What If We Lost The Moon?

  • What If We Lost The Moon?

    3:28

This giant rock lights up the night and can even change colors. So what would we do without it?

Would we all need night vision goggles? How would it affect the ocean tides? Our seasons? Or our sleep cycles? Or would the consequences be far more drastic?

As the closest celestial body to our planet, the moon exerts a gravitational pull that governs much of what happens here on Earth Take the sea, for example. If you like surfing, you can thank the moon when the moon’s gravitational pull tugs on our spinning Earth, the oceans respond, giving us high tides in some parts of the world, and low tides elsewhere.

  • What Would Happen If The Moon Disappeared

    4:04

Our moon is on the move. Each year, it drifts an estimated 1.5 inches further away from Earth. And in the process, Earth's rotation is actually slowing down. What if one night, the moon simply disappeared? Would we miss it?

A full moon is on average 14,000 times brighter than the next brightest night-sky object, Venus. So without it, every night would be as dark as a new moon. And star gazing would be spectacular.

But by the next morning, you'd begin to realize just how important the moon is for life on Earth. To start, between the sun, Earth's rotation, and the moon, the moon has the largest influence on Earth's tides.

Without it, high and low tides would shrink by an estimated 75%. This would jeopardize the lives of many types of crabs, mussels, and sea snails that live in tidal zones and disrupt the diets of larger animals who rely on them for food, threatening entire coastal ecosystems in the process. Within a few decades, we would start to see mass population declines in the sea and on land.

One of the largest spawning events in the world occurs in the Great Barrier Reef. Each November in the days following the light of a full moon, coral colonies across the reef — spanning an area larger than the state of New Mexico — release millions of egg and sperm sacs within nearly minutes of one another. Scientists are certain that the full moon plays a role in the timing, but exactly how remains a mystery.

On land, animals like these Red Crabs also use lunar cues to reproduce. After living most of their lives in the mountains, millions of adult crabs migrate down to shore. And then, only during the last quarter of the moon, females release their eggs into the sea.

Now, the moon may not hold as much sway over human reproduction. But without it, something else we care equally about would change — the weather. Tides and tidal currents help mix cold arctic waters with warmer waters in the tropics. This balances temperatures and stabilizes the climate worldwide. Without the moon, weather forecasts would be practically impossible. The average difference between the hottest and coldest places on Earth could grow to life-threatening extremes.

But none of this compares to the biggest change that we would have coming over the next millennia. Right now, Earth tilts on its axis at 23.5º mostly due to the moon's gravity. If the moon disappeared, Earth's axis would wobble between anywhere from 10 to 45º.

Some experts estimate that Jupiter could help keep Earth's tilt from reeling completely out of control. But even just an extra 10º tilt could wreak havoc on the climate and seasons.
In the past, Earth's tilt has changed by about 1-2º, which scientists think could have caused Ice Ages in the past. It's hard to know what a 10º or 45º tilt would do but probably nothing good for most life on Earth.

The moon isn't just imperative for life on Earth today. Experts believe that it may also have played a key role in the formation of life more than 3.5 billion years ago. Turns out, the moon isn't just a beacon of light in the night sky. Its existence is crucial to the delicate balancing act that makes life here possible.

  • What If the Moon Fell to Earth?

    3:03

What if the Moon suddenly began getting closer to Earth? To the point where it was on a collision course with our planet? Would the Earth survive the crash?

Or, would a crash even happen? Would the moon get torn up by Earth’s gravity? What would this crumbled moon look like from Earth? Here’s what would happen if the Moon fell to Earth. The Moon is Earth’s only natural satellite, and the largest object to brighten our night sky.

  • What If The Earth Had Two Moons?

    4:01

What if our Moon had a twin? Seeing not just one, but two of these satellites in the night sky might be spectacular. Let’s assume our second moon would be around 1,000 km (620 miles) wide and about one-thirtieth the mass of our current Moon. It would be about the same distance from Earth, too. Just like the sister satellite our Moon had 4.5 billion years ago.

Would we see this double-moon from Earth? Absolutely! The second moon would just appear about three times smaller. Still, it would be a spectacular view.

    The Moon disaster speech -

Fate has ordained that the men who went to the moon to explore in peace will stay on the moon to rest in peace. These brave men, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, know that there is no hope for their recovery. But they also know that there is hope for mankind in their sacrifice. These two men are laying down their lives in mankind's most noble goal: the search for truth and understanding. They will be mourned by their families and friends; they will be mourned by their nation; they will be mourned by the people of the world; they will be mourned by a Mother Earth that dared send two of her sons into the unknown. In their exploration, they stirred the people of the world to feel as one; in their sacrifice, they bind more tightly the brotherhood of man. In ancient days, men looked at stars and saw their heroes in the constellations. In modern times, we do much the same, but our heroes are epic men of flesh and blood. Others will follow, and surely find their way home. Man's search will not be denied. But these men were the first, and they will remain the foremost in our hearts. For every human being who looks up at the moon in the nights to come will know that there is some corner of another world that is forever mankind.

  • What If We Terraformed the Moon?

    3:38

What if we colonized and lived on the Moon? Obviously, we can’t just pack our stuff and move there today. But what if we terraformed it – reshaped it into an Earth’s image? How long would it take us to turn our natural satellite into a habitable place? How would this Earth-like Moon look? Would this even be possible?

The moon has been our friendly neighbour in the sky for billions of years. It has guided us home, kept us on time, protected us, propelled us into space and has even launched dance crazes! It’s hard to fathom what we’d do without it. But for the sake of science, let’s try to envision a moonless world. What would happen to Earth? Would humans still exist?

  • What if Apollo had crashed on the Moon ?

    6:18

For all of the celebrations surrounding the first manned lunar landing of Apollo 11 in 1969, what is forgotten today is just how close they and the other Apollo missions flew to the edge of disaster.

    Patreon :
    Paypal.me :

You can now translate this and other curious droid videos, see my video about it here

Apollo 11 came within seconds of aborting the landing because they had over shot the landing area and were running low on fuel.
This was only one of several issues with the Apollo missions that arose that could have led to the loss of the mission and crew, though as it turned out only Apollo 13 came close to this happening. This excludes the Apollo 1 accident where the crew died because of a fire as they rehearsed a launch on January 27th, 1967.
Apollo 12 was struck by lightning twice a during the launch and although it knocked several electrical systems, the main navigation system continued to work and the rest of the mission proceeded successfully.
On Apollo 16 the engine back up system malfunctioned on the command module as it orbited the moon which resulted in the flight being 1 day shorter but mission control determined that they could work around the fault instead of aborting the mission.
Even Apollo 11 was a test flight, with it building upon the previous mission’s results and achievements. It was to be the first attempt at a manned landing and was driven as much by the desire to achieve President Kennedys directive to put a man on the moon before the end of the decade as it was to beat the perceived threat from the Soviets getting there first, US national pride was at stake if either of these failed.
As Apollo 11 was to be the first landing, NASA wanted to make sure that it would be as event free as possible, so they chose to land on the largest flattest part of the moon that they could find, officially known as site 2, it was a 10 mile long elliptical area in the northern sea of tranquillity.
The idea was that the flight computer on board the lander would guide it down to from 50,000 feet to 500 feet above the surface where Neil Armstrong would take over the controls for the final landing.
However, Armstrong became aware early on that things were not going to plan and that they had already flown over the landing site and were heading to a boulder strewn area now known as west crater which about the size of a football field.
He assumed control from the flight computer and manually flew over West crater and another smaller crater before landing at the outer edge of site 2 about 4 miles from its intended target, and uttering the immortal words, Houston, Tranquillity Base here – the Eagle has landed.
As he was making the final descent, mission control estimated that they had just 25 seconds of fuel left at the time they landed, although this was later revised to 45 seconds after the mission.

  • What if the Moon Disappeared? | #aumsum #kids #science #education #children

    4:36

Firstly, our nights would definitely be darker. Due to this, night predators like owls would find it very difficult to hunt at night. But, this would be great news for stargazers as there is no interference from moonlight. Secondly, as the moon's gravity is no longer there to hold the earth, it would rotate faster and thus, our days will be much shorter than 24 hours. Craters on moon are a proof that it has protected earth from thousands of asteroids and comets, this no longer will be the case.

With the moon missing, tides in our oceans will be much much smaller as only sun will slightly influence them. Changing tides will also influence the global weather patterns. Finally, moon's disappearance might tilt earth's axis drastically, causing extreme changes in seasons and climate.

I'm tracking you into the city
Ooh under the pressure of the traffic lights
I'm chasing the clues you left me
That you might still join me in the wild

    And we'll all be animals
Didn't need to start a forest fire
Brush the ashes off your shoulders
Let's get lost in the wild
    We're all built for something
Trying to find a starting line
    Don't look over your shoulders

Let's get lost in the wild
Let's get lost in the wild
Let's get lost in the wild

Scratches on my hands and feet
You belong out here with me
Tearing up my hands and feet
You belong out here with me
You belong out here with me

I'm flying fast on my feet

    And we'll all be animals
Didn't need to start a forest fire
Brush the ashes off your shoulders
Let's get lost in the wild
    We're all built for something
Trying to find a starting line
    Don't look over your shoulders

Let's get lost in the wild
Let's get lost in the wild
Let's get lost in the wild

    What if nothing went along
    What if nothing died young
What if nothing was enough to never give up
Maybe none of this is real
    Maybe I can wake up
    Maybe then, oh

    In my mind
You won't be in my mind, oh
    In my mind
You won't be in my mind
    In my mind

  • What If We Settled on the Moon?

    5:35

Imagine living on the Moon. You'd have the best view of Earth, enjoy bouncing around in zero gravity and living your life as an astronaut explorer. Ah, doesn't that sound nice! Except living on the Moon won't be like this at all. So what would it be like to actually live on the Moon? Which country would be first? And why would moondust be your biggest problem?

Correction at 00:26: of course the Moon does not have zero gravity. The gravity on the Moon is about 17% what it is on the Earth.

  • What If China Created an Artificial Moon?

    3:56

We can build really big things in space. Okay, not that big - yet. But we've packed the Earth's lower orbit with about 5,000 satellites - some still functioning and some not. What if we could build a bigger, brighter satellite and put it into the Earth's lower orbit? Something that would reflect so much sunlight that we'd never have to turn our lights on again. I'm talking about an artificial moon. How big could we possibly make it? And why would it be a bad idea to proceed with this space construction project?

    [Verse]
You gave me a shoulder when I needed it
You showed me love when I wasn't feeling it
You helped me fight when I was giving in
And you made me laugh when I was losing it

    [Chorus]
    'Cause you are, you are
The reason why I'm still hanging on
    'Cause you are, you are
The reason why my head is still above water

    [Post-Chorus]
And if I could, I'd get you the moon
    And give it to you
And if death was coming for you
I'd give my life for you

    [Chorus]
    'Cause you are, you are

  • What If We Covered the Moon With Solar Panels?

    3:32

Not too far from Earth is a giant space rock that has silently played host to just twelve people in its entire history. What would happen if we put our cosmic satellite to work by covering it with solar panels?

What would it take to build an enormous power plant on the Moon? How big would this facility be? And how much time would it take to finish this mega-construction?

  • If the Moon were replaced with some of our planets

    1:43

    In order show:

    Mars
    Venus
    Neptune
    Uranus
    Jupiter
    Saturn

Mercury is intentionally left off as it isn't Much bigger than our Moon (and hence is boring)

Everything is correctly scaled. The Axial tilts are not particularly accurate.
the moon that flies in front of Saturn is Tethys. It is Tiny. but *very* close

Dione would be on a collision course, it's orbital distance from Saturn is Nearly identical to our Moon's orbit around Earth

Titan, which is Larger than our Moon, is outside the orbit of Dione

    ****************
on Jupiter, you might be able to make out the 4 big moons, They all have orbits larger than our moons orbit. but I stuck them on the far side of jupiter so that they could be seen so it looks as if they are closer (to Jupiter) than they really are.

    ***************
    Video creation method
I created an Earth Moon system in 3dsmax, with accurate sizes and accurate orbital distances.. I than matched video of the real Moon with my video camera, against my model. I also researched the correct FOV of my video camera. I used both methods to verify my Virtual camera's FOV (around 47 degrees). I next modeled up the rest of the planets in proper scale (Real values) set at the distance of the moon (also real values), created the animation of them rotating around, and composited the whole bunch.

    ***************
    Faq:

    Scales used in Visualization:
    Celestial Body Radius (in km)
    Moon: 1738
    Mars: 3397
    Venus: 6052
    Neptune: 25,269 (equatorial) 24,340 (polar)
    Uranus: 25,559 (equatorial) 24,973 (polar)
    Jupiter: 71,490 (equatorial) 66,854 (polar)
Saturn: 60,268 (equatorial) 54,360 (polar) (not including rings)

    Distance to Moon 384,000km

    Faq: (will expand as needed)

1, We would not be engulfed by Jupiter or any other planet, Jupiter's radius is 71,490 km and the distance to the Moon is 384,000km

2, Saturn is not larger than Jupiter. Saturn + RINGS is larger than Jupiter

3, We would suffer from really really horrible tides, and Volcanoes And some pretty bad Radiation from Jupiter. It *could* strip away our atmosphere, but haven't done the math. Eventually our planet would become tidally locked (that is the same side of Earth would always face Jupiter. we would Still have some bad tides and volcanoes from being in a slightly ellipitical orbit, and from the other moons of Jupiter, and the Sun having tidal influence. I have not calculated how bad the Tides would be. A Simple guess would be at Least 300 times more exaggerated than they are now, This figure could be way off, it's simply an educated guess.

4, We would not be in the rings of Saturn. Or to rephrase that, we would not be in any of the Visable rings of Saturn, There are some very very faint rings that strech out far that we would be in, but i did not model them.

5, We would not be crushed by the Gravity of Jupiter, This is not how orbiting works!.
However, at the Roche limit, we WOULD become a new ring system, The Roche limit is *about* 36,000km above the surface of Jupiter or 106,000km from the center of Jupiter. So, to reiterate if the center of Jupiter was 106,000km away from the center of the earth, Our planet would become a new Ring system of Jupiter.

6, I did not model the Ring of debris around Uranus (this faq will be deleted in a few days)

7, This is not an ad for any beer company, no one has endorsed me, or this animation, It's just the traffic that drove by.

8, There is Ring Shine on Saturn, but it is very faint, the Rings are reflecting light onto Saturn in the animation. The moon that flies by is Tethys

9, I love Pluto, and Mercury. They are left off because they are too small. Pluto is smaller than our Moon, and Mercury is not significantly larger than our Moon.

10, The Sun i used for lighting the planets is slightly off from reality, this was done so that they weren't totally dark and boring

11 FOV is about 47 degrees

12 Orbiting! Yes! we would be a moon of Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune. They are much more massive than the Earth. Venus is about the same size of the Earth and we would orbit around a center point between us

13 Rotation rates and axial tilts are not accurate to anything

14 Radius of the Sun is 695,500 km, and hence if it were where our Moon is, we would be engulfed by it

  • The last man on the Moons panic revealed | ITV News

    2:40

Fifty years after Neil Armstrong spoke mankind's first ever words on the Moon's surface, lunar landings still have the power to fascinate.

But while the first man on the Moon's historic line about a step and a leap is still remembered by most today, some of the last words spoken on there may be a lot remarkable.

Oh, you won’t believe it. It did it again. There goes the fender… Oh shoot!

Those words of apparent panic were spoken by the last man on the surface of the Moon, Commander Gene Cernan.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the lunar landings, his companion, Harrison Schmitt, explained to ITV News exactly what went on.

  • The Moon in Human History

    16:44

Who was the Greek Goddess of the Moon? How did our ancestors study the Moon? What were the first calendars used for? These questions will be answered in this video!

This video is the first in the series, Going to the Moon. In this video, we discuss the History of the Moon during Human times. Understanding the observations our ancestors made, and how the Moon influences animals. We start out discussing some of the ancient lunar calendars that were developed. The Ancient Egyptian lunar calendar, Egyptian Astronomy the Gods and Goddesses named after the Moon, like Artemis. Apollo and Artemis were twins, which makes since the Artemis NASA mission was announced to go back to the Moon.

We then look at Babylonian astronomy, and how they were able to determine the length of a Sidereal Month and a Synodic Month. We also discuss the difference between a Synodic Month vs sidereal month. From there, we discuss various philosophers such as Anaxagoras and Ptolemy and their discoveries about the Moon. We also look at Galileo Moon drawings, discuss Kepler's laws and Newton's laws of motion.

From there, we looked more at animal behavior, Wolves during a Full Moon, etc.

    You’re so sweet
    I was in the deep
    Under the moonlight
    In the wind
    I made my escape
    To come and find you

    All for you

I lost it all when I lost you

    Take me to the moon
    So I can get away
    There must be more
    Than what they say
    Lily and the moon
    I see you everywhere
    If there’s another world
    I will meet you there

    Just let me hide here
Just let me stay until they go
    I’d climb to meet you
I’d climb all the way to where they left your soul just to bring you back

    All for you

    Will you be waiting?
    As I enter through
Bury me right next to you

I’ll meet you there under the moonlight

Scientists have been reconstructing the history of the moon by scouring its surface, mapping its mountains and craters, and probing its interior. What are they learning about our own planet's beginnings?

Decades ago, we sent astronauts to the moon as a symbol of confidence in the face of the great cold war struggle. Landing on the moon was a giant leap for mankind. But it's what the astronauts picked up from the lunar surface that may turn out to be Apollo's greatest legacy.

When the astronauts of Apollo stepped out of their landing craft, they entered a world draped in fine sticky dust, strewn with rocks, and pocked with craters. They walked and rambled about, picking up rocks that they packed for the return flight.

Back in earth-bound labs, scientists went to work probing the rocks for clues to one of the most vexing questions in all of science. Where did the moon come from? The answer promised to shed light on an even grander question. Where did Earth come from? And how did it evolve into the planet we know today?

The nature of the moon began to come into focus four centuries ago. Galileo Galilei had heard of an instrument built by Dutch opticians capable of seeing faraway things as though nearby. Galileo, in many ways the first modern scientist, saw this new instrument as a tool to help settle a long standing question.

What was the nature of the heavens, and how did the world of men fit within it?

To some philosophers, the moon was a perfect, crystalline sphere of divine substance, free of Earth's imperfections. Galileo, with his telescope, saw a more familiar reality. He noted mountains and valleys on the moon, features like those of Earth.

The astronauts of Apollo lifted off on a series of missions to get a close up look at the moon and perhaps settle the debate. Because there's no atmosphere there, the astronauts entered landscapes that are nearly frozen in time. They could scour the lunar surface for evidence of events going back almost to the time of its birth.

Indeed, eons of impacts had opened up the Moon's interior, leaving a wealth of information strewn about their landing sites. Scientists had already noticed that some large old craters were surrounded by concentric rings. You can see one of the most pronounced examples in this image of the Mare Orientale, captured recently by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or LRO. The colors show differences in elevation.

The old view was that the impact had melted the rock below. A newer view held that the impactor had actually splashed down on a molten surface. That gave rise to the radical notion that, early in its history, the moon's surface was covered in a vast ocean of magma.

When the astronauts arrived, they found relatively light rocks known as anorthosites. Their presence suggested that heavier material had sunk toward the moon's interior, forcing lighter material to the surface.

The rocks they brought back were found to be strikingly similar to those on Earth, in part because they share forms of oxygen, called isotopes, that scientists regard as blood types for solar system bodies. Then there was this. The moon appeared to be completely, utterly, dry, with no evidence that water was ever present on its surface.

    A shot to the veins
    taste the rush
I was lost on an escape to love
    untraceable

    It's not the same
    not enough
You and me was like a vivid dream
    why'd you wake me up?

    You were my coming down
    and my solid ground
    Paramount

    Distant screams
    The biggest lie
What are we if never intertwined
    Forever undefined

    Take my hand
    Now or not at all
Sow a seed, grow a plant
    Watch it spire tall
    Ever higher
    My love

    You were my coming down
    and my solid ground
    Paramount

    [...]

    Nights are longer now
And I am, I am stronger
    Without you
    Without you

    I have come around
Life is ocean, we were just travellers
    In the bayou
    In the bayou
    That we outgrew

  • What if Earth Lost The Moon?

    2:06

Moon is the Earth’s only natural satellite it is the 5th largest moon in solar system. With a diameter of roughly 3,474 km and it has a mass of 73 sextillion kg. Average distance of Moon from us is 384,400 km but Moon is slowly slipping away from us.

At the rate of roughly 3.78 cms per year the same rate at which our fingernails grow. Moon slipping away might have negative impact on life on Earth without the Moon, Earth could slow down and might even become unstable in orbit. But it will take billions of years to happen.

  • What If the Moon Disappeared Right Now?

    11:10

We often take the Moon for granted and never even give a thought to how our life would be without our rocky little satellite. Have you ever wondered what would happen if the moon suddenly disappeared? Among all the worst-case Apocalyptic scenarios out there, this is one of the most blood-chilling.
One of the most important things about the Moon is the influence its gravitational pull has on the Earth. This is what makes the seas and the oceans rise and fall, giving birth to the tides. They occur twice a day, with the water level rising and then receding again.
If the Moon disappeared, a supermassive tidal wave would ruin California, Australia, South-East Asia, large parts of Africa, Chile, India, and part of Western Europe. Due to the new landscape on Earth, people wouldn’t be able to grow crops or develop agriculture, so resources would become extremely limited. Week after week people would see nothing but rain, yet this would be followed by a dry season lasting for months on end. Then, everything would suddenly get buried in snow that wouldn't melt for weeks or perhaps months. Without the Moon, the Earth would spin faster and faster. Besides much shorter days, this means that temperatures would drop since the Sun wouldn't have enough time to heat the surface of our planet.
Without the Moon, low and high tides would decrease by 75%, which would disrupt entire ecosystems that are dependent on the tides.
What seems like not such a big deal at first will have catastrophic consequences to life on our dear planet.

    SUMMARY
-As a result of the massive collision about 4 billion years ago, a huge chunk of the Earth broke away and created the Moon.
-If it weren’t for the Moon, there wouldn’t have been tides to force aquatic life forms to set up shop on land.
-If the Moon disappeared, 72,000 cubic miles of water would come crashing down to sea level. Three-fourths of the planet would be affected, and fatalities would reach 140,000,000 worldwide.
-People would start fighting for food and the scarce remnants of technology still left on the planet.
-Without the Moon, the Earth’s tilt would sometimes reach 45 degrees, meaning we’d be living in a world spinning on its side.
-The climate would never go back to the one we’re used to, and the seasons would become absolutely unpredictable.
-Without the Moon, the natural cycles of marine life would get all messed up, and this would dramatically affect the whole food chain.
-The Earth would lose its bodyguard against countless asteroids and meteors.
-The only imaginable way is that our satellite blows up.

Oh hey there BrainStuff. I'm Lauren. And it's time you and I had a talk... about the moon.

I know we haven’t been there in a while, but… it’s pretty rad. We think that about 4.5 billion years ago, something the size of Mars crashed into Earth and ricocheted into space to form the Moon. It even took some of Earth’s mantle with it. So there’s ancient chunks of our planet merged with space stuff up there, just hanging out in orbit.

But even with all that, I’m not sure the moon gets all the credit it deserves. If it wasn’t there, things would be a lot different here on our little blue planet.

First, we'd see some pretty dramatic changes to the ocean. The moon is responsible for most of the effects of tides. Without it, the tides would only be a third of the size they are now. This is because the sun would account for the major gravitational pull affecting the altitude of the ocean. And while the sun is way bigger than the moon (like 400 times bigger), it is also much further away. So the tides it creates only have about 40% of the strength of our current lunar tides.

Surfing wouldn’t be the only thing that suffered. Lots of ecosystems rely on the motion and changes of the tides to sustain them. Plus, the moon holds a bulge of tidal water around Earth’s middle that would disperse without its gravity, changing coastlines around the world.

Also, did you know that the moon helps slow down the rotation of Earth? Yep, without it we wouldn't have 24-hour days. They'd be more like 6-8 hours long. We'd have to remake our calendar to accommodate between one thousand one hundred and one thousand four hundred days per year. Not only would that screw up all of our schedules, but a faster rotation would also increase the amount of wind and storms on our planet.

If that's not enough extreme climate change for you, no moon would also destabilize the Earth's axis, unpredictably changing our tilt with side effects that would render the planet inhospitable to lots of its creatures.

Right now we're tilted at a lovely 23 degrees, which gives us relatively mild seasons and environments. But the moon acts as an external force that stabilizes that angle. Without it we could wobble anywhere between zero degrees (with no seasons and barely any sunlight) to 85 degrees, where the planet would fall over on its side like a kitten on a catnip high. Mars, for example, wobbles between only 15 and 35 degrees, and it experiences drastic climate changes where ice drifts all the way from its poles to its equator.

Finally, gang... I don't know if you've noticed, but the moon's pretty darn bright up there in the middle of the night. Sure, the sun is four-hundred-thousand times brighter. But sometimes it still hits your eye… you know, like a big pizza pie. Which means that without it, our nights would be a lot darker than we're used to. Try stumbling around in the woods without a moon and see how you like it.

    Lyrics:
    I sang your praises daily
And we let ourselves get swept away
    It's true baby
We held heaven in our hands for days
    You wait a long time
For something wild to take you somewhere
And all I needed was to fly
It's a long way from paradise to ordinary
Picture us just smiling there, we didn't have a care
I remember, how it all came true
    It was oh so tender
And I was lost with you
    By the sweet sorrento moon
But the stars don't burn that brightly
    Every season surely slips away
    But you baby
You're the reason why I chose to stay
You wait a long time to find your dream and hold on to it
And all I needed was to fly
It's a long day from innocence to understanding
A picture of a child at play, is how I feel today
And I remember, how it all came true
It was oh so tender, and I was lost with you
By the sweet sorrento moon... (la luna de sorrento)
