  • Millie Bobby Brown Raps a Stranger Things Season 1 Recap

    2:46

Millie Bobby Brown raps a recap of Season 1 of Stranger Things. Lyrics below:

Let's go back to Indiana, circa Nineteen Eighty-Three
Just four boys in the basement chillin' playin' D&D
There was Lucas there was Willy Will and Dustin, there was Mike
But one night Will goes missing while he’s riding on his bike – yikes!

That's when they met me Elev
I had no hair on my head
I had been so close to dead
Courtesy of Dr. Brenner who's huntin' me twenty-four sev

Joyce was hanging Christmas lights in the web
Started hearing something Willy had said
This could be a message from the beyond
What happened to Barb? She’s just gone in the Upside Down

Hopper's on top of the case
    I'm throwing vans into space
I'm lying down in a tank
Trying my best to find Willy and Dustin's got pudding for days

Demogorgon's getting' all in my way
Blast him to pieces just like a grenade
Will's now at home coughin' slugs in the sink
What happened to me? I'm in the Upside Down

What about now? The saga continues, tune in to see how
Upside down. What about now? The saga continues, tune in to see how

All I need is my Eggo waffles, I'm in love with those
What I'm left with when I use my powers is a bloody nose
Bad news when you see that bloody nose
Bad news when you see that bloody nose

  • WEIRDEST Animals Created By Scientists!

    8. Enviropigs
Pigs are an important part of human culture, mainly in terms of food. However, inside them they have a potentially very dangerous byproduct: Phosphorus. They have it in their bodies, and they emit it into the general environment with their bowel movements.

    7. Landmine Plants
While not an animal, this plant was created for a specific purpose, and it's arguably one of the most creative, and important, creations ever done by science. Why? Well, because these plants were made by a company to change their color when a landmine is near.

    6. Fuel Microbes
The energy crisis is one of the most important things being talked about in our world today, so it should not come as a surprise that scientists have tried to create things that can help solve the world's fuel problem. What you may be surprised to learn though, is that they're closer to this than you might think, and the source of this potential new way of getting fuel is with microbes.

    5. Glofish
The concept of a glowing fish is not new. In fact, many creatures are able to do this naturally via bioluminescence, and although it is a mystery in nature as to why creatures need it, it is a naturally occurring phenomenon. However, people wanted to take this idea further and be able to have fish that glow on demand, available for every aquarium! And so they created Glofish.

    4. Sudden Death Mosquitoes
Who likes mosquitos?? A British company named Oxitec came up with an idea to make a mosquito that would infect others to make them sterile. Forget alligators and snakes, mosquitoes are the animal that kills the most people in the world.

    3. Spider-Silk Goat
The Spider-Silk Goat is just what it sounds like, a fusion of goat and spider DNA. Now, unlike movies that would make a creature built for horror films, on both the outside and inside this goat looks the same. It doesn't have tons of eyes or more than four legs, but it has been altered with spider DNA.

    2. Super Salmon
Not unlike the Spider-Silk Goats, Super Salmon, also known as AquAdvantage Salmon, were bred with a specific purpose. These salmon were not only bred to be huge, they were bred to get to that size in half the time that a natural salmon would do it. This of course speeds up the time that the fish would be ready to go to market to be sold all around the world.

    1. Dolly The Sheep
In all science, there is a first, and when it comes to the topic of clones, there is one thing that everyone knows, you have to talk about Dolly the sheep. Dolly is the first official cloned animal in the history of the world to have reached adulthood, which is an accomplishment that is still talked about to this day.

    8. 90 04 06
The ocean’s currents can act in some weird ways, and just exactly how they work is still somewhat of a mystery to modern-day scientists. For years, though, researchers have been tracking a certain number of items to monitor the currents, and what they are might surprise you.
In the 1990’s, a large shipment of Nike shoes was accidently dropped from a cargo ship and into the deep waters of the ocean. While a big loss for the company that manufactured the shoes, this accident was a big break for scientists.
It turns out that each of the Nike shoes of the some 80,000 that were lost all carried the same serial code printed on them.
The code that was printed on the shoes was 90 04 06. This distinct marking has allowed ocean experts to track the movements of the shoes for years, allowing them to better understand how and where different underwater currents move and interact with one another.
Nike might have lost a lot of money when they lost their shoes, but they’ve certainly helped advance the sciences a bit. Hm, wonder if they got to write the loss off on their tax returns.
    7. Bananas For Everyone
Most of us imagine sea shells when we think about walking along our local beach lines -- or maybe sharks if one is a bit more cautious around water.
However, sometimes something entirely unexpected makes its way onto shore. These things range from the odd, to the mysterious, to the comical.
In November of 2007, an island in the Dutch North Sea was treated to a rare and weird kind of tide washing in.
The waves came in one morning and the next thing the people of Terschelling Island knew there were bananas all over their beach. Thousands of green, unripe fruit littered the sand, attracting a large number of the nearby town’s citizens to collect and scavenge the unexpected haul of produce.
There were just far too many bananas for anyone to know what to do with them. Some of the locals even suggested sending them to the local zoos.
As weird as this occurrence might sound, the citizens of Terschelling are actually used to the contents of random, lost shipping containers washing up on their homes’ doorstep. Sweaters, shoes, and hundreds of children's’ toys are all example of the type of things that have washed up on the Dutch island. Plenty of things floating around their waters!
    6. Human-Sized Fish
Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and the list of cryptids go on.
For thousands of years, humanity has whispered about things hiding in the shadows that mainstream science has yet to recognize.
Many believers in these shadowy creatures even point to seemingly extinct animals as proof that monstrous beings have existed at one time and might still survive somewhere, unseen, even today.
Perhaps nowhere is the existence of extinct creatures more possible than in the mostly unexplored seas and oceans of the world. Just around 98% of the Earth’s waters are unexplored, unmapped, and undocumented in any kind of detail, leading to the question of just what might be lurking down under the deep blue waves that crash just off our safe shores.
Despite us only having explored around 2% of the water in the world, most experts still doubt the existence of modern, underwater prehistoric or cryptid creatures.
In 1938, however, a fish called a Coelacanth that can grow to be the size of a large human was discovered off the coast of South Africa. This fish was previously thought to have gone extinct up to 66 millions years prior to its rediscovery -- and yet, we found it living right under our noses. Wonder what else is hiding in plain sight?
    5. Rotting Ball
In August of 2016, a 36-year-old man named Mark Watkins was fishing with his aging father in the waters off the western coast of Australia. As their boat pushed them through the waters, the two fisherman never expected to stumble upon a large, floating pink blob that was absolutely gigantic!
The alien blob of pink and white seemed bloated and full of air. Upon first inspection, Mr. Watkins and his father at thought that it was a hot air balloon or even a weird kind of upturned boat.
The fishermen's’ curiosity got the best of them, so they inspected it further. Upon coming closer to the floating white ball, the two discovered that flippers were attached to the large object and the smell was terrible!

No matter whether it's 1, 2, 3 or 4, the Sony PlayStation has been one of the most popular consoles since 1995. However, some people have decided to make their own PlayStation controllers and they’re a little bit odd to say the least. In some cases, we think you'd be better off playing with a potato.

Whether it's a Wu Tang Clan controller that's too uncomfortable or a device that lets you play Dance Dance Revolution without dancing, there have been some odd choices. Fans of the Dragon Quest franchise can play with slime while Rez players had something which sparked rumours. There was a skateboard that let Tony Hawk fans down while Resident Evil fans got their very own chainsaw to play with. From a giant moth with tentacles to ants with a giant shield for a head, here are 10 of the weirdest and coolest animals on Earth!

    10. Mantis Shrimp
The mantis shrimp is a fierce and complex creature! While they aren’t even that big, they pack an enormous punch. There are about 550 species of mantis shrimp, ranging from less than an inch to over 1 foot!

    9. Frilled Shark
This shark doesn’t look like a typical shark because it has adapted to living life in the deep dark sea. As some scientists have noted, the Frilled Shark looks like a creature you would find in a national history museum! Yet, it's very much alive in the modern world, which has led people to calling it a living fossil or a prehistoric shark, both of which are accurate.

    8. Bald Uakari
Most primates don’t strike us as particularly weird. While they can be intimidating, they’re pretty close to humans. But bald uakaris (Cacajao calvus) can be pretty scary-looking. These South American primates have completely bald heads (hence their name) and blazing red faces. Native to the Amazonian rain forests of Peru, Brazil and Colombia, they have a long coat of hair that can be reddish brown to orange and typically grow to about 2 feet long and weigh from 4 to 7 lb (1.8 - 3-2 Kg).

    7. Tardigrade
The tardigrade is one of the most fascinating creatures on the planet. Affectionately called the ‘water bear’ since so many people think it’s cute, you can only pretty much see them under a microscope. They live just about anywhere, but mostly in damp or wet environments such as in or around lakes. Their diet is based on fluids.

    6. Turtle Ants
Scientists estimate that there are somewhere around one million billion ants currently on earth, divided into around 12,000 species. Given their diversity, it’s no surprise that there are some that stand out from the rest. But even with this expectation, turtle ants stand out! You can find Turtle ants in hot semi-tropical environments such as Brazil in the trees.

    5. Ground Pangolin
Most of the time, when we think scales, we think reptiles or fish but the ground pangolin (called Temminck's or the Cape pangolin) is the only creature with scales that is entirely warm-blooded, and the only mammal covered with scales (along with other pangolins).

    4. Platypus
The platypus’ odd appearance has been confusing people for centuries. It has a beaver’s paddled tail, a rotund body covered with fur, and duck-like features such as a flat billed face and webbed feet. And they lay eggs. What kind of creature is this? It’s a venomous mammal! People thought this animal was a hoax for years!

    3. Creatonotos Gangis
A few years ago, a video went viral of an enormous moth that looks like it has tentacles growing out of its back! Or like a moth getting attacked by a centipede or something, like pulsating back legs. This thing looks like something out of a horror movie. But it’s actually real!

    2. Ribbon Worm
The ribbon worm is perhaps the strangest worm you can find. There are more than 1,000 species of ribbon worms that can be found mostly in the ocean and they are infamous for their method of attacking victims.

    1. Viperfish
The viperfish (Chauliodus sloani) is one of the strangest looking creatures in the world; not only that, but it is also one of the deadliest predators in the deep sea. Because they are so fast and live in such a harsh environment, very few have ever been spotted. But of those we have seen, the images are striking.

  • The Worst Text You Could Ever Receive...

    4:07

This iPhone bug (Mac OS as well) is rendering aspects of the device useless. It seems that when a specific foreign character is rendered in any app it causes a relaunch of the springboard. Afterwards, the effected app can no longer be opened unless some kind of rescue message replaces the offending one.

Let's hope Apple patches this iPhone / iOS / OSX bug ASAP. It appears to be affecting iPhone, iPad, MacBook etc.

  • These Face Mites Really Grow on You | Deep Look

    3:28

Yep, you probably have Demodex mites living on your face. These tiny arachnids feast on sebum, the greasy oil in your pores. But should you be worried about your eight-legged guests?

    SUBSCRIBE to Deep Look!
    Please support us on Patreon!

DEEP LOOK is a ultra-HD (4K) short video series created by KQED San Francisco and presented by PBS Digital Studios. See the unseen at the very edge of our visible world. Explore big scientific mysteries by going incredibly small.

Pretty much every adult human alive has a population of these mites living on them.

Also called eyelash mites, they’re too small to see with the naked eye. They’re mostly transparent, and at about .3 millimeters long, it would take about five face adult mites laid end to end to stretch across the head of a pin.

Face mites spend their days face-down inside your hair follicles nestled up against the hair shaft.
They eat sebum, that greasy oil your skin makes to protect itself and keep it from drying out. That’s why the greasiest parts of your body — like around the eyes, nose and mouth — likely harbor a higher concentration of mites than other areas.

They live about two weeks. They spend most of their time tucked inside our pores. But while we’re sleeping, they crawl out onto the surface of our skin to mate before crawling back into our pores to lay their eggs. Fun!

--- How common are face mites?
Pretty much everyone has some face mites on them. Babies are born without them but quickly receive them from their parents through direct contact. The amount of mites may increase during puberty when the skin starts to produce more oil.

--- How do you get rid of face mites?
There’s usually no need to try to rid yourself of face mites as they typically don’t cause any symptoms and are nearly impossible to fully eradicate. Since female face mites can also reproduce asexually, it only takes one mite to repopulate your skin. Some people experience an overpopulation of face mites resulting in an inflammatory disease called demodicosis which is easy to recognize sue to the many small evenly-sized pimples that appear quickly. Consult a dermatologist if you think you may have symptoms.

--- What do face mites eat?

Face mites consume the greasy oil that you skin produces to protect itself.

All of these are super easy to make and only require 1-2 ingredients which you probably already have at home! These were four craft hacks that I've never heard of before, especially considering how much time I spend making DIYs, so I hope that at least a few of these are new for you as well :)

*I noticed that cornstarch and cornflour are used interchangeably in some places, however there's a different kind of yellow cornflour made from tiny pieces of corn (that's not the right one). Regular flour doesn't work for this DIY either because the particles are too big and it contains gluten which will turn the mixture sticky.

    3) SCENTED FAKE SNOW
    Shaving Cream:
Bilou: The shower foam/lotion foam we used was created by the German YouTuber BibisBeautyPalace and widely sold in Germany & Austria. You should be able to find similar products in any drugstore :)

FLABBY SEA MONSTER! 10 Japanese Street Food
Let’s face it – street food is one of those things that make life so much better. And a big part of touring new places is the ability to try out some of these delicacies. The tastes bring a whole new and unique experience.
Japan being so rich in cultural diversity, serves these street pleasures in more ways than you can ever imagine. Walking down Japanese streets, you’re bound to run into dozens of food stalls each promising an opportunity to indulge in their offerings.
Speaking of that, here are some of the options you’ll be presented with when you set foot in the land that gave us Ninjas.
    #10 Crepe
Just to be clear, crepe isn’t a Japanese dish. It has its origins in France where it is so popular that the French have dedicated every 2nd of February to be the official day of crepe eating.
But today, you can be sure to find crepes being enjoyed in countries across the world, including Japan. In the Asian country, they’ve become quite popular to a point where they’re now a common sight at street fairs and are even a staple in some parts like Harajuku. And they aren’t so complicated either.
You can think of them as pancakes but lighter, thinner, larger, and a bit more delicate. That means they’re prepared with flour and can usually be had as sour or sweet options.
Sour crepes are prepared using buckwheat flour, hence the taste while sweet crepes come from regular wheat flour and sweetened with a bit of sugar. To even make it better, the crepes are accompanied with a wide range of fillings.
Of course, the accompaniments are influenced by the type of crepe you’re looking to dig into.
For sweet crepes, the fillings can be whipped cream, syrup, chocolate, or fruits. Sour crepes on the other hand are usually accompanied by eggs, mushrooms, ham, bacon, cheese, or some types of herbs.
    #9 Nikuman
While you can have a fill of nikuman all year round, they’re usually available in abundance during the winter months between late August and early April. During this period, you can pop into most convenience stores and pick several hot pieces for your fill.
For the rest of the year, nikuman are mainly available out in the streets and during festivals.
These little pieces aren’t of Japanese origin though. Essentially, they’re just a renamed version of the Chinese buns baozi. Everything else is pretty much the same though there are different modes of preparation across the country.
The general preparation method involves filling flour dough with cooked ground pork or beef. And here is where the variations come in as the preparation can feature different fillings. The most common one used other than the meats are the azuki beans in which case the buns are referred to as anman.
The anman bun can also incorporate other condiments such as lard and sesame oil for added flavor and taste.
The outer dough is sometimes enhanced with food coloring or turmeric to give it a yellow hue effectively creating a variant of the nikuman called kare-man.
    #8 Ikayaki
Here’s what ikayaki is in simple terms – a grilled squid, sometimes on a stick. If you fancy such a delicacy then you might want to visit Japanese streets.
And if it’s your first time trying out this fast dish, there are befitting options. Usually, the squid is served in parts as per a diner’s preference. So you can order the whole of it without the entrails or just a portion of it like tentacles if the squid is big enough.
Often, it’s also divided into rings that allow you to delve into it part by part. And if the squid is so small, it usually comes on a stick which you can enjoy like it were pieces of meat. To make the whole experience even better, this snack is usually dipped in a sauce for that enhanced flavor.
    #7 Takoyaki
Takoyaki has been part of the Japanese street cuisine from at least the 1930s when it was prepared in Osaka. Since then, it has soared in popularity to being sold in every part of the country.
The major ingredients of the dish are batter and octopus. The octopus is enclosed in the ball-shaped dough and served while hot just like dumplings. But these aren’t the only components of takoyaki. Others include pickled ginger, green onion, and tempura scraps. Tempura is prepared by battering and deep-frying seafood, vegetables, and meat.
All these are enclosed in the ball.
On the outside, the balls are treated with a sauce and mayonnaise before being sprinkled with dried bonito shavings and green laver.

  • STRANGEST Things Found in Ordinary Objects

    8:53

Many of the items featured on our list today appear on other lists with a very negative tone attached to them, like you’ve been lied to your whole life, or can you believe it’s actually made from x, y, z… but in reality, many of the items are made from recycled products, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! This isn’t an invitation for you to go home and cut through things to see what they’re made of though, let us do that for you!

    Subscribe to Talltanic

    13 - Safety First…
Probably one of the more unexpected interiors has to be the inside of this hair tie! Once the green covering began to unravel, a condom was revealed. These images were actually investigated by Snopes, and they confirmed the story. Certain hair ties made in Dongguan and Guangzhou were made using defective condoms, not used obviously! It’s usually a combination of a rubber band and an eraser type of material, in fact it can actually erase pencil if you have the time to try!

    12 - If all else fails…
So, what do you do with all those soda’s featuring Shaq’s face that didn’t sell? You stick Arnold Palmer on them, and hope for the best! No, I’m not sure if that’s the actual reason, but it’s a sound theory. Arnold Palmer was an American golfer, and his face has been used on the Arnold Palmer, which is the name of a beverage made from iced tea and lemonade.

    11 - Check Mate…
This knight from a chess set has been weighted down using old dice. This is definitely not the norm though, and could just be this particular company that used old stock to fill the gaps!

    10 - Looks can be deceiving…
Similar to our earlier story about the 6-vault batteries, when you open up a 9-vault battery, you find what appears to be 6 AAA batteries. Now, they do look a lot like regular AAA batteries, but they are in fact 3.5mm bigger, but it’s been said you can use AAA batteries to replace them if you needed to
    .
    9 - Reveal yourself…
Someone went to a great a deal of effort to slice open a bowling ball. Not the tenpin one mind you, but a lawn bowls one. Much has changed since lawn bowls was first played in the 13th century, and these balls used to be weighed down on one side of the ball. They don’t do that anymore, and the ball is made from melamine, with one weight throughout.

    8 - Shake, Rattle and Roll…
Don’t you love that sound of shaking a tin of spray paint. You can hear the little ball inside, clanging against the tin, making a wonderful sound. It also evokes a bit of excitement, because you’re obviously about to begin a project of some sort. Isn’t it a tad disappointing to learn that it’s just a marble inside?

7 - Two for the price of one…
Perhaps it worked out too costly to make new, longer handled screw drivers from scratch, and this was the cheaper option, I’m really not sure – but it is a bit unusual to find one screwdriver hiding inside another, isn’t it?

    6 - High-rollers…
Dice are generally made with plastic inside a little mold, but how this dice ended up being coated with a layer of blue is a bit of a mystery. This dice cracked, revealing a white dice trapped inside. Here’s two interesting facts about dice you may not be aware of… The dots are actually called pips and they’re believed to have been invented in China.

    5 - Not the best quality…
When you buy a desk or table, at the very least you expect the product to made from wood. Call me crazy, but you kind of have an expectation that the product will be durable, sturdy and last a little while. Well, that may not always be the case as highlighted by this consumer. His table was made from cardboard. I’d love to know how much he paid for it, wouldn’t you?

    4 - Perfect Fit…
Although it makes sense, I guess it’s not something we really give much thought to. Someone has highlighted the fact that inside his SD card, was a micro SD card. What’s nice about having this bit of information, if you ever have a need for a micro SD, you can just use this one!

    3 - Half Time…
Since we’ve had a look at some of the unexpected interiors of some of our everyday products, we’ll throw in a few cross-sections of other interesting products, for example, how amazing does a cigar look when it’s sliced in half? At first glance you would assume it’s cork, but it’s actually so tightly stuffed with dried and fermented tobacco leaf, that it just looks like cork.

    2 - A thing of beauty…
This is like artwork to the coffee lover. This is what a cup of coffee looks like with the cream swirling around inside it. This photograph was taken by New York photographer Beth Galton, who has many more interesting cross-sections of food and beverages that we enjoy on a daily basis.

  • Plastered Pork Tacos - Food Wishes

    8:41

They say there are a thousand ways to roast pork, which doesn’t prevent me from trying to come up with a few new ones, like this experiment in “plastering” pork. While this looked incredibly bizarre coming out of the oven, the tacos it produced were amazing, especially topped with this easy apple jalapeño salsa.

  • The World’s Strangest Borders and How They Got That Way with Kenneth Schultz

    36:57

Today’s international borders have been shaped by warfare, colonialism, geography, and demography. While some borders seem quite sensible because they follow a river or mountain range, others appear irrational and arbitrary – often with real consequences for the people who must live with them. We’ll explore the processes that have formed the world’s borders by examining some of the strangest, including one that might not even exist.

Kenneth Schultz, MA ’93, PhD ’96, is a professor of political science and an affiliate at the Center for International Security and Cooperation. His interests include international conflict and conflict resolution with a particular emphasis on the role of domestic politics in foreign policy choices. Professor Schultz’s current research seeks to understand the origins and resolution of conflicts over territory. He is the author of Democracy and Coercive Diplomacy and co-author of World Politics: Interests, Interactions, and Institutions.

Classes Without Quizzes are presented by the Stanford Alumni Association. Filmed on location at Stanford Reunion Homecoming 2014.

  • FISHING WITH HARAMBE!? Weirdest Game Ever - Kill Marry Fish Gameplay Highlights and Funny Moments

    16:11

Ever wanted to save the life of Harambe? Well now you can in what is probably one of the weirdest game I've played in a while, Kill Marry Fish. We're checking out some Kill Marry Fish gameplay highlights and funny moments and this game is really something else. A game jam style of game, you fish for wacky meme, famous person, and pun-filled fish in a psychedelic landscape that makes you feel like you've dropped acid or something. From the music to the color pallet to the shifting waves, everything is very hypnotic and dream like, but the creators clearly had a sense of humor once you see exactly what type of fish you'll be catching, along with the fish names and the little one-liners the fish have.

  • Gvprtskvni - how is this even a word, Georgian!?

    9:16

The Georgian language has some highly unusual syllables. Here's the linguistics behind its complex consonant clusters.

    ~ Briefly ~

Starting from one clustery word, we'll go on a journey looking for the root of this record-breaking consonant phenomenon known as Georgian. We'll quickly pass over some of its standout characteristics, from its ejective sounds to its striking writing system, before we settle down into Georgian's atypical syllable structure.

Not only are its syllables long, they're full of sonority violations. This happens thanks to the language's morphology, particularly the way its verbs put pieces together. We'll end with a contrast between the clustered but relatively benign gvprtskvni-like verbs versus ones that look deceptively easier to say but have much trickier grammar.
