  • The Biggest Stars in the Universe HD

    2:34

Star Size Comparison: The biggest/largest known stars in the Universe.

VY Canis Majoris (VY CMa) is a red hypergiant star located in the constellation Canis Major. With a size of 2600 solar radii, it is the largest known star and also one of the most luminous known. It is located about 1.5 kiloparsecs (4.6×1016 km) or about 4,900 light years away from Earth. Unlike most stars, which occur in either binary or multiple star systems, VY CMa is a single star. It is categorized as a semiregular variable and has an estimated period of 6,275,081 days, or just under 17,200 years.

Antares is a red supergiant star in the Milky Way galaxy and the sixteenth brightest star in the nighttime sky (sometimes listed as fifteenth brightest, if the two brighter components of the Capella quadruple star system are counted as one star). Along with Aldebaran, Spica, and Regulus it is one of the four brightest stars near the ecliptic. Antares is a variable star, whose apparent magnitude varies from +0.9 to +1.8.

The Pistol Star is a blue hypergiant and is one of the most luminous known stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. It is one of many massive young stars in the Quintuplet cluster in the Galactic Center region. The star owes its name to the shape of the Pistol Nebula, which it illuminates. It is located approximately 25,000 light years from Earth in the direction of Sagittarius. It would be visible to the naked eye as a fourth magnitude star, if it were not for the interstellar dust that completely hides it from view in visible light.

Rigel (β Ori / β Orionis / Beta Orionis) is the brightest star in the constellation Orion and the sixth brightest star in the sky, with visual magnitude 0.18. Although it has the Bayer designation beta, it is almost always brighter than Alpha Orionis (Betelgeuse).

Aldebaran (α Tau, α Tauri, Alpha Tauri) is an orange giant star located about 65 light years away in the zodiac constellation of Taurus. With an average apparent magnitude of 0.87 it is the brightest star in the constellation and is one of the brightest stars in the nighttime sky. The name Aldebaran is Arabic (الدبران al-dabarān) and translates literally as the follower, presumably because this bright star appears to follow the Pleiades, or Seven Sisters star cluster in the night sky. This star is also called the Bull's Eye because of its striking orange color and its location in the bull's head shaped asterism. NASA's Pioneer 10 spacecraft, which flew by Jupiter in 1973, is currently traveling in the direction and will reach it in about two million years.

Arcturus (α Boo / α Boötis / Alpha Boötis) is the brightest star in the constellation Boötes. With a visual magnitude of −0.05, it is also the third brightest star in the night sky, after Sirius and Canopus. It is, however, fainter than the combined light of the two main components of Alpha Centauri, which are too close together for the eye to resolve as separate sources of light, making Arcturus appear to be the fourth brightest. It is the second brightest star visible from northern latitudes and the brightest star in the northern celestial hemisphere. The star is in the Local Interstellar Cloud.

Pollux (β Gem / β Geminorum / Beta Geminorum) is an orange giant star approximately 34 light-years from the Earth in the constellation of Gemini (the Twins). Pollux is the brightest star in the constellation, brighter than Castor (Alpha Geminorum). As of 2006, Pollux was confirmed to have an extrasolar planet orbiting it.

Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky. With a visual apparent magnitude of −1.46, it is almost twice as bright as Canopus, the next brightest star. The name Sirius is derived from the Ancient Greek Σείριος. The star has the Bayer designation α Canis Majoris (α CMa, or Alpha Canis Majoris). What the naked eye perceives as a single star is actually a binary star system, consisting of a white main sequence star of spectral type A1V, termed Sirius A, and a faint white dwarf companion of spectral type DA2, termed Sirius B.

The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. The Sun has a diameter of about 1,392,000 kilometres (865,000 mi) (about 109 Earths), and by itself accounts for about 99.86% of the Solar System's mass; the remainder consists of the planets (including Earth), asteroids, meteoroids, comets, and dust in orbit. About three-fourths of the Sun's mass consists of hydrogen, while most of the rest is helium.

  • Universe Size Comparison 3D 2021 | Space Size Comparison | The largest Star in the Universe

    4:11

Friends, This video is all about the Universe Size Comparison 3D & Space size comparison. The universe is all of space and time and its contents, including planets, stars, galaxies, and all other forms of matter and energy. ... At the largest scale, galaxies are distributed uniformly and the same in all directions, meaning that the universe has neither an edge nor a center.

Planets in our Universe can get extremely large but stars get even bigger. In this video, we explore the sizes of moon planets stars, and even beyond including black holes and even galaxies.
Basically a comparison of the entire Universe. If you think, we miss out on anything, Please mention it in the comments, we will include it in our next Universe Size Comparison or Space size comparison video.

Here you get a proper idea about Universe Size Comparison:
    Ceres 950km
Ceres is the smallest recognized dwarf planet, the closest dwarf planet to the Sun, and the largest object in the main asteroid belt that lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. With a diameter of 940 km, Ceres is both the largest of the asteroids and the only recognized dwarf planet inside Neptune's orbit.

    Universe Size Comparison
    The Moon 3500 Km
Earth has one moon, and there are more than 200 moons in our solar system. Most of the major planets – all except Mercury and Venus – have moons. ... Saturn and Jupiter have the most moons, with dozens orbiting each of the two giant planets. Moons come in many shapes, sizes, and types.

    Universe Size Comparison
    Callisto 4800 Km
Callisto is the outermost of the four Galilean moons of Jupiter. It orbits at a distance of approximately 1 880 000 km (26.3 times the 71 492 km radius of Jupiter itself)
    Mercury 4900 Km
Mercury is the smallest planet in the Solar System and the closest to the Sun. Its orbit around the Sun takes 87.97 Earth days, the shortest of all the Sun's planets.

    Universe Size Comparison
    Mars 6800 Km
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun – a dusty, cold, desert world with a very thin atmosphere. Mars is also a dynamic planet with seasons, polar ice caps, canyons, extinct volcanoes, and evidence that it was even more active in the past.
    Venus 12000 Km
Venus is the second planet from the Sun. It is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. As the brightest natural object in Earth's night sky after the Moon, Venus can cast shadows and can be, on rare occasions, visible to the naked eye in broad daylight.
    Earth 13000 Km
Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the only astronomical object known to harbor life. About 29.2% of Earth's surface is land consisting of continents and islands.
    Kepler 22b 30,000 Km
    Neptune 50,000 Km
    Uranus 51000 Km

    Omega Centauri 150 Light Years
Small Magellanic Cloud 7000 Light Years

The Milky Way 100,000 Light Years
The Milky Way is the galaxy that contains our Solar System, with the name describing the galaxy's appearance from Earth: a hazy band of light seen in the night sky formed from stars that cannot be individually distinguished by the naked eye.

    Universe Size Comparison
    IC 1101 6000,000 Light Years
    Bootes Void 250,000,000 Light Years
    The Universe 150,000,000,000 Light years

These are the common questions about Universe Size Comparison:
How big is the universe comparison?
They found that the universe is at least 250 times larger than the observable universe, or at least 7 trillion light-years across.
What is bigger than the universe?
Cosmos At Least 250x Bigger Than Visible Universe, Say Cosmologists. The universe is much bigger than it looks, according to a study of the latest observations. When we look out into the Universe, the stuff we can see must be close enough for light to have reached us since the Universe began.

How many Earths could fit in the universe?
By dividing the two volumes we get a factor of 3.2⋅1059, or written as decimal number: The observable comoving volume of the universe is about 320,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000-times the volume of Earth.

What is biggest galaxy or universe?
The biggest known galaxy is IC 1101, which is 50 times the Milky Way's size and about 2,000 times more massive. It is about 5.5 million light-years across. Nebulas, or vast clouds of gas, also have impressively large sizes.

What is bigger than a galaxy?
Superclusters form massive structures of galaxies, called filaments, supercluster complexes, walls or sheets, which may span between several hundred million light-years to 10 billion light-years, covering more than 5% of the observable universe.

  • Star Size Comparison - Biggest Star in the Universe Compared to our Sun.

    2:54

Star size comparison is really interesting. Sun compared to other stars nicely presented here. Anybody can get an idea about star size comparison, the biggest star in the Universe, list of largest stars, etc. from this video. The sun is a star at the center of the Solar System and its diameter is about 109 times that of Earth, and it has a mass about 330,000 times that of Earth. The PISTOL STAR is a blue hypergiant and is one of the most luminous known stars in the Milky Way Galaxy.

The star owes its name to the shape of the Pistol Nebula. It is located approximately 25,000 light-years from Earth in the direction of Sagittarius. VY CANIS MAJORIS (VY CMa) is a red hypergiant star located in the constellation Canis Major. It is one of the largest stars and also one of the most luminous of its type and is located about 3,900 light-years from Earth. UY SCUTI is a bright red super-giant and pulsating variable star in the constellation Scutum. It is one of the leading candidates for being the largest known star by radius and is also one of the most luminous of its kind. It has an estimated average median radius of 1,708 solar radii or a diameter of 2.4 billion km; thus a volume 5 billion times that of the Sun. It is approximately 9,500 light-years from Earth.

  • Star size comparison 2020

    3:24

Because new scientific discoveries have been made, I created an updated version of the video Star size comparison 2020. As of August 2020, the largest known star in the universe is Stephenson 2-18. While previously the largest, UY Scuti is now ranked low as it was discovered to only have 755 Solar radii. Stephenson 2-18's radius is more than 2,000 times that of the Sun!

Here are the biggest/largest stars included in this video:
Arcturus, R136a1, Polaris, Aldebaran, Canopus, Rigel, Eta Carinae, Pistol Star, CW Leonis, Antares A, Betelgeuse, HV 2112, VY Canis Majoris, Westerlund 1-26, WOH G64, and Stephenson 2-18.

Constellations: Bootes, Dorado, Ursa Minor, Taurus, Carina, Orion, Sagittarius, Leo, Scorpius, Tucana, Canis Major, Ara, Scutum

Stephenson 2-18 is a red supergiant star within the open cluster Stephenson 2 located around 20,000 light years away from Earth in the constellation of Scutum. It is among the largest known stars and one of brightest red supergiants. It is estimated to be around 10 billion times bigger than the Sun. If placed at the center of the Solar System, it would engulf the orbit of Saturn.

WOH G64 is another red supergiant star found in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) satellite galaxy in the southern constellation of Dorado. Like Stephenson 2-18, it is one of the largest known stars in the universe, with a radius more than 1,500 times that of the Sun.

Westerlund 1-26 is a red supergiant or red hypergiant within the outskirts of the Westerlund 1 super star cluster. It is one of the largest known stars discovered so far although its radius is uncertain but is calculated to be between 1,530–2,550 solar radii, corresponding to a volume between 3.6–16.6 billion times bigger than the Sun.

VY Canis Majoris is an extreme oxygen-rich red hypergiant or red supergiant and pulsating variable star located at 1.2 kiloparsecs (3,900 ly) away from Earth in the constellation of Canis Major. It is one of the largest known stars by radius, and is also one of the most luminous and massive red supergiants, as well as one of the most luminous stars in the Milky Way Galaxy.

    Definition of Terms:
    1. Solar Radius - is a unit of distance used to express the size of stars in astronomy relative to the Sun.
    2. Luminosity (Solar Luminosity) - a unit of radiant flux conventionally used by astronomers to measure the luminosity of stars, galaxies and other celestial objects in terms of the output of the Sun.
    3. Temperature (Effective temperature) - The effective temperature of a body such as a star or planet is the temperature of a black body that would emit the same total amount of electromagnetic radiation. Effective temperature is often used as an estimate of a body's surface temperature when the body's emissivity curve (as a function of wavelength) is not known.
    4. Temperature (Kelvin) - The kelvin is the base unit of temperature in the International System of Units (SI), having the unit symbol K.

    Dear world,
    Let´s talk about time.
When I uploaded my first YouTube video 7 years ago, I would have never thought that it would get that much attention. Had lots of discussions, met new people, continued to make videos about things that intrigued me. Or tried out effects.

I enjoyed it a lot, and I still read every comment that pops up. And they keep coming in. It is a hobby that I am very glad about having started. And I am humbled by the attention.

Well, as time went by I found less time to work on videos, struggled with other things in life, and wondered if I would ever find the time again.

But I always knew one thing:
I owe you something. All the time people were are asking about a sequel to starsize comparison. And yes, I promised once.
I keep my promises. So, whenever I found time over the last year I spent it on that. Here it is.
I hope you like it. I tried to do it in a bit different way. Curious for the feedback. I know I will be hardly able to beat the choice of music from the first part, but let me say, Vangelis Alpha is a piece that is very dear to my heart, I always had this in mind.
Still looking for contact to musicians.
I do not know what the future brings, but I hope we will hear from each other. Enjoy.

  • A Star Heavier Than the Whole Solar System

    8:52

Hey guys! Today, we’re on a cosmic journey to find the biggest star in the Universe! Our own Sun is not the biggest one out there, but it’s still massive! You could fit 1 million Earths inside it. That means, if you think of the sun like a basketball, Earth would be half the size of a pencil eraser. The Sun makes up 99.9% of all the mass in the entire solar system. Bu the way, did you know that large stars shine brighter and hotter?

What about the famous North Star? Funny enough, different stars have had this title over the years, and more will take it in the future! That’s because Earth’s Pole Star changes every 26,000 years. Imagine our planet like a spinning top. The northern pole will shift around in a little circle, pointing at different stars to the true north. The current one is a supergiant 37 times wider and 5 times heavier than our Sun! But it’s still not the biggest star known to humanity…

    4:09

This is a 3D representation of the smallest to largest stars in the universe. A star is an astronomical object, a bright sphere of plasma held together by gravity. The closest star to the earth is the sun. Many other stars can be seen with the naked eye at night, but because of their large distance from the earth, they appear as fixed points of light in the sky. The most prominent stars are divided into constellations and constellations, and many of the brightest stars have proper names. Astronomers have identified known stars and compiled a catalog of stars that provides standardized star positions.

  • All Planets, Stars, Galaxies Ranged by Size

    11:14

How big are the planets? What's the size of our galaxy? How big is our Sun compared to other stars? Space is vast. Yep, so much so that even compared to the Sun our planet is no larger than a pin. The Sun over 863,000 miles in diameter, and to get from one pole of it to the other by airplane you’ll need more than two months — and some serious heat protection.

Okay, as you may have guessed, we're going to try to understand how big different space objects are. By the way, the smallest outer space object that people have detected is a micro-asteroid called 2011 CQ1 — it’s just 3 feet across. As for the largest space object in the observable Universe, it's a galactic supercluster complex that is simply unfathomable. Can you imagine 10 billion light-years? Neither can I.
