  • Worlds Biggest Cave Discovered in Vietnam - Full Documentary

    46:09

Breathtaking pictures show the world's largest cave in Vietnam which has its own climate and CLOUDS. The spectacular Han Son Doong cave in Vietnam is so gigantic it could fit a 40-storey skyscraper within its walls.Tours are limited to 450 visitors each year in a bid to create a sustainable future for its vast caverns and plant-life
With the eerie green glow inside the mystical, echoing cavern, Vietnam's Han Son Doong cave looks like it could be on the edge of the world. The huge cave - large enough to fit a 40-storey skyscraper - is so massive that it has its own climate, and clouds even form inside it.
At more than 200m high, 150m wide and 5km long, the Hang Son Doong cave in Vietnam is so big it has its own river, jungle and climate. Australian photographer John Spies, 59, spent a week photographing the natural wonder of the cave system. With ceilings towering over 200 metres high in places, the cave is a humbling and belittling experience, said John, who has lived in Thailand since 1977 and runs the Cave Lodge guesthouse

It's not a trip for the faint-hearted - it takes a half day trek through a stunning jungle peppered with butterflies and a journey through knee deep rivers to finally get to the entrance of the colossal cave.
Adventurous explorers must also pass through the third largest cave in the world, Hang Ev cave - used as a location for the Peter Pan blockbuster.

With a total measured volume of 38.5 million cubic metres, this comfortably surpasses Deer Cave in Malaysia, which was considered to be the previous record holder. Stalagmites up to 80m high have also been surveyed, the tallest ever encountered.

Less people have seen the inside of Hang Son Doong than have stood on the summit of Mount Everest.

  • Divers discover 215-mile-long cave in Mexico full of Mayan relics

    3:18

A group of divers have connected two underwater caverns in eastern Mexico to reveal what is believed to be the biggest flooded cave on the planet, a discovery that could help shed new light on the ancient Maya civilisation.

The Gran Acuifero Maya, (GAM) a project dedicated to the study and preservation of the subterranean waters of the Yucatan peninsula, said the 347 kilometre- (216 mile-) cave was identified after months of exploring a maze of underwater channels.

Near the beach resort of Tulum, the group found that the cave system known as Sac Actun, once measured at 263 km (163 miles), communicated with the 83 km- (52 km-) Dos Ojos system, the GAM said in a statement. For that reason, Sac Actun now absorbs Dos Ojos.

The Yucatan peninsula of Mexico is studded with monumental relics of the Maya people, whose cities drew upon an extensive network of sinkholes linked to subterranean waters known as cenotes.

Some cenotes acquired particular religious significance to the Maya, whose descendants continue to inhabit the region.

  • The biggest underwater cave on Earth

    59

Researchers just found the world's largest underwater cave. Inside, they found ancient artifacts and the bones of extinct creatures.

Diving off the coast of Tulum, Mexico, scientists found a 347-kilometer passage linking what were previously thought to be two separate caves. Filled with artifacts from early Mexican settlements, it's the world’s longest known underwater system.

  • Inside The Longest Cave in the World: Mammoth Cave

    15:02

Inside The Longest Cave in the World: Mammoth Cave (Domes & Dripstones Tour) - Mammoth cave is the longest cave in the world. Even if you combine the 2nd longest and the 3rd longest caves in the world, Mammoth cave would still be longer.

There are 400 miles of explored tunnels in Mammoth Cave and they believe 200 more miles of tunnels are yet to be discovered. With this, there is no shortage of tours for this cave.

We took the Domes and Dripstones tour. This is not an easy tour to do. This was rated moderate due to the number of steps involved to get down 250 feet below sea level. There are 500 steps. There was also a 4-mile bus ride we had to take to take us to the entrance of the cave. The entrance was in a giant sink hole.

In this video, you can hear the Park ranger narrating about the cave. We hope you learn something too. One of the problems the cave is experiencing is the algae/pollution that we as tourists bring in the cave. We are altering the food source of the animals and insects inside the cave. The park service is trying to eliminate this by using a different type or light and trying to clean them.

We understand that the video is a bit dark, but we hope that you still get to see some of the formations (stalactites and stalagmites and columns) that we saw down there, such as the frozen niagara.

    WHO ARE WE?

We, Irwin and Victorina, have decided to quit our jobs, sell everything we have and go on an epic road trip of visiting all U.S. National Parks! Follow our journey - from letting go of our material possessions, preparing for the extended camping trip, and even the mistakes, joys, doubts and adventures we make along the way! We hope to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of Planet Earth.

Adventure begins in Feb 2017. We estimate this road trip will take us approximately 12 to 16 months. We know we will some amazing places and meet a lot of interesting people.

If you have an idea or suggestions for us for places to visit along the way, feel free to contact us!

NEW VIDEOS every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. If we miss a day, it is probably because we had no phone signal inside the park or we couldn't find any wifi access. If this is the case, we will upload our video as soon as we get any phone signal.

    Story Source :

It was a balmy April day in Vietnam and Hồ Khanh had taken some time to explore the jungles near his home. He was surrounded by the sounds of bird calls and buzzing insects but he overhead something unusual over the din of the jungle, the sound of wind whistling through something.

What Hồ Khanh was about to discover, was perhaps the most significant geographic discovery of the past 50 years….

Under World’s Deepest Cave, These Divers Found Something Even Greater…

Gran Acuifero Maya (GAM), a subaquatic exploration team, had been working to find something for over a decade, and on January 10, 2018, their search was over. The team discovered two underwater caverns in Tulum, Mexico that are interconnected. Together, the two systems make up the world’s largest underwater cave. But this find was not an easy task.

  • The Cave with Its Own Ecosystem

    SUPPORT CR on PATREON:

Near the Laos-Vietnam border, just beneath the ground, there sits a subterranean paradise larger than anything else like it in the world.

The Son Doong Cave is the largest known cave by cross-section in the entire world – it's a place like you've never seen before. The cave contains its own flowing river, its own jungle, its own ecosystem, and is home to a treasure trove of mysteries. It's also believed to be between 2 and 5 million years old.

In 1991, a local man name Ho Khanh found the cave on a hike, but due to the steep entrances to this subterranean paradise, locals and visitors didn't brave making the journey.

In 2009, a group of cavers from the British Cave Research Association finally conducted a survey of the cave and discover its vast subterranean reaches. It was on this journey that the world became aware of how monstrously large this cave actually was.

My fifteen seconds of fame, portraying John Wilcox at the moment of connection between the Flint Ridge and Mammoth Cave systems on September 9, 1972. The video of me in my wetsuit was shot by Richard Zopf (the bearded interviewee) in 1992. We went to the connection area first, but it was flooded, so we shot this in Eyeless Fish Trail instead, just off of Pohl Avenue in Flint Ridge. This discovery made Mammoth Cave the longest known cave in the world, at just over 144 miles. Today (2011) the cave is 400 miles long by survey, with no end in sight. Narration by Richard We've spared no expense Kiley. With Patricia Wilcox and John Wilcox (interview footage.)

  • ???????? Worlds longest underwater cave found in Mexico

    1:58

What is thought to be the world's largest underwater cave has been discovered off the eastern coast of Mexico in the Yucatan Peninsula - and it is around 350km-long.

A team of archaeological divers found human bones and pottery from thousands of years ago. Scientists are hoping the discovery could help piece together a clearer understanding of the ancient Maya civilisation.

    Al Jazeera's Paul Chaderjian reports.

  • Legend of the Lost Cave | Son Doong Worlds Largest Cave

    1:17

It’s been on my bucket list for the last three years to explore the worlds largest cave, Son Doing in Vietnam. February 2020 Kendall and I took one of the most remarkable trips of our life. This was a five day expedition lead by Oxalis Adventure in Vietnam’s Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

I strive to always create more unique and different videos challenging my creative limits. At this time I felt most travel films I saw had a similar style, so I wanted to try something different fueled by my imagination. This video is a result of where my imagination went as we hiked, crawled, jumped, and swam through the cave; it felt like Indiana Jones / meets Lara Croft.

I hope you enjoy this video! If you have any questions and/or comments please share with me below.
