knows about the race to launch the first orbiting satellite into space and that it ended with a Soviet victory by Sputnik 1. Also the first man in space - Yuri Gagarin - was Soviet.

    Of course, the fight for the first manned journey to the moon is still in the minds of people all over the world today. When Apollo 11 landed on the moon in 1969 and Neil Armstrong took his famous step for mankind, the USA could finally present itself as the winner.

    In all these competitions in space, however, another interesting subject area fell behind. For Venus was also studied extensively. The Soviets even succeeded in using probes to take photographs of the planet's surface.

  • NASA takes a Image of Mysterious Object that arrived from another Solar System!

    11:21

    When we think of the sheer infinite vastness of the universe, we often ask ourselves what mysterious objects may be found in other solar systems. Indeed, space exploration is still in its infancy. While international scientists are currently working feverishly to study in detail the celestial bodies in our own planetary system, we can only speculate about those planets and galactic entities that lie outside the visible universe. Finally, should the rare case occur that an object from a distant galaxy roams through our solar system, this circumstance is tantamount to a galactic sensation. In the course of our following video, we would like to take a closer look at one of these mysterious objects together with you. Not long ago, NASA succeeded in discovering a fascinating object whose origin lies in an unknown distance. We wish you much pleasure with this exciting topic!

  • Gigantic structures Discovered in the halo of the Milky Way

    2:22

    *
    In a landmark study, scientists using NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope have mapped the immense envelope of gas, called a halo, surrounding the Andromeda galaxy, our nearest large galactic neighbor. Scientists were surprised to find that this tenuous, nearly invisible halo of diffuse plasma extends 1.3 million light-years from the galaxy—about halfway to our Milky Way—and as far as 2 million light-years in some directions. This means that Andromeda’s halo is already bumping into the halo of our own galaxy.

    Earth Is Spinning Faster Than It Has In Over 50 Years
    Is the Earth spinning faster? Scientists think so.
    They believe each day is a smidge shorter than 24 hours because the planet is rotating faster than it has in 50 years,
    Since last year, a full day has been taking less than the normal 24 hours.
    July 19, 2020, was the shortest day since scientists began keeping records in the 1960s — 1.4602 milliseconds shorter than the full 24 hours.
    That’s a retreat from previous records showing that for decades, the Earth took slightly longer than 24 hours to complete a rotation.
    The International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) announced in July of last year that no “leap second” would be added to the world’s official timekeeping in December 2020.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The center of the Milky Way, where our galaxy's supermassive black hole lies, is volatile, filled with gas clouds and high-energy particles whipped up by the black hole, Sagittarius A* and stars close to the galactic center. This creates a wind of gases that shoot out deeper into the galaxy and eventually into the dark void of space.
    This creates a wind of gases that shoot out deeper into the galaxy and eventually into the dark void of space.
    Astronomers have found evidence for hot, warm and cool gases in the wind, ranging in temperatures from around 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit to as high as almost 2 million degrees Fahrenheit (1111093.33 degrees celsius)
    researchers report the existence of cold gas clouds, challenging some of the beliefs about the processes in our galaxy's core.
    Understanding what might be happening in our galactic center will help us answer lingering questions about how galaxies evolve over time. To understand what might be happening in the wind surrounding the galactic center, the research team pointed both the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope in the Chilean desert and the Australia Telescope Compact Array at clouds within a region of the galaxy known as the Fermi bubbles.
    The research team analyzed two clouds within the bubbles, known as MW-C1 and MW-C2. By looking for the telltale radio signature of carbon monoxide they could characterize the clouds and resolve some of their features. They discovered the gases were much colder than previously described gases in the Milky Way's wind
  • Coherent structures in space and astrophysical plasmas, and plasma propulsion devices
    1:1:58
    Dr. Rodrigo Andrés Miranda Cerda
    UnB-Gama Campus and Plasma Physics Laboratory, University of Brasilia, (UnB), Brasilia-DF, Brazil
    Date: Aug 7, 2020 11:00 AM
    (Brazilian official time, GMT-3h)
    Abstract:
    Rare, large-amplitude coherent structures are responsible for non-Gaussian fluctuations, multifractality and synchronization among scales in intermittent turbulence. In this talk we will focus on the role of coherent structures in turbulent plasmas. We start discussing observational evidence from in-situ experiments in the interplanetary magnetic field turbulence. Then, we describe MHD simulations of a Keplerian shear flow in a regime of on-off intermittency. By computing the Shannon entropy in the spectral space we show that large-scale coherent structures are characterized by high degrees of Fourier amplitude-phase synchronization. We will also present particle-in-cell simulations of a two-dimensional model of a plasma propulsion device known as a Hall thruster. A prototype is currently being developed at the University of Brasilia. We demonstrate that the plasma in a Hall thruster displays turbulence and coherent structures arising from the ExB electron drift instability, which can affect the thruster efficiency.
    5:00
    This video is a simulated view of the Martian surface from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter mission, rendered from data taken with the spacecraft's MARCI (Mars Color Imager) camera during one orbit on March 7, 2020.
    **NOTE: due to a misinterpretation on my part, the flyover direction is the opposite of MRO's orbital direction**
    This flyover begins in the late summer twilight over the North pole, crossing southwards through the plains of Vastitas Borealis. The spacecraft then passes over the Nili Fossae region, one of the most geologically-diverse areas on the Martian surface. This region hosts Jezero Crater, the 45 km crater which will host the Perseverance Rover beginning in February 2021. The spacecraft then skirts the relatively flat and featureless terrain between the dark lava plains of Syrtis Major Planum and the bright lowlands on the west side of the Isidis impact basin. Crossing over major faults created by the Isidis basin, the spacecraft then enters the heavily cratered ancient terrain of Tyrrhena Terra. Near the end of the video, the spacecraft flies over the dust shrouded terrain of northern Promethei Terra (hidden under dust blown out of the Hellas Basin to the west) before entering clearing skies over the frosty late evening landscape of central Promethei Terra.
    The development of wide field imaging cameras on large optical telescopes has opened a new opportunity to examine stellar populations over the full optical/near-IR passband. We have used the Dark Energy Camera on the Blanco 4m telescope to image 200 sq. deg of the Galactic bulge in the Rubin/LSST passbands of ugrizY. The use of the u band permits calibration of red clump star metallicities to a precision of ~0.2 dex, and the use of the u band to observe and study multiple populations in many of the globular clusters in the field of regard. We show that some claims for extremely young stellar populations in the Galactic bulge cannot be supported. We also find that the bulge divides into two abundance distributions- one close to the one-zone model of chemical evolution near the Galactic plane, and the other a more metal poor distribution, outside of 500 pc. We also find that the structure of the bulge as a function of metallicity is stratified parallel to the plane and previous claims for a spheroidal distribution for [Fe/H] lower 0 are not sustained. We will discuss the future science being undertaken as our sample is integrated with Gaia astrometry.
    I will discuss the implications for the formation history of the bulge.
  • Scientists say Earth is spinning faster than it has in decades; a leap second may be added
    5:21
    The Earth's 28 fastest days on record (since 1960) all occurred in 2020.The Earth's rotation can change slightly because of weather and ocean patterns.A negative leap second will be needed if the Earth's rotation rate increases further.Even the Earth wanted 2020 to be over in a hurry: Our planet spun faster than normal last year, scientists say.As noted on LiveScience, the Earth's 28 fastest days on record (since 1960) all occurred in 2020, with Earth completing its revolutions around its axis milliseconds quicker than average.Usually, the Earth is an excellent timekeeper, according to TimeandDate.com. On average, with respect to the sun, it rotates once every 86,400 seconds, which equals 24 hours. This is known as a mean solar day.But it is not perfect, write Graham Jones and Konstantin Bikos on TimeandDate.com. When highly accurate atomic clocks were developed in the 1960s, they showed that the length of a mean solar day can vary by milliseconds (1 millisecond equals 0.001 seconds).The Earth's rotation can change slightly because of the movement of its core and also, surprisingly, because of weather and ocean patterns.Changes in the atmosphere, specifically atmospheric pressure around the world, and the motions of the winds that may be related to such climate signals as El Niño are strong enough that their effect is observed in the Earth’s rotation signal, David A. Salstein, an atmospheric scientist from Atmospheric and Environmental Research, said in 2003.2020 was an extreme year for Earth's temperatures. But was it the hottest on record? El Niño is a periodic natural warming of the tropical Pacific Ocean, while La Niña, which was observed toward the end of 2020, is a natural cooling of the same part of the Pacific. According to NOAA, while El Niño results in a decrease in the earth's rotation rate, La Niña tends to have the opposite effect.The recent acceleration in Earth's spin has scientists talking for the first time about a negative leap second, LiveScience said. Instead of adding a leap second, which has been done several timebefore to make up for a slowing of the Earth's rotation, they might need to subtract one. It's quite possible that a negative leap second will be needed if the Earth's rotation rate increases further, but it's too early to say if this is likely to happen, physicist Peter Whibberley of the National Physics Laboratory in the U.K., told The Telegraph. There are also international discussions taking place about the future of leap seconds, and it's also possible that the need for a negative leap second might push the decision towards ending leap seconds for good, he said. Because of the earth's inconsistent speed, scientists in the 1950s created an atomic clock to keep precise track of time. However, as the Earth's rotation can vary, the atomic clock continued steadily ahead and the two time indicators grew farther apart.To fix that inconsistency, scientists then created UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) to help
