One Year Cycling the World | a Bicycle Touring Short Film

Back in 2018 we started our World Cycling Tour to the Far East. We were incredibly exited to go but also a bit anxious to be leaving home for possibly two years or more. With many wonderful encounters along the way, amazing landscapes, wild camping and cooking our own meals, we still missed our family and friend but discovered a world full of hospitality and wonders. This is the bicycle touring short film from our first year on the bike, cycling together towards the rising sun...

  • Look What Happens When a Huge Dam Is Opened!

    Mind Warehouse ►

Nature is an amazing force that has been maintaining order and harmony on our planet for millions of years. Even the most insignificant element of nature has its meaning and purpose.
Take, for example, rivers: they cross all existing continents and help people survive since prehistoric times. Rivers are a source of drinking water and food. Without them, it would be impossible to irrigate the land and carry people and goods from one settlement to another.
Nevertheless, in order to live safely near deep rivers, we have to make certain interventions. For example, since ancient times, people were building dams on the waterways to adjust the flow of water.
Today, we will tell you how the dams work and show you the terrifying consequences caused by mistakes in their design.

  • Deadliest Journeys - Congo’s trucks

    48:21

Five times bigger than France, third largest country in Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is, foremost, one of the world’s richest countries in raw materials. There’s cobalt, mainly used in mobile phones and the aeronautics industry, copper, zinc, gold and diamonds in astounding quantities. Our cameras focused on Katanga, a province in the south of the DRC, which has three quarters of the country’s wealth. We accompany Eugene, owner of a truck, laden to the top with goods, that must travel from Lubumbashi, the country’s economic capital, to his native city of Bukama, 400 miles to the north. The journey from Lubumbashi to Bukama takes four days. At the wheel is « the prince of the highway », answering to the name of Domingo, aided by three escorts: Elephant, Bijou and Maroquin. They cling onto the outside of the truck and are the driver’s eyes and ears throughout the journey. We accompanied them for the whole of the trip, a nightmare along almost totally unusable roads, an African remake of the « Wages of Fear » set against a background of organized looting of the country’s wealth by three principal countries: China, India and the USA. -

  • The Impossible Route: Death Valley

    1:41:07

The Impossible Route: Death Valley is a 7-day EPIC gravel cycling adventure over one of the hardest courses in the world. Two riders, Jeremiah Bishop and The Vegan Cyclist, attempt to ride bicycles along a well-established motorcycle course called “The California Backcountry Discovery Route (CABDR).

Using the Strava Route Builder ( ) the riders charted a 760-mile gravel course inspired by the CABDR. Their route starts in Yuma, Arizona, traverses the Mojave Desert and the heart of Death Valley, and finishes in the shadow of the Sierras. This course had never before been attempted on bicycles, Both JB and VC had to carry all their tools, food, and water from start to finish of each stage. Each day has its own unique hurdles to overcome, from cycling through sand to finding water. This film follows that story. This may be one of the most grueling weeks of gravel bicycle riding that has ever been captured on film. This is episode 1, season 2, of a cycling documentary series about finding the hardest multi-surface roads in the world.

Everyone has their own personal impossible route. It might be climbing a volcano or just finishing a single mile. The Impossible Route documentary series is all about capturing the story and the adventure of cyclists trying to accomplish what might be considered IMPOSSIBLE. This endeavor is not about racing; it’s about finding adventure, pushing the limit, and then going beyond what is thought to be possible.

The first Impossible Route expedition took place on Mauna Kea in 2020. There are four episodes planned for 2021. The ultimate goal is to grow this vision into a community for cyclists of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels who want to overcome THEIR Impossible Route.

    ///FAQs

Q: Did you have full SAG?
A: The rules we set for ourselves stated we could NOT take ANYTHING from the crew DURING the ride. But we can get anything from strangers along the road if they offered or we could buy supplies from a store. Problem is, no stores…ANYWHERE.

    Q: Why gravel bikes?
A: To see if it could be done! We each ran our own Canyon Grail for this expedition. I truly believe they were the FASTEST option, but boy was that sand deep! I recommend a motorcycle if you plan to do this route. Kidding, but you could try the Canyon Exceed.

Q: What tires did you run?
A: We ran IRC double cross, 42s in the rear and IRC MTB 2.0 tires in the front.

Q: How did you fuel on the bike?
A: It was EXTREMELY difficult to eat and drink while riding the gravel sections. But we had Flow Formulas in all of our bottles, gels, blocks, and burritos from chef Biju Thomas. We consumed around 4-5k calories each day while on the bike.

Q: What was in the bags?
A: Apidura supplied the bags and we loaded them down with as much water and food as possible. We also carried a spare tire, C02s, tools, and a satellite phone that never actually worked

    Q: Where did you sleep?
A: JB and VC slept in a tent every night except two. Two of the nights the whole crew got hotels.

Q: What was the gearing was used?
    A: VC ran a 1x 42 -10/50 Sram eagle and JB ran a 1x 34 - 10/34

Q: How hard was this REALLY? Don’t lie dude!
A: Whatever this looks like on film, it was 1,000,000 times harder in real life.

    Q: Can we donate?
A: I cant stress enough how much that helps (

    Q: Covid safety
A: The whole crew was tested before coming together, and most got tested after if they were traveling. Interacting with strangers was met with caution and the people were asked from a distance if we could approach. No guidelines were broken, rules were followed, and safety was had.

With over 161 miles of treacherous terrain ahead, “JB” and Tyler “Vegan Cyclist” Pearce point their Canyon Grail gravel bikes toward Furnace Creek, California, and turn up the heat.

Boreal to Barrenlands: Crossing Labrador is a documentary on an unprecedented canoe journey that takes four friends 670 kms through Labrador’s interior to cross three-ecosystems, two heights of land, and one entire province in 35 days.

Labrador is arguably one of the most remote, rugged, buggiest, and unforgiving landscapes Canada has to offer and with our fair share of obstacles, Boreal to Barrenlands was the most physically and mentally demanding thing any of our team has ever faced.

  • The Best Hike in Death Valley: Car Camping + Epic Hike to Telescope Peak

    11:05

If you're looking for the best hike in Death Valley, Telescope Peak has got to be it! Being the highest point in Death Valley, the summit offers views for hundreds of miles in all directions (to the highest and lowest points in the US - at the same time!). Plus, if you're aiming for a gorgeous sunrise on the trail, the Mahogany Flats Campground offers free car camping and tent camping right at the Telescope Peak trailhead on a first come first serve basis - definitely beats camping in Death Valley and driving two hours to the trailhead in the morning (and it's much cooler too!).

In today's episode, you get to follow along on the Cascade Gravel Grinder: a 3-day omnium gravel event. Spoiler, I win all 3 days.
And some post-race celebrations including shot-gunning a beer. Warning, there are unbeeped curse words in today's episode. For a beeped version, go check out Curtis White's channel. Because my computer and my patience just can't handle that fine-tuning of audio editing. Also it's mostly Tinder Guy at the end. Ironically he accuses ME of cursing a lot. Lulz.

  • FULL MOVIE: Standing with Stones - an epic journey through stone age Britain & Ireland

    2:15:14

Over two years in the making, Standing with Stones is a remarkable feature length documentary film that takes the viewer on an epic journey of discovery, uncovering the true extent and variety of megalithic Britain and Ireland.

Featuring 100 of the most significant megalithic monuments in England, Wales, Ireland, N. Ireland & Scotland, the adventure starts near Land's End in Cornwall and ends out on the Scottish isles, on Orkney, at the Tomb of the Eagles.

✒️ I loved every single minute of this! There was no filter of time. You didn't repeat information four times as if I was not paying attention. You showed sites I've never seen in other documentaries. I just loved all of it. Thank you so very much for doing it and putting it here where I can see the entire thing.

✒️ The sensitivity shown when first walking through the homes of Skara Brae made me cry. The whole documentary was filled with respect. Thank you.

✒️ I'm 37, and I've been watching documentaries for all my life. This is the best one yet. The dedication and passion for the subject is great. The personal approach, yet scholarly quality is even greater. Thanks.

    MAKING OF THE FILM:
    MORE CONTENT:
UPDATES TO THE 'PETRIFIED TREE' SEQUENCE:

It was back in 1999 that I first approached Michael Bott with the idea of making a documentary series on little-known aspects of one of my other passions: Natural History. I was already familiar with Michael’s work. He had made a couple of films with my father, Henry Lincoln, and his impressive talent made the normally painstaking decision of who to approach, a complete no-brainer. Michael loved the idea but he very sensibly suggested that, as this was such a massive project, it would be more sensible to kick off with something else. Something we were both familiar with and could do more easily, to see how well we worked together. Little did we suspect, how an intended ‘interim’ project would become such a life-changing experience.

Michael has been enthralled by ancient sites since childhood, and for a number of years I had been leading trips and walks to ancient sites in Britain and abroad, so the decision was easy.

“Why don’t we make a pilot for a documentary about standing stones?” said Mike.

    “Great idea.” I replied.

“Excellent” he said, “You write it then.”

And so a monster was spawned.

  • Shorten The Divide | A Journey Along The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route

    45:47

The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route is the world's longest mountain bike route. Two friends, Cam Macdougall and Geoff Livingston took on the challenge to ride the entire route in under 30 days to show the power of nature and what it can do for the mind, all while raising money for The Take A Hike Foundation to help at-risk youth get an education and help them along the right path to live their own lives full of adventure and excitement.

  • Lets Get Unbroken

    14:32

At the very end of the Impossible Route, I tried to jump a Harley backwards over a pit of fire blindfolded and broke part of my femur. So this short daily vlog series is to show the rebuild of my body. I need to ride more but I need my body to be functional first.

So we are working with Dr. Tim Woo from Socal Bike PT to correct all the biomechanical issues I developed from the broken femur. We are working on flexibility, strength, and riding technique.

  • Finally back on gravel

    10:53

This is a daily vlog series where I attempt to fix myself from a broken grater trochanter of my femur. This camp has included physical Therapy, bike fitting, and technique riding.

This is our last day with Tim so we made the most of it. He took us on an epic gravel ride with almost 5k feet of climbing and awesome views of smog, I mean LA. I give you a little sneak peak into what we are working on for a new product for the Ride Bikes Clothing Company and I show you what I am getting my wife for Mothers Day and her birthday. If you follow me you know that I am the worst at getting gifts for her so let me know if you think she will like it.

I end it with my last session with Tim in which he explains why sports tape is important and how to use it along with one more question for anyone dealing with a sports injury.

If you have stuck around for these I appreciate you. Dealing with a sports injury is hard mentally and physically and I hope I showed you a couple things you can do to get back on the bike. Tim is an amazing tool and he is happy to help anyone with questions or an injury of their own so you can get back out there and ride.

Reviews: I'll readily admit I knew very little about the digital currency Bitcoin before picking up this documentary, directed by David Foox, at my local library.

I believe the film offers a basic look at Bitcoin's history, how it works, its past scandals and associations with the dark web, but also its future as its technology and uses today are now linked to a number of major corporations around the globe.

For those like myself that know little about this digital currency but like to learn new things, I can easily recommend this doc. Looks like there's a Part 2 Integration and Regulation scheduled for release which should be a good addition to what was left open or not covered in Part 1. Written by larrys3 on IMDb.com

This Documentary is excellent, it made me even more excited about the future of Bitcoin. Written by sashahodder on IMDb.com

    1:04

???? Title: BITCOIN: THE END OF MONEY AS WE KNOW IT
???? Description: Bitcoin: The End Of Money As We Know It traces the history of money from the bartering societies of the ancient world to the trading floors of Wall St. The documentary exposes the practices of central banks and the dubious financial actors who brought the world to its knees in the last crisis. It highlights the Government influence on the money creation process and how it causes inflation. Moreover, this film explains how most money we use today is created out of thin air by banks when they create debt. Epic in scope, this film examines the patterns of technological innovation and questions everything you thought you knew about money. Is Bitcoin an alternative to national currencies backed by debt? Will Bitcoin and cryptocurrency spark a revolution in how we use money peer to peer? Is it a gift to criminals? Or is it the next bubble waiting to burst? If you trust in your money just as it is - this film has news for you. . #documentary #adventure #crime

  • Christmas Island - Island Life E03 - The Secrets of Nature

    50:01

Christmas Island is an Australian-owned territory, yet it lies closer to the Indonesian island of Java. The remote oceanic island is rich with wildlife. It is home to more species of crabs than any other island, including enormous robber crabs, and is one of the most important sea-bird breeding colonies in the world.

It is also an island in crisis.

Christmas Island is internationally famous for the spectacular annual migration of sixty million red land crabs, from the forest to the ocean to mate and spawn. These red crabs are currently facing an insidious biological invasion of the very worst kind. Super-colonies of yellow crazy ants, originating from Africa, are multiplying at an enormous rate, already wiping out an estimated fifteen million red crabs.

Structured around the crabs’ annual November migration, this film documents the dramatic discovery by scientists and island rangers of the crazy ant catastrophe.

As the red crabs make their epic journey from the rain forest on the top plateau of the island, down through areas of human settlement, across roads where they dodge huge phosphate carrying trucks, the film will introduce the audience to the surreal situations which occur when humans share an island with millions of crabs.

It also introduces characters who have been studying the red crabs of Christmas Island for decades and who are devastated by the crab carnage created by the yellow crazy ants.

It’s difficult to predict how far crazy ants will spread across the island. The future looks bleak but red crabs are resilient and only time will tell.

  • Slab City of dreams and tortured souls - A drive through The Last Free Place.

    6:10

I was looking for a place to camp for the night so I decided to scout out a spot in Slab City. This is video I took on the evening of May 1st 2021 during the scouting run and video of the following morning. My experience did not disappoint as I was greeted with an immediate feeling of lawlessness and disorder. The feeling you would expect when there are no rules. On the entrance road, a man was having a vigorous workout off the side of his trailer while wearing a rubber mask of what I'm guessing was a former president. Soon after, I drove past a woman who put out her thumb to hitchhike and asked if I could kindly bury her in a hole and run her over with my car. I did not oblige. The sunset was beautiful as paragliders flew over Salvation Mountain and as darkness set in, the constant roar of fighter jets that you can hear but not see, finally quieted down. Things were pretty quiet after dark except for two sheriffs having to come in to remedy a domestic dispute, that conveniently was happening right next to my camp, in the form of two drunk women talking to one another in elevated voice using their best 5th grade sentence structure rules but without the coherence you would expect from someone trying to communicate a point. Overall, I give it all 5 stars and will definitely visit again.

Thanks to this guy for the trip hop

I was born a South African…a living, breathing testament to all of my parent’s hopes and dreams for the future. Whenever I come back here, I am reconnected with the core of who I am. Over the years, this country has fed my soul like the rain nourishes a plant’s roots. But, as time goes on, coming back here only gets harder. Things have happened here that I can’t understand...that I can’t explain. As a journalist, I’ve always been obsessed with understanding people and why they do the things they do. I am a storyteller, but these are stories I wish I didn’t have to tell. My cousin was murdered for his car. My father’s brother, my uncle, was murdered for...for what I don’t know. I want to find a way for them to be remembered for their lives and not their deaths. I want to find a way through this pain, so that this place can nurture us all once again.

My name is Natasha Jones, I’m a broadcast journalist and writer. Growing up, I always knew my dad was a wild adventurer. From my first memories of him I knew he was unstoppable. He didn’t believe in impossibilities and he tested himself in every way. I was the only kid I knew whose dad slept in an oxygen deprivation tent to prepare for mountain climbs. I was the only kid I knew whose dad was in the newspapers and on tv for cycling crazy distances in record-breaking time. More importantly than all of that, I was the only kid I knew whose father showed them life could be limitless.

He showed me that in every way, from being the oldest Canadian to reach the summit of Mt. Everest to cycling across both North and South America in 139 days. He’s climbed the highest mountains on every continent, lost his big toes and thumbs to frostbite and almost died in the jungles of Indonesia, and yet, he still pushes forward. In his heart of hearts, I knew one of his dreams was to cycle across Africa, something he wished he could do with his older brother Nico. When Nico was murdered, that dream morphed into something much more profound. It would go beyond the simplicity of a physical adventure and we would turn it into a way of coping with the loss that had splintered so many lives in so many ways.

The goal is to cycle from the most southern point in South Africa, Cape L’Agulhas, to Cairo, Egypt. Through Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan. This cross-Africa journey will profile Dr. Botha’s struggle to let go of his murdered brother, Nico Botha and my journey to come to peace with my cousin, Olwyn Cowley's killers. Working with filmmaker, Ryan Jones, we will find stories of hope, and document what darkness and light others are going through.

This will be the first time I’ve ever joined my father on one of his adventures. He and I are alike in many ways but differ profoundly in others. He is a self-described impatient person. I am, in his words, too patient. Both a bit stubborn with our own ideas of adventure, we had no idea what to expect.

At the end of this journey, I will interview the man who murdered my cousin… and forgive him.

This is The Unjust & Us… This is a love letter to your killer.

  • Bitcoin - The End of Money As We Know It | Award-Wining Full Movie - english

    1:04

Whatever Bitcoin may be; most people do not yet understand what this controversial and influential innovation is about and how it works. This documentary answers these questions.

Bitcoin: The End Of Money As We Know It traces the history of money from the bartering societies of the ancient world to the trading floors of Wall St.
