  • IT HAPPENED! SpaceX Is FINALLY Launching Their Starship To Orbit in January 2022!

    8:55

It is a great time to be alive for space enthusiasts! For the first time in the history of the
space industry, a private company is launching both cargo and crew to the International
Space Station! This company is no other than SpaceX, but it has even greater
ambitions; it wants to take ordinary folks and not astronauts to Mars! Spurred on by its
visionary CEO, Elon Musk, the company has been rapidly building and testing the
rocket that will serve as the transport vehicle! And after years of hard work, SpaceX is
ready to send the Starship on its first orbital flight in January! How prepared are the
Starship and SpaceX for this momentous occasion? Let’s find out as we dive into how
SpaceX is testing the Starship in January!
Do you want to go to Mars one day? If yes is your answer, Elon Musk can make it
happen! You share the ambition with him, and he had been dreaming this since he was
a kid! However, that doesn’t mean Musk doesn’t have tangible reasons for establishing
a colony on Mars. He believes humans cannot afford not to be interplanetary because a
cosmic mishap could wipe out the earth! For humanity to be preserved, Musk is taking
volunteers, up to a million of them, to live permanently on the harsh planet Mars!
To make this longest migration in the history of humankind, Musk is building a giant
rocket called the Starship! There is no doubt that the spacecraft is meant for hopping
between planets as it was initially named Interplanetary Transport System. It will be the
first human-bearing spacecraft to land on another planet to take people to Mars.
However, it would have completed several uncrewed missions before that milestone.
You can’t just airlift humans to another planet because they will perish within a short
time! You need to prepare where they will live and other processes that will literally keep
them alive! So SpaceX will use the Starship to transport cargo ahead of the actual
    inhabitants!
Musk plans to make up to a thousand Starships that will blast off at the rate of three per
day. The CEO wants everything on steroids to save time! However, before he can send
off the first Starship on its way, Musk has a lot of testing and preparations to make! For
example, Musk has to upgrade the launch site to be capable of supporting the
operations of launching a rocket as powerful as the Starship. Consider fueling, for
example. The Starship requires a large amount of fuel to take off! The upper stage has
a capacity for 1200 tonnes of fuel while the booster takes almost triple of that at 3400
tonnes! That is hardly surprising given that the rocket can lift more than 100 tonnes of
payload per mission! But SpaceX has to get the facility ready to supply all that amount
of fuel! It is building tank farms that can contain the fuel.
However, even if the launch facility is ready, the Starship itself has to be thoroughly
tested! SpaceX is building an entirely new kind of rocket in several aspects. First, unlike
other rockets that are good for single use, the Starship works just like an airplane! It will
fly multiple times! The two stages of the Starship are fully reusable. SpaceX has been
partially reusing its Falcon rockets by recovering the boosters after each launch, but it is
going after full reusability with the Starship! After separation, the booster will return to
the earth for another launch. The Ship will also return after it completes its mission. This
Musk expects to reduce the cost of space travel significantly and open it up to more
people! He imagines you can sell your home to fund a trip to Mars aboard the Starship!
Needless to say, reusability introduces complications to the design. The Ship, for
example, has to be protected during the re-entry into the earth’s atmosphere. The heat
produced can fry all the electronic components that make the spacecraft function! To
prevent this potential damage, SpaceX has covered one side of the Ship, that is, the
side that will be exposed to the heat, with heat-resistant ceramic tiles.
SpaceX also had to design a landing system unique to the Starship. It begins by falling
out of the sky, belly first, to expel the greatest amount of velocity as physically possible
while in freefall. At around 500 meters in altitude, it will light two Raptor engines, gimbal
them full tilt, fold in the rear flaps, and swing from horizontal to vertical so it can land tail
    down on its landing legs.
When the rear fins retract and tuck in, the nose portion experiences a substantially
higher amount of drag compared to the tail section. This, combined with the firing
Raptor engines, cause the tail section to rotate under the nose, making the rocket
vertical. Sometime in the future, SpaceX might add hot gas thrusters to further aid in the
    rotation.

It is true that nuclear thermal rockets have an impressive performance. In addition to their specific impulse being up to three times that of chemical rockets, they can produce comparable amounts of thrust and they can be modified to use a variety of propellants, from CO2 to ammonia.

In the future, these systems should reduce travel times in space, be able to move much larger payloads, and refuel with whatever fluid is available at their destination. This is why tech icon Mr. #ElonMusk is tryna convert his latest #SpaceX #Starship into a Nuclear one.

  • IT HAPPENED! Elon Musk FINALLY Reveals New Nuclear Starship 2021!

    8:31

The explorers of the past discovered new lands and founded colonies, many of which still exist today. Elon Musk has the same spirit of exploration, but his target is literally out of the world! He wants to form a settlement on an entirely different planet, Mars! One problem he has is that going to Mars will take you five months at the shortest, which to Musk is just too long! However, he has found an ingenious way to cut the trip to just 100 days or even less! What is this method, and how does it work?
Join us as we dive into SpaceX Nuclear Starship that Is Finally Happening!
If you are planning a trip to Mars, you have better start with how you will cover the vast space between Earth and the Red Planet. Even if you choose the best time to take off, which comes around once in a while when the two planets align the most, you will spend the next five months in transit as you cover millions of miles! Space is massive, and anywhere you are going is far! Humanity has been making do with large fuel burning rockets when we head for space, but it has limited where we can go because we have to take into consideration the amount of energy required for the trips and the time it will take.
SpaceX is working on the Starship to take people to Mars, but while the current Starship can carry lots of cargo, it will not cut down the travel time significantly.
As Musk is aware, you don't want to spend five months between Earth and Mars. This is because there are so many risks with that! Astronauts on a trip to Mars would be exposed to very high levels of radiation which can cause serious long-term health problems such as cancer and sterility. As explorers going to populate a new territory, Musk wants them to arrive as healthy and fertile as possible! Radiation shielding can help, but it is extremely heavy, and the longer the mission, the more shielding is needed. A better way to reduce radiation exposure is to simply get where you are going quicker!
Also, the more time you spend in transit, the higher the chance of something going wrong! You could run out of fuel, for example, or a component breaks down! You also want to think of the problems with confining a hundred people to a space as small as the interior of a spacecraft! Emotions might flare and cause conflicts, jeopardizing the mission! And deep space is the last place you want something to go wrong because you are entirely on your own! So Elon Musk basically needs to find the shortest way to move people to Mars!
Even when the Starship is not transporting humans to Mars, it makes sense for space trips to be shorter. For example, during space exploration for science, it is important to get data from unmanned missions as soon as possible. Consider that it took Voyager-2 12 years just to reach Neptune, where it snapped some incredible photos as it flew by. If Voyager-2 had a faster propulsion system, astronomers could have had those photos and the information they contained years earlier, moving our knowledge of the universe forward faster!
Musk has indicated in the past that he is considering different options for powering spacecraft! For instance, he has tweeted about how nuclear powered rockets would be a great area of research for NASA! He has good reasons for this because nuclear systems are faster!

    Show this tweet:

But why is a nuclear powered Starship faster? To answer this question, let's look at the basics of how rockets work in space currently. Once you manage to escape the Earth's gravitational pull, you have three things to worry about: number one is thrust which is how fast a system can accelerate a ship. Number two is mass efficiency, which is how much thrust a system can produce for a given amount of fuel, and lastly, energy density is how much energy a given amount of fuel can produce.
The most common propulsion systems in use are chemical propulsion, regular fuel-burning rockets, and solar-powered electric propulsion systems.
While chemical propulsion systems provide a lot of thrust, chemical rockets aren't particularly efficient. This is because rocket fuel isn't that energy-dense. For instance, the Saturn V rocket that took astronauts to the Moon produced 35 million Newtons of force at liftoff and carried 950,000 gallons of fuel! While most of the fuel was used in getting the rocket into orbit, the limitation is that it takes a lot of heavy fuel to get anywhere.
The other option uses solar panels to generate thrust using electricity. The most common way to do this is to use an electrical field to accelerate ions, such as in the Hall thruster. These devices are commonly used to power satellites and can have more than five times higher mass efficiency than chemical systems. But they produce much less thrust, like about three Newtons, or only enough to accelerate a car from 0

NOT LAUNCHING! FAA Denied SpaceX's Plans for Starship's Orbital Launch In January
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) needs to delay its environmental review of SpaceX Starship orbital launches from Boca Chica, Texas.

The administration informed SpaceX on December 28 that they would be unable to meet the original December 31, 2021 deadline because of that Starship’s first orbital flight is pushed forward until March

Today we are talking about the FAA denial on completion of Starship orbital launch due to environmental review.

But before that we welcome you all to lift off. We post daily news from the world of space. If you enjoy our content make sure to subscribe to our channel to never miss out any updates.

The environmental review is a key requirement for obtaining an FAA launch license. However,  the FAA is delaying the Final report’s release until February 28. 2022. This is due to the number of comments on this specific Programmatic Environmental Assessment.

According to the FAA, the administration received more than 18,000 public comments on the draft version of the report released in September. SpaceX is working to respond to those public comments under FAA supervision.

However, neither SpaceX nor the FAA provided additional details about the analysis of the comments.

Elon Musk confirmed in a tweet that the delay would push Starship’s first orbital flight to at least March 22.

Delays like this are not unheard of for the FAA. In fact, an environmental review of the proposed launch site in Camden, Georgia, suffered several delays before the site was awarded its spaceport licence.

SpaceX did not provide additional information on the process or when the company would complete an orbital launch from the Boca Chica site once approved.

SpaceX continues work down in South Texas while this is all ongoing. They recently conducted a couple of cryogenic tests of Super Heavy booster 4, and Starship 20 could conduct a static fire as soon as today. In between these tests, work continues to prepare the launch site for orbital operations. In addition, there were reports of issues with the tank farm at the orbital launch site, and it is understood that SpaceX is working on corrections to these issues.

While this delay is disappointing, SpaceX is not prepared for its orbital launch attempt. The launch mount is still receiving attention while work continues on the launch tower and catch arms. Booster 4 still needs to have its own static fire tests too. However, the Final PEA is only part of the story. SpaceX will still need a launch license or an experimental launch permit to conduct the orbital launch.

    =======
Welcome back to Great SpaceX! It's been a long time since we've done a highlight on exciting news and developments taking place at Starbase. So we've got a lot of topics in today's episode.
First, we've got the latest updates on GSE-4’s test. Along with that, there are amazing pieces of information regarding the complete installation ‘aerocovers’ on Booster 4 (B4). And … there's more, but we’ll get to those burning topics later, don’t worry!
Without any further delays, let’s get started on today’s episode!

Let’s start at the beginning with the GSE-4 test!
Recently, SpaceX has just conducted a test on GSE test tank 4.1 at the orbital launch site.
Everything was looking good until 3:34 pm when the test tank failed to take all the pressure.
However, according to many sources, it was a Pressure Test to Failure.
If true, it can be said that the GSE test tank failed successfully.
    But what if it's not?
In that case, the test tank that just failed could be a sign of major problems with the Starship orbital launch pad tank farm.
And maybe this test was a push to help certify them?
However, the LOX & LN2 tanks are fine as they have been operational & holding liquid for a long time.
Thus, I am more inclined towards the former!!!
And if there is anything wrong with the whole stage-zero, I strongly believe that Musk and his team will act accordingly.
Just hope that Elon can talk about the pressure reached during this test.
Huge thanks to LabPadre for capturing these amazing videos!
Next, let's come with a piece of good news!!!
We spotted more progress made on the cargo door pathfinder by the low bay. More of the door has been cut, revealing the updated design for the cargo door.
Obviously, they distract us from the new Cargo door by closing the road and doing a test of GSE-4!!!
That is typical Starbase style! LOL!!!!
Anyway, we got a cargo door now.
    So, let's cheer!!!
SpaceX's GSE-4 Tank Exploded During Testing! Super Heavy Booster ‘aerocovers’ fully installed.

THE LAUNCH TOWER HAD PROBLEMS AFTER TESTING WITH BAGS FULL OF WATER
Not short of ideas or technological innovations, Elon Musk is also seriously considering using the Starship launch tower to recover, or rather “capture” the Super Heavy stage before it lands on Earth. It shuts off when it returns to the ground. An interesting idea, but it still has to be realistic.
Unlike the main floor in Falcon 9 Returning to Earth using its landing legs, the Super Heavy can be caught mid-flight, just a few feet off the ground! Two days ago, Elon Musk subscribed to Twitter Video showing the Starbase launch tower Construction At its location in Boca Chica, Texas. The height of this tower is 122 meters and has the nickname: “Mechazilla”. It has the peculiarity of having mechanical arms that can be closed or opened at different heights. They will be used as “clamps” to catchvery heavy floor before it makes landfall and hold it a few feet off the ground. These arms will also be able to rotate, which will allow it to reposition the platform on the launch pad. but that is not all. their great freedom in a movement It will also allow them to recover a file Starship Placed nearby so it can be attached to the Super Heavy.
The journey to Mars begins in the southernmost tip of Texas at the small Boca Chica Beach village where SpaceX is building their first interplanetary spaceport at the Starbase launch site. SpaceX founder Elon Musk calls the sandy region the ‘Gateway to Mars’ from where he envisions a fleet of hundreds of Starships blasting off to build the first settlement on the Martian surface.

The aerospace company is preparing to conduct the first orbital flight test of a Starship test vehicle that will enable engineers to speed up the spacecraft’s development. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is conducting an environmental assessment of the Starbase launch site that is set to be completed by February 28. When complete, SpaceX will apply for a flight license to launch the first Starship to orbit from Texas and land it off the coast of Kauai, Hawaii.

    ???? Subscribe -

Progress is picking up satisfactorily for the Starship’s development. Well, we may have exaggerated a little in the sense that it may not be satisfactory for the fast-living entrepreneur like Elon Musk. The Starship is set to go places, and it has to be continually improved to reach even further, and that’s exactly what Elon Musk is doing as he finally reveals the new 18m wide starship 2.0
You're undoubtedly aware that Starship will be a completely reusable orbital launch and reentry vehicle with a height of 120 meters (390 feet), 9 meters (30 feet) higher than the Saturn V. A Super Heavy booster and a Starship spacecraft make up the rocket's two stages. The Raptor and Raptor Vacuum engines power both stages, which feature bodies constructed of SAE 304L stainless steel. Since SpaceX produces Starships through operational testing, rather than testing each component individually, prototypes are flown directly. As a result, its design is flexible.

Subscribe now with all notifications on for more Starship Updates, SpaceX news and Space news!

SpaceX has taken Starbase’s rocket-catching launch tower ‘arms’ to new heights during the latest series of proof tests. That process began in earnest on January 4th, when SpaceX lifted, opened, and swung the tower’s building-sized arms for the first time. Four days later, SpaceX performed a variation on the first round of tests, again slowly lifting the assembly up the side of the launch tower and opening and closing the arms.

The most notable difference was the addition of several tandem swing tests, which hinted at more applied tests that were soon to come. SpaceX also performed some basic tests with a third Starship fueling arm higher up on the tower, very slowly swinging it towards where Starship would be standing. On Sunday afternoon, a third major round of testing kicked off.

This set of tests was considerably more focused than the prior two, suggesting that it was more of a simulation of the main purpose of the arms. Instead of lifting a few dozen feet and performing basic actuation and coordination tests, SpaceX simply lifted the arm assembly up along the tower’s exterior and didn’t stop.

What the heck is going on?
Chinese citizens lashed out online against billionaire Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Monday.
    Why did they do that?
Let’s find the answer in today’s episode of Great SpaceX!

China began constructing the space station in April with the launch of Tianhe, the largest of its three modules. The station is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 after four crewed missions.
However, this space station was forced to take evasive action to avoid collision with satellites launched by Musk’s Starlink program.
According to a document submitted by China earlier this month to the U.N.’s space agency, the satellites from Starlink Internet Services, a division of Musk’s SpaceX aerospace company, had two “close encounters” with the Chinese space station on July 1 and Oct. 21.
Thus, as China said in a document published on the website of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, “for safety reasons, the China Space Station implemented preventive collision avoidance control”.

  • Elon Musk: New SPACEX Updates for 2022

    8:27

Elon Musk: New SPACEX Updates for 2022

SpaceX will start in 2022 with their most ambitious endeavor yet, putting a spacecraft into orbit and returning safely to Earth. By the end of 2022, it will have been done more than once to prove a point, with a launch and landing frequency of once every two weeks. There is a lot to do in that short amount of time, but if it pays off, SpaceX will be able to do pretty much anything they want in space— fly to the moon, fly to Mars, put a Cybertruck on the surface of Europa, and so on. The potential of SpaceX in the coming years is so far beyond anything we have ever seen before; it is almost like science fiction come true.

In this video, we will see why SpaceX is capable to overcome humanity’s single greatest obstacle and make life multi-planetary.

In the Q&A session with Elon Musk at the CEO Council Summit, Elon Musk has been treading a fine line between making people excited about the future and conceding that this undertaking will be difficult. Elon answered to a query about the progress of the spacecraft. Starship is a hard, hard, hard, hard project, he said, because it aims to be a fully reusable super heavy lift rocket that can not only deliver massive amounts of payload to Earth's orbit but also to other planets in our solar system, and even transport large crews of people, preferably 20, to the moon and mars, and return them home—all with a two-stage rocket that is 100 percent reusable with no refurbishment time in between. He came to the conclusion that the project is absurdly complex, even questioning whether they can complete it. He also confesses that for now, spaceship is absorbing more mental energy than anything else.

Elon is taking this very seriously. In fact, in late November, a highly scathing communication from him to the SpaceX team was leaked. In his note, he stated that the company's raptor engine manufacturing was in jeopardy, and he predicted the worst, presuming SpaceX can figure out how to produce a significant supply of trustworthy engines. If we don't accomplish a Starship flight rate of once every two weeks next year, we face a genuine risk of bankruptcy, Elon Musk said. The raptors are so important to the starships because the very heavy booster that launches the ships into space with its 100-ton cargo requires 33 of these engines to attain maximum capacity, plus six more on the second stage of the starship. As to our knowledge, a few of explosive failures are possible before SpaceX can successfully land both the launcher and the ship. Hundreds of raptors could be scrapped if the process is as tough as Elon has predicted. To be completely reusable, a starship must be enormous in size. As a result, SpaceX will require a large number of engines to support the starship's massive size.

  • Elon Musk Shares Video Of Spacex Starbase Starship Launch Tower Drone To Catch Booster 5

    8:05

Elon Musk Shares Video Of Spacex Starbase Starship Launch Tower Drone To Catch Booster 5
SpaceX boss Elon Musk has offered a closer look at the apparatus that will be used to launch — and, more interestingly, catch its next-generation Super Heavy rocket.

In what appears to be a drone video tweeted by Musk on Sunday, we see the top of the launch-and-landing tower as well as the clamp-like arms that will catch the first-stage booster when it comes in to land after deploying the second-stage Starship to space.
Catching the booster will allow SpaceX to use the vehicle again, following in the footsteps of SpaceX’s workhorse Falcon 9 boosters that have been reused in multiple missions in recent years.

An animation created by C-bass Production toward the end of last year offers a clearer idea of how Super Heavy is expected to launch and land once the system has been fully developed.
As the video shows, the plan is for the Super Heavy booster to return to a specific spot between two clamps that will then close up and stabilize the rocket before it reaches the ground. The clamps would then slide down the launch tower to gently place the rocket back on the ground.
Musk revealed the plan to catch Super Heavy in late 2020, saying the procedure would save the company the cost of building landing legs for the rocket. Getting rid of the legs would also reduce the booster’s weight, which would mean less fuel and/or bigger payloads.

He added that bringing the booster back to the launch tower would mean that eventually the vehicle could be ready for another flight “in under and an hour.”

Elon Musk, Artificial Gravity & Starship

???????? ✅ Subscribe now for more video on Elon Musk, SpaceX & Tesla @Future District

The past two years have taught us as human beings that extinction threats are not only from asteroids that hit the dinosaurs that inhabited the earth before us. Manz visionaries have this in mind and Elon is among them. He has taken it upon himself to colonize mars and safeguard the human race with a second home. His life’s work will depend on his greatest creation, the starship. It can carry a hundred passengers or one hundred metric tons of cargo. The journey will last for months and with food, water, and air, gravity is also a necessity. Producing it artificially is a must if the short and long-term well-being of the astronauts is needed. What are the effects of microgravity? How can #SpaceX cater to this great need?
The video today will first go over the biological need for gravity for human beings. Then we will discuss the production of it artificially and all that is involved with it. The last part of the video will be about how there will be a promising future for the starship and humanity once this issue is resolved.
The earth generates 9.8 meters per second of gravitational force. Human beings have biological processes that have adapted to this default setting. Most importantly, the bones are affected by this. Diseases such as bone matter depletion are common in astronauts. The effects are pretty similar to osteoporosis. The density of the skeletal system decreases over time and it leads to the inability to perform when backing on earth.
Astronauts are assigned different kinds of exercises that help keep the effects to a minimum. Upon returning, they also undergo several procedures and intense care which also reverses the impact which comes with long periods of exposure. Other bodily processes such as the purification of blood through kidneys are also hampered. This can increase the chances of a kidney stone appearing.
Opposite to what Hollywood movies tend to show, astronauts aren't even able to walk by themselves when they return from space missions. They are needing help in getting out of the suites and then undergo a series of procedures. Films show us that people spend huge amounts of time in spacecraft and then just walk when they reach other planets. People like Musk wish that it was the case but it, unfortunately, isn’t.
Another thing that Hollywood shows is a greatly sized spaceship that has all the amenities for a long journey that can last up to months. During their stay, they exercise and do other things while being pulled to the ground just like they were here on earth. This is something that can have a lot of benefits if copied in real life. If the astronauts are given gravity, they can continue doing things like they would have done when at home. This way, they do not have to go through all the recovery processes.

The SpaceX chopsticks tower, one of the wildest engineering designs ever, finally comes to life!!!

Welcome back to SpaceX Fans daily news update! Don't forget to hit subscribe and turn on the notification feature to make sure that you won’t miss any interesting information about Elon Musk, SpaceX, or anything related to Space. Now let’s get back to today’s content.

Elon Musk just shared an amazing video with the caption: Starship launch & catch tower.
Now at the top of their travel, the Catching Arms have reached the necessary height to stack a Ship on top of Booster.
Honestly, this looks like a glitch in the Matrix!

The remarkable point at the end of the video is the white smoke rising from the orbital launch mount venting!!
And these are stellar photos from Labpadre that truly allow us to view the QD arm which has been extended, with all the scaffolding on the OLIT columns removed. SpaceX fired up each arm’s main hydraulic actuator and opened them about as wide as they’re able to move.
Somewhere after this testing, SpaceX will likely simulate catching rockets in a wide range of scenarios.
More ambitious, SpaceX may perform another fit test with Starship S20 and Super Heavy B4 – but this time using the arms to lift and install the stages.
We got the new Road Closure Scheduled for Wednesday, January 12, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. And for Thursday, January 13, and Friday, January 14, from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Any chance for a big test related to the catching arm? It's really really worth waiting!

Regardless of what happens next, we had a sigh of relief!
Congratulations to the SpaceX team! And it's time for us to look back at the hard process they went through in creating this amazing thing. Why exactly is the SpaceX catching arm considered an engineering marvel of the world?

The first arm was installed in late August 2021 was a lone structure designed to swing in; grab and stabilize Super Heavy with its claw; fuel and power Starship; and quickly detach and swing away from the rocket during launch. A month and a half later, SpaceX began installing a much larger pair of more complex arms in mid-October. Unlike the Starship quick-disconnect (QD) arm, the pair of arms that followed were almost unlike anything built as part of another rocket launch complex.

  • SpaceX & Elon Revealed That Launch Tower Is now Ready For Lifting Super Heavy Booster 4 & Testing

    4:21

  • Why dont rocket engines melt? How engineers keep engines cool

    26:31

Rocket engines need to produce heat to function, after all, their only real purpose is to convert the chemical energy in the propellant into pressure and heat so they can produce thrust.

And that brings up an obvious question! How in the heck do engines survive this heat? How did rocket scientists figure out how to keep an engine running continuously while harboring combustion inside it that’s hot enough to melt the very walls that are containing it?!

Today we’re going to talk about the tricks engineers employ to keep rocket engines from melting. We’ll go over ablative cooling, regenerative cooling, film cooling, radiative cooling, heat sinks, and fuel to oxidizer ratios and show you some awesome examples of each.

Elon Musk said on Wednesday that SpaceX is planning to launch its Starship spaceship into orbit for the first time in early 2022, but cautioned that the initial attempt might not be a success.

SpaceX will carry out tests in December, ahead of Starship's first orbital flight in January, Musk said during a video call with members of the National Academy of Sciences.

There's a lot of risk associated with this first launch, so I would not say that it is likely to be successful, but we'll make a lot of progress, he said.

Musk said in the video call that he was confident that Starship would successfully reach orbit in 2022.

I'm not sure we'll get there on the first attempt, but I'm comfortable we'll get there next year, he said later in the call.

The billionaire said in the call that he expects SpaceX will carry out a dozen or more orbital test flights with Starship next year.

The January date is later than SpaceX officials previously predicted.

Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX's president and COO, said at a conference in June that the company was shooting for July for Starship's first orbital mission. Musk also tweeted that the launch would be in July.

In October, Musk tweeted that the launch date was scheduled for November, depending on regulatory approvals.

The Federal Aviation Administration is still carrying out environmental reviews at SpaceX's launch site in Boca Chica, Texas, but said it should be finished by the end of 2021.

In the call, Musk said that SpaceX's launch pad and launch tower in Boca Chica will be completed later this month.

Starship will launch from South Texas and splash down off the coast of Hawaii as part of its 90-minute orbital test flight, according to the company's FCC filing in May.

Launching on Falcon Heavy will get us on orbit months faster, allowing us to serve customers in Alaska that much sooner, Astranis CEO John Gedmark said in a statement. This is a huge win for our customers in Alaska.

The Alaska-serving satellite will be just the beginning for Astranis, if all goes according to plan.

By owning and operating its satellites and offering them to customers as a turnkey solution, Astranis is able to provide bandwidth-as-a-service and unlock previously unreachable markets, representatives of the San Francisco-based company wrote in the same statement. This allows Astranis to launch small, dedicated satellites for small and medium-sized countries, Fortune 500 companies, existing satellite operators and other customers.

The 880-pound (400 kilograms) Astranis satellite will share space on the Falcon Heavy with another communications craft — Viasat-3, which will be operated by fellow California company Viasat.

Falcon Heavy has just three launches under its belt to date, but it's poised to get quite a workout over the coming months. The rocket is scheduled to launch two classified missions for the U.S. Space Force by early 2022, the first of which will lift off next month. The Viasat-3/Astranis flight will follow shortly thereafter. And Falcon Heavy's manifest also includes NASA's Psyche asteroid mission, which is slated to launch next August.

The rocket will also fly some other high-profile missions in the near future, including NASA's ice-hunting VIPER moon rover in 2023 and Europa Clipper probe in 2024.

The Falcon Heavy consists of three modified, strapped-together Falcon 9 first stages. The central core is topped by a second stage, which carries the payload. Like the workhorse Falcon 9, the Falcon Heavy is partially reusable; all three first stages are designed to return to Earth, make vertical, powered landings, and fly again.

The Falcon Heavy is a large cargo-lifting rocket developed by private spaceflight company SpaceX. When it launched on its maiden voyage on Feb. 6, 2018, the rocket was the most powerful booster in operation at that time. (The Saturn V, which launched the Apollo moon missions, was the most powerful ever.)

On that debut test flight, the Falcon Heavy met almost all of its major objectives, including (notably) flying company founder and CEO Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster, carrying a mannequin named Starman, to space.

More flights are planned for later in 2018 as the company begins to seek out more customers for the Falcon Heavy. Eventually, perhaps by 2020, Musk plans to use the experience in developing the Falcon Heavy to make an even bigger rocket, named the Big Falcon Rocket (BFR), for Mars exploration.

  • LIVE Chopsticks Testing Moving Lifting SpaceX Starbase Pro Camera Super Zoom 1080p60 WOW!!

    5:28:11

LIVE at SpaceX Starbase. Professional Camera with Super Zoom 1080p. Please consider joining my YouTube membership or Patreon membership to help support my work and keep me going. I'm using top of the line gear and it's very pricey to run and maintain. I can only afford to do this part time for now, but with more support, I can cover more days and longer hrs when I can stream. I have been covering Starbase since March 12th 2021 and plan to spend the rest of my life here. Thanks so much!

Can also PayPal donate at: operator@starshipgazer.com

Camera: Canon R5 with 100-500mm RF lens plus extenders and a couple other lenses.

I am just a one man show. I apologize if I miss your comments. I have to alternate between checking comments and operating the camera.

Subscribe and turn on notifications to get alerts for my future live streams.

This is live TV, anything can and does happen. :)

I'm always open to comments and suggestions for improvement. Please do let me know.

From Copycat to SpaceX Partner What are Pentagon & Elon Musk Doing!?
SpaceX and the Pentagon just signed a contract to jointly develop a new rocket that can launch into space and deliver up to 80 tons of cargo and weaponry anywhere in the world — in just one hour.

Tests on the rocket are expected to begin as early as next year, Business Insider reports. It’s expected to shuttle weapons around the world 15 times faster than existing aircraft, like the US C-17 Globemaster.

“Think about moving the equivalent of a C-17 payload anywhere on the globe in less than an hour,” General Stephen Lyons, head of US Transportation Command said at a Wednesday conference.

Huge thanks to all these amazing SpaceX Artists. Please follow them and support them through Payoneer and Twitter.
