  • For 10 Years NASA Has Been Capturing Images of Mars and They Now Reveal the Planets Amazing Beauty

    5:41

On August 12, 2005, NASA launched an unmanned spacecraft. The idea was for them to capture photos of the unexplored planet. Mars is also known as the Red Planet. This is because the planet has a reddish hue when observed in the night sky. It is the fourth closest planet to the sun, right beside Earth, which is the third. Mars is just over half the size of Earth. It has just about 38 percent of the surface gravity than Earth does. Mars has water; however, because of the low atmospheric pressure on Mars, it has only 1 percent of the water that Earth does.

On Mars, there is a lot of water ice. Scientists believe that the Mars polar caps contain a great deal of ice. They believe that if all of the ice at the south pole of Mars were to melt, it would cover the whole planet in 36 feet of water. In 1610, a scientist was able to examine Mars through a telescope. It was then that the Italian astronomer Galileo made his breakthrough. In 1659, a Dutch scientist named Christiaan Huygens was the first scientist to identify a Martian feature, the volcanic plain of Syrtis Major. It was then determined that the length of a day on Mars was 24 hours and 30 minutes.

We couldn't wait to get spaceships to Mars to explore. This started the Cold War Space Race between the USA and the USSR. The Soviets were the first to launch a probe to Mars in 1961, but the Americans were the first to find success with Mars-bound spaceships. The Soviet Union launched five missions to Mars between 1960 and 1962, but all of them failed. The US sent their first ship to Mars in 1964, but that one failed also. Later in 1964, the US spaceship, Mariner 4, made it to Mars. They had a successful flyby in July 1965. When the craft returned to Earth, it had detailed pictures of the surface of the planet.

After the first flyby of Mars, more and more missions were sent to the planet. With technology, the missions were more successful. Regardless of the success, two out of three missions failed. In 1971, Mariner 7 managed to orbit around the whole planet. In 1976, Viking 1 and 2 were able to land on the surface of Mars. Viking 1 managed to get the first ever, color photo of the planet's surface.

In 1966, the Mars Global Surveyor spaceship was sent to space for a mapping exercise. It wasn't going to land on Mars, but it was going to find optimal spots for spacecraft to land in the future. Finally, in 2008, the American spacecraft Phoenix landed in the northern pole of Mars. It was a robotic vehicle that had a probing arm. It was then that we confirmed that there is water on Mars in the form of ice.

This spacecraft launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida in August 2005, and it cost $720 million to build. The spaceship was 21-feet tall, and it contained a radio antenna dish that was 10-feet in diameter. It was also fitted with 220 square feet of solar panels. It weighed 4,800 pounds when it was launched, and half of that was fuel to power the necessary 20 thrust engines.

When the Orbiter was launched, it took seven months to get to Mars. The operation lasted for five months. The main objective of the Orbiter was to find out more about the past levels of water n Mars. Scientists knew that the water ran across the surface of the planet earlier. Now they wanted to know if there was still water present, allowing for living organisms to thrive on the planet for long periods of time.

The purpose of the mission was to measure the weather trends on the Red Planet. They wanted to know more about the seasonal changes and the makeup of the polar ice fields. They also wanted to search for dangerous landing areas, such as protruding rocks.

In 2008, the Phoenix that had been launched in August 2007 and it had a successful soft landing on Mars. They managed to get a photo of Phoenix as it parachuted down to Mars. The area where it landed looked a lot like the Earth's polar regions that are covered with permafrost. The robotic arm was dropped to take samples of the soil on Mars. These samples confirmed that there was ice just below the surface.

During the mission, the spacecraft was able to capture 2,054 images of the Red Planet. The photos told them a lot about the planet. There are pictures of the areas where there was once water. There are a few frozen spots on the planet that are sheltered from the sun's rays by deep folds of dunes. There is a photo that was taken in May, which is the Martian spring, where snow and ice on the ground are actually frozen carbon dioxide, also known as dry ice. • Stephen Hawking’s 7 Predictions of Earth’s Demise in the Next 200 Years

    11:01

What will happen to our planet in the next 200 years? The most famous scientist since Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, who has made profound and inspiring discoveries, predicted an extremely dark and pessimistic future to the Earth and its inhabitants. Here are some of Hawking’s most terrifying predictions on how and when our world will meet its demise.
Since scientists started toying with genetically engineered viruses to treat human illnesses, they’ve also discovered other possible uses for them. Nowadays, pharmacists are even combining several deadly viruses into a single shot and doing some weird stuff with DNA mixing.
Hawking was a firm believer in extraterrestrial life, and he was convinced that they will eventually invade our planet. And no, unfortunately, they probably won’t come in peace. In his final work, A Smooth Exit from Eternal Inflation, completed just two weeks before he died, Hawking predicted that our universe will eventually fade into darkness as all the stars run out of energy.
Although Hawking's life basically depended on artificial intelligence, he didn't trust it at all. He once said that it might just be “the worst invention in the history of our civilization” because it’ll probably replace humans altogether.
Hawking added that global warming will make the conditions on Earth similar to those on Venus. To save ourselves from problems like overpopulation (and the scarcity of resources that comes with it), pandemics, and pollution, we have to discover new worlds and become a multi-planetary species.

Aliens will invade our planet. 2:36
The Universe will come to an end. 3:52
    Robots will replace humans. 4:21
Nuclear weapons will destroy humanity. 5:32
We'll need to find another planet to live on. 6:03
The Earth will combust into a ball of fire. 9:17

    SUMMARY
-We still don't fully understand the long-term damage genetically engineered vaccine concoctions might have.
-Chances are that cosmic beings will find our floating rock in space and they’ll most likely want to either destroy us or study us like lab rats.
-Hawking predicted that our universe will eventually fade into darkness as all the stars run out of energy.
-The scientist believed that artificial intelligence could eventually outsmart and outperform humans or, worse, decide to get rid of us.
-The development of militarized technology and weapons of mass destruction could lead us to disastrous consequences, which would mean the end of our world.
-According to Hawking, we have to find another planet to live on within the next 100 years. Otherwise, we’ll die out as a species because Earth has already reached “the point of no return”.
-Global warming will make the conditions on Earth similar to those on Venus. The average temperature will be about 480°F. Our planet will burst into flames in less than 600 years.

  • This is What Mars Colonies Could Be Like in 2035

    8:00

Welcome to Extinction Update, the series that gives you an ecological face slap.

As the earth becomes less and less habitable due to the climate emergency, a group of academics known as The Astroland Agency is testing how humans could colonize Mars by 2035.

Many believe the Red Planet can’t support life as it’s too cold on the surface, there’s no atmosphere or oxygen to breathe and the air is too thin to support water. According to The Astroland Agency, the only way humans can currently survive on Mars is by living underground in lava tubes. But could pampered billionaires like Elon Musk really cope with living like that?

Before the pandemic, we headed to a cave in Spain’s Cantabria region where the scientists are simulating what it’s like. The aim of these expeditions is to provide scientific insights to help humanity overcome the physical and mental challenges the lucky few would face on Mars while developing new technology in the fields of energy-self-sufficiency, telemedicine, robotics, and AI.

  • Nasa Insider Leaks Mars Rover Photos

    10:07

NASA's Mars Rover's photos were leaked, and it looks like the US Government has been hiding some of the images that could prove alien life on the red planet.

Is there life on mars or maybe even the moon? NASA photos have revealed some strange things over the years. Images from lunar orbiters seem to show evidence of aliens on the moon and alien made structures. Conspiracy theorists have claimed photos show alien ruins and compounds. Conspiracy theorists claim this is evidence that there was one alien life on the moon, but a simple explanation may be the truth. Mars rover photos have shown what looks like alien remains, alien statues, alien creatures and alien buildings. NASA says many of these objects can be easily explained, but conspiracy theorists argue that these photos show evidence of life on mars now or in the past. Cannonballs on mars may be evidence of a martian war, and pyramids on mars may be evidence of intelligent life. What do you make of these photos? Are these images simply rock formations or are they actually the work of aliens? There are many interpretations. Watch the video to see some very fascinating leaked mars and moon pictures, and then you can decide for yourself. Anonymous even claims that NASA has already made contact with advanced alien life and is just waiting for the right time to reveal this shocking information to the world. Mars Rover Perseverance is set to land on Mars in 2021, and many more photos of mars will be revealed in the future. Do you believe there is life on mars or even the moon? • Mars: What happened to the Spirit Rover?

    16:05

    'I can't move and it's getting cold'.

If the Spirit rover could speak, this is what it would have said.

Our story begins in 2004, January 4th.

The spirit rover slams into the dusty surface of Mars, bouncing on it’s airbags 28 times before coming to rest.

It landed about 13 kilometres away from the targeted site, in the Gusev Crater.

The team at NASA informally named the landing site ‘Columbia Memorial Station’, in honour of the astronauts who were lost in the Columbia disaster, just the year before in 2003.

After a successful landing, Spirit opens its eyes. This is the first colour image Spirit captured, which was, at that time; the highest definition image ever taken on another planet.

So far the mission was running smoothly, but that was all about to change.

On January 21st, Spirit’s 17th Martian day, mission control suddenly lost contact with the rover.

The next day, Spirit sent a short beep, confirming that it had received a signal from Earth but that the rover believed it was in some sort of fault mode.

At the time, NASA engineers speculated that the rover was stuck in a reboot loop. Spirit was programmed to restart if it detected a fault, but if that fault occurred during reboot, it would continue to reboot indefinitely.

This meant that the rover was not going into sleep mode, therefore wasting it’s energy and running the risk of overheating. This error was taken very seriously and could have signalled the end of Spirit’s journey.

Luckily, on Spirit’s 19th day, the team at NASA announced that the problem was actually with Spirit’s flash memory, and the issue was software related. The fix was as easy as deleting some files carried on the rover’s flash drives and reformatting the system.

By day 32, Spirit was back up and running.

Spirit would go on to make more discoveries and run into more trouble, watch the video to see spirit's full journey.

  • Signs of life on Mars!

    12:02

Mars and Venus are our closest neighbors in the solar system. If Mars is in a particularly favorable position, it is only 55.6 million kilometers away from us on its elliptical orbit. Then we see it as bright red with the naked eye standing in the night sky. Astronomers observed strange processes on Mars as early as the 17th century. Due to the change in color and Earth-like surface structures, it was soon assumed that life existed on Mars.

  • Mission To Mars: Will Humans Visit The Red Planet By 2030? | Nightly News Films

    11:49

NASA’s Chief Administrator Steve Jurczyk believes the agency could be ready to send humans to Mars by the late 2030s. To make that a reality, researchers need to determine if life ever existed on Mars, if the planet has resources future explorers could use, and gain an understanding of Mars’ climate and geology. NASA’s new Perseverance rover will be a major step towards human exploration of Mars. Equipped with some of the most advanced scientific equipment, this rover will search for evidence to determine whether life ever existed on Mars, and a host of other experiments including a device capable of converting Mars’ atmosphere into breathable oxygen.

    3:53

NASA has successfully landed a new rover on Mars, in the most ambitious mission yet to the planet.

After a seven month journey through space, the rover called Perseverance survived a perilous high-speed plunge through the Martian atmosphere and made it safely down to the surface of the red planet, confirming its arrival with a tweet.

It's the most advanced rover ever sent to another planet and it’s hoped it will eventually return samples to Earth. Its mission is to search for ancient life that may have existed billions of years ago.

  • What If We Nuked Mars?

    4:05

Elon Musk wants to nuke Mars. What are the consequences? Without nukes, life on Mars might be like this: You'd live in giant glass domes, and grow small portions of food inside. And if you happen to go outside, it would be in your big clunky spacesuit, and you wouldn't be able to stay out for long. But it doesn't have to be like this. But Mars could end up looking and feeling a lot more like your planet, Earth. But how? Well...

  • What Will Happen On Mars By 2058!

    14:08

From where we are right now, to where we will be many decades from now, join us as we discuss what will happen on Mars by 2058.
    8. The State Of Colonies On Mars Right Now
Before we can look at the future of Mars, we honestly need to think about where are with Mars right now. Which is...a work in progress let's say. That's fair, right?
In truth, the state of Mars right now is one of exploration and research. Scientists from NASA, SpaceX and other fields in astronomy are working to get answers and information as to how humanity might live on Mars, and what we can do once we land there. Both NASA and SpaceX are working on rockets that will enact the first manned missions to Mars, which is well ahead of where we were in the first decade of the 2000's, so that's indeed progress.
    7. 2022
In terms of getting to Mars, 2022 is a very important year, for the very simple reason that this is when genius and stargazer Elon Musk wants to launch his first craft into space to go to populate Mars. Which means that we're less than a few years away from this happening. That's quite soon when you really think about it.
But what exactly is his mission? Will it be full-on colonization? Not quite, he has a more simple plan to smart benefitting his rather genius intellect.
Because he knows that any mission to Mars that would involve colonization must first be done in steps. And the first steps is to ensure that they can just reach Mars with his Big Falcon rockets that he's got SpaceX working on.
    6. 2024
Ok, so let's assume that Elon Musk's plan works, and that his cargo ships reach Mars intact and that the Mars weather and other conditions don't destroy the cargo themselves upon landing. What next?
Well, that would be people, but to be clear, he's not going to send a whole colony's worth of people in one go, that would be foolish and stupid and risky, and he knows that. So, not unlike the cargo ships, he's going to send a limited amount of people to live on Mars for about 9 months in 2024.
    5. 2026
They say that competition breeds excellence, and that's true to an extent. And as such, when Elon Musk years previous announced his goal to go to Mars, he got himself a rival in the form of Mars One. Their goal was to launch by 2026 the first part of their own Mars mission. Like Musk, the first step in their mission was to send various kinds of equipment and cargo to Mars
    4. 2026-2030
So one spacefaring mission to Mars is gone, but SpaceX is still in the running, as is NASA, but let's focus on Musk's plan for Mars colonization. So if he does make it to Mars with people in 2024, and is able to get them to stay on the planet without various issues for 9 months, gets the data he needs to ensure a longer term trip to Mars...what then? Well...colony life begins.
The goal of the second mission will be to help not just expand the colony, but help expand the potential of the colony. Including giving them more materials and equipment to work with as they try and truly establish an everlasting colony on Mars.
One of the ways that Elon Musk and company intend to do that is via space cranes.
    3. New Life, New Feelings On Life
Something that we take for granted on Earth is that we have this familiar routine that go through in our lives. Often times it's something like: Wake up, go to work, have lunch, go back to work, come home, do housework, relax, and go to sleep.
It's simple, it's basic...it's how do things on Earth. On Mars though, that's not how things will be. Every day won't be the same to start because you're trying to build a colony.
    2. 2050
2050 is a big date in the minds of many people, including Elon Musk. Because in the minds of scientists, astronomers, and more, 2050 is a year where should not only be on Mars, but be starting to thrive on it. Musk himself has said that by 2050 we should be able to have a fully functioning city on Mars as long as we prepped ahead of time and have had no setbacks.
And if that is the case, that would begin a whole new life for the human race. Granted, it's just a dream right now, but, if it does happen, it would be a big moment, and would set the stage for the many years to come.
    1. 2058
So we've made it to Mars, we've lived there for a couple decades now and life is actually pretty decent on it. Which brings us to the question we started the whole topic with, what will Mars be like by 2058?
Obviously, this is all speculation, but that doesn't mean we can't have some fun speculating!
First and foremost, barring unforeseen events (like World War III), once we establish a colony on Mars that can thrive, we'll keep sending more people to make more colonies.
There's also the question of terraforming. Or warping the planet to our needs. By 2058, we might have the ability to not just terraform the planet, but it could already be terraformed! So the red planet might not be so red anymore(terraforming mars).

  • What Happened To Mars?

    3:33

Mars was formed ~4.5 billion years ago. It's located on the outer edge of the Habitable Zone. Which means it's slightly too far from the Sun and receives a little less amount of sunlight.

About a billion years after its formation, Mars used to have a very thick atmosphere. Which used to trap the heat coming from Sun and warm up its surface, just like Earth. Mars had an Earth-like warmer climate and water used to flow all over its surface.

    8:19

Are the ice caps on Mars melting? What the Mars' ice caps made up of? And what is happening to them?

In this video, we discuss Mars polar ice caps. We begin by talking about what they are made up of, primarily being dry ice and water ice. Something unique about Mars is that Carbon dioxide can exist as both a gas and a solid on Mars, so we look at the science behind why that is. Then, we consider what is happening to the ice caps, and see that they sublimate (go from solid to gas) as the polar region heats up. So during the winter, the ice caps grow in size, and as spring and summer begin, the dry ice sublimates and leaves behind mostly water ice. This cycle plays a large role in the climate of Mars because a majority of the Martian atmosphere is made up of carbon dioxide.

This process is very fascinating and tells us why the ice caps on Mars appear to change so much throughout a Martian year.
