Yellowstone National Park is an American national park located in the western United States, largely in the northwest corner of Wyoming and extending into Montana, and Idaho. It was established by the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872. The park is known for its wildlife and its many geothermal features, especially Old Faithful geyser, one of its most popular. While it represents many types of biomes, the subalpine forest is the most abundant. It is part of the South Central Rockies forests ecoregion.

  • Wolves saved Yellowstone National Park - The Northern Range

    8:32

Few places are as special and unique as Yellowstone National Park – the world’s first national park. A wilderness jewel of vast forests and wide-open valleys, home to large bison herds, wolf packs, and grizzly bears.

The Northern Range is the hub of wildlife in Yellowstone National Park. Occupying just 10 percent of the park, it is winter range for the biggest elk herd in Yellowstone and is arguably the most carnivore-rich area in North America.
Early management of predators caused dynamic changes to the ecosystem. The reappearance of carnivores on the landscape has had significant and sometimes unexpected impacts on the resident grazers and their habitat.

Wolves had been absent from Yellowstone National Park for more than 70 years when they were reintroduced in the 1990s – and their return had some surprising benefits.

When we let nature work and we don't interfere with it, it can do wonders. Letting the wolves into Yellowstone National Park and leaving them to their our own fate shows us what a complex system nature is and how dozens of wild beasts can transform the entire ecosystem of such a vast area.

  • Yellowstone National Park . Midway Geyser Basin. Wildlife in Yellowstone. Lamar Valley

    23:57

This episode is about our travel to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National parks. We visited Midway Geyser Basin, Old Faithful, Lamar Valley, and many other parks in Yellowstone. The best times to visit Yellowstone National Park are from late April to May as well as September through early October. These shoulder months offer mild weather, fewer crowds, and little to no road closures.

Yellowstone became the first national park for all to enjoy the unique hydrothermal and geologic wonders. While fall colors, migrating birds, and snow squalls signal winter's approach, the hydrothermal features of Yellowstone continue boiling, steaming, and erupting.

Yellowstone National Park, which is mostly in Wyoming, set a record in August when the park hosted 921,844 recreation visits, park officials said this week. That number of visitors increased 12 percent from August 2019 and 4.5 percent from August 2020, as the pandemic drove more tourists to the park.

Heading to Yellowstone from the Seattle area? Interested in making a couple stops along the way? Check out where we stopped and what we did on the way to Yellowstone. Want to see Yellowstone but only have one day? A local rafting guide told us how to do it all in a day. Come along for the scenery, wildlife, and adventure!

After spending 6 weeks in Washington sate, we decided to make the journey East (our first time driving east in 6 months). Our first stop on the way to Yellowstone was Coeur d'Alene, ID. We walked around a park and hiked around Lake Coeur d'Alene. BEAUTIFUL!

Our next stop was at a Harvest Host called Big Sky Brewery. This was a great place to boondock and enjoy some local refreshments. The girls enjoyed the grassy area (where they have concerts).

We discovered rafting on the Yellowstone River! This was an absolute must with kids. We will definitely look into more opportunities for white water rafting!

Words can not describe how AMAZING Yellowstone National Park is. Bison, Elk, Deer, Geysers, Oh MY! Check it out, then plan your trip. This is a must!
