  • Worse Than Walmart: Dell G5 5000 PC’s Garbage Parts & Hidden Charges

    29:49

Our Dell G5 5000 pre-built gaming computer review looks at quality & Dell’s shady billing practices. One video won’t be enough to contain all the issues we had with Dell’s prebuilt.

This is our review of the Dell G5 5000 gaming PC, an i5-10400F model with a GTX 1660 Super and a single stick of 8GB of RAM. This part focuses on the build quality, the shady billing practices (of our separate Alienware PC we bought), and the proprietary, unusable nature of the components Dell selected. This thing is worse than the Walmart PC we reviewed, because at least that system could have its parts mostly salvaged into something else. Our gaming, thermal, noise, and power benchmarks for the Dell G5 5000 will run in a second video, publishing a day after this one, so be sure to subscribe for that.

  • Dells Dumpster Fire: Bloatware Uses 30% GPU

In our final benchmark of the Dell G5 5000 gaming computer, we look at the insane bloatware problem (and McAfee), the thermals, gaming performance, and benchmark noise.

Dell's G5 5000 gaming PC is back for one final set of tests in our benchmarks. The system already got a failing grade for what we think are insanely unethical billing practices, but also for terrible, single-use build quality and mostly proprietary parts. Dell is cutting corners everywhere possible on hardware. In this, we also get to see the software bloat and the gaming benchmarks and performance.

  • Worst So Far: iBUYPOWER Pre-Built Gaming PC Slate MR1004 Review

    29:46

We thought the bar for prebuilt PCs couldn’t get much lower after reviewing the systems from Dell & Cyberpower. iBUYPOWER's Slate MR is here to show us how wrong we were.
Sponsor: Get 10% off Squarespace purchases (

The iBUYPOWER Slate MR1004 is the next in our lineup of pre-built gaming PCs to review. As usual, we have gaming benchmarks, thermals, noise testing, power consumption, and a tear-down to help determine who makes the best prebuilt gaming PC at a given price. This one is closer to the $700 mark, whereas previous prebuilt reviews featured $900 and $1050 systems. Being the cheapest one yet makes it the most accessible, but unfortunately, it also means there’s the most room for corner-cutting if the system integrator (SI) allocated its budget in non-sensible ways.

We buy these pre-builts out of pocket to help inform your decision making. It's our goal to eventually find a couple that are good (without modification) so we can make some recommendations. If you'd like to help fund our ability to do this while also getting something in return, consider one of our Mouse Mats, Pads, or Modmat PC building surfaces:

  • Best Pre-built Gaming PC? Or is it the worst? | Dell G5 Gaming Desktop | Unboxing/First Impressions

    7:19

The Dell G5 gaming tower is a decent gaming PC that could run most games at a decent FPS. The only downside to this PC is the cooling. The quality is solid and it looks very cool. I bought this PC for almost $2000 CAD. I dont think its as bad as some people say, but also not very good considering how much I paid for it...

Between the working-from-home explosion last year and the absolutely insane demand for GPUs at the moment, pre-built systems have gotten more attention than we’ve ever seen before. Whether you’re just trying to get a GPU with minimal gouging, helping your friends and family pick a system, getting your first system, or just willing to pay extra for the service, there’s a lot of reasons to consider a pre-built PC. However, the companies that make these computers have a bag of tricks (not all malicious) to take your money, so today we’re going to go through a short list of the pitfalls you may encounter and how you can avoid them when buying the best gaming PC for your needs. We’ll talk about most of the major SIs and OEMs today, but this advice applies to all of them. Dell, HP, Cyberpower, iBUYPOWER, Origin PC, Maingear, and others are discussed.

  • Doesnt Make Any Sense: Cooler Master MF700 Case Review

    24:37

Cooler Master's MasterFrame 700 case doesn't make any sense. It's trying to be too many things at once, and as a result, does nothing well. The MF700 has interesting ideas and bad execution.
Sponsor: Buy Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste on Amazon ( or Hydronaut paste for water cooling (Amazon -

Watch our Phanteks P360A review for a more positive case review recently (of a budget airflow case):

Cooler Master wanted to make a test bench, but they also wanted a big display case, and they also wanted something that could be mounted on the wall, so they made a case that could be all of these things. The Cooler Master MasterFrame 700 is a “transformable” case -- meaning you can pick it up and change its orientation -- that can be laid horizontally as a test bench or stood upright like a computer. The Cooler Master MF700 tries to do many things and struggles to set the standard in any of them. The MF700 is in most direct competition vs. the Thermaltake Core P3 & Core P5 series, and clearly takes inspiration from the likes of the P90 and other wall-mountable or strangely shaped enclosures. We’ll look at whether the Cooler Master MF700 is worth it.

  • 12 Fans, 0 Airflow: One of the Worst Cases Weve Reviewed | Abkoncore Ramesses 780

    27:40

This case includes 12 case fans stock, but the case is like a black hole for airflow. We're reviewing the Abkoncore Ramesses 780, which is one of the worst-designed cases we've reviewed.

The Abkoncore Ramesses 780 (R780) is a massive full-tower case that's outfitted with 12 fans stock, but most of them blow into walls. We're completely baffled by how anyone could actually design this intentionally, then still brag about how great the airflow and cooling is. This case, despite being large, is so inefficiently laid-out that its actual usable space is comparable to much smaller enclosures, so it doesn't even win in the just be large department. The fans were even custom-designed to mount in the bottom while showing the LEDs clearly, but they still can't overcome the panel limitations for air access.

  • Get It Together, NZXT: BLD PC Undercover Review as a Real Customer

    34:37

Our review of the NZXT BLD Streamer PC features customer service benchmarks, system performance, assembly, & build quality analysis. We're auctioning this off for charity, 100% to Cat Angels Pet Adoptions: It didn't feel right to buy, review, and return given this was all undercover and that we can mostly afford this now (unlike the old days), but we also don't want this computer taking up space in our office. Place a bid (only if serious, please, or we'll have to relist) to benefit Cat Angels in its efforts to take rescue cats and find them homes. Cat Angels is a no-kill shelter that we are happy to support.

Additionally, if you'd like to support our efforts directly (since we're likely losing money on this video), please consider grabbing something from the GN Store to support us and get something high-quality in return. We have desk-size mouse mats, PC building modmats, shirts, mouse pads, and more:

GN Wireframe desk mats (featuring blue underside, blue trim, and PC components in wireframe across the entire surface):
GamersNexus Large Modmats for PC building:

In this review, we're secretly testing the customer service experience, build quality, and performance relating to an NZXT BLD Streamer system for gaming and streaming. The configuration was about $1500 pre-taxes, featuring the specs listed below. Our goal was to evaluate NZXT's customer service after being horrified at the level of its incompetence when looking through its twitter feed, but we wanted to do that as real customers and without alerting NZXT. We also wanted to test NZXT BLD's ability to assemble a system properly, which is a test that, thus far, Walmart, iBUYPOWER, and CyberPower have all failed in our pre-built reviews. We assume that someone will do it right eventually, but we were 0 for 4 leading into this review. Sometimes it's small, like forgetting to initialize a drive or enable XMP, and other times it features cables disconnected. NZXT's chance to prove that it can be better than long-standing system integrators lies with its BLD systems.

  • Dont Use Cheap Cables: Dangerous Construction & False Wire Gauge

    29:55

This video aims to educate on basics of cable quality and compares cheap power cables commonly used for render farms and crypto mining operations.
Get an in-depth video on how the testing equipment works: - the equipment used was once used by Jonny Guru himself, and we're excited to finally start deploying it in cable and power supply testing. Your support on Patreon helps us explore more opportunities like this one (that cost a lot of time), and our bonus behind-the-scenes video shows the testing process. Alternatively, grab one of our modmats on the store!

The content in this video applies evenly to all cables: The rules are the same for determining a quality cable and the risks are the same for a cheap cable, we just chose PCIe and SATA mining risers as a timely vessel for the explanation. As stated in the video, we are not taking sides on mining, but regardless of how someone uses their computer, we don't want to see needless fires caused by buying cheap cables (and again, that applies to all computing, not just mining). This information can help you to learn more about powering both NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, and it is specifically geared toward informing viewers about how much power SATA, Molex, PCIe, and Berg connectors can safely transfer. Additionally, we provide data, graphs, and charts of each wire’s performance under heavy loads.

An important note: As stated in the video, we are not green-lighting any particular cables in this piece. The goal is education on the basics.

  • Pathetic: Intel Core i9-11900K CPU Review & Benchmarks: Gaming, Power, Production

    22:28

The Intel Core i9-11900K is a pathetic, embarrassing CPU that underperforms versus Intel's own 10900K. The 11600K is worthy of attention as a good value, but not the 11900K.

You might also like our GN Wireframe Mouse Mats (desk-sized):
    Or GN Toolkits (low stock!):

The Intel Core i9-11900K CPU is a rough one. This CPU, like the 11700K, is hard to justify -- but it's often even harder to justify than the i7-11700K, because at least that one is cheaper. The 11900K ends up with fewer cores than the 10900K, and although cores aren't everything, these architectures don't change enough to make it an insignificant loss. The 11900K dropping two cores does hurt its performance, particularly in production applications, and that relegates the CPU almost exclusively to gaming -- but even that's rough, especially versus the AMD R9 5900X, AMD R7 5800X, and Intel's new i5-11600K (and old 19-10900K).

  • Dell G5 5000 Series Gaming Desktop | Detailed Review & Close-up Views

    11:01

Dell's G5 Gaming Desktop starts out at an entry level price that is very affordable with decent specs including SSD-based storage and a Core i3 processor. However, you can outfit it with higher specs such as a Core i9 processor and even up to 64GB of RAM. This unit here is one of the entry level configurations, but it's still a solid choice for a beginner's gaming desktop. My favorite is the design of the front bezel which is clean and simple, yet features a visually-pleasing aesthetic. What do you like and disklike about the Dell G5 Gaming Desktop? 19:10

We reviewed the Dell G5 5000 gaming computer as a complete system, now we're testing Dell’s green PCB-take on the GTX 1660 Super, just in case you only wanted it only for the GPU.

Just in case you were considering buying the Dell G5 5000 prebuilt for only the GPU, we wanted to review the system's included GTX 1660 Super. It's technically unbranded, but has a Dell VBIOS. Most other system integrator-made prebuilts will have AIB partner video cards included, so that'd be a company like EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte, ASUS, etc. In this instance, Dell took the cheapest approach by making its own. That's not necessarily bad in some instances -- but parts this low-end certainly can be.
