SpaceX will conduct the high altitude test flight of their SN9 prototype vehicle soon. This flight will be a repeat of the largely successful SN8 test flight, with some possible minor flight profile changes.
Prior to the flight, the vehicle conducted 3 static fires on the test stand last week. A new air separation unit arrived at the SpaceX test facility in Texas last week. SpaceX is currently building a new test tank, dubbed starship 7.2, for pressure tests.

SpaceX Starship SN9 installed Raptor Engine ahead of High Altitude Flight
We all know SpaceX Starship faced some engine issues last week during Static fire testing but the good news is they have made a quick recovery. So there is a possibility of launch this week considering SN9 and it’s two engines operates properly during the static fire test. Meanwhile, though far less certain, Starship prototype SN9 is preparing for a fifth static fire attempt that could – if successful – precede a high-altitude launch attempt by just a day or two.

    Spacex Starship SN
SpaceX's Starship SN9 prototype fires up rocket engines three times in one day.
SN9 will fly soon, if all goes according to plan.
SpaceX's newest Starship prototype blazed to life a whopping three times today (Jan. 13), apparently keeping the vehicle on track for a high-altitude test flight in the near future.

The three-engine SN9 vehicle performed its second, third and fourth static fire tests in quick succession today (Jan. 13) at SpaceX's South Texas facilities, near the Gulf Coast village of Boca Chica. The engines lit up briefly at 1:28 p.m. EST (1828 GMT), again at 3:22 p.m. EST (2022 GMT) and then yet again at 4:36 p.m. EST (2136 GMT).

During static fires, engines blaze briefly while a vehicle remains tethered to the ground. SN9 already had one such test under its belt, having completed a short static fire on Jan. 6.

Starship SN9 was aiming to provide a streamlined pad flow when compared to the testing undertaken by SN8. With proof testing under ambient and cryogenic conditions completed ahead of a triple Raptor Static Fire test, that goal remained on the cards.
However, SN9’s three Raptors did not fire for the required duration, ultimately demanding the test be repeated last week.

With the Tank Farm replenished and the relevant road closures filed, SN9 once again began fueling operations with the expectation this would clear the path for a launch date to be set later in the week.

latest iteration of the Starship spacecraft has just completed a critical pre-flight wet rehearsal. Wednesday's (January 13) static fire tests marked the second, third and fourth time the rocket has fired its powerful engines while tethered to the ground. • Starship SN9: How SpaceX Solved Landing Crash Problem Of SN8?

    4:51

SpaceX is preparing Starship SN9 for the second high altitude flight test launch.
Starship SN9 was in position on its Launchpad. On December 28 2020-spacex conducted ground tests like: ambient temperature, pressure tests . These tests involved filling the Starship's propellent tanks with benign air-temperate nitrogen gas and checking for leaks and verifying the structural integrity under normal conditions.
Starship SN9 appeared to pass with flying colors.
These tests were then followed by the more dramatic cryogenic proof testing of the craft 29 december .
.On 6th January 2020- static fire test was conducted with three raptor engines and then starship sn9 will be ready for the second high altitude flight test of a starship prototype.
The flight profile of Starship SN9 is likely to follow closely the previous Starship SN8 hop test.

However, SpaceX took just two weeks to start testing for Starship SN9. It seems that SpaceX have found a solution for the methane header tank's pressure drop which caused the failure of Starship SN8.

Elon & SpaceX expects that – by pressurizing SN9’s header tanks with helium for this flight, it should prevent them from losing pressure like the methane header tank did during SN8’s flight .We know that helium is an inert gas which does not react with other elements under normal condition . This makes helium a very good candidate to maintain pressure. Currently there are 2 challenges in using helium. Number one, helium is heavy- the helium crutch adds additional weight to the engine. Number two, helium is expensive.

we can just hope that the helium will do the trick and hopefully we will see starship sn9 successfully complete the 12.5 kilometer test flight. The exact launch time may not be known until just a few minutes before launch-but it is expected to launch on 8th Jnauary.

Along with SN9, it's successors Starship SN10 and SN11 are coming along nicely. SN10 is currently in high bay along with Super Heavy BN1 and SN11 is in mid bay. 2021 is going to be full of high altitude flight test and hopefully, orbital test flight as well!

2021 is surely going to be full of altitude flight tests and if everything goes according to plan we may see orbital flight test as well.

Starship SN9’s tanks are pressurized to confirm their strength before they are cryogenically tested with liquid nitrogen. Once these tanking tests are complete, SpaceX will perform a static fire test of the three Raptor engines. If successful, SN9 will be ready to fly a profile similar to SN8, though hopefully sticking the landing this time.

  • 3D Printed RC Starship SN9 Flight Testing RUD!

    10:10

After making some repairs after my last video, I took my 3D printed remote controlled SpaceX Starship out for some more flight testing to try to get a better feel for the flight characteristics during the freefall maneuver. Unfortunately, it turned into confetti after another hard “landing.”

    Previous Starship Video:

    Superheavy Booster Animation:

My radio controlled starship is powered by two electric motors and propellers, and gimbals them for control just like the real starship; this is far from your conventional “drone.” During the freefall or belly flop maneuver, the motors shut off and it uses its four unique control surfaces to control the descent. In this video, I added a first-person view (FPV) camera, but unfortunately never got around to flying it through the goggles. I think I’ve learned enough about this vehicle to vastly improve the next iteration, but now I would like to shift my efforts toward developing a Super Heavy Booster to launch it with. I even have plans to catch the booster with the launch tower, just like SpaceX. If you liked this or want to stay up to date on my Starship program, please consider subscribing! Spacex Starship Fires Up Three Raptor Engines | Russian Satellite & Chinese Rocket Avoided Collision
SpaceX booms ahead!! SpaceX Starship tested their three Raptor engines at full throttle. Starship Serial Number 8 (SN8) fired all three pre burners of Raptor engines on October 20th 1:21 a.m. This test was much bigger than the 19th October’s pre burner test. The thrust created by the Stainless Steel Prototype was massive. Starship SN8 a first kind of that prototype successfully completed and survived the first static fire test without any fail.
