Sherwood Schwartz's classic sitcom The Brady Bunch was about a couple of single parents, each with a trio of children, that come together to form a blended family. It was a relatively novel concept for a television show at the time.

The kid's problems were pretty mundane, but the way that their parents assisted them in finding a solution to their issues and to always do the just thing made the Brady's the quintessential family that every kid back then wished they were a member of.

The Brady Bunch was scorned by critics and was canceled after just five seasons and 117 episodes. But the series found a second wind in syndication. It was especially popular with the younger crowd and became a cultural touchstone that continues to be significant to this day.

It produced countless spin-offs included a cartoon, a variety show, and a reboot series about Marcia and Jan becoming brides.

It was a show that was somehow both of its time and timeless. It will continue to teach valuable lessons and warm hearts for many years to come. Unfortunately, some of the original castmates from the iconic series are no longer with us.

Growing up on The Brady Bunch might seem idyllic to some: the fame, the money, and an instant set of friends amongst the cast. In fact, being a Brady teenager was just as complicated as being a regular teen, especially in the love department.

Whether it was Marcia or Greg, Bobby or Cindy, the on-screen siblings (and sometimes even their TV parents) were constantly hooking up, sometimes even during filming! It was well known to the other actors that Mike Lookinland and Susan Olsen (Greg and Cindy Brady) used The Brady Bunch dog’s kennel as their own personal love nest, nipping off between takes to hide inside and make out.

The crew also had a hard time filming a seemingly innocent attic scene between Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady) and Barry Williams (Greg Brady) because the two kept getting hot and heavy under the bedsheets. These two love birds also shared a kiss on the beach during the few episodes filmed in Hawaii. Off-set, Christopher Knight, who played Peter Brady, dated Eve Plumb (Jan Brady) for a while until they were caught doing the dirty by police in the back of Knight’s pickup truck. The spark of romance fizzled after the fizz knocked on the window.

The Brady Bunch dalliances weren’t limited to the kids, either. Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady, had a massive crush on his TV mom, Florence Henderson (Carol Brady). In fact, the two of them even went out on a dinner date, despite the twenty-year age gap. Because Williams was only 16, his brother tagged along to chaperon the get-together. There were way more secretive liaisons on set, but you’re going to have to watch the video to learn more about them! After you get to the end, be sure to like this video and share it with anyone else you know who’s a The Brady Bunch fan. And don’t forget to subscribe to Facts Verse if you haven’t already.

  • Why Eve Plumb is Our Favorite Brady Bunch Member

People often made the same mistake with The Beatles, especially during their initial years. However, Lloyd J. Schwartz, who was a producer on The Brady Bunch, never shied from accepting that though all the actors were extremely talented, there was something different about Eve Plumb.

While her co-stars Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, Maureen McCormick, Mike Lookinland, and Susan Olsen were all very talented in their own ways, the fact that Eve came from an entertainment background allowed her to stand apart from others in every scene. Eve's sister was an established actress and her father was a music producer. Therefore, she came with an innate understanding of the entertainment world. She portrayed the middle-child syndrome with such ease and finesse that the viewers soon began to accept her as their favorite. After all, it has been 46 years since The Brady Bunch went off the air and many of us clearly remember Jan Brady and Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!

We agree that the entire cast of the show was undeniably very talented, but Eve Plumb certainly is our favorite Brady Bunch member. Why? We have our reasons. She portrayed the agony of being a middle child perfectly well. She impressed us with her choice of the first film. She inspired a band's name. And she is somehow also connected to the Batman theme. In this video, we tell you why is Eve Plumb our favorite Brady Bunch member.

Eve Aline Plumb was born to Flora June and Neely Plumb on April 29, 1958. Born in Southern California, Plumb entered the entertainment world at the young age of 7 and did guest appearances in television shows like The Big Valley. However, she got her big break at the age of 11 when she was chosen to play the middle daughter Jan Brady on The Brady Bunch. The series revolved around a blended family and six children and was quite popular. After the series ended in 1974, Eve Plumb decided to foray into serious acting and therefore, took on the role of a prostitute in the film Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway. Plumb reprised her role as Jan Brady on several The Brady Bunch reunions and films. She even acted in several films. However, she will always be foremostly remembered for her portrayal of Jan Brady.

In fact, she would have a tremendous amount of disdain for the designation for the longest time. To her credit, it must be incredibly difficult to grow up with everyone thinking that you are this little innocent squeaky-clean girl that they know from that super famous TV show.

To some degree, that constant correlation was a bit of prison for Susan. She didn't feel like she was very connected to the character she played on screen and people were constantly coming up to her and wanting to talk about it. It's bound to become overwhelming at some point when people see the fictional character you played and not see the real you that you are trying to be.

She was rebellious. She liked punk rock. Susan wasn't the little Cindy that everyone remembered. Even after she grew out of her teenage angst and anti-authoritarianism. She really wanted to be seen as an artist. She was into the visual arts but she was also a talented singer.

She would learn to embrace her Brady-dom however. She knew it was the best way for her to get her foot in the door. If she really wanted to succeed at her passions and dreams then she would have to learn how to navigate the complex web of the entertainment industry. You have to know people to get ahead. It's exceptionally helpful for your pursuits when everyone already knows you.

Susan Olsen may have once resented having to be on a show that focused on family and American values, but it would become one of her proudest accomplishments later on. She developed a deep respect for the fact that the Brady's helped so many people that had relatively ineffective, toxic, or non-existent families to have a connection with something that could guide them through their formative years.

Break out the double knits and roll out the Astroturf, because The Bunch is back in a groovy, good-time romp for all ages (Bonnie Churchill, National News Syndicate). Mike (Gary Cole) and Carol (Shelley Long) have just one week to come up with $20,000 in back taxes or they'll lose their house to a scheming neighbour (Michael McKean). To make matters worse, Marcia gets a swollen nose on date night, Cindy's addicted to tattling, and Jan's hearing a psychotic inner voice crying Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! Of course, these are the Bradys, and when the kids enter a talent contest with a $20,000 purse, well, let's just say,It's A Sunshine Day! With appearances by Florence Henderson, Barry Williams, Ann B. The neighbors can't understand Cindy's (Olivia Hack) lisp and Dad (Gary Cole) gives Cindy advice about tattling.

    FILM DESCRIPTION:
The Brady Bunch Movie pays tribute to the 1970s TV show while poking gentle fun at it. The Brady family, led by father Mike (Gary Cole), still live in their suburban, split-level home and are still throwbacks to the era that spawned them. Eternally perky wife Carol (Shelley Long) is the perfect homemaker, while the kids' behavior is as wholesome as their loud, time-warp pastel clothes. Meanwhile, the greedy, selfish modern era swirls dangerously around them, embodied in next-door neighbor and real estate agent Ditmeyer (Michael McKean), who wants to buy the Bradys' property and turn the neighborhood into a giant mall. But no amount of money or prodding can persuade the Bradys to give up their home. Director Betty Thomas contrasts the overlit sitcom look of the Brady house interiors (faithfully recreated from the series) with real locations and natural grit for the modern L.A. scenes. The result is a satire that deftly spoofs the idea of staying true to old-fashioned values without ever passing judgment on those values.

  • Opening to The Brady Bunch Movie VHS

    11:36

Printed during the 25th week of 1995. The original sitcom family of the early 1970s is placed in a then-contemporary environment and a culture clash ensues from there. The original Bradys (except Eve Plumb, and the by-that-point deceased Robert Reed) make cameo appearances as the people the Bradys run into along the way. RuPaul, Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, and Peter Tork are also seen for a portion of this off-beat adaptation of the series, which ran from 1969-74 on ABC-TV.

NOTE: The tape is damaged at the beginning. But even it knows people did this opening a lot.
